Went on a Friday night with reservations. Seated quickly where we requested. Great service and drink order & apps, chicken wings, were fantastic. Of the two entrees we ordered the chicken was the better choice. I've had bolognese many places and this entree was underwhelming. Also the music selection was an interesting choice for the establishment, hard rock was playing, not really adding to the ambience. Here's the deal, the food is consistently good however attitude needs an adjustment and seriously you have to put your name in for bar seating, we did just that then proceeded to watch newer patrons get seats ahead of us. We ended up leaving and walked over to 21 North a block away. Great food, friendly people and zero attitude. read more

I've been to Avenue a few times now and like it very much. It's a bit of a drive (from home), but as it happens, it's a good half-way point for dinner out with some friends who live southwest of Medfield. Reservations are essential here. Every time I've visited, it's packed! I suppose that's partly due to the fact that it's probably the best dining out spot in Medfield; but also because the food, the service and the setting (a former hardware store downtown) are top-shelf. Speaking of top-shelf, the bar is on the small side but it's an option if you can't get a table and can squeeze in there. Note that that area of the restaurant is rather crowded and louder than the back half of the dining room. No pictures this time, but our party of 4 really enjoyed our entrees -- and our appetizers, too. There were several imaginative cocktails on the menu, and the "right" kind of white wines for our companions on the wine menu. There's no doubt "Avenue" will remain our go-to spot when meeting friends southwest of where we are. read more

We had a date night with friends here... they have fun cocktails (wife got the cranberry bog) and a good scotch/bourbon list. The wait staff was helpful and attentive. He has suggestions and staff favorites. Food came out hot and on time. He did not rush us and the food was good. The Buratta salad was amazing but my swordfish special was just ok. Wife had mushroom pizza and it was huge! Two people could have shared. The other couple had steak special and she loved the double butter mash potatoes. Food phenomenal, service friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and attentive, prices reasonable for an upscale venue. However, and this isn't unique to this place but I saw someone stick their hand in the sliced lemon jar to get a lemon to place in a drink (not a bartender, but another staff person), glasses being placed by the rim, dirty dishes being taken away then drinks delivered without sanitizing if hands. In this day and age I'm frankly tired of seeing these behaviors. In a place with entrees being over 30$ please train your staff to be hygienic. It's not rocket science. This is how germs are spread and people get sick unnecessarily. Would definitely return but hope for better hygiene practices. read more

We came to celebrate my dad's birthday a few nights ago. The waitstaff was exceptional, Chris and David were the best! Very attentive service despite how busy it was. The drinks and food were great, too. I had the Aristocat which was delicious. The bacon and arugula flatbread and bucatini pasta were top notch. My dad's salmon was a bit bland and the steak frites had a small portion of steak for the price. However, still one of the most decent meals I have had in the area in awhile. I can't wait to go back. You definitely need a reservation. The restaurant was completely full until closing time and the bar is rather small so not a ton of room to wait over there. There were so many people I was expecting to wait a while for the food, but it came out quickly and the server was attentive. The food was very good! Love the light wood burning smell when you walk in. Just enough aroma to make you hungry but not enough to worry you will smell afterwards. We had a lovely dinner with another couple on Thursday, May 19th, with Chris as our waiter. We had the mussels and the Green Goddess salad to start. The salad is large enough to share with two people. Our friend had the sirloin steak as an entree which was the special and it was outstanding and cooked perfectly. I had the chicken entree which I have had before and took half home since it is a large portion, and it was excellent. My husband had the baby back ribs and this was terrific too. One friend is dieting and she had the BLT salad with grilled shrimp on it. We all tried a few bites of the butterscotch brownie with ice cream which was phenomenal! Chris did an excellent job getting us drinks, and the host and hostess at the front were very welcoming too. We have been here before but it has been about a year. We will be back! My wife and I walked in around 5:15p on a Friday evening. We were able to be seated right away, and were served by Jenna and Ben (in training). The service was fantastic and they were very attentive. The restaurant itself had a very nice ambiance and seemed to be kept very clean. For food we split the peaches and burrata for an appetizer, and then for mains I got the lamb biryani and my wife got the bucatini. The food came out well, no complaints there. Avenue is fancy food that tastes great. If you're like me and just want a bespoke night out with your girl try splitting an app and a very good main in order to save some room for dessert. Avenue has friendly service and the food came out fast. They are always willing to make adjustments based on allergies or dietary restrictions. They might have changed the rolls lately, because I remember they had amazing brioche a few years back, but at my latest visit they provided a hard hotel type of roll. The burrata cheese with basil marinated heirloom cherry tomatoes with grilled peasant bread was fantastic for an app! Highly recommend that goodness. The slow cooked ribs over potatoes and roasted carrots was hearty and divine. It was tender meat that fell apart, sweet carrots, and incredibly smooth potato mash. We shared this entree and it even came out of the kitchen in two plates, which was a very nice touch considering it's $33 price tag. The desserts are all incredible, the chocolate cake with covered in chocolate lava type sauce with ice cream is indulgent and satisfying. The Blondie is also wonderful as well! Usually I get a flat bread pizza with wine but it was nice to ball out a little bit and get the entree. So two glasses of wine, app, entree, and dessert, with tip, about $105. read more

The first thing I noticed upon entering Avenue was the cacophony. The volume of the other patrons was at the highest possible decibel, piercing my ear drums like an ice pick. I'd highly recommend not going to Avenue with people with whom you like to converse. As for the food, four out of five of us loved our meals. Unfortunately, the caesar salad had zero flavor and warrants only one star. The grilled chicken that accompanied it was amazing, though - perfectly cooked and seasoned. Next, the AC in this restaurant needs an upgrade. It wasn't as hot inside as it was outside, but it was still unpleasantly hot and humid. Lastly, the service. All the staff we encountered were most friendly and helpful. I bumped my rating up from a 1 star to 2 because of the great service. Our server was new, still in training. But she couldn't have been more professional, friendly, and accomodating! Kudos to both her and her trainer. I may try this place again on a cooler day at lunch time to see if it deserves a second chance, but for now, I'm very disappointed. read more

Another great night at Avenue. I will focus on staff this time, we had Ben. We have to say he was one of the best waiters we have had in a while. He was extremely attentive and personable without being overbearing. It was Valentine's Day, so he made sure that we were able to enjoy each other, but always came at the most opportune time to make sure everything was going right when we asked him questions about the food or drinks. He was very knowledgeable, gave us his personal opinions, but allowed us to make our own choices, the manager Mark also checked in on us at the beginning and midway through our meals to make sure there was nothing we needed. This is also a big plus showing that CUSTOMER SERVICE is one of their main priorities. I will also, of course rant about the food my wife had the chicken Parmesan, which came in a beautiful Bolognese sauce on perfectly cooked chicken, and a very large portion . I had the veal Bolognese and it was also extremely tasty loaded with veal just enough sauce to complement.. although we were full, we had to have dessert because it was Valentine's Day so we went with the butterscotch brownie dessert. We enjoy a dinner at Avenue two or three times a month and have been going for the last few years. We typically cozy up to the bar where we're met by friendly and smiling bartenders. The draft beer selection is small, but it rotates regularly and is always a diverse set of craft brews that the bartenders can tell you everything about. The mixed drinks are delicious as well. If you're looking for simple and delicious, you can't go wrong with the Avenue Burger. It's always been cooked exactly as I've asked and there's a decent portion of fries along side. The flat bread pizzas are always near the top of my list as well. There's also always an awesome special that changes out regularly and I've had some pretty epic pork chops and chicken dishes here. Mark, the manager, can always been found checking on guests or helping get food to the tables quickly. Great place for date night (try and grab the high top by the window!) or just a nice dinner and a few drinks at the end of a long work week. read more

This restaurant is a gem! The outside facade is so cute. It reminds me of a combination of the best of 1950s America, a pinch of 1920s France, melded together with a contemporary aesthetic. It felt delightful. I had steak frites and my associate had pan roasted Scottish salmon. Both tasted great. They adequately salted the fries as well. The service was excellent. The hostess and waitress were attentive and polite. The ambiance was amazing. It has a chic feel to it with a real flame on each table. You can watch the staff cook your food in the open kitchen area. They offer desserts too - although I wasn't able to take them up on that offer recently. The service was prompt. The seats were comfortable. You can also hang out at the front next to the bar should you wish. Reservations can be made online or by phone. The bathroom was clean with soft high end paper towels in an easy to acces tray next to the sink. It's obvious that the owners pay attention to detail.
