I am usually a vodka martini girl but this gin martini is just SO good. They got new martini glasses since the last time I ordered this drink and I'm obsessed with the new presentation. My martini arrived in a tall narrow martini glass and the "extra" was served in a chilled mini carafe. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHEN RESTAURANTS DO THIS. It makes the drink feel a little bit fancier and helps keep the drink fresh. It also makes you feel as though you are getting two drinks for the price of one . We sat at the bar per usual and shared the half nachos (+ candied jalapeños and chicken). We love the way their nachos are served and honestly the portions are huge and very generous. We couldn't even finish the half nachos between the two of us! The nachos are always LOADED and have such unique flavors. My favorite cocktails at Bourbon's are: Saturn (not currently on the menu but they are typically still able to make it), Clear Intentions (clarified Mai Thai with the most incredible flavor profile) and Freezer Door Martini. 10/10 recommend all 3 of these but honestly you can't go wrong with any of their cocktails.

I've been wanting to visit Ken's Steak House for years. It's an old-school, well-known Framingham…read moreinstitution with a lot of history, so I went in with pretty high expectations. I'll give you the good and the bad. First, the waitstaff were excellent, and Alex behind the bar in particular was awesome. Drinks came out quickly, he was attentive, had a great sense of humor, and genuinely made the evening fun. I could have Alex wait on me all night. The hostess I spoke with was also lovely and very helpful. Management, however, could use some work. I was speaking with a waitress at the hostess stand about their Sunday hours because the information online was confusing. While she was actively helping me, a manager standing nearby shouted at her to answer the phone. My immediate thought was: why don't you answer the phone? She's standing here engaged with a customer. To her credit, she handled it professionally and never lost her composure. Now the food. I started with the prime rib and unfortunately it was terrible. It came out barely room temperature and reminded me more of cold roast beef than something I would expect from a famous steakhouse. I ate maybe 20% of it before giving up and ordering the New York strip instead. The New York strip completely changed things. It was prepared perfectly, with an excellent sear and a true medium rare exactly the way I ordered it. Very good steak. I was a little surprised that Certified Angus Beef is the standard rather than USDA Prime at a steakhouse with Ken's reputation and history, but I'll give credit where it's due: the strip was very good. And I'm not just someone who likes eating steak -- I've spent a significant part of my career in the meat industry. A couple of smaller things bothered me because consistency matters at a restaurant like this. Both the woman sitting next to me and I ordered salads described on the menu as having tomato wedges. Instead, we received bland cherry tomatoes. Alex even joked about it. The rest of the salad was good -- classic iceberg, purple onion and their steakhouse dressing -- but if the menu says tomato wedges, serve tomato wedges. Same thing with dessert. We ordered a chocolate fudge dessert that was described to us as being served in cast iron. It arrived on a regular white plate. Is that a huge deal? No. But when you're an established, nostalgic steakhouse, those little details and traditions are part of what people are coming for. All in all, I had a nice evening. The New York strip was very good, Alex and the waitstaff were terrific, and I met some genuinely nice people at the bar. The place has a comfortable, old-school feel that made for a fun Sunday night dinner. There's a lot to like about Ken's. I'd just like to see the food and management live up more consistently to the history and reputation of the place.

Went here on New Year's Eve around 4:00 pm…read more Great location, right on the west-bound side of Route 9, and has plenty of parking. I think we were either at the Early Bird Special, or in the group of people who hate New Years Eve partying and all that Bally-hoo, but we were definitely the youngest folks there besides those who were working! Started with the standard Ken's Garden Salad. Top shelf. Nothing bad about this whatsoever. Ice cold, lettuce, tomato, onions, and a most wonderful light dressing. The salad alone would be worth the trip, and I mean that sincerely. We each had a 10 ounce steak. Of course there are all sorts of meats and cuts till get, but red meat is really not my preference whatsoever. That said, I feel silly ordering Fisk or chicken at a steak house - as they say, when in Rome. Nicely prepared, medium, with mushrooms on the side and green beans. Very well done. A compare and contrast, to Davio's. I'd give the edge to Davio's for a more modern menu with a wider array of options. Pricing, I'd say Ken's wins. Upper crust/Downton Abbey feel goes to Davio's. Nostalgia and old friend, Ken's. My takeaway - both are very good. Pricing, product, venue, and the people are what makes Ken's special. Highly recommend a trek. No negatives whatsoever.

This was our first time going since it had opened as the Fireside Tavern. It is fair to say we were underwhelmed. My wife ordered a Dirty Martini and it had a lot of vermouth in it which is not the correct way to prepare it. For an appetizer we got the Calamari which was very good. Crispy and tender with delicious hot peppers added in as well. For the main courses we got the Chicken Piccata severed over Gnocchi which was good but nothing special. Gnocchi were a bit denser than we like. Our other main was the Seafood Paella. On the plus side it had a lot of seafood in it, mussels, Shrimp, Scallops and a white fish. All of the sish was cooked well and was tender and juicy. However it did not appear to be cooked in a Paella pan so you didn't get some of those bites of crispy rice and the seasoning was off it had no saffron or tomatoes like I am used to. It was more like a plain rice that they added peas, carrots, and red pepper. Just didn't taste like any form of the paella that I have eaten previously. Jenna our server was awesome and attentive but not overbearing. She was fantastic and made for an enjoyable evening.

Lockheart is a Latin inspired restaurant in Boston with a creative menu and a relaxed atmosphere…read morethat makes it work equally well for a casual lunch or a longer dinner with a group. We walked into a space that is comfortable and notably quiet for its size, which made it a good option for larger parties or anyone who wants to actually have a conversation without competing with the room. Live music downstairs adds a different dimension to evening visits, and the kitchen stays open until midnight, which makes it a reliable option when other spots have already closed. The nachos are the standout order and the dish most worth building your visit around. They came out loaded and well constructed without collapsing into the pile of soggy chips that ruins most nacho plates. The smash tacos are worth ordering across a few different fillings to get a sense of what the kitchen does well, and the birria tacos in particular have built a following for the depth of flavor in the braised meat and the accompanying consommé for dipping. We tried a few of the other taco options, and they landed on the milder side in terms of seasoning, which was a bit of a letdown compared to the birria. The portion size relative to price also felt a little small on some plates. The ceviche was decent but benefited from some additional flavor, so adjusting expectations on that particular order makes sense. Service was attentive and the pacing of the meal matched the relaxed atmosphere of the room. The staff knew the menu well and offered thoughtful recommendations without being pushy. For a Latin restaurant in Boston that delivers on atmosphere, late hours, and a few standout dishes like the nachos and birria tacos, Lockheart is a solid option worth keeping in mind for a group dinner or a late night meal.
