Came here while visiting friends who have a condo in Surfside Beach. Fantastic area with so much to do. We came here because our friend swore by the flatbread pizza. She ordered that and we had the wings, shrimp and grits and the white chicken chili. It was all very good! Service was also good. Ambiance was very nice! Sometimes you need a really good steak. This was our second year visiting Bovine's and it was just as good this time as it was last year. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious and you get a nice view of the inlet marsh. Granted, we usually eat a lot of fresh seafood, when at the beach but, sometimes, you just need a good red meat fix and this is the place to get it. read more

Deceptive advertising at front hostess desk Sunday evening for St. Patrick's Day special on Shepards Pie dinner. They ran out of it by 5:30, we sat down right after that. Although disappointing, my wife ordered a cheeseburger platter and I ordered a seafood platter instead. When my wife went to the restroom, she checked to see if they still had the sign up on the Sheperds Pie dinner and they did. She informed the hostesses the wait staff has to disappoint customers who are asking for that. They rolled their eyes at her and said they would look into it. Management certainly just wanted more business knowing customers would come in expecting an Irish dinner and would just order something else. Next time I'm in the area, will speak to the used car salesman management on their poor unprofessional practices , but done with this establishment. read more

This used to be one of our favorite places to eat while enjoying the beach but not after our last visit. Things have definitely changed and NOT for the good. Here is what we used to come for- great steaks, brick oven pizza, and a really fresh salad bar. But... Steaks - A few of us ordered the ribeye and a couple ordered the strip. These are no longer quality cuts of meat. shoe leather is easier to naw through. And extremely tasteless. Also, my steak looked exactly like the strip steak but I ordered the ribeye. And when I asked if there could be a mistake, the waitress told me I was crazy. No doubt in my mind that it was a strip. Pizza- they used to have a wood fired brick oven pizza that was quiet delicious. They said the oven was broken and that they could cook the same pizza in the kitchen. It is not the same!!! I am sure that it was microwaved. Yuck!!!! Salad Bar - NO LONGER OFFERED. not the largest selection but it was always fresh. This used to be included with your entree but not anymore. And, the pricing of the entree's are still the same. No reduction in price but providing less product. Now you can purchase a small plate of lettuce for $5 - they call this a side salad. One of the quieter spots on the Marsh Walk. The corn pudding is awesome. I've had a few great steaks here, although if you get the filet mignon make sure you tell them not to filet it in half. This has happened twice to me there and the steak was over cooked. They graciously remade it and the remake was great. Service is decent but they could definitely use more help in the kitchen and on the floor to keep up with traffic. One of out fave spots. read more

We were quoted a 30 minute wait time so went to walk down the Marsh Walk only to be called back within 10 minutes (this wouldn't normally be a complaint, but they'd specifically mentioned that the taking a walk down the Marsh Walk would be a good way to kill the time). We all got steaks (ribeyes) that were no better than what I could have cooked at home - and I'm no chef. Mine was undercooked but at least had enough flavor to rise above just being mediocre. Add in the 30+ minute drive from Myrtle Beach, the lack of other things to do on the "Marsh Walk" (it's really just a boardwalk on a swamp connected to a bunch of bars and restaurants) and it just wasn't worth it. Service was good and food came out relatively fast. The fried shrimp were cooked perfectly, but the grilled flounder was just alright. The crab bites should probably drop the crab in name b/c it was mostly breading and lacked crab. My wife had the ribs and they flavor was just off. Thing whatever sauce they use should be switched out, just had odd taste to it. The rest of the party we were with didn't have any complaints and everyone said food was pretty good. When we got to the restaurant, we were seated quickly and, they brought hush puppies to the table to snack on. They were simply the best I ever had. For appetizers, we had Bovine's deviled eggs and loaded Mac-n-Cheese bites. I was not expecting my deviled eggs to be deep fried and, being a bit of a fussy eater, I was skeptical! The first bite changed my tune! They were amazing and the flavor was true. For the main course, I had a New York Strip steak with a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. It was grilled to perfection and the sides were great, too. I'm really not a fan of green beans but, these were actually good! I would rate this at or very near the top of any steak I've ever had. Finally, dessert: There were too many good choices so, I settled on a brownie with ice cream and caramel topping. It was very good but, I didn't go there for dessert. I am not a fan of high top tables, but that is where we had to sit as we dine tonight. Good view. Good service. Average food. I had the salmon. It was just fair. The French fries were very greasy and the mixed veggies were only fair. I had a coco colada cocktail before dinner and really enjoyed it. It was almost like having dessert before the main course. They are known for their brick oven and their pizzas. I think they are probably trying too hard to be too many things to too many people. They should pick their specialty fare and stick with it. My husband and I have not been to Bovines since 2018. It used to be one of our favorites, but we had a couple of inconsistent meals, and there are so many restaurants to try and enjoy in this city. And then there were the covid years... Tonight we returned to a 5 star meal. We both ordered Steak: Rib Eye ( baked sweet potato, creamed corn) and New York Strip topped with bacon wrapped scallops (sauted garlic green beans, pepper jack whipped potato's) . The service was top notch. Attentive, but not pushy or rushed. Perfectly timed pre-dinner cocktails, dinner and dessert. The food was expertly prepared. Perfectly cooked and FRESH. Steaks were nicely seasoned and tender. Side dishes were scrumptious. Definitely not an after thought! The restaurant is a bit noisy. Decor is beach, with a hip modern industrial vibe. Hence....noisy. Frankly our favorite restaurant is (was?) the Aspen Grill. But I might have a new favorite. Casual, but not sloppy. Relaxed. Comfortable. Friendly. Clean. Bright. Modern. Hip. We had dinner here with friends last week. The waiter was very curt and seemed frazzled when we first arrived. They seem crowded for the early bird special. After the crowd thinned out he became more pleasant and Attentive. Friends had the early bird specials. One had the salmon, one had pasta with shrimp, one had Tenderloin. They all seem to enjoy their meals ! I ordered the CIOPPINO for dinner. It was served more like a seafood fra diavolo on top of pasta. Traditional CIOPPINO is served with more broth and bread to sop it up with. My husband ordered the fish of the day which was grouper. The fish was about the size of a deck of cards . It was served with mashed potatoes that were lukewarm and green beans that we're just blah The fish really had no taste. My husband didn't even want to finish it.The price for the grouper was $34.95. I think it was a little steep for what it was. Our friends ordered Chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert which everyone took a taste of and loved. Average too below average food, I ordered the Blackened Shrimp Alfredo Pizza, there was nothing blackened about it look like they put boiled salad shrimp on it after it came out of the wood fired oven and not my order but our table one friend ordered Fettucine Pasta, it had large pieces of plastic cooked in it, it took 10 minutes to find someone to get our waitress for her another 5 for her to get there, after she took it back to the kitchen the manager wasted no time in coming out and apologizing said he had already spoken to the chef and could not understand how he missed that many large pieces of plastic. Three of the 6 of us will have 2 or 3 drinks most of the time we are out because of the service no one had more than then 1. the couple whose wife had the Fettucine did not get charged for it and gave her a free desert they should have picked up the couple's food tab because his wife ate half his dinner, the ambiance was nice till the place next door's band started with heavy bass and it was only 7:30 I could understand the volume after 9. The other couple our friends who suggested Bovines apologized. We all live on Pawleys Island and spend a lot of time at the Marsh Walk but I doubt we will go that far down again. read more

An amazing interior with my favorite garage doors that open to the water! The water y'all. Come for drinks, tell Keith I said hello! The manager Tim was also great for trying to help me out. Now... Let's get to why it's a shit review. The food... I ordered a ceaser salad regular size... They didn't have small. Croutons parked to one side like their waiting for a ride. Um, OK... Salad fine.... But bigger than described. People across the bar laughed because I'd be grazing for days... Now... I ordered a pulled pork CARAMELIZED onion pizza... ffs how hard is it to caramelize onions? Look at my photo and tell me how not caramelized they are. Come on... The photo was try 2... The first was much worse. Not fresh dough, minimal pulled pork and half ass onion. Done... I didn't eat it. Props to Tim for coming by to ask me how it was and agreeing with me... Offered to pay a beer. I always appreciate a place that cares and tries... Whoever the hell this cook is?!
