what a absolutely hidden gem in Myrtle Beach! From the food to the staff is amazing. The atmosphere is home town bar. You can't go wrong. The staff is just as amazing as the food. Barbara was our waitress @ the bar and she was so amazing!!

Stopped in during a recent vacation. Very, very friendly bartender and staff. Obviously feeling the pressure of finding people in the kitchen though, as a very simple order took a very long time to receive. Again though, handled very well by the staff, and a decent selection of beers in a good environment overall.

Excellent corned beef dinner. Lean and tender!!

Great atmosphere, service, food quality and taste, and portions!! Their sign was damaged by an accident but they are open!!!! Our party had: Caesar salad - excellent Fish and chips - excellent McGullycuddy Reuben - excellent Chicken parm - excellent Two from our party were there prior and said the Bowl of Longford stew is outstanding. We all highly recommend McCool and will certainly go back!!

This was our first stop for lunch at Myrtle Beach and it was delicious! My kids all got the linguine and loved it also. My Turkey club was loaded and delicious as well. The service was great and meals came out fast.

Finn McCool's is a great local place for drinks and food. The onion rings are a must --- they're out of this world---batter dipped, and they still have a great bite, are perfectly cooked, not greasy. McCool chips, which accompany the meals, are fresh-made potato chips that are fantastic. I ordered the club sandwich, which is made with fresh, not processed, turkey - absolutely delicious.

Saturday evening around seven this off the beaten path joint was a great night out. Fried mushrooms & broccoli cheese bite apps were large hot and good. 4 top with variety of seafood, burger and chicken entrees, all were plenty large servings, fresh and hot. Nice 'homemade' french fries! Everything came out pretty quick and correct. Staff was attentive, fun and polite. Average prices for the area, nice bar selections.

Dinner on vacation. Server was entertaining/funny. Food was mediocre. Husband had the fried shrimp dinner. There were only 6 shrimp which were not crispy and a lot of cold fries. Hushpuppies were decent. Cole slaw was plain and kind of dry. Mixed grill dinner was not worth the money. Steak was good, pork chop was tough and chewy, chicken was not good. Baked potato was good. Ribeye steak dinner was decent. Garlic bread was really good. Potato skins were ok, but you only get 5. They were out of several beers on tap. Probably won't go back.

Service took forever. Had pork chops which were large, but not 25 minutes on the stove large. They tasted good. It is a locals joint.

Ailsa Pub - Myrtle Beach Review (Legends Golf Resort)…read more For starters, I had no idea this place was located within a large, access-controlled gated golf resort community (I'm not local to Myrtle Beach, for context). I later realized the pub is part of Legends Golf Resort, which becomes clear once you pass through the main entry gate. Pulling up to the entrance, there was on-site personnel--looked like security or some type of access control. No issues at all on my end. I rolled up, the gate opened immediately, and I was waved right through. I'm not sure what (if anything) is typically required for entry, but from a first-time visitor standpoint, it was completely smooth. Driving in, the golf course immediately stands out on your left--it's massive. The pub sits further inside and feels like part of a full golf clubhouse setup. When you get to Ailsa Pub, it aligns with what you'd expect from that kind of setting--a true pub environment surrounded by golfers who've clearly been enjoying themselves Before I even walked in (after parking and getting myself together from a long drive), I noticed a couple golfers being escorted out by what appeared to be a representative from the establishment. As I stepped out, one of them made his way over to the bushes near the entrance and decided that was his next "relief stop." It happened to be a windy night, so I crossed to the other side of the street--no need to get caught in any unintended "splash zone." Not a dealbreaker, just one of those moments that gives you a quick read on the overall environment. That said, this is where I think there's an opportunity. Having a more consistent presence outside--especially when guests are being escorted out or appear overly intoxicated--could help better manage those situations and reduce the likelihood of issues as people head out, including potentially getting behind the wheel. Speaking from experience (having spent years working security across a range of bar environments), that kind of presence can make a noticeable difference in keeping things smooth and controlled. Inside the pub and overall physical environment, though--that was a great experience. The place is very well maintained. Clean, professional, and clearly well managed. I felt completely at ease the entire time, including with my vehicle. At no point was I concerned about break-ins or anything along those lines. The space itself is impressive. Large, open layout with plenty of room to move around. There's a sizable back area with what looked like around eight pool tables, a nicely done screened-in section, and even a second outdoor patio bar. It never felt crowded. Staff was excellent--friendly, professional, and attentive. The bartender was responsive and easy to engage with, which always makes a difference. Dress-wise, it leans toward golf attire--polos, golf shorts, that type of look--but it's not overly strict. I came in more casual after the long drive, and the staff welcomed me in without any issues at all. I don't know that I'd make that a habit, but on a late Monday night, it wasn't a problem. As for the crowd, that's really the main variable. My impression was that this is not the type of environment where people are regularly looking to cause more serious trouble. It felt more like a local neighborhood pub where a lot of people know each other--though like any place, every now and then people can get a little too comfortable. Unfortunately, I didn't try the food, but they do serve it and it looked good. There were plenty of plates out, tables being cleared, and staff actively supporting that side of the operation. Bottom line: Great, comfortable environment, strong staff, and a well-designed space. The main opportunity is having a more consistent presence outside to help manage guests as they exit--especially later in the evening. All in all, a solid experience. I'd confidently give it a 4 out of 5 and would absolutely return.

Jan. 2026 My wife…read moreand I hadn't been back to 44 & King in a few years. With so many good restaurants in the area, we usually try new places, but before heading home we decided it was time to stop in again for dinner. As usual, we try to go during happy hour when prices are a bit better, and we sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly she greeted us right away, handed us menus, and took our drink order. The menu had changed a bit since our last visit. My wife ordered a Coke, and I had an Old Fashioned. For food, my wife chose the Fried Crab Claws with fries, and I ordered the French Onion Soup along with the Pork Nachos from the happy hour menu. While we were waiting, the bartender asked where we were from. We told her Southern Maryland, and when I said Huntingtown, she immediately said, "That's where I'm from." That alone surprised us not many people even know where Huntingtown is. When we mentioned the road we live on, she said, "That's the road I turn on to my parents' house." This was the first time we've ever met a bartender or server over 400 miles from home who lived that close to us. Small world. Our food came out and my wife really enjoyed her crab claws -- I tried one and they were very good. My French onion soup had a nice, deep beef flavor and was very tasty, but after a few bites there was a heavy pepper bite that came through. It was still good, but I had to switch over and eat some of my nachos, which were also good, though different from how I remembered them. I think the BBQ sauce changed the flavor, and the lettuce (which I usually prefer without) was something I should have asked to leave off. I asked my wife to try the soup and mentioned the pepper and that it might be a little spicy. She agreed it was good but said it would be better if it wasn't so peppery. A little later, the chef came out and introduced himself, Bo. He asked how everything was going. I told him everything was good overall but mentioned the heavy pepper bite in the onion soup and asked if that was normal. He said it shouldn't be that strong and that it needed to be toned back. Bo then asked if we had ever tried Mama's Soup, the tomato vegetable soup on the menu. We hadn't, and he asked if we'd like to try it. Not long after, he brought us another bowl and said, "This is Mama's soup give it a try." It was a vegetable soup with hamburger and a tomato base, and it was so good. When he came back, he explained it was his own version of his mother's soup. We told him it would go perfectly with a gooey grilled cheese, and he laughed and said they actually have one on the menu. It was really nice of Chef Bo to come out, check on us, listened and know something wasn't quite right, and it's being taken care of. That kind of interaction truly makes dining out a better experience. It makes the place feel welcoming, like they genuinely want you there. Yes, we will return -- and we were told that Mama's soup is always on the menu.
