Nice neighborhood restaurants in Newton. Generally, everything was great. About a dozen beers in tap. The only disappointment was the guacamole appetizer. The chips were great (I think they were home made), and the guacamole was tasty, it was just a pretty small serving for the price. Our table had 5 different entrees and they were all good. Our salad was unique with lentils and roasted beets. We swapped the mango dressing for a lemon vinaigrette. The half pound burger was cooked perfectly. The home made beef short rib ragu had really good flavor. Overall a very solid dinner. read more

Went here for drinks and appetizers with my friends and it was delicious. The Massachusetts mule cocktails was soo good. We got the orange chicken bites, which were very yummy. We also got the truffle fries - also amazing. We got the Brussels sprouts which were ok, but not my favorite. For dessert, I definitely recommend the gelato. Our server was very kind and funny. It's a big restaurant with a bar and lots of tables including some high tops. I will definitely be back and hope to try the entrees next time! read more

Really impressed with the food here. The Ahi Tuna was amazing. I didn't expect it to be so good. Very refreshing and a must get dish for your appetizer. Chicken nachos were very well done. The chicken was like chicken cutlet which was so must better than the usually chopped up frozen tender most places do to save money. This cutlet was great on top. The chips were high quality too. Everything about the nachos was a win. The mac and cheese was decadent. Bacon on top. They use more like rigatoni style noodles and it works so well. Another A+. Dessert was awesome too. The waiter was really friendly and made the experience even better. The inside looks just like the old The Local that was there. Not much has changed but the it's the food that really has and that's what counts. I would highly recommend this spot in West Newton for crazy good food. read more

We loved our food. Service was excellent. Dad loved the Jambalaya with Shrimp, I loved the carnitas bowl, my wife said her gluten free pasta was a bit too al-denté but otherwise good. My question is why aren't more people here? It was Friday evening and busy but it should be jammed. Good quality food, great drinks. My feedback for the restaurant- the perfume in ladies room air freshener made me feel really sick and almost ruined my appetite. The name of the restaurant doesn't catch anyone's attention? The food was decent but not memorable. We got the Salmon and Chicken Piccata. They were open to substitutions for the sides. The service was good. Prompt and accurate. The waiter did not engage with us in any way other than to take the order and ask if the food was good. And that's totally fine. I thought the place would be really bright based on the photos but it super dark in the middle area we were sat at. Not really the mood I wanted for a Saturday brunch. Having read a fellow Yelper's review on Nine Park, I decided to come here with my family and it did not disappoint! Tuna was delicious and the classic burger was so fresh and flavorful. perfectly cooked at medium rare I absolutely loved it and mind you I ordered the coleslaw as my side and it was so deliciously fresh and crunchy. I really enjoyed my pistachio gelato definitely delicious and very authentic.. I would love to come back here again. It was nice relaxing, gastro pub and nice to see some holiday decorations for the holidays. I love that this is not too far from where I live and I definitely would come here again to try something else. read more

Had lunch with a friend who eats gluten free. The service was very good- he was well versed in the menu. Learned later that the 'server' was one of the chefs. He made some great food recommendations. We both enjoyed wine from their list of many options by the glass. My friend enjoyed her salad. I ordered two appetizers- burrata with prosciutto and ahi tuna. Everything was fantastic in taste and presentation. The menu was diverse- so many different choices. It was quiet during lunch on a very rainy day but we heard that it gets very busy for dinner- sometimes with live music. Can't wait to go back to try the burger and pizza. We entered, and I immediately regretted our decision to eat there. It was a beautiful sunny day, and they had all the shades drawn. All the pictures on yelp were clearly taken by the restaurant on a sunny day with the shades up. With the shades drawn, it was super dark. They have a lot of TVs that you can see from your table, which I hate. The food is mediocre. I had the Santa Fe salad that was overdressed, served with shredded cheese that clearly came out of a bag. Four of visited on Friday evening at 6:30 and restaurant was pretty quiet for a Friday evening. Overall impressions: Atmosphere: Fairly large, pretty restaurant with large bar and many TVs although many of the TVs were showing a replay of Thursday night football game. Acoustics quite bad for such a small crowd. Service: Our server, Owen was pleasant but not around very often probably due to the fact that he may have been the only server due to the restaurant being understaffed. When asked what main dishes he would recommend he gave the "standard" answer..."everything is good." No help there. Food: Table shared the Dumplings which were pretty good but only four small dumplings for $10.95 was not a very good deal. Two ordered burgers and both thought that they were "decent". I tasted the fries and they were pretty good. One had the Chicken Milanese and said that the dish was bland and boring. I had the Shrimp Fettuccini with Scampi Sauce. This came with 5-6 large well cooked shrimp, however, the dish had very little flavor and needed salt, garlic, etc. Very boring, not great. Drinks: My wife got a glass of red wine which looked like a very small pour. I got their version of a Mai Tai which was overly sweet and had little alcohol, if any. Came here on a Thursday early with my family and we were seated promptly. Their soft open just started last night, so we were excited to try their menu. Service with Mateos was excellent, because he checked in on us and was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions. My child's chicken tenders came out a little overdone, but he brought it to the cook's attention and her plate was fixed immediately. I recommend their House Cured Salmon and the Magic Wand (color changing cocktail). The dressing for the Caesar is made upon ordering and the portion was generous. My husband enjoyed his Steak Frites with a side of garden salad. The ambience is great for a date night or to bring your family since they have a kid's menu. However, their song choice could use some improvement. We heard some lewd words playing overhead while we were eating, so I felt like I was at a club instead of a restaurant. read more

Had an outstanding lunch here today. First off, the food was outstanding. Each person in my group ordered a different salad and everybody was raving about them. Secondly, our server, Joel was amazing! He couldn't have been more nice. He told us all about the area, his kitchen team, his fellow staff members, and how great the ownership was. I just moved to Boston from the SF Bay Area and a friend recommended I come here when I mentioned I was looking for burgers/American food but maybe a little more upscale/less divey (ie. quality, variety but still approachable and decently affordable if you know what I mean lol). I had the burger but was really tempted by the salmon, the fancy pizzas (big fan of fig, brie, pear etc on a flatbread), and the pear/brie arugula salad - so that'll be next time. Had the white wine/Pinot grigio. The breakdown: Atmosphere - modern, hip casual, social Food - good quality, good variety for options and flavors (can find something for everyone be it fish vs red meat vs chicken vs vegetarian, lighter fare vs maybe more filling dishes). Drink - same deal, good mixture of beer, wine, cocktails. (Also I'm normally very prone to cluster headaches from wine so it's kind of like playing Russian roulette every time but my Pinot grigio didn't cause any issues so I recommend that for my fellow headache sufferers lol) Service - wonderful (I'd also like to thank the patron who found my phone in the bathroom and returned it to the bartender/server! Good to know it's a safe/trustworthy town!) Price: I think it fit the bill perfectly for the quality of the food, service, venue and location. I sat at the bar, ordered wine and a burger. It was one of the best burgers I have had in a while. It was perfectly cooked (medium) and the ingredients used for topping were of great quality. My server was an older gentlemen who was slow and left me waiting, but it was also an early dinner so it was fine. A female worker came in halfway through and got it in order in no time. I've been to Ninebark twice recently and I'm loving it. Excellent food, higher than average quality and a more imaginative menu than most American restaurants. As for the service, the staff is super friendly, competent, and aims to please. Service was a bit awkward and not handy bringing in food - needed help from us delivering the plates correctly to the table. The sea mussels were very tender and nice.
