Came to Thonglor for a late lunch, unfortunately too late to eat in the restaurant but they were kind enough to allow us to order takeout. We were very hungry, and so the two of us ordered the chive dumplings, panang curry, papaya salad with shrimp, and pad seuw with tofu. The chive dumplings are not what you might expect from the word dumpling, but very much worth a try -- it's chive and rice, formed into cubes and fried, that you dip into a sweet thick soy sauce. A lovely appetizer! The papaya salad is nice and crunchy -- not as spicy as I typically like it, but solid and quite flavorful. The pad seuw was delicious, with generous amounts of tofu. The panang curry was nice as well, with moderately tender beef. Would definitely try eating in some other time, as the restaurant seems cozy and the cocktail menu is intriguing. read more

Super good and strong flavors here!!! Such a good Thai place and the menu is so cute, I love being able to see all the dishes and not just read the names. The meat is always cooked perfectly and all the sauces pair with each other well. Prices are good, I've paid much much for worse quality food. Wish the interior was larger because it can get a bit crowded and you might get sat a little too close to comfort with other tables (I was bumping elbows with strangers sometimes!). Picked up takeout here and it was good. The prices were very reasonable for Thai food. Most of the menu items ranged from 16-22$. Standouts were the pad see ew and curry puffs. The pastry on the curry puffs was really flaky and had a flavorful filling. Green curry was also good. read more

Love Thonglor! I have this odd sense of pride whenever I pass Thonglor because I see them doing so well to have expanded into a sister noodle joint, Sen Yai Thai, on the same block - you know a place is beating the hunger-game restaurant odds when there's a wait for both places on a weekday night. Bonus points for an extravagantly laminated menu that has pictures of every single dish rendered in uber-colorful detail. We got the: papaya salad with shrimp; chicken satay; crab fried rice; pad thai; and mango sticky rice. More than enough food to feed two people, including a little bit for leftovers the next day. The crab fried rice - please, please get this. I'm usually not a fried rice person, as my parents taught me long ago that rice is just filler and must be avoided at all costs at the buffet line, but their crab fried rice is stellar. Loaded with generous chunks of real crab and so flavorful, with the smokiness of the wok permeating through. I also usually skip the pad thai at any Thai restaurant but I loved this rendition, beautiful balance of sweet and salty, and with all the necessary accoutrements, like chopped peanuts and a squeeze of lime. I would say the chicken satay is maybe a skip but it comes with an incredible peanut sauce that I love to slather on top of everything. Mango sticky rice: eh, it's not the season for mango. The one that came with ours was definitely a bit anemic and limp. The warm sticky rice covered in condensed milk with the faintest tinge of pandan green was good enough to eat on its own. They're really busy so not the best place to sit and talk with your friends all evening. Also not a lot of street parking on a busy street. I suggest walking or taking the bus over. Need to order the fried fish next time. You know a Thai place is excellent when I'm lured away from my beloved green curry to try the other options. read more

See my first review over three years ago. Have been ordering for deliveries all throughout and finally recently dined in again. Here are some comments and suggestions for improvements. To do better, of course. Employees should stop gossiping about customers or making sarcastic facial expressions/gestures toward one another about the customers -- e.g., "They're still taking their time on the menu", I told you so, these customers are clueless, who's, not sure why they're not ready to order yet! etc. I like the Sen Yai Thai Restaurant next door a lot better. Amazing local Thai spot! They have some dishes that aren't a common find on most Thai joint menus. I will just say that some of the dishes were a touch in the sweet side so if you're glucose sensitive watch out for that. This is the best Thai I have had since moving to Boston. Got lunch here today with a friend who has been settled in the city for over 10 years and he decided on this spot. Service was not anything crazy but decent, the ambiance is a pretty no nonsense, easy going place for people to eat, and the food is the focus (which is the best part). I got the green curry which was thick, spicy, creamy, and packed with flavor. The chicken, bamboo, bell pepper, and green beans were standard.. but the standout and the reason I am giving this place 4 stars is the curry. Do yourself favor, come here, and get some. We try Thai everywhere we go and this place deserves a 9.2. I will always drive out of Boston to eat here. Every trip to New England must have this restaurant on its itinerary. We had the steamed rice, pad see ew noodles, beef salad, and Tom yum soup. To drink we had Thai teas. Everything was phenomenal!! The food was really tasty and authentic. I wish we were told the food was spicy because our food was extremely spicy. If this were a 3 I would've ordered a 2. The spice is delicious but at the current spicy level we had to push ourselves to keep eating. Definitely try the Thai tea. This review is base off a to go experience! I still need to dine in! We ordered the Tum Tard which is a combination of meat, papaya salad, and sticky rice. A lot of Thai, Cambodian, and Lao restaurants offer this type of combination dish. Sometimes with beef, pork, or fried chicken wings. We also got shrimp pad thai. Food 4/5 - grilled pork was really nice and tender. Lots of flavor from the grilled marks. The sauce that came with it was so good. Tangy and spicy. Papaya was ok.. I prefer Cambodian or Laos papaya salad over Thai. Thai is more sweet and not as spicy. Pad Thai was good. I'm sure everything would have been even better if we dined in. Next time! read more

Food was great, and customer service is the best. They have alot of customers waiting outside the door but the smiles did not disapear. They kept checking to see if I was eating well and if I ndeeed anything. Everyone is so nice and helpful. I have been waiting to try this highly recommended Thai place and it was worth the wait! Even on Monday night Thonglor had a bit of a wait. It was a vibrant ambiance with decor resembling Thai street market. Service was very friendly and efficient (they even took our order as we were waiting). We started with the Luk Chin Jeed and Kui Chai - which I find to not be common appetizers in many Thai resteraunts here. Both were great - the Luk chin Jeed was savory and flavorful. The Kui chai had a great chewy texture and paired well with the sweet dipping sauce. For the mains we had the Tom yum noodle soup, it was full of seafood and noodles and the broth had a creamy yummy flavor. We also had the panaang curry which was solid. And the ka nar moo grob - the pieces of pork were large, nicely crispy on the outside, and super soft inside. We ended with mango sticky rice which was classic and delicious! My family and I absolutely love this place! I am a very big Thai food lover while my kids are extremely picky when it comes to Thai rarely will eat Thai cuisine. We have been here 4 times in the last month. The Thai coffee and the Thai ice tea are really good here. Love the shrimp padthai and sticky rice. Most of the plates are extremely good but there are a few plates really lacked and needs a change or taken off the menu. We are so excited to try the grilled squid. It looked nothing like the picture on the menu and it tastes tough, chewy, and reheated. The fried fish also were similar. They tasted hard, tough and reheated. The hot pot style soup were OK. They just weren't wholesome and lacked for what you were paying for. The noodle plates and the rice plates were trio amazing making it worth it to us to keep coming back! read more

My family and friends meet here on a Monday just as they opened since my brother was a huge fan of this place. We were a party of 7 so we were relieved to be the first ones there. However, shortly after every seat was full and there was even a line. We loved the broth of the Tom yum as well as the seafood. I haven't had Khao pad poo other than a Chinese crab fried rice version and was a huge fan of the flavors. The Pad Thai shrimp was also top notch for my typically unsatisfied preferences. The Pad kee mao was delicious as well but I could always do with more gravy. The Panang nuer was tender and seasoned perfectly. I really liked the fish sauce served with the Grilled squid since it was so spicy and tangy. The Kai Tod had yai was crispy and salty. And the Sweet mango sticky rice was a perfect way to end our meal. Drinks were phenomenal including the 999 roses and makam. Overall, I had a fantastic time and so did everyone in my party. Came for dinner on a Friday night and waited about 20 minutes for a table for 2. It took them about 20 minutes to take our order (we tried flagging them down, didnt work) but the food came out quick. ~First Impressions~ The interior is pretty well put together compared to other Thai Restaurants I've gone to. I've come by here a couple of times now and it seems there's never enough waiters and it takes a while for an order to get through. The atmosphere is great with lots of natural light coming in. The food is great too. ~The Food~ I've come through here a couple of times with many different party sizes ranging from 2 to 10. I've found the quality of the food to be pretty consistent. The curry dishes looked subpar, but some of the other dishes like the Tom yum soup, Khao Soi, pad see ew, etc. were excellent with a lot of rich flavor. The mango with sweet sticky rice was really nice too without being too sweet. The drink menu is also full of fun drinks that have a lot of fruity floral character in each. But the classic Thai Iced Tea is always a must to help balance the meal. ~The Logistics~ There's plenty of street parking in the area and the restaurant can accommodate large parties but you need to be all present to be seated and calling may help them plan ahead. read more

Tried this place twice thus far and i must say i do enjoy the experience. Waitresses were attentive and quick. I got to try the papaya salad, it isn't spicy so fire seekers, this isn't it. Non-fire seekers this is perfect! The Tom yum Morfai dish was flavorful and had a mix of seafood shrimps, squid, mussels etc. enjoyed taking the broth and putting rice in it after. The roti massaman was good, but be warned could be on the saltier side for some (i like salty) wish there were more pieces of the roti Khao pad ga pow was their basil fried rice. I was hoping for a spicier kick. Usually basil fried rice I've had at many other places had a nice spice level. Tasty still but would probably try asking if they could spice it up more next time. Their Tiger steak dish i felt was lacking. A lot of fat on the pieces some may love, not my jam personally. The sauce that came with it was delish! The duck with pineapple dish was alright could have been hotter it wasn't our favorite. Three flavor fish was very tasty i enjoyed the flavor. I thought the fish was a tad dry but overall liked it. Finally got to visit Thonglor after receiving a recommendation from a friend and I wasn't disappointed The dishes were colorful, flavorful, and had the perfect temperature and spice. The pad cha talay had a great portion of seafood that was perfectly cooked and flavored (definitely would order this again). The larb ped was refreshing with fresh herbs that paired well with the duck (i recommend having this dish with rice! ). FAVE ITEMS: - Chicken Satay: omg this is a must-get. This may be my favorite. The peanut sauce is so creamy and the chicken is so soft and tender. - Khao Pad Poo: crab fried rice basically. This is my second time. And I've got to say this place is the place for Thai. Best pad Thai in MA so far. It's got a beautiful wok flavor. Toasty and fire kissed. Flavor is on point. Not too sweet. One of the better Thai spots in Boston. In the oak square area, where the only parking is street parking but we didn't have an issue finding parking on a Saturday night. Staff was really friendly, if I are going with a group larger than 4, it would be best to make a reservation. The drinks were interesting and good. I honestly don't remember the names, sorry! For the food, the beef Penang curry was the tables favorite. It was simple but packed with flavor and a nice little kick. The chicken pad Thai is one of the better ones I've had ever. The crab meat fried rice had legitimate limb crab meat unlike most crab meat fried rice where you get tiny bits of snow crab meat. The last item we got was a spicy seafood dish, which was good but not as interesting or as delicious as the others. This is also a great date night, nothing fancy but good eats spot.
