I actually recommend getting the burgers on a salad rather than the full bun, otherwise it becomes way too much to eat...blasphemy, I know, but if you don't love burgers like me and want to not feel like your arteries are getting clogged, you'll thank me for this. My dining partners got the mac attack, which is mac n cheese on a burger (the mac n cheese was delicious). You can choose what dressing you want on your salad if you opt into a salad. I had the "hot mess", which included bacon, sweet potato fries, and jalapeno. We also shared the peanut butter banana milkshake. The milkshakes are enormous, so I recommend sharing one. It didn't feel overly heavy, but that's probably because three grown adults were sharing one. Usually freak shakes and fancy burgers are all for the gram but this one is different. The burger is tasty and perfectly done what I wanted. I really wanted to like BBC after wanting to try the place for a while; however, I was sadly unimpressed. Burgers range from $11-14 and Freak Frappes at $9-$12. I ordered the Garlic Parm Fries for an appetizer, the Nutella Frappe, and the Kitchen Sink burger. The fries were okay. The meat of the burger reminded me of a fast food patty, a little rubbery and not as flavorful and juicy as a burger should be. The frappe was a highlight. It was prepared beautifully, and I couldn't help snap a few photos. It was pretty good, but the shake was not as thick as I had hoped. Because of the large portions, I took home half of meal. My waitress was phenomenal. She was quick, attentive, and very kind. Since I was dining for one, I gave her a 40% tip because of how wonderful she was. The hostesses, however, were not. I placed myself on the waitlist before coming to BBC, and when I arrived hoping for a table, one asked, "Oh it's just you? You can sit at the bar," gesturing to an awkward and very tight spot between two older men. When I asked if there was another spot, she said, "sure you can follow me," and then stopped while walking to talk to a friend, leaving me awkwardly standing in the middle of the walkway. I felt uncomfortable so I asked to wait for a table, putting me back on the waitlist. During this waiting period, I saw the hostess talk to customers while eating fries with her mouth open and call a waiter over and eat off of the 6 plates of already finished frappes he was clearing. The poor guy seemed like he was going to topple over. I'm kind of picky about service because I've worked as a hostess, a waitress/bartender, and a barista. I understand how tired you are and how hungry you are during a long shift, but some of this behavior was uncomfortable to watch. It's usually protocol to eat food in the back. Amazing food and lively atmosphere. We were a little concerned at first and the restaurant is somewhat hidden by scaffolding above it, but it's worth it. As soon as we entered the hostess greeted us with a warm smile and we were seated right away. There is no Yelp waitlist for Boston Burger so be sure that you arrive with patience. The food is divine and they will substitute whatever on the menu so it is up to your preferences. The employees are welcoming and the restaurant was visited by several National shows on Food Network, which is what drew us to this place. I have been here so many times and I'm not tired of it yet. Maybe when I get through most of the menu, but until then I'll keep coming back. I love the concept and the different varieties of burgers they have and I haven't really had a bad one yet. They are also pretty massive and very filling, you'll leave full and happy. I've had the porkasaurus, the 420 burger, the vermonster, and the artery clogger. So far the 420 burger is my favorite. There's just so much going on with the burger...it's drool worthy. Definitely a must try. I'm not a fan mozzarella sticks so I gave those to my friend, and the burger was still great. The only thing I didn't like was the golden BBQ sauce. I'm not a fan of honey mustard (the sauce is pretty much hm & BBQ sauce combined) but I still wanted to try there burger as it was so I left it on. Everything tasted amazing but the sauce to me was throwing it off so I ended up taking off the rest and the burger got much better. My next favorite would be either the vermonster or artery clogger. I think the artery clogger has the edge just because the burger being beer-battered and deep fried makes it flavorful and delicious. The vermonster you kind of have to be in the mood for it. The first few bites i wasn't sure how I felt about it but then it started to grow on me. It's savory and sweet and the apples and maple syrup work. I added bacon on the burger as well so it just tied the savory and sweetness together so perfectly. It's not one I could eat all the time but if you're feeling adventurous, go for it. My least favorite was the porkasaurus. I was so excited for this one too because it was meat on meat on meat, so me being the carnivorous meat eater that I am was drawn to this. It was cooked nicely like all the burgers have been, but the flavors were muddled and it felt like I was just eating BBQ sauce. So much potential but this one fell flat to me. FYI the fries are potato wedges, and they give you a good amount so it's filling as well. I'd pass on getting the bruschetta again, the pesto mayo was this paste and it wasn't that flavorful. The juices from the tomato also made all of the bottom pieces super soggy so I only really enjoyed the top pieces. The bacon and cheese is good, typical of what you'd expect for bacon and cheese fries so I enjoyed it. The freak frappes are great! I got the boozy apple pie and my friend got the regular strawberry shortcake. Both were delicious. The cake on the strawberry shortcake was so good. My boozy apple pie had hard cider in it so it went perfectly with it. Make sure to stir it a bit when you get it otherwise you'll get all the alcohol at the bottom and it won't taste as good. read more

I ordered a medium rare burger, which was cooked medium well. Happens often, but I generally expect a burger place to not make that mistake. My fiancé was especially happy with her boneless buffalo tenders. We shared some garlic Parmesan fries which were the best part of the meal. Burger here was NOT good, I really don't understand the good reviews. Once again, yelp failed us as we went off the ratings on this app. We stopped in for lunch and ordered their classic burger, we were asked how we wanted the burgers done which was insignificant seeing that the burgers aren't cooked per order, but rather cooked before hand and then seemingly "warmed up". Our burgers weren't pink at all, which is what medium should be, they had no juice as a fresh burger should have. They were dry and lifeless, and just a big disappointment. I also had asked for a side of mayonnaise which the waitress never remembered to bring. The best thing, I guess, were the potato chips which funny enough, neither my husband or I wanted or asked for. I've been working my way through a "Top 50 Foods in Boston" list and stumbled back across Boston Burger Company. Having given up my vegetarian ways for a while, I ventured over to Boston Burger Company for dinner after class one night. I took a seat at the counter and enjoyed the vast selection of burgers. There were a few I wanted to try but the one listed on this infamous "foodie list" blog was the 420 Burger. I usually wouldn't have ordered such a burger but I took the plunge and went for it. The 420 Burger consists of a burger with cheese, topped with an onion ring, bacon, mozzarella sticks, deep fried Mac N' Cheese bites, French fries (the wedge kind), and a sweet golden BBQ sauce. It was overwhelming. There's no way to eat it stacked as it is, unless your jaws open up to 180 degrees. So I nibbled part by part. I don't think eating it whole would have made much a difference in my opinion. Here's my breakdown: the mozzarella sticks were cold in the middle, as if they hadn't been cooked all the way through. The onion ring was also room temperature. The bacon was average and the Mac N' Cheese bites were soggy. Everything on the burger, besides the patty itself, was just "ehh." And nothing seemed to be heated to a proper temperature. The burger meat, however, was juicy and cooked well. I'm left puzzled as to how to review this place but was pleased to find out my burger (originally a $15 burger) was only $4.20. Apparently when you order the 420 Burger between 4:20 and 5:20 PM, you get the burger for only $4.20. I may give the BBC another try, but until I do, I'm left underwhelmed by what I experienced. read more

I had the THE KING, which is vanilla ice cream, bacon, peanut butter and banana. I could barely eat half of it. It was huge, rich and creamy with huge pieces of bacon. The price was fair given the size and they put meticulous care into crafting these babies into the perfect food porn photo. Pro tip: you can get in line on No Wait on the Yelp app...which I highly recommend, because it probably has a minimum 45 minute wait, which this Cleveland girl found out is more like a 1 hour+ wait in Boston time. This branch of the Boston Burger Company is located on Boylston Street in the realm of Berklee College of Music, between Pavement Coffee and JP Licks. It is a deep, narrow space with a bar area against the right wall, high tops to the left front, short tables in the back, with booths between. As a singleton diner, I opted for a seat at the bar and found a hook beneath the counter for my bag. For my dinner, I ordered up the 420 BURGER $14 ~ mozzarella sticks, fried mac & cheese, onion rings, fries, bacon, golden bbq sauce, American. I was early (before 5:20pm on a weeknight), so I scored it for a paltry $4.20. Baked beans or cole slaw? Slaw! It also came with some crispy homemade potato chips. My burger creation was packed. I wasn't certain how I would get it into my mouth... but I managed! And not only that, but I finished the entire platter! Yeah, I'm a bit amazed, especially since I didn't feel uncomfortably stuffed afterwards despite the massive calories I presumably had consumed. Although next time I think I'll try eating it as a cheese burger, with the deconstructed ingredients on the side. From my perch at the bar, I had the pleasure of observing the staff work in tag team fashion as they went through the process of creating several of their indulgent frappes - 3 Oreos at once, and the dessert and drink in one known as Strawberry Shortcake. I voiced my wish that I could order half and half, and they made it happen! The sweet potato fries were good (but were not consistently crisp), but the onion rings were better. And though we sat inside during COVID (due to high wind and cold weather), we were far from other guests and could tell the staff was taking everyone's safety seriously. I went here after seeing it a bunch on social media and recommendations and thought despite the burgers being expensive I would give it a shot. We tried three burgers and all were pretty mediocre. It seemed hastily put together and I was displeased considering how expensive it was. I think we ended up spending $90 for three burgers, a shake, and two drinks. Also, it's constantly busy so be prepared for a wait. Our waitress was as kind as she could be but was clearly overwhelmed by the crowd. One day, I was on the treadmill watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives when I saw Guy Fieri visit a burger joint in Boston that served a mac and cheese burger. As a huge fan of burgers and mac and cheese, I figured this would be my place. I was not wrong. The "Mac Attack" burger at Boston Burger is delicious. I almost managed to finish the entire thing, but it was wayyy too much food. The mac and cheese basically acts as a substitute for cheese, and the bacon adds the perfect amount of crunch to the otherwise soft interior of the burger. Crazy list of burgers with crazy huge frappe! We used the wait list function on yelp and went to the restaurant 40 minutes later.
