Ailsa Pub - Myrtle Beach Review (Legends Golf Resort) For starters, I had no idea this place was located within a large, access-controlled gated golf resort community (I'm not local to Myrtle Beach, for context). I later realized the pub is part of Legends Golf Resort, which becomes clear once you pass through the main entry gate. Pulling up to the entrance, there was on-site personnel--looked like security or some type of access control. No issues at all on my end. I rolled up, the gate opened immediately, and I was waved right through. I'm not sure what (if anything) is typically required for entry, but from a first-time visitor standpoint, it was completely smooth. Driving in, the golf course immediately stands out on your left--it's massive. The pub sits further inside and feels like part of a full golf clubhouse setup. When you get to Ailsa Pub, it aligns with what you'd expect from that kind of setting--a true pub environment surrounded by golfers who've clearly been enjoying themselves Before I even walked in (after parking and getting myself together from a long drive), I noticed a couple golfers being escorted out by what appeared to be a representative from the establishment. As I stepped out, one of them made his way over to the bushes near the entrance and decided that was his next "relief stop." It happened to be a windy night, so I crossed to the other side of the street--no need to get caught in any unintended "splash zone." Not a dealbreaker, just one of those moments that gives you a quick read on the overall environment. That said, this is where I think there's an opportunity. Having a more consistent presence outside--especially when guests are being escorted out or appear overly intoxicated--could help better manage those situations and reduce the likelihood of issues as people head out, including potentially getting behind the wheel. Speaking from experience (having spent years working security across a range of bar environments), that kind of presence can make a noticeable difference in keeping things smooth and controlled. Inside the pub and overall physical environment, though--that was a great experience. The place is very well maintained. Clean, professional, and clearly well managed. I felt completely at ease the entire time, including with my vehicle. At no point was I concerned about break-ins or anything along those lines. The space itself is impressive. Large, open layout with plenty of room to move around. There's a sizable back area with what looked like around eight pool tables, a nicely done screened-in section, and even a second outdoor patio bar. It never felt crowded. Staff was excellent--friendly, professional, and attentive. The bartender was responsive and easy to engage with, which always makes a difference. Dress-wise, it leans toward golf attire--polos, golf shorts, that type of look--but it's not overly strict. I came in more casual after the long drive, and the staff welcomed me in without any issues at all. I don't know that I'd make that a habit, but on a late Monday night, it wasn't a problem. As for the crowd, that's really the main variable. My impression was that this is not the type of environment where people are regularly looking to cause more serious trouble. It felt more like a local neighborhood pub where a lot of people know each other--though like any place, every now and then people can get a little too comfortable. Unfortunately, I didn't try the food, but they do serve it and it looked good. There were plenty of plates out, tables being cleared, and staff actively supporting that side of the operation. Bottom line: Great, comfortable environment, strong staff, and a well-designed space. The main opportunity is having a more consistent presence outside to help manage guests as they exit--especially later in the evening. All in all, a solid experience. I'd confidently give it a 4 out of 5 and would absolutely return. read more

My group and I walked in around 10:55 believing they closed at 12 and were turned down service with the bartender saying "they close in 5 minutes." For a top 50 pub in America, it was pretty disappointing. read more

We come to the Legends every year for the last 15 years. The Pub was always a highlight of our trip with a group of 60 talking about the days round. The owner was a real jerk to several people in our group and most of our group multiple times. We won't be going there the rest of our stay. Finding another location to watch the Super Bowl. Well let me start with the fact that golf digest lists this establishment as a top 50 pub in the world. Pretty hard to live up to that. I went in pretty convinced that this would be a low review and I was wrong, dead wrong. The menu alone should be framed as what a great pub menu should have and the food is fantastic to boot. The jalapeño sausage/ pretzel platter is perhaps the greatest pub menu starter ever. The pub plates are all world class offerings. This place may not be wonderful to look at but for what it lacks in appearance it makes up for in quality. Long live the Alisa pub! read more

Classic Pub grub! This place is on-site at the Legends gold resort so they have no competition. As you would expect it's a sports bar atmosphere with pub grub. I had the Pub burger and wings and they were very good. The service was excellent! read more

The owner of Alisa pub has no business running a restaurant/bar. This pub used to be crowded, busy, fun, and he has run everyone away. They used to have Super Bowl parties with squares and raffles, giving half of the money to wounded warriors. He stopped doing that two years ago, and if you question him about it, he gets aggressive and says gambling is illegal. They used to have heaters out on the back porch so we could sit out and smoke cigars. Now he says that the heaters are broken and he's not going to reinvest in those because it's too much of a problem. There used to be 100 people in the bar and last night on a Friday night they were less than 10 people at 9:00. I used to run a bar and restaurant, and I can tell you if he continues to manage this place, they will go out of business within the year. It will also make us reconsider going to legends for our golf trip as the pub used to be one of the highlights of our week. Grumpy monk down the street is getting all the business now I guess. Visited 12/07/2019 A long golf weekend with old and new friends found me here, which is right across the street from the condo. Great service to begin with... very prompt and courteous even though it was pretty busy. Not all that hungry I had a spinach salad and a bowl of chili. Both excellent, although I like my chili hotter and spicier. The others in the group all liked their dishes too. Great bar makes it a good place to hang out. read more

Great great great food. The bar is on Legends golf course surrounded by local homes / cottages and of course, golf courses. The airBnb community is a lil further down from the pub. So you have a mixture of locals/golfers and a friendly staff, makes a great place to " walk up " to and have a cold beer or a nice dinner. My twin and I live a block away and this pub is definitely worth the walk over lol. Staff are very friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. Pub bites with a bar menu as well as carbonara pasta, fresh fish and steak entrees. Take the drive over to Legends even though you don't play golf,the food is worth it. Just make sure you chk the hours of operation first before you drive all the way out here. I haven't gotten it right yet from the inconsistency, but worth checking it out. read more

Megan is the best bartender here at Alisa Pub. We met her at the bar area on Wednesday night and ordered their fish and chips. Delicious food. Great service at the bar area and in the pool and patio area as well. This was my first visit to Myrtle Beach, SC and attended the 3 day golf school with Classic Swing Golf School. My only salvation after my first day of golf school was having cocktails and dinner at Alisa. We were practically here every night for drinks. They have themed cook outs in the back of the Pub. We attended the steak night which was okay. Stake was tad over cooked, but we enjoyed the ambiance and the people. This is a happening place later at night when all the locals come and hang out. There is a hot tub and pool too in the back. Great place to grab a drink and unwind after a whole day out in the golf course. What a life? I am tanned and buff after three days. The Pub is in my neighborhood so it's very convenient! The service is excellent, the food is great and it's a nice place to hang out!

Food is great. Manager not so much. Never order to-go and wait at bar having drinks. They have you pre-pay for to-go. Not an issue except for what ensued. Waited well over 1 hour for our completed order. Mind you plenty of other to-go orders placed at the same time by other groups of the guys in our total group of 16 golfers (ordering the exact items in our order) got their orders. People ordering after we placed our 4 to-go dinners got their orders. One of our orders came out at around 30 minutes, not so bad, however waiting over 30 additional minutes for the other 3 is not right. Did they forget the other 3 orders? I finally asked to see manager. Amazingly, he immediately comes out carrying the remainder of our order. I explained what was going on and that I felt we should be compensated in some manner. His reply. "OKAY you don't want your order then". He turned and walked away holding all four of our meals. At this point I lost it. I yelled a vulgar expression to him and showed him that he was number one on my hit parade. Now he walks back. Fine. We voiced our love for one other and I was asked to leave. Fortunately he surrendered our prepaid meals to another guy in our group. So what am I think? They know we are at the bar having drinks waiting. Does the manager figure he can make more money on us by keeping us at the bar? We ordered to-go orders over the phone for a couple other nights during our stay and had no issues. Food was given in a timely manner. Only conclusion I can see here is that we were taken advantage of. If you are not going to eat within the establishment, order your to-go over the phone and go pick it up. read more

No pub doesn't take temperature requests for burgers. Burger was well done dry like a fast food burger. So you won't take a temperature request of rare, which is less time on the grill, but you'll over cook a burger instead. Maybe you should t offer a burger if you can't cook one properly. I took my chances and was disappointed. I'll go out in town every year instead. Hope this helps others make a decision on where you dine. read more

The servers were very nice but absolutely every item that we ordered came out wrong. They Ignored allergy substitutions and multiple other changes to our order. The food that we did receive was very over cooked, and bland. In addition they delivered appetizers well after main course and it was also incorrect. Tough experience overall; Laura was apologetic but we still left without eating anything. They offered 10% off the bill but that is not enough when we leave spending over $100 on food we could not eat read more

This pub is open for delivery and takeout in the Legends golf complex and now has the patio back open. Their food is really good, I have had several specials from them such as seafood platter, Shepherd's Pie and even Mexican delivered to me in the past month. Delivery service has been great. Looking forward to trying the patio soon. You would not have to be staying in the Legends to visit but if you are here, you should definitely check it out! read more

Hmmmm....really ?? first to review ? Startling excellent food at a golf course ?? I don't golf...but was directed here by others...and what sound advice ! Excellent fish tacos....creative menu items like Poutine.....which is basically a heart attack waiting to happen...popular in Canada.....french fries smothered in housemade gravy and cheese. Our family came to the Ailsa Pub after the Father and Son golf tournament for a beer. We decided to enjoy an appetizer and our server Emily recommended the duck flatbread and we were not disappointed. We ate it too fast to take a picture!! The pub has a great atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended. read more

Food is good but draft beer selection is extremely poor no local brews nothing to write home about how it made top 50 top bars from golf digest is way beyond me need better beers not bother if you aren't a regular bud or Guinness drinker read more

This is the worst "pub" to go to. Megan is a horrible bartender and is extremely rude. My sister-in-law and I went into the Ailsa Pub on June 27th 2018 to have some drinks and sat down at the bar to be carded and then walked away from. After a 10 minute wait to get drinks we were rudely asked "What do you want?" Overall bad service from Megan. We ended up going into the Ailsa pub the next day with my husbands grandparents who are regulars there and Megan told my husbands grandmother that "the girls should have told me who they were" like that makes a difference? Overall horrible service from Megan as she is extremely rude to customers! read more

We've been here the last couple of days because its next door to our condo and its been absolutely fantastic. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Yesterday they did a rib special that was excellent! I would certainly recommend hanging out here after a round. There's an outdoor pool and hot tub which is great for decompressing. read more

1 word will sum this up. SALMONELLA. I had some Calamari and shrimp and grits and the next day started vomiting uncontrollably with severe stomach pain and then severe diarrhea. Worst vacation experience ever. I would not recommend this to anyone. Test results confirmed Salmonella and it lasted well over 7days. I am over a week out from my stay there and am still trying to get over it. Missed the entire next week of work due to this. Not happy to say the least. read more

In the heart of Turnberry Village at The Legends Golf Resort, you will find the Ailsa Pub. Don't let this pub fool you. The food is on point! From the fish and chips, to a 14oz bone-in pork chop, the chef knows what good food is and how to prepare it. Most people come in here for the drinks... draft beer, scotch, wine, etc... and while that is the main reason I ventured in, I will go back for the food. You owe it to yourself to give it a try. read more

There are a few things that make a pub "better than average" and that is atmosphere, staff, and selection. This pub is outstanding in each of these categories. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to accommodate. The drink selection is out of this world, and the bar tending staff knows how to craft a drink and make recommendations to fit your desires. The food is so much better than you should expect at a pub. It is a bit pricey, but the quality is high. The chef takes pride in each dish he prepares. The owner is friendly and will share stories with you. This was my first visit, and I will make it a point to stop in each time i am in Myrtle Beach. read more

Been coming here for years. Just had the worst restaurant experience ever. Megan from New York was our waitress. We had a group of 12. Half ordered food & got it very quick. The other half waited & ordered later on. All we ordered were burgers & sandwiches. We just waited an hour & a half and never got our food. Megan seemed annoyed when asked where our food was. Eventually she came back and said she checked with the kitchen & it would be 7 minutes. 30 minutes later she came and said that she knew it was ridiculous that we hadn't received our food and that she was going to give us free shots. Nice offer, but I really wanted dinner. Ironically, neither the shots nor our food ever arrived. After an hour & a half we decided enough was enough. Yes the restaurant was busy when we got there, but we kept being told "the kitchen is really busy", even though the place had emptied out by then. Then we were told that someone had ordered meatloaf which slows everything down. However, our friend got his meatloaf in minutes. After coming here for years I'll never go back. We were finally told that Megan never put our order in. After years of coming here I'll never come back. Worst service. Megan was unpleasant throughout, mad when asked questions & we never ate. Unfortunately this place is in the middle of a golf complex so they have a cornered audience and will always be busy, so there is zero incentive for them to improve. read more
