Chicken Cutlet Sandwich
Haley H.

Good food just a bit bland. But the bread was soooooo good. Service was good I went to pick it up after ordering on uber.

If we had more time in Boston, we would have come back. If they would have had dinner hours, we probably would have squeezed in another visit. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and we were searching for a casual, affordable lunch option. To the Yelp app I went. Billy's was great. I got the chicken salad sandwich. It was so good and was so fresh. Mike got the ham and cheese sub as a wrap. All subs can be made into wraps. So much food at reasonable prices. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place seemed to be coming off a rush so I was glad we were able to get a spot. If looking for a simple lunch, check this place out!

10/10 food every time, the steak Caesar wrap is amazing! The staff is extremely friendly. This place is a must if you are in the south end

Best chicken salad bagel in Boston! The staff here are beyond amazing and make you feel very welcome. Prices are unreal!! Practically all sandwiches/wraps on the menu are $10 or less. Can't recommend this place enough! They've been open 41 years in the South End, support local!

Between doctor's appointments in the city, I needed a bite to eat but nothing too heavy, just something to hit the spot. I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap with grilled onions, extra croutons, cheese, and dressing (cut in half, of course). My husband and I split it, and let me tell you, it was the bomb.com, fresh, flavorful, and just what we needed. The service was fast and friendly, the price was right, and the vibe was on point. Next time, I'm adding banana peppers for that extra kick. Perfection incoming! Woot woot!

Billy's is such a hidden gem and I wish I knew about it so much sooner! I've ordered takeout from them a couple times now and the service is incredible, food is delicious, and it's reasonably priced. This restaurant feels very old-timey and homey, a real local's spot. What has me hooked is their chicken caesar wrap, which I order with crispy buffalo chicken, which really brings it up a notch. The wrap is incredible and surprisingly filling, with the perfect amount of each ingredient. The fries were nothing special (wish they added some seasoning) but portions were great. I can't wait to try more sandwiches from this joint!

Billy's Sub Shop holds a special place in my heart. My friends and I visited Boston in 2022 and loved this joint. When I recently visited in Oct 2024 I had to go back. This place is a true Boston gem. The food is a diner vibe - bagels, sandwiches, etc., but I think the service and people of Billy's is what makes it so special. You can tell that locals love this place with construction workers and working class people cycling through. It's also one of the only place I've visited that treats its customers as if they're not located in a major US hub - when we ordered out food they told us to pay after we were done eating operating on an honour type system. This place is worth visiting.

Billy's is amazing! The service is so fast. My sandwich was delicious. The veggies were crispy and fresh and roll was so soft and fluffy.

Italian Sub: $20 for a foot long, the meat was so plentiful it's almost overflowing, enough for two meals. The prisciutto was tender and juicy; the salami was firm and savory with a strong smokiness. Both are thinly sliced, so despite the thick stack, it was relatively easy for a bite. The provolone cheese was also generously portioned, with a robust yet not spicy flavor and a subtle nutty aroma, perfectly complementing the two meats. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar were particularly outstanding: mellow, tangy, and with a fruity aroma of grapes, key to the complex flavor profile. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were all fresh, especially the onions were refreshing and a little zingy, perfect for removing the greasiness. Unfortunately, I was worried about not being able to roll it back up properly and making it inconvenient to carry (which it actually happened), so I took it away and ate it at the office. After about 40 minutes, the bread had become somewhat dry and hard.

But I'm actually writing about the company's website and phone recording. Once, on a prior holiday, and today due to a winter storm, I wasn't sure if the restaurant was open. In both cases (where the restaurant turned out to be closed), the website (appropriately) didn't allow online orders, and (more importantly) THE OUTGOING PHONE RECORDING WAS UPDATED WITH CURRENT INFORMATION. In an era where businesses barely have phone numbers to call, or employees who answer with something other than 'hello', is rare (and by the way, this is the fault of management if they don't properly train their staff). THANK YOU FOR HAVING YOUR SHIT TOGETHER IN COMMUNICATING YOUR HOURS TO THE PUBLIC. I, for one, appreciate it.

We ended up having to drop me off at o go in and order and we took our sandwich to go since we couldn't find anywhere to park nearby. We got the pastrami reuben. About 5 minutes later our sandwich came out. I like that they served it in a cardboard box so it doesn't get squished. The sandwich had a good amount of meat and sauerkraut. I was expecting to have the sandwich taste overly salty but it was well balanced. Definitely shareable if you're not starving. Fairly spacious inside with lots of seating. All indoor seating though. I've eaten here before (it's a small area, but does have a lot of seating) but normally I get it as take out. The cafe itself is super casual, it's the perfect place to pop into during lunch or after a walk. My food is always ready on time which is nice, and when I've eaten there I'm usually able to find a seat. The spinach tortellini with the pesto cream sauce is my absolute favorite- it's a HUGE portion and so delicious. It usually lasts me at least 2 meals. The bread they include is also great! I like to dip it in the sauce. The past time I got Dino's I accidentally ordered spinach ravioli instead of tortellini...that was my bad. HOWEVER I think I might have found my new favorite? The raviolis are huge and so fat. I'm talking like 1/2 inch - 3/4 inch thick. There is so much stuffing and the spinach ricotta mix tastes so fresh and delicious...it's a must try. I've also gotten the eggplant parm before, and the fettuccini Alfredo. Both were also delicious. I've never had any of the sandwiches, but if they are anything like their pastas then I'm sure they are great! The bang for your buck here is also great which is nice. Highly recommend! Dinos is awesome! And the staff is very kind too (Note that the pic is taken from a train, I like to treat myself to Dino's before catching the Amtrak)

Prior to visiting Boston, I did my research on things to do and places to eat. Every search for…read morebreakfast spots mentioned Mike & Patty's as a must stop for the best breakfast sandwich you're going to get anywhere. Enough said! I'm a huge breakfast fanatic, especially a good breakfast sandwich or burrito. This is the original location that was started by two friends and has grown to multiple other locations since. We took an Uber here from our hotel. I imagine if you drive over here, parking will be a challenge. It's almost easy to miss. It sits on a corner of a brick building with just writing on the windows. In all my research I did not catch that it is the smallest restaurant in Boston at only 175 square feet. It's basically a room with most of the space taken by the tiny kitchen. There's also a little tiny ledge on the window with a couple of stools for those who may want to dine in. Customers including us took turns walking in and putting in our orders and then stepping out to make room for more people. It had a steady line the whole time we were there. Hours are limited from 7:30-2 so don't delay. Customer service was straight business, kind of the norm in Boston. Their menu is breakfast sandwiches, a couple of burritos and some lunch options like a turkey sandwich, BLT, or a Rueben. For sides, they have hashbrowns or a plain English muffin. For a small menu, they do have quite a few drink options like coffee, tea, juices, and different flavored milks including banana milk which I have never seen. For their food, they use high quality ingredients from local farms and purveyors and have their own bakery for their bread. My eyes fixated on the Breakfast Grilled Crack mainly for the name, but also all the ingredients looked tasty. It was quality eggs, bacon, four cheeses on sourdough bread. I went extra and added sausage to it as well. I also got OJ to wash it down. We realized our only option to eat comfortably was to go back to our hotel lobby to eat. Even with the travel time, the sandwich was nice and warm and the bread was still nice and crispy from the griddle. This sandwich was indeed one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. I almost felt guilty eating it because of how rich and cheesy it was. I would skip the hash brown next time. It did not travel well nor did it have anything special going on with it. Hands down one of my favorite meals of the trip that I would absolutely do again if I am in the area.

When we walked up around 7:30 pm, the outdoor seating on this beautiful day was already full. Good sign to start! Since it was a bit windy, we asked for an indoor table and were brought in immediately, no wait. To quench my thirst, I opted for a Storrow Jam libation- a blueberry, vodka, sparkling water, lemon flavored drink. Absolutely refreshing and well presented! My pal ordered their spin on a Cuban and swapped out the chips for the dill pasta side. He loved it so much that it was gone on minutes. Being a fan of ground meats, I opted for the Hajj, a ground lamb, tzatziki, Mediterranean style sandwich. It was well flavored and large, and came with a side salad. I shared the sandwich with my friend, but agreed that his crispy Cuban was a bit tastier. We ended the evening with a bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream to share. Massive portions! We both enjoyed to our hearts' delight, and the one dessert could have easily been shared with a third person. Our wait staff was so pleasant- friendly and warm from the start. They really made this experience shine! This is quite a pricy spot in the heart of Boston, so be prepared to pay a pretty penny for sandwiches.
