We found a new favorite!!! The food was amazing!! For an appetizer we shared the week's special, gator bites, super yummy! My hubby had the fish of the day special which was delicious! It consisted of 2 deep fried soft shell crabs, 3 deep fried jumbo (and yes, they were actually jumbo) shrimp on top of a bed of various deep fried vegetables. Although the entire dish was deep-fried, it didn't feel heavy or greasy. And the batter chef Bo made mad it all sooooo flavorful! I ordered the granddaddy's grilled cheese. It was a very different take on grilled cheese, but also absolutely delightful!! I believe you can't go wrong with bacon and fig jam on sourdough bread. And for my side, I wanted something a little different so I ordered the sweet potato grits. Do yourself a favor and try them! They are rich and creamy and sweet but not too sweet... Perfect! As delicious as all that was, the showstopper was dessert. We had the lemon blueberry cake. There are not enough words to say how delicious this was! Dense, sweet, but also tar from the fresh lemon with fresh blueberries baked in with a perfect layer of cream cheese icing. I wanted to order another one just to take home. And if the food wasn't enough to keep us coming back. Our service was absolutely amazing. Rachel was our server and she was a rockstar!!! She knew the menu very well! Jan. 2026 My wife and I hadn't been back to 44 & King in a few years. With so many good restaurants in the area, we usually try new places, but before heading home we decided it was time to stop in again for dinner. As usual, we try to go during happy hour when prices are a bit better, and we sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly she greeted us right away, handed us menus, and took our drink order. The menu had changed a bit since our last visit. My wife ordered a Coke, and I had an Old Fashioned. For food, my wife chose the Fried Crab Claws with fries, and I ordered the French Onion Soup along with the Pork Nachos from the happy hour menu. While we were waiting, the bartender asked where we were from. We told her Southern Maryland, and when I said Huntingtown, she immediately said, "That's where I'm from." That alone surprised us not many people even know where Huntingtown is. When we mentioned the road we live on, she said, "That's the road I turn on to my parents' house." This was the first time we've ever met a bartender or server over 400 miles from home who lived that close to us. Small world. Our food came out and my wife really enjoyed her crab claws -- I tried one and they were very good. My French onion soup had a nice, deep beef flavor and was very tasty, but after a few bites there was a heavy pepper bite that came through. It was still good, but I had to switch over and eat some of my nachos, which were also good, though different from how I remembered them. I think the BBQ sauce changed the flavor, and the lettuce (which I usually prefer without) was something I should have asked to leave off. I asked my wife to try the soup and mentioned the pepper and that it might be a little spicy. She agreed it was good but said it would be better if it wasn't so peppery. A little later, the chef came out and introduced himself, Bo. He asked how everything was going. I told him everything was good overall but mentioned the heavy pepper bite in the onion soup and asked if that was normal. He said it shouldn't be that strong and that it needed to be toned back. Bo then asked if we had ever tried Mama's Soup, the tomato vegetable soup on the menu. We hadn't, and he asked if we'd like to try it. Not long after, he brought us another bowl and said, "This is Mama's soup give it a try." It was a vegetable soup with hamburger and a tomato base, and it was so good. When he came back, he explained it was his own version of his mother's soup. We told him it would go perfectly with a gooey grilled cheese, and he laughed and said they actually have one on the menu. It was really nice of Chef Bo to come out, check on us, listened and know something wasn't quite right, and it's being taken care of. That kind of interaction truly makes dining out a better experience. It makes the place feel welcoming, like they genuinely want you there. Everything was just fantastic. We stopped in last month during our trip for Spring Break (mid April) Came in for a somewhat early dinner I suppose as it started getting busier by the time we left. My cocktail had glazed smoked bacon topping in. Such a fun twist. Would have given 5 stars as all of the food was exceptional with the exception of the mac and cheese alongside my sandwich. It was dry and lackluster. They have a few yard games outside that our children played with on the way out as we were in no rush. The ambiance is pretty chill. First time here while visiting family in SC. The vibes are so cozy and welcoming inside to start and our waitress was so sweet. (I wish I remembered her name). We had the bison meatloaf, the tomato pie and the pot roast. Everything was so good! Especially the tomato pie and pot roast. The portions for the roast and meatloaf were huge! I had been wanting to try tomato pie for a while and so glad I did. It was so savory. They also have a summer garden cocktail right now I got as well that was so refreshing. My honey and I chose this spot to close out our last night of vacation in Myrtle Beach and boy, are we glad we did! That atmosphere was nice and the live music added a cool island vibe. We went here for Mother's Day and it did not disappoint. We were seated immediately and our server, Caitlyn, was also on the spot. Ambiance is a bit "hunter/rustic" with mounted animals prominent on the walls. The food was great! We shared a Charcuterie Platter to start. Then my son had ribs, I had the Ocean Platter, and my husband had the Pit Sampler - so much food! Took home enough leftovers for lunch the next day. It's a bit pricey, but the portions are so generous it evens out. My one complaint - there is a charge for using a credit card, so bring cash to avoid that. Unknownly we had been to this restaurant on a previous visit to Myrtle Beach and loved it, this visit we felt the same!! We love the ambiance, the food is great ( loved the pepper vinegar that you can order with the pulled pork sandwich) the Fried okra was light and crispy and delicious. Abigail was the server. Never asked if we needed anything or seemed to care if we enjoyed our food. We had to get up twice to address items we needed for our meal. When asking for the manager, she appeared to be rather dismissive and uncaring about our experience saying "well you got what you needed" when saying I have to get up for a napkin for my ribs. Manager was pleasant but was invalidating. The food was pretty decent... wouldn't call it the best ribs being a bit dry but certainly was still tasty and the sides were good. Absolutely delicious food! My wife had the salmon tips special. I had the fried chicken breast and gravy. All of the sides (mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, cole slaw and asparagus) were on point, and the drinks were a great blend of strong and smooth. Olivia was one of the most pleasant servers I have had in a while. She was engaging, humorous, knowledgeable, attentive, and very gracious. It was the perfect compliment to a delicious meal. Oh wait. I forgot the dessert. They call it pound cake. But it was so light, I don't how how it could be pound cake. It was exquisite. I literally spent minutes after each bite reflecting on the goodness of the cake and what was good in my life. We ate outside, in a carefully curated space with string lights and outdoor games. My wife and I stopped in on a Monday evening to try this restaurant. We decided to try the Southern Boys Poutine as a starter with the gravy on the side. The fries were a little too crispy for my taste and the chicken was a little crunchy. I would only give the appetizer a 3 out of five. Boy, did they make up for it with the main course! We decided to split the Pit Sampler which included ribs, barbeque chicken, sausage and pulled pork. It came with a variety of sauces on the side. We both loved everything on the plate. It was well worth the trip to Myrtle Beach just for this platter. We tried one of the local beers which was great and the brown butter Old Fashioned which was fabulous. I got the White Cheddar Chicken Burger, which features a fried chicken breast topped with white cheddar, pesto mayo, lettuce, and house pickles. The chicken was perfectly fried, and the traditional was elevated by the richness of the pesto and cheese. I would have liked a little more acidity from the pickles, but overall, it was a good, solid sandwich. I swapped in fried okra for my side, which was a good idea, if I do say so myself. The okra was cut long, rather than chopped into small discs, which was generally fine, but a detriment on a couple of very fibrous pieces that were basically inedible due to their toughness. The batter for the okra was very well-seasoned! 44 & King was a nice quiet spot for a casual lunch, and I fully recommend the White Cheddar Chicken Burger! read more

Holy Cow....let me just tell you, this place has EVERYTHING. My 16 year old told me that I have to mention the music they played because she was in love but it totally matched the vibe of this place. Cool and comfy booths, smooth southern hip atmosphere. Service was above par but the food I cannot get over. Smoked Fish dip and chips were "Slay" as my kids would say and didn't taste straight out of a can like it did at Lulu's the other day. Top notch chicken sandwich with delicious fries. I don't know how you can elevate a fried chicken sandwich to another level but they did. Salmon with Red pepper risotto was on point. The risotto was creamy and the red peppers just were a great added touch. Salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned just as it should. I had the Pepper Geddings Salad and let me just tell you....you have to eat the steak, greens, blue cheese, roasted pepper and dressing all in one bite to truly appreciate how delicious this thing is. It may very well be the best salad I have ever had. STOP AND EAT HERE....you won't be disappointed. You immediately feel at home when you walk through the doors and even the pickiest will find something they love on the menu. Im currently addicted to the 'chicken burger', a fried chicken breast with lettuce, pickles and a special sauce. My husband LOVES the boneless smothered pork chop. We always try something new and this time was the chef's charcuterie - y'all, look at it. It was almost too beautiful of a presentation to dig into (spoiler alert...we did and there was nothing left. We met up with friends at this cool southern pub. It definitely has a brewery feel to it, but also a nice restaurant. Atmosphere was nice, not too loud. Still a 5 star joint a year later. Had their rubbed wings appetizer which were some very meaty wings. Kids had the mussels which were just as good as the last time. I enjoyed a rib eye cooked to perfection, while the wife had a meatloaf she enjoyed enough to do again. Favorite restaurant in Myrtle. Everything is locally sourced, down to the hand pressed juices, made fresh weekly and used in the cocktails. We ordered the chicken and waffles appetizer, shared a rack of ribs and the shrimp and grits. We added sides of Mac n cheese and sweet potatoes fries. The ribs are smoked for 12 hours and fall off the bone, can barely pick them up, tender but have the perfect amount of char so the texture is elite. The shrimp and grits is savory and creamy and one of the best. Fresh heirloom tomatoes balanced it perfectly. The outdoor seating is wonderful and cute, with yard games to keep kids or a group entertained. Indoor decor is so cute, and bathrooms are always clean!! Mellisa was an incredible server, so accommodating and knew the menu so well, helped us choose excellent meals. 10/10 read more

Decided to try something new, it was not very busy and they had live music- just a soloist and guitar- I can never decide if this adds to a setting or detracts- I will say when she stopped playing they needed some background music on- To the food! Great poutine- loved the southern flair of it and terrific flavor! The fried cauliflower appetizer was great- spicy but good! I had the chicken pot pie- I really liked it - good flavor, big portion- the chicken seemed blanched then cubed- could use some color on it or even roasted- my daughter had the shrimp,scallop risotto special- risotto was awesome- shrimp was fried which was off- but to be fair she didn't ask if it was grilled kind of just assumed it would be -her friend got the fillet which again we should have asked price it just said market- it was ok, not worth the price. 44 & King is one of the Greater Myrtle Beach area best reviewed restaurants on Yelp and that's why I had dinner there the other night. In the evening it is beautifully decorated with hanging white lights from the trees and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant has an indoor/outdoor bar too along with plenty of parking. I ordered the chicken pie entree for $16.50 for dinner and it came out in about 10 later. It consisted of a rectangular piece of flaky butter crust on top of a bed of roasted chicken, peas, carrots and cream sauce. It was a good tasting dish that also wasn't heavy on the stomach. I gave this meal a 3.5 and the table service was attentive too. I am going to round up to a 4 for Yelp purposes and believe that 44 & King is a good place to come have a meal and chill out. read more
