He picked this place because it was right up the street from Carolina Theater. I had the Cesar salad with shrimp and he had the steak sandwich. My salad was okay but they apparently have no idea about Cesar dressing. It tasted more like a mix of Cesar and thousand island dressing. He complained to me about his sandwich. I ordered a steak sandwich, how could you go wrong, i got a roll and 4 large pieces of meat not tender not tasty tuff . i had to pull the remaining pieces out of the roll an cut them into eatable pieces. When ordering I was asked how do i want it done I ordered medium well. i got pieces that were rare at best. I ordered the small potatoes they were great crispy outside soft inside very good. I splurged and got a bloody mary I was disappointed. Recap I didn't think the food was good except for the small potato's. The drink was disappointing. Had a lovely time at Drift at a recent stay in Myrtle Beach. Went there for breakfast with two littles and found it was the perfect spot for both basic kids breakfast as well as more niche adult foods. The atmosphere is adorable, with a seaside feel but a bit more eclectic. The servers were great and on top of our needs for more water/juice/coffee before we could ask. I got the Mediterranean avocado toast, husband a fruit cut, and the kids both got the kids French toast. This place comes highly recommended, so I was surprised at our terrible experience. The food came out cold and completely inedible. I ordered the ham Benedict and paid extra for avocado. On top of it being cold, the egg whites weren't even cooked. (I know poached eggs have runny yolks, but the whites should be cooked). To top it off, the avocado I paid extra for was instead half-brown guacamole. It was disgusting. The waitress asked if I wanted a box for my uneaten food and I said "no thanks, it wasn't good." Instead of offering an apology or refund, she just handed me the check. I was hoping to find a great local place to recommend to our AirBnB guests. Instead we sadly won't be back. P.S. It's astonishing to me I haven't left a review for Drift yet as this is a go to spot when in Myrtle Beach for vacation. I have a friend who lived in Myrtle who suggested this spot for brunch and that's all she wrote - we won't go anywhere else! I have tried a plethora of dishes from the Benedict's to the steak and eggs to the chicken and waffles and everything is always superb. Their fried chicken is one of my favorite fried chickens anywhere! They also have a great eclectic vibe and their beautiful drinks match that. She was friendly, polite and checked in on us several times to ensure everything was going well. She was young, but she certainly could be mentoring others in this industry. My husband was super pleased with the perfect execution of his over easy eggs (yes, he's picky). I loved my lobster and bacon omelette and honestly... I rarely eat all of the toast, but usually try it. I found myself finishing all of that yummy rye bread before I started my omelette. As usual, my husband had to finish my fruit. Dined here this past Sunday and had an amazing meal. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table but that was expected. Our waitress was super efficient and friendly. We intentionally planned for a 7 hour layover in Myrtle Beach last Sunday to try a couple of restaurants that I had bookmarked. I had planned our day that as soon as we land at 1:05 PM, we will be heading over to Drift as they close at 3 PM. Drift was a brunch place that we were really excited and looking forward to try. Our server was Jeanine - a sweet filipina who provided us with the friendliest service that made me finally experience and understand what "southern hospitality" really meant. In SC, all the servers offer to refill your drink so you can take it to-go. Our food was amazing, generous portions yet reasonably priced. I could not decide at first whether to go with something sweet (Bananas Foster) or something savory. I ended up ordering the Grilled Octopus over grilled potatoes. The octopus was really tasty and very tender, I just devoured it really quickly. My husband enjoyed his Shrimp and Grits as well. We will definitely come back here as I have to try their Bananas Foster. read more

I give the rating of 4 stars because the Belgian waffle was definitely my favorite and the ambiance was very nice and also the nice little touches of the word drift topped on to the coffee etc. The only thing I would say is that the coffee was really really bitter. Also, I like for my coffee to be sweetened. If you like it straight with nothing in it, you will like the coffee here but if you don't, you will need to let them know that you want it sweetened, for sure! I did love the hospitality! When we sent the coffee back, they seemed a little bit frustrated but it wasn't too bad. They took it and brought me another one, so I did appreciate that they were willing to do that for me! My family and I went around 10:30AM on a Friday, right after the Christmas holiday that week. Overall, the food was average! What really stands out about this place is the ambiance, decor, furniture and all the details.
