Stools, tables, booths. -- Patty Melt: A bit of a diversion from the classic, with a choice of bread, gobs of bright orange cheddar (odd but doable), and a very moist pile of caramelized onions (very good). I steered it back to mainstream with rye, which was lightly buttered and griddled. Beef ordinary of flavor (neutral), but cooked to a juicy medium rare (pretty good). -- Fries (with the patty melt): Plentiful, dark, extra crisp (overcooked), and with many broken short ones (a half inch or shorter). Went there the other night for dinner. I've been going there on and off for 1520 years. I was a great place to eat so many options. It's like a cheesecake factory menu. It took me like 30 minutes to figure out what I wanted cause I wanted all of it, we settled on the apple fritters as an appetizer unbelievable so tasty there wasn't much apple in it, but it didn't matter my favorite food in the world is fried dough the waitresses, and all the staff there were so friendly, helpful patient just great people. My girlfriend got a tuna melt and looked phenomenal. She loved it. Fries were great as always. I ended up getting their special pancakes that had blueberries in it. The pancakes were great. The blueberries did not compliment it at all, so I didn't really eat much of it, but it didn't matter. It was a great experience. I would recommended for everyone. read more

Solid choice for breakfast! The meals are consistently delicious. The sweet potato pancakes are 5 stars on their own- perfectly moist and sweet with syrup. My bacon and cheddar omelet is always good, breakfast potatoes are perfect. Gets busy but staff does well managing the wait and we've sat at the counter when tables are unavailable. Excellent sour cream pancakes. Real maple syrup is the default, as it should be. I had a side of the Greek sausage, which I wouldn't do again. The flavor profile was just wrong for the pancakes. Inpatient waitress did not hv any patience when taking our order. She offered a box the moment we slowed down prob 30 min into eating. We can not hv a conversation over meal. and were asked to leave after we packed the food because there is a line outside. I hv been coming here for 3 years. The food would be a million stars. The ambiance, a million stars. Typically, our service has been fabulous. I think there was a new person working today- she was pleasant, but she left us sitting at our table forever. She never offered us more coffee, she never checked on us, (and I really wanted to order a pancake. ) We had to flag her down to get the check , after we were sitting with our empty plates and trash stacked for 20 minutes. I have been coming to this restaurant with my family for nearly 20 years, and I have always enjoyed both the food and the service. That is why my visit last week, my first in more than a year, was so disappointing. I came with a friend visiting from California, and from the moment we walked in, the experience felt completely different from what I remembered. We were not greeted when we entered. When we reached our table, a young, unprofessional woman who seemed to be running the show came over and literally threw the menus at us. We were genuinely taken aback. About 30 seconds later, another server came over and asked whether we were ready to order, before we had even had a chance to read the menu. It felt rushed and disorganized. When my coffee arrived, the server spilled it on both the table and the floor near my feet, then walked away without cleaning it up. At the end of the meal, we asked for a box for our leftovers. After waiting about five minutes, my friend finally got up and took one from a nearby shelf while our server was attending to other tasks. I have never left a restaurant without tipping before, but this was the first time I felt the service did not warrant one. I do not know whether management has changed or whether the restaurant was short-staffed for the summer, but the restaurant was only about half full on a mid-August Friday morning, not a particularly hectic brunch period. I hope this was an isolated experience, because I have many good memories of this place and would like to see it return to the standard it maintained for so many years. read more

I had the veggie omelet that had mushrooms, broccoli and onion. It only included two eggs while most places offer a three egg omelet. I knocked down the rating one star for the serving sizes. I had the salad in lieu of hash browns. There seemed like there was sufficient staff to handle the number of people. I did not have any problems with service. They have a lot of regulars that come in, where they knew their names and last orders. The servers were quick and attentive. The moment we sat down, our server came by to get our drink orders. What the heck, this place is amazing. We put our names on the list and were called in about 15 minutes. They took our coffee and food order. We ordered fish and chip, Johnny Cakes, and a Veggie burger. First off you cannot find good johnny cakes outside of RI. These were perfectly made, crispy and an excellent crunch. The fish and chips were sweet and the portion size HUGE. The black bean veggie burger was I am told excellent. Ambiance is perfect for a diner. It is not the Four Seasons. LOL. Consistently inconsistent. Sometimes the food is great sometimes its pretty lousy. Sometimes the service is fast and good sometimes you wait forever and they mess up your order. My go to is the deluxe colossal hungry person special. You get your choice or a short stack of pancakes or French toast, two eggs any style, homefries, toast, a protein, and bottomless coffee for $15. The pancakes and the homefries are my favorite!! They have a ton of seating, but if it's too busy you could always sit at the bar. Regardless it's worth the wait. There is street parking, but that can get hard when it's busy. This is in Watertown so there isn't a train. Love this place! I'd go to this diner so much more if I lived closer. read more

Based on all the reviews I expected much more from this little diner. The place was 1/2 empty for lunch time - should've been a sign... Overall the food was OK. They were out of almost all of the blue plate specials, which my friend from California wanted to go just for them. I had the turkey club - it was incredibly dry and had no flavor whatsoever - the french fries were the best part. My friend had fish n chips and said they were good. The tuna melt that our other friend had was just average. The prices are a bit high for what you get even with inflation. Definitely not a place I will look to come back to. read more

Yes! Give me The Hungry Man Big breakfast! My bf and I came in for brunch Sunday morning and it was very busy, luckily we found seats at the bar. I wanted the works! Pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, coffee and after looking at their big menu I decided on their deluxe big man hungry breakfast which had everything that I wanted. The service was great! I live in Fall River and things are definitely cheaper there. Which makes sense. We're near Boston. I saw Rhode Island johnnycakes on the menu and had to try them. I've always wondered what they are. Dorothy had Over easy eggs cooked to perfection and a bagel so fresh and lightly toasted. Her dish came with thick sausage slices and the most yummy French toast I have ever tried. The home style potatoes were crispy and full of softness and flavor. The order of pancakes did not disappoint I had about 5 bites and agreed that this pancake was by far the richest and most loved I had ever tasted. I had an egg dish covered in cheese with ham and it was my absolute favorite of it all. Hot fresh coffee , amazing personable staff members and Dorothy took a ton of food home to her hubby as well we ate our way through tasting but the serving sizes are way too much. Nice place to grab some sandwiches on the way home. The reuben isn't bad. The interior makes it look like you're at an old timey place.

Stopped here before getting on the road home. Parking can be a chore unless it is Sunday. On Sunday you can park in the bank lot across the street. Food was good, I had pancakes and home fries. The pancakes were great but the home fries were really underdone. This may have been due to how busy they were. Everyone seemed to be enjoying everything!
