JEM Social - Cocktails + Kitchen - Post-Xmas family dinner :) - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

This was a very aesthetically pleasing place, both inside and out. We chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful day and the inside is kind of dark and heavy with green velvet, although it is beautifully designed. Our service was excellent, I hate I don't remember her name-- they brought our baby some orange slices unprompted which was greatly appreciated, and she was extremely attentive to our needs. Both my husband and I remarked on what a lovely waitress we had. We went on a Tuesday night for dinner-- I had the Korean chicken sandwich and my husband had the ribs. My meal was the better one out of the two. Both drinks were good-- we had a mojito and the beet le juice. I would absolutely be back if we lived in the area, hopefully it stays around! read more

Cool spot, good vibes, reminds us of places in Atlanta. We live in Myrtle now and will be back. Tuna Tacos, Bao Buns, and dumplings were amazing. Great list of cocktails too. read more

One of the stranger vibes I've experienced in a restaurant. Many of the lightbulbs were red, which you can see in the picture I didn't use flash on and there was no white noise - I felt like I could hear everyone's conversation. That said, we went in the late afternoon on a Sunday, so it could have just been weird timing. Outside of the vibe, our experience was good. The waitress was nice and helpful when decided on meals. Our food was flavorful and we enjoyed it very much. I would go back, but I would look to sit in the outdoor area. read more

We stumbled in here not knowing what this place was and it was definitely not something you'd find back home. This place had a really cool vibe and was decorated like a tiki bar right now. Our server McKeena was fantastic she was super friendly, and very helpful with decisions. The food for me was fantastic because I really enjoy all these foods, my son loved his ramen bowl and my wife and daughters not really their thing but definitely loved the brownie. We also got the fried deviled eggs that I forgot the pic, but everything I ate was delicious. The music in the place was a little loud if you want to socialize as a group but food, and service was fantastic. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Myrtle Beach for years, and every time we drive past JEM I always say, "We have to try that place sometime." The parking lot is usually full, which always felt like a good sign. Well... after years of saying "maybe next time," we finally stopped in -- and we're glad we did. We were in town for a few days doing some work at our place and decided to try something new for dinner. I checked Yelp beforehand to see if they had a happy hour menu, and they did -- and it looked good. We arrived around 5:00 pm. There were only a few cars in the lot at that time, and the building (which used to be a Pizza Hut) is easy to spot. When we walked in, we were told to sit wherever we liked, so we headed straight to the bar. The bartender greeted us right away, gave us menus and waters, and made us feel welcome. Since it was our first visit, we had a lot of questions about the menu. The food seemed like a fusion of Asian and Korean flavors, and we weren't very familiar with it. She was fantastic patient, knowledgeable, and very helpful. She even mentioned their Date Night special, which turned out to be a great deal. She made my wife an iced tea that was different than the usual but very good, and I had an Old Fashioned that was excellent. We decided on the Date Night Special, which is a prix fixe menu for two for $45. It includes one starter to share, a selection of small plates, each person choosing their own main from a list of six (two with a small upcharge), and a dessert to share. For our starter, we chose the Scallion Pancakes. They aren't really pancakes in the traditional sense -- more like a thinner batter that's deep-fried and served with two sauces. Both sauces were excellent, and the appetizer was a great way to start the meal. For our mains, my wife ordered the Bibimbap with chicken, and I had the Korean Fried Chicken (+$3). When they set the plates down in front of us, I looked at my wife and said, this looks really good -- why haven't we stopped here before? Her dish came in a shallow bowl with cucumbers in a sauce, thinly shaved carrots, kimchi, rice topped with an egg, and a piece of fried chicken with sauce. Mine came with coleslaw, fresh-cut French fries, and two chicken breasts covered in the same flavorful sauce. The chicken on both dishes was the same, and that sauce was outstanding. My first bite was literally, "Why have we passed this place so many times?" My wife loved everything on her plate, and I enjoyed every bite of mine as well. Our dessert, the Apple Crumble, came out before we were completely finished with our meals. This was really the only thing that could have been handled a little differently. Even though we didn't eat it right away, it was still good we just felt a bit rushed trying to finish our food so the dessert wouldn't get cold and the ice cream wouldn't melt. Overall, we found a new top-5 restaurant to eat at when we're in town. To top it all off, while sitting at the bar we were talking with a waiter named Logan. He asked where we were from and mentioned he had family there. It turned out he's a cousin of a friend who grew up with our son and was actually in our son's wedding. Just a few weeks earlier, they were all in Myrtle Beach for a bachelor party for his cousin. Small world! Don't be like us driving past for years and saying "maybe next time." Just stop in and give it a try. The food is wonderful, the service was great, and we will definitely be back. read more

I would give this place a ZERO if I could. The door was disgraceful. We ordered the Korean chicken sandwich and it was hard, chewy, had no flavor, and the batter fell right off. The burger tasted like the worst meatloaf you can ever imagine tasting. It had no flavor, tasted like plastic and I had better food in elementary school lunch. I will never ever go back here again and I would never recommend this place. How jt had 4.4 stars is beyond me!!!!! Are you all okay? I would rather order fast food and I havent eaten fast food in 15 years. read more

I was so disappointed by the food here DoorDash issued a full refund for my order. I ordered the Korean Chicken Sandwich and the Make it a Double Smashburger and wow both were horrible. The chicken on the sandwich had absolutely no flavor and was beyond dry. The batter fell right off the chicken. It tasted like boiled chicken. The burger was probably the worst burger I've ever eaten. The cheese tasted plastic. You can tell it was fake, cheap cheese. The burger was unseasoned and just tasted like ground beef. It is beyond me that you can call this a smash burger!!! A smashburger is supposed to be a thin patty that is smashed and crispy and delicious! I'm sick of places just throwing out the label "smashburger" just because it's "trending" right now. This was absolutely not a smashburger by any means. It tasted like the worst meatloaf I've ever eaten. I've eaten so many burgers in my life because it's one of my favorite foods, and this is genuinely one of the worst burgers I've eaten in my life. We took 1 bite of the sandwich and burger and threw it out and begged DoorDash for a refund. McDonald's would have been better and I haven't eaten fast food in 16 years! The fries were soggy and had a freezer burned taste to them. Literally not one part of our meal was edible. This was the worse experience I've ever had at any restaurant. You may want to blame it on the fact that it was take out and blame DoorDash but this was 100% an execution issue. This wasn't an issue of travel. This was an issue of the food being horribly seasoned and horribly executed. Genuinely one of the worst meals ever. I will never order from this restaurant again. On top of all of it, you have the nerve to charge $60 for this crap!? Disgusting! This isn't even worth $20. You need to seriously review your meals, your kitchen staff, and your pricing if you think you'll be open much longer. Beyond disappointing!! read more

Join me as I review a hidden JEM! First, the decor is impeccable and gives off a Miami Beach vibes in Myrtle Beach. Believe it or not, my boyfriend first spotted the backyard and suggested that we gave this place a try. Of course I was down and boy oh boy was I glad that we did. We decided to grab their Happy Hour deals because we were scheduled to have dinner somewhere else and wanted to enjoy a bit of sun, great ambiance and service-ALL of which we received from start to finish. Now, what would a review be without thanking the hardworking staff for making our first visit memorable-thanks to our waitress Britney! Drinks: Mines- French 75: Gin, Lemon, Bar Syrup, Brut Spumante (menu description) My boyfriend- Old Fashioned: Rye, Bar Syrup, Angostura, Orange Essence (menu description) Hear me well, these bartenders are mixologist and they should be recognized for their ability to provide refreshing drinks without missing a step! My French 75 was everything and my boyfriend said his old fashioned was well prepared!!! Happy Hour food: Ahi Tuna Tacos: Fresh Ahi Tuna, Crispy Wonton, Cucumber, Avocado, Frisée, Micro Cilantro, Ponzu Vinaigrette, and Lemon Aioli (menu description). I immediately gave these 10 forks, 10 knives, a happy tummy twirl, and "I need more!" After the first bite!!! The flavors complimented each other so well and the Ahi Tuna was fresh and ohso delicious! Mussels: Mussels, Tasso Ham, Kale, Tomatoes, Beer Blanc, and Grilled Sourdough. I gave this dish 8 forks and a glass of water. Here's why, the sauce was extremely salty so items more likely to soak it up were less enjoyable. I would say that I loved the mussels, they were fresh! And, the tomatoes and kale were a great touch! The sourdough bread was freshly prepared, soft, and tasty but again, the sauce really had too much salt and a part of me thinks that it might have came from the ham. This is why I didn't give my rating 5 stars. Overall, I truly enjoyed this place and it was a good gamble given that I normally research restaurants ahead of time to prevent myself from getting stuck with bad encounters. This wasn't the case here, the look of the place caught our attention and then the drinks and some food items kept us there! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a date night or time with some friends. read more

I love finding great cocktails. We also did a bit of a tasting of smaller plates: Crispy Deviled Eggs - amazing Salmon Tartare - delicious Asparagus Bruschetta - wonderful Pork Belly Banh Mi - YUM! Service was great... very friendly staff. Ambiance is a bit confusing. It's like a club/lounge but a restaurant. It looks like a fast food restaurant that was converted. I've been to Jem Social a handful of times now, and the food has always been a hit or miss. It's no doubt that the ambience and fun vibe is the selling point for coming here. There isn't another restaurant like this in the surrounding area. Stepping inside of JEM Social takes you out of the casual and laidback world of Myrtle Beach and into an upscale and posh restaurant you may be used to in bigger cities. The best thing about this place are the drinks. JEM probably has the biggest menu of specialty cocktails ranging in various prices. They're all very beautifully presented. You can bound to try more than one during your visit. Right now, they redecorated the entire restaurant with a Christmas. It's pretty darn cute. They also have Christmas drinks which are really good and sounded super unique. We loved the one with egg nog in it. Now here is the bad, half of the food on the menu is subpar and not worth the price. Avoid the fish entrees at all cost. You will be extremely disappointed on the amount of fish they put in the poke salad and in the fish and chips. Fried deviled eggs is just not it. Their Korean fried chicken is not actual Korean friend chicken nor did it have any flavors that come from Korean cuisine. What I did enjoy was the steak entrees, pork chop, and their mussels. The mussels have ham in it so which gives some added depth to the brother that they're served in. Delicious! Duck confit potatoes are also a must. For birthdays, they bring out flutes of champagne for the entire table. Very cute. If you're looking for a place to get dressed up for and have a good time then head on over! I really really really would avoid those food items mentioned above though. read more

We had multiple drinks including under pressure, gold digger, and porn star martini all of which we loved. Food was great too! My burger was excellent. I love the ambiance here! Laid back but fun. I wish I would have gotten some pictures! You'll just have to see for yourselves (; Lots of places to sit inside, and they had a cute outdoor seating area as well. The drinks were great! I had 2 mint complications or something like that. It was like a mojito but better. My husband had the painkiller and enjoyed it! Our service was subpar not great not terrible It was pretty late, so we ordered off the late night menu. We got the tacos and muscles. All was great. I was surprised at the size of the tacos for 15$. They were so tiny. That is the only reason I am giving them a 4 star. I would come here for a few drinks with friends. But not to eat considering the portion size vs price at a bar. read more

I've been passing JEM Social since they opened and never stopped in. We stopped in after a concert for a drink and small plates and my only regret was not stopping in sooner. Possibly one of the best bars in Myrtle Beach. Lauren, the manager, is one of the most attentive people I've ever met. My SIL has a severe citrus allergy and this QWEEN worked so hard to make her something fun and unique. To boot, without even asking if it was necessary, she sterilized all the shaker cups to ensure there was not cross contamination. Beyond that, the food here is BANANAS. Some of the best food on Kings Hwy. They have a happy hour menu that is fantastic bang for your buck. We've only been here this weekend so we're not privy to all the decorations for every season/holiday, but the tiki theme they've got going on this weekend is GREAT. The cocktails are well balanced--more along the lines of a tried and true tiki bar (no syrupy sweetness). I am just so impressed. If I could give them six stars I would. read more
