I got taken out for Mother's Day. We had reservations at Tupelo Honey. One of my favorite places to go. I ordered the shrimp and grits. He ordered the plain French toast. Everything was delicious.

There mocktails are not alcohol free which was very disappointing, and they didn't have ANY draft beer available. The food was good everything had a kick to it which was a little unexpected but still good! The server was very kind and sweet to us.

Can we say..... Yummy! From the drinks to the breakfast for dinner. Everyone is so nice and southern! I had never had chicken and waffles before! The flight of drinks made this just such a comfortable place to hang out and talk.

Way better than the one in Pittsburgh. Should probably send everyone down here to learn how to cook the recipes. The Appalachian Shine-tini was very good. The chicken waffles was good, but would be even better with dark meat. The classic bloody Mary was a no go. They should try some zing zang Bloody Mary mix. Dinner was good. The chicken Poblano soup was tasty. We waited on the banana pudding, but it was not to our liking. James did a great job. Relaxed atmosphere that got busy before we left.

Wanted something off the beaten path, after a day of beach time. Tupelo Honey did not disappoint. We got there just in time for happy hour meal specials and those were a GREAT deal. Our food was freshly prepared but still came fairly quickly. Our server was sweet and attentive, and the decor here is just like sitting on Memaw's front porch! This will now be on repeat when we're in the area!

Still hands down my favorite restaurant/brunch spot. The Smothered Chicken* and Parmesan Crispy Potatoes are as good as ever. It's hard switching it up going here when you know something is so good! Decided to try their new Blue(berry) Ridge Mountains Cold Brew and I thought it was delicious! Great hint of vanilla, coffee, and blueberry. If you're looking for some amazing eats, I highly recommend this place!

Pumpkin bisque and frozen pumpkin spice French 75

I sat at the bar and got the frozen pumpkin spice French 75 and a small bowl of the pumpkin bisque. The frozen pumpkin spice French 75 is what caught my eye as I was walking by and pulled me in. It was unfortunately a little underwhelming in the flavor, but met expectations with the liquor (no skimping on that). It was a little touch to drink as shown in the picture out of a martini glass/coupe, so I asked for a straw. French 75s are usually served in a champagne glass, and not drank through a straw, nor frozen, so everything about the drink was just extremely unique. The pumpkin bisque was really good. Good flavor! It was on the warmer side, not really hot, when served. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy.

I had a wonderful experience at Tupelo Honey during their happy hour, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit! The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh, vibrant flavors that made every bite a delight.

Just WOW! I've lived in the market common area for 2 years and have never tried this place. I'm not sure why, but I regret not coming here sooner. My son and I sat outside. The hostess carried a highchair with her so I didn't have to wait for one at the table, which was nice. I had a cereal martini which was spectacular. I wish I would have gotten it as my second drink since it was sweeter, but omg it was so good. I also got the jalapeño/tequila Bloody Mary with was good. I'm not a huge Bloody Mary fan, but this one sounded good and it did not disappoint! For food, my son got a side of mac and cheese and fries. Both were delicious and I ate a lot of it. I got the lunch special for $12.99 that included half a sandwich and a side or soup. I got the spicy chicken sandwich with a side of collard greens and Brussel sprouts. The sandwich was amazing, I wish I would have gotten a full sandwich. The chicken was so crunchy, soft and juicy. 10 out of 10. The collard greens were good, but they weren't my style. I prefer a vinegar style collard green and these seem to be on the sweeter side, but they were still good. The Brussel sprouts were soft, crispy and salty. Nothing special but good if you like Brussel sprouts! Service was kinda slow, but my server was super sweet. My son and I enjoyed the food, drinks, and patio. We will be back!

Absolutely amazing that I had to go back for a 2nd time before going home. We were in town for the holiday and went to the movies. This place was in walking distance and there is a free parking garage as it sits in an outdoor mall area. We were seated quickly both times and u highly recommend their happy hour, cast iron pimento cheese and chicken. The staff was very accommodating and nice. It really cool inside as you can see from photos on their listing. I would also recommend their suppers. My favorite was the Tumeric Ginger Tonic. Their chicken is so good! The quinoa bowl is something I could eat everyday. If you are looking for a place to be fed and not feel weighed down after, this is your spot. It is also very easy on the pocket so if you have a huge family or paying for a gathering, you won't be sorry. I look for to visiting again if I am in town next year.

Luckily I saw a packed place on Mr. Joe White Avenue called Simply Southern Smokehouse. Place looked legit and had a full parking lot so I pulled in. There is only one way in and once you get in, the cashier is on the right with the $15 all you can eat buffet right next to it. The $15 also included all you can drink soft drinks, water and sweet tea. I paid my money and grabbed a plate and ran right up to the buffet. They start out light with vegetables and sides, working up to the main courses of fried chicken, fried fish, pulled pork, smoked chicken and some hot wings. After that, they had some mac & cheese, and then the desserts which was blueberry cobbler, peach cobbler, homemade banana pudding...and a couple of other things. I started off with some broad beans, stewed okra and tomatoes, smoked chicken and hot wings. I brought my plate and my silverware to an empty table, which was getting hard to find as the place was so packed and then went up to fetch me a glass of water to wash it down with. They serve Pepsi products and of course sweet tea but I was going to save my calories for dessert. The place was clean, well lit and the seating was well designed with booths along the wall and tables in the center... and plenty of room between the tables. Once seated I dug right in. The broad beans were excellent. Done right and full of flavor. The stewed tomatoes and okra, although cook correctly was a bit bland for my liking. The smoked chicken was excellent and I used a bit of the golden SC BBQ sauce on it...great...and homemade. The hot wings were the real deal meaty and moist with a nice kick. I finished the plate in about five minutes. Time for round two. On my second trip up, I put some collard greens, lima beans, a piece of fried chicken and a piece of fried fish on the fresh plate. As I sat down to eat, I put a bit of hot vinegar sauce on the collard greens and dug in. The collards were excellent and the homemade vinegar hot sauce gave it a bit of a kick and bite. The Lima beans were soft and loaded with flavor. I then moved on to the fried chicken, which was cooked correctly with the skin crispy and well battered and the meat moist on the inside. That said, it was bland. Given how well the beans were seasoned I was surprised. Same thing with the fish, but they had a real good house sauce for it which gave it a nice flavor and saved it, but overall both the fried chicken and the fried fish were bland. I then went up for a plate number three and realized I was not gonna be able to eat anymore mains, which was a shame since the pulled pork looked great... It will have to wait for the next time I come. I did, however leave a bit of room for dessert and I'm glad I did . The banana pudding was delicious with a full banana taste and 'Nilla wafers on top and bottom adding a bit of crunch. I only had enough room for one of the cobbler so I chose peach and it did not disappoint. Nice and warm with a sweet peach flavor and tasty crumbles. I wanted more but controlled myself. As I got up to leave, I placed five dollars on the table for the cleanup guy who was hustling and keeping the place neat and tidy. I then looked around and noticed this was a real local spot full of people from Myrtle Beach. You have families, elderly people, young people, construction workers and people from local businesses. For $15 it cannot be beat. Not only will I be back again but I plan on bringing some of my friends from up north who are going to love this place...plus I gotta try that pulled pork and Mac and cheese...if the fried chicken and fish have more seasoning, I'll up them to 5 stars.

It consisted of 2 deep fried soft shell crabs, 3 deep fried jumbo (and yes, they were actually jumbo) shrimp on top of a bed of various deep fried vegetables. Although the entire dish was deep-fried, it didn't feel heavy or greasy. And the batter chef Bo made mad it all sooooo flavorful! I ordered the granddaddy's grilled cheese. It was a very different take on grilled cheese, but also absolutely delightful!! I believe you can't go wrong with bacon and fig jam on sourdough bread. And for my side, I wanted something a little different so I ordered the sweet potato grits. Do yourself a favor and try them! They are rich and creamy and sweet but not too sweet... Perfect! As delicious as all that was, the showstopper was dessert. We had the lemon blueberry cake. There are not enough words to say how delicious this was! Dense, sweet, but also tar from the fresh lemon with fresh blueberries baked in with a perfect layer of cream cheese icing. I wanted to order another one just to take home. She made amazing recommendations and was attentive and friendly and all-around wonderful! As an added bonus, we were seated in the perfect corner booth for date night. With so many good restaurants in the area, we usually try new places, but before heading home we decided it was time to stop in again for dinner. As usual, we try to go during happy hour when prices are a bit better, and we sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly she greeted us right away, handed us menus, and took our drink order. The menu had changed a bit since our last visit. My wife ordered a Coke, and I had an Old Fashioned. For food, my wife chose the Fried Crab Claws with fries, and I ordered the French Onion Soup along with the Pork Nachos from the happy hour menu. While we were waiting, the bartender asked where we were from. We told her Southern Maryland, and when I said Huntingtown, she immediately said, "That's where I'm from." That alone surprised us not many people even know where Huntingtown is. When we mentioned the road we live on, she said, "That's the road I turn on to my parents' house." This was the first time we've ever met a bartender or server over 400 miles from home who lived that close to us. Small world. Our food came out and my wife really enjoyed her crab claws -- I tried one and they were very good. My French onion soup had a nice, deep beef flavor and was very tasty, but after a few bites there was a heavy pepper bite that came through. It was still good, but I had to switch over and eat some of my nachos, which were also good, though different from how I remembered them. I think the BBQ sauce changed the flavor, and the lettuce (which I usually prefer without) was something I should have asked to leave off. I asked my wife to try the soup and mentioned the pepper and that it might be a little spicy. She agreed it was good but said it would be better if it wasn't so peppery. A little later, the chef came out and introduced himself, Bo. He asked how everything was going. I told him everything was good overall but mentioned the heavy pepper bite in the onion soup and asked if that was normal. He said it shouldn't be that strong and that it needed to be toned back. Bo then asked if we had ever tried Mama's Soup, the tomato vegetable soup on the menu. We hadn't, and he asked if we'd like to try it. Not long after, he brought us another bowl and said, "This is Mama's soup give it a try." It was a vegetable soup with hamburger and a tomato base, and it was so good. When he came back, he explained it was his own version of his mother's soup. We told him it would go perfectly with a gooey grilled cheese, and he laughed and said they actually have one on the menu. It was really nice of Chef Bo to come out, check on us, listened and know something wasn't quite right, and it's being taken care of. That kind of interaction truly makes dining out a better experience. It makes the place feel welcoming, like they genuinely want you there. Yes, we will return -- and we were told that Mama's soup is always on the menu.

We were promptly seated and drink orders were taken. The waiter reappeared about 15 mins later with drinks and cheese rolls and took the table's order. We settled on the Aspen family meal which consisted of 2 meats and 4 sides. We chose smothered pork tenderloin and fried chicken along with mac 'n cheese, collard greens, fried okra and candied yams. Fried chicken was awesome, crispy, with an assortment of dark and white meat pieces. We were looking for a knife because of the pork tenderloin and realized you don't need it. It was that tender. You could cut it with a fork and it too was awesome. Everyone raved about all the side items except the mac & cheese it was a bit on the bland side so it was not our favorite. There was no need for a refill of any of the food. The first round was very ample sized and everyone left very satisfied. And if I have a bit of feedback, our waiter was not attentive unlike the waitress serving the tables in our same area. He was didn't bother to come back and see if we needed a refill on any of the drinks or the food. The only disappointing thing was they no longer offer you a small sample size dessert to finish up your meal. It's been a while since I've dined here so I'm not sure how long that change has been in place. However, we understand the food industry continues to be impacted by the current economy. The cost for 4 people exceeded our expectations an amount that felt disproportionate to the overall experience provided. The service was adequate. Our waitress was courteous, but could have kept up on our drink refills. The food fell significantly short of our heightened anticipation. Dishes arrived at the table within minutes of ordering, far quicker than would be consistent with individual dish preparations. This is served family style with options of your main courses and sides. The okra was good, but had some very hard pieces. I bit down on one that was so hard it could have broken a tooth. Green beans were decent, but extremely salty. The creamed potatoes were the best thing in my opinion and we were able to be served both the white & brown gravy's. The fried chicken was so dry and uneatable, with extremely minimal flavor and texture that did not meet standard expectations for Southern-style preparation. We realized after the fact: you can request the chicken parts. The macaroni & cheese tasted mushy offering little depth of homemade character. The biscuits were also very dry. They looked great, but tasted bland. The fried fish & tartar sauce was probably the most memorable dish. However, not everyone in our party had it because they do not like it. There's other options for "main" choices, but you'll have to compromise as a group. You'll have to do the same as far as the sides too! I would not recommend Paula Deen's Family Restaurant based on this visit and would advise potential patrons to consider other options for Southern comfort food while in Myrtle Beach. There are many more options within this great broad-walk complex. That said, I would suggest shopping in the gift store located in the downstairs of the building, as there are lots of merchandise that represents Paula Deen far better than her eatery. * If you happen to be a Food Network FAN (like I am). Flavor Town is coming to the other side of town. Location will be at the Myrtle Beach Mall & will open in June 2026*
