The server was knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were spot on! We tried a bit of everything as we are visiting from out of town and knew we couldn't just come back and try the other stuff. A bit of heaven in the morning! So glad we came across this spot as the food options and service are top notch. It's a clean and modern breakfast joint with a bit of beach flavor in the decor. I ordered the brisket tacos and here is my hack, order a side of scrambled eggs, hash and salsa so that you can turn them into breakfast tacos! They come with coleslaw so the contrast of the sweet slaw with the tangy and spicy salsa makes it a wonderful combo. The waffles looked and tasted just amazing and the omelette did not disappoint! Hotcake heaven with your choice of toppings makes this spot a great find and gem while visiting this region of South Carolina. You guys definitely have to try this out while in town! read more

Johnny' D'Souza Waffles is located in a former Dennys restaurant. The ding rooms are large and roomy with a lot of room to gather with friends and family. Our waiter was friendly and took our order quickly and gave our drinks right away. In a short amount of time the food was on our table and prepared right. I will start this by saying I love breakfast, it's my favorite meal, so I am hard on breakfast places. Decided to try this as it was next to our resort. When I first opened the menu it was overwhelming, but in a good way. I couldn't believe what a unique and vast menu it had with so many choices I already knew I had to go back to try something else. I settled on the Irish Benedict. It was very good, the corned beef was great on it. The waffles all look great and I look forward to trying them as others in our group had them. I was excited to try Johnny D's again. It's been a long time since we have been here. This place use to be a Denny's so it is large inside. The waitress came right away to get our drink order and to bring us water. Milk for me and orange juice for him. Time to place our order. He ordered the French toast - I ordered the bacon omelet. His French toast looked good but he said it was really tough. He had to cut it with a knife. My omelet was disappointing. I thought it was going to have strips of bacon in it. It looked like bacos in it. My grits were okay but the stand out was the toast. When we were done, we waited a long time for the waitress to bring the check. He actually got up to look for her. I was looking for a place to enjoy brunch/lunch and stumbled upon Johnny D's Waffles. There are several locations and we chose the Surfside one as we figured parking would be less challenging. The menu was very extensive. There's surely something for everyone. Dad had his Lemonade, Hubby had unsweet tea, and I had coffee. Dad was eyeing the 2 Eggs with corned beef hash. Sunny side up for his eggs. Hubby ordered the Twisted Chicken Waffle. I had a bite of the chicken and it was moist and juicy. Hubby said the waffle had bacon so I had to have a bite of that too. Yum! I got the Granola and Fruit Platter. Lots of fruit from cantaloupe, strawberries, and blueberries.The homemade yogurt was so good, I asked for another container. We went here based on reviews so I will add ours. I had two eggs with corned beef hash. Very good in house made hash, large chunks of corned beef with the correct amount of potato and onion to not overwhelm the flavor of the beef. I had their grits on the side, perfectly cooked and creamy. The wheat toast was really good as well, thick slices of lightly textured bread toasted perfectly. Wife had eggs, bacon, a biscuit, and grits. All well prepared and tasty. This restaurant is in an old Pizza Hut building so it has a lot of seating. The downside was the space is loud. Be careful if anyone in your party is sensitive to sound. The noise is the only reason I can't give 5 stars. The service was good, attentive without being overbearing. I ordered the basic breakfast platter which included 2 eggs, (looked like 1 egg), red velvet waffles ( there was an upcharge for that flavor) and turkey sausage (upcharge also because I don't eat pork). The food was okay, nothing to brag about. The waffles were decent; I was hoping for a richer red velvet flavor. The turkey sausage were pretty good and juicy. All together, my meal came out to $20. On my first visit, I ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, Brisket Skillet, and Red Velvet Waffle, and was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional quality and flavor of each dish. The experience was so outstanding that I returned the very next morning to enjoy the Pork Belly Benedict once again, along with the Irish Skillet. Every plate was prepared with remarkable attention to detail, delivering both rich flavor and perfect presentation. As an added delight, I ordered an iced coffee, which was, without question, the best I have ever had. I also appreciate that Chef Jaime is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America--my father is an alumnus as well--which further deepened my connection to the experience. Pro tip--when you are on a short trip and find a place you really like, stop looking and work through their menu. Not to the exclusion of anything else, but ask the locals for any recommendations. Danny D's is strictly breakfast and lunch. Their staff will give you a bit of the local flavor. Vanessa was our server. She was awesome. Every time we went, we requested her. For her, is was a summer job and she is going back to U SC in the fall. Our chances of seeing her again are probably zero, but I commend your staff for hiring an amazing woman. I am not sure how this place got so many good reviews. This place was absolutely disgusting. It states sausage gravy, but taste like onions mixed with water and flour. IT IS NOT SAUSAGE GRAVY, its BACON. Service was horrific, never came back to check on us, never refilled anybody's drinks. Eggs were not made as we ordered and the list goes on. We never even received our check we had to go ask for it 15 mins after we were done eating and the waiter walked by us numerous times. read more

The corned beef hash...double yum! The pork belly...disappointing...it had too much meat, if that makes sense. When you order pork belly, you expect fat, more fat than if you ordered bacon, right? There are only three of these restaurants in the Mrytle Beach area, but if you visit or vacation here do make sure you stop! They are only open for breakfast and brunch since they are only open until 2 p.m. The service is great, staff are really friendly and like their jobs, and the restaurant was clean. They also have a full bar, for those that feel it's 5 O'clock somewhere. The only thing I did not like here was the coffee, which was very bland. read more
