Always great to see new restaurants in Newton. Had the chance to try this out in person with family. Was very good quality and service. Apps: Ahi tuna tataki (fantastic) Nachos (added chicken, great but maybe too much chicken, loved chips) Meal: Beef Short Ribs Ragu (good)

Really impressed with the food here. The Ahi Tuna was amazing. I didn't expect it to be so good. Very refreshing and a must get dish for your appetizer. Chicken nachos were very well done. The chicken was like chicken cutlet which was so must better than the usually chopped up frozen tender most places do to save money. This cutlet was great on top. The chips were high quality too. Everything about the nachos was a win. The mac and cheese was decadent. Bacon on top. They use more like rigatoni style noodles and it works so well. Another A+. Dessert was awesome too. The waiter was really friendly and made the experience even better. The inside looks just like the old The Local that was there. Not much has changed but the it's the food that really has and that's what counts. I would highly recommend this spot in West Newton for crazy good food.

Having read a fellow Yelper's review on Nine Park, I decided to come here with my family and it did not disappoint! Tuna was delicious and the classic burger was so fresh and flavorful. perfectly cooked at medium rare I absolutely loved it and mind you I ordered the coleslaw as my side and it was so deliciously fresh and crunchy. I really enjoyed my pistachio gelato definitely delicious and very authentic.. I would love to come back here again. It was nice relaxing, gastro pub and nice to see some holiday decorations for the holidays. I love that this is not too far from where I live and I definitely would come here again to try something else.

Had lunch with a friend who eats gluten free. The service was very good- he was well versed in the menu. Learned later that the 'server' was one of the chefs. He made some great food recommendations. We both enjoyed wine from their list of many options by the glass. My friend enjoyed her salad. I ordered two appetizers- burrata with prosciutto and ahi tuna. Everything was fantastic in taste and presentation. The menu was diverse- so many different choices. It was quiet during lunch on a very rainy day but we heard that it gets very busy for dinner- sometimes with live music. Can't wait to go back to try the burger and pizza. Metered street and lot parking.

Came here on a Thursday early with my family and we were seated promptly. Their soft open just started last night, so we were excited to try their menu. Service with Mateos was excellent, because he checked in on us and was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions. My child's chicken tenders came out a little overdone, but he brought it to the cook's attention and her plate was fixed immediately. I recommend their House Cured Salmon and the Magic Wand (color changing cocktail). The dressing for the Caesar is made upon ordering and the portion was generous. My husband enjoyed his Steak Frites with a side of garden salad. The ambience is great for a date night or to bring your family since they have a kid's menu. However, their song choice could use some improvement. We heard some lewd words playing overhead while we were eating, so I felt like I was at a club instead of a restaurant.

I just went at the Ninebark with my family. I got wings with buffalo sauce. I ate 10 wings, then it gave me a good hot. And that was enjoying for good foods.

Drinks. Mocktail cost more than sangria

I decided to give it a try since it was only nine minutes away from where I was. When I walked in my child and I were immediately sat, and my child was provided a kids menu. My child went with the pasta and butter, which is her favorite dish from anywhere. I had the pan roasted chicken and a white sangria and for dessert we shared a caramel brownie cheesecake. This restaurant is big and spacious. It was very busy and seems to be a popular restaurant in that area. Our waiter was extremely friendly, patient and attentive. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Spaghetti and Butter ($12): 10/10 Pan Roasted Chicken ($27): 10/10 White Sangria ($14): 10000/10 Caramel brownie cheesecake($13): 1/10 (we didn't like it at all)

They have the option of take out too! We got a couple appetizers to try & each got a different ramen. Here's what we ordered: APPETIZERS - chicken karaage - okonomiyaki-styled tater tots - green papaya salad RAMEN - miso ramen - spicy miso ramen - chef's ultra ramen - spicy tan tan ramen Thoughts: I thought the appetizer portions were pretty generous! A lot more than we were all expecting. I was pretty much already full before the ramens came out. Wasn't a big fan of the green papaya salad. It was missing some flavor. We all thought that it would be better if it had some tomatoes & garlic. Didn't seem like they used a mortar to ground the aromatics or anything, since the sauce just tasted like fish sauce and lime. The chicken karaage was okay. Wish there was more sauce to dip the chicken with. Chicken was also on the drier side. The tater tots were the best appetizer of the three we ordered, IMO. If you like takoyaki balls, you'll like this because it has similar sauces + bonito flakes. Ours needed some salt though. As for the ramens, I personally had the spicy miso ramen. It was missing a lot of depth in the broth that I would've liked to see (& taste). I didn't taste any miso to be honest. Salt was needed too. The highlights for the ramen were the chashu & corn. I loved that they used fresh corn! The chashu had the perfect amount of fattiness & almost melted in my mouth. The noodles were nice and chewy. The broth was just disappointing though. For the other ramens, everyone enjoyed the one they ordered. I tried a little of the chef's ultra ramen & the broth was much better than my spicy miso. Btw, the spicy miso ramen is not spicy at all for anyone who is hesitant & cannot do overly spicy foods. The food was a bit disappointing for me. I came in with high expectations with all the good reviews I read beforehand. Not terrible but not great.

The food is lackluster for the price, an $18 bowl of clam chowder should knock my socks off, but it didn't. The fish and chips were severely over-breaded, they don't have malt vinegar in the bottle, a thimble full is supposed to suffice. They attempt to give gargantuan orders of fries to appease the mediocre preparation of the main entree. Get an UBER or go across the street to Buffs, but by all means do not waste your time and money at this establishment. Service at the bar was adequate, but the food overwhelmed the experience.

Come here for a social event? Perhaps? Expecting reasonable service is unlikely to be realized. The…read moreservice was poor and the minimal food I had access to was fair at best. I attended an event being held at this restaurant and was surprised and disappointed in the restaurant. The networking event itself is not being reviewed here. So where to start... accessing the restaurant was a bit of a nightmare. The garage (parking is $4-24) was the only place to park and the elevators were out of order and the garage was dimly lit. It was frankly not safe. The driveways were partially blocked for construction which I had to navigate around as a pedestrian. This is not realistically accessible for those who have mobility limitations (the temporary attempts at ramps are not usable with a wheelchair). I was given beverage menus after arrival. They were extremely hard to read as the lighting was turned down. I did manage to read it when I put the menu directly under a pendant. The beer and wine selections looked interesting! I was looking for something non-alcoholic and there was no water readily available nor offered. There were a few (maybe 4) mocktails on the menu-they looked interesting so I got one that resembled a mule (ginger beer based). I ordered one so I wouldn't be empty handed as I talked with people, especially at a networking event. The server gave it to me and made a point of saying "here is your mocktail" (which itself is not unreasonable; referring it by its name or "beverage" is much more appropriate in those circumstances as the drink type and alcohol content or lack thereof is not anyone else's business). The food menu never appeared. The appetizers that were left out for the group were picked over and unappetizing. Cold fried calamari that has been sitting out? No thanks. A cheese and cracker board with no crackers and no serving implements? No thanks. There were two flatbreads there-I had a small square of each and these were ok. About 15 minutes before the event was scheduled to end the server asked me if I wanted another mocktail. I responded with an affirmative. I assumed he had canceled the order as the event ended. As I was getting ready to leave when the event ended (I had my jacket on at that point and he had validated my parking!), he brings over the mocktail and says "here is your mocktail" and sets it on the high top table where it just sat as I left for home. I have no idea if he charged the hosts for the beverage. I left hungry. I left a bit thirsty. I left surprisingly frustrated at the restaurant. When I arrived home, I made myself dinner. Fortunately, I enjoyed meeting new people as the event itself was interesting.

Bonus points for an extravagantly laminated menu that has pictures of every single dish rendered in uber-colorful detail. We got the: papaya salad with shrimp; chicken satay; crab fried rice; pad thai; and mango sticky rice. More than enough food to feed two people, including a little bit for leftovers the next day. The crab fried rice - please, please get this. I'm usually not a fried rice person, as my parents taught me long ago that rice is just filler and must be avoided at all costs at the buffet line, but their crab fried rice is stellar. Loaded with generous chunks of real crab and so flavorful, with the smokiness of the wok permeating through. I also usually skip the pad thai at any Thai restaurant but I loved this rendition, beautiful balance of sweet and salty, and with all the necessary accoutrements, like chopped peanuts and a squeeze of lime. I would say the chicken satay is maybe a skip but it comes with an incredible peanut sauce that I love to slather on top of everything. Mango sticky rice: eh, it's not the season for mango. The one that came with ours was definitely a bit anemic and limp. The warm sticky rice covered in condensed milk with the faintest tinge of pandan green was good enough to eat on its own. They're really busy so not the best place to sit and talk with your friends all evening. Also not a lot of street parking on a busy street. I suggest walking or taking the bus over. Need to order the fried fish next time. You know a Thai place is excellent when I'm lured away from my beloved green curry to try the other options.

The interior was dimly lit with exposed brick walls and sports on the TV screens. For drinks, I chose the 1, 2, 3, 4 mocktail. This was one of the best mocktails of my life! The refreshing early grey really balanced out the tangy mango cold foam with tajin. They had a substantial non-alc and low ABV menu, which I love to see. For food, we ordered a bunch of plates to eat family-style. Our server had recommended the Pickled Mushrooms, which I thought were just alright. My favorite item was the Burrata with gooseberries, and the Caramelized Onion Dip was pretty good, as well. I was really unimpressed with the Fried Polenta, which had the skimpiest topping of braised short ribs. The vibe is cozy and welcoming--no-frills décor, but thoughtfully laid out with a nice mix of low tables, high tops, and a long, inviting bar. It was fairly empty at first but became more lively as people trickled in. The staff really stood out, especially our server Sarah, who was warm, knowledgeable, and took the time to walk us through both the food and cocktail options without rushing us. As an extra touch, Chef Steve came out to our table to chat and describe a few of the dishes, which made the experience feel personal. Food highlights: * Firecracker tofu - perfectly fried cubes tossed in a hot-sweet Korean-style sauce; addictive. * Grilled broccoli - smoky, well-seasoned * Butternut squash soup - smooth and flavorful, elevated by roasted, ground squash seeds and a subtle curry note. * Polenta with short ribs - rich and balanced. * Smoked bluefish pâté - excellent texture though a little salty for my taste. Drinks: * Also Fancy - bright and fruity, but not overly sweet. * St. Peter's Bay - think mezcal meets Old Fashioned. * Bonus points: I asked for a custom gin gimlet, and the bartender delivered a fresh, mint-forward version that was amazing. Tall Order is a great neighborhood spot that's doing everything right. We'll absolutely be back.
