We decided to make a stop by the Golden Egg on the morning of our annual beach departure. My Aunt made the recommendation and we needed a breakfast redemption after have a horrible experience at Omega Pancake House (please avoid that place at all costs!). Golden Egg Pancake House did not disappoint and absolutely lived up to the hype that my Aunt was telling us about. It was a Sunday morning and I expected to wait at least an hour for a table but they were only running about 15-20 minutes for seating of a party of 4. We enjoyed EVERYTHING we ordered and unlike Omega Pancake House EVERYTHING WAS FRESH! The food was delicious and exactly what we needed to fill our belly's and prepare for a 7 hour drive home. My mother loved her chip beef gravy and said it tasted exactly like my grandmothers. My boyfriend's breakfast quesadilla was HUGE and packed with all the meats, and my scrambled eggs and cheese, sausage patties, and French toast was so tasty! The only thing we did not enjoy was the iced coffee. Please make this a must go the next time you are looking to enjoy a fresh and filling breakfast. I tried their chicken and waffles which was amazing! They put a blend of sweet butter with siracha while the waffle is tasty fluffy and light. The fried chicken was perfect and succulent. First visit this trip and wishing we'd come sooner! Oswaldo was our Server once again and he remains a Rockstar! He is truly an asset to the restaurant. Our food was delicious as usual. The reason for the 4 Stars is the Chipped Beef Gravy was lukewarm and sadly got colder as we ate. Perhaps they made it too soon while waiting for the other dishes to be prepared? Bit of a wait due to people just chatting at ables which is not only annoying for the staff but for the people waiting. The parking lot is tiny and lots of people double park with giant dually trucks that they are driving over from the RV parks. However, that is the end of the cons list. Once you get seated you get amazing service and if you order coffee they will leave you an entire kettle to yourself. They are very knowledgeable about gluten allergies and have really good gluten-free options including waffles. My girlfriend got the gluten free Reese's waffle and loved it. I got the 2 eggs and bacon with potatoes and it was really good, above average for the basics. For dessert I got the dulce de leche waffle and it was outstanding. We couldn't say anything more about how good the food and service was. Yelp gives you a $5 off coupon if you check in. The food was good. I had a wrap with eggs, chorizo and home fries. The salsa and sour cream added a little more flavor. The side of home fries was seasoned nicely. I also tried grits which I had for the first time. I have nothing to compare it too, but with some butter added it tasted good. We always eat breakfast out the morning we leave the beach and since our go to breakfast place, Joe's Diner By The Airport is closed on Mondays, I did some research and we ended up here. The wife and I split the Golden Egg Special which was 3 eggs, 2 pancakes or French toast, bacon or sausage and seasoned home fries or grits. We got 2 small plate size pancakes which were good but not as good as Joe's malted pancakes, with seasoned home fries and patty sausage. Our server was a little scatterbrained as we had to repeat our order back to her as she forgot most of it the first time. Service was ok and they leave a coffee pot on the table. I thought the coffee was pricey at $3.29 a cup. Overall it was good, but at just shy of $30 for two people sharing a breakfast I thought it was a little pricey, but we were eating in a tourist area so that seems to be the going rate. We stopped in on Friday morning in April and waited about 10-15 minutes. You can tell a lot of regulars frequent this place and I can see why! The menu is huge with lots of options for everyone. The restaurant itself is pretty large with a good amount of seating. There's a cool coffee mug wall at the front to the restaurant, which I think belong to regulars so that was really cool! We ordered the breakfast quesadilla with bacon and home fries, and the 3 egg, sausage, toast, and grits special. All delicious! The breakfast quesadilla was HUGE! I could only eat half. It was very tasty and toasty, served with salsa and sour cream. Very yummy! The home fries were super flavorful and made with green peppers, onions, and lots of seasoning. The other items were also great, the toast especially. It's a different kind of toast than your usual breakfast place (maybe sourdough?) and super buttery. The waitstaff is so friendly and welcoming. Tina was wonderful and funny. A table behind us had very special dietary restrictions and I witnessed their waitress (a different one than ours but didn't catch her name) being so extremely patient and helpful with ordering. That makes all the difference for patrons, especially when it's super busy and the waitstaff still goes the extra mile. Keep up the great work!!
