Based on one visit. Smaller restaurant on a Washington Street in Brighton. Pluses (+) Ambiance/Decor/Environment is cozy and warm even though its an open room. Nice quality tables and chairs as well as decorations creates an inviting environment. The warmth of the staff also makes it inviting. Food Type: What you would expect like Street food, classics. noodles and curries and a few regional specialties. Prices: Reasonable for food of this quality. We spent $90 pre-tip for three including an appetizer and a few beers (for me only). Food Quality: Very Good. We had three dishes and an appetizer and shared everything. Singha and Leo beer available as expected washed it down. I have been to Thailand on business trips and vacation and by no means have a palette capable of detecting nuances in regional dishes (I can a bit for Korean and Japanese due to extended time spent there), but could taste it was a bit playing to the American tastes. Still really good. Service: Friendly and generally fast. Minus (-) The meals came out separately. Meal one came with the appetizer. Then 7-10 minutes the second meal. Then 7-10 minutes the third meal. If eating American style ie everyone eats only their own meal, this would be a real problem. As my wife is Korean we usually eat family style (we often share meals at American restaurants, why not, you get to try more dishes), so this was not an issue really. The pluses outweigh negative it is still 4.5 rounder to 5. Absolutely worth a try. Enjoy!
Love Thonglor! I have this odd sense of pride whenever I pass Thonglor because I see them doing so well to have expanded into a sister noodle joint, Sen Yai Thai, on the same block - you know a place is beating the hunger-game restaurant odds when there's a wait for both places on a weekday night. Bonus points for an extravagantly laminated menu that has pictures of every single dish rendered in uber-colorful detail. We got the: papaya salad with shrimp; chicken satay; crab fried rice; pad thai; and mango sticky rice. More than enough food to feed two people, including a little bit for leftovers the next day. The crab fried rice - please, please get this. I'm usually not a fried rice person, as my parents taught me long ago that rice is just filler and must be avoided at all costs at the buffet line, but their crab fried rice is stellar. Loaded with generous chunks of real crab and so flavorful, with the smokiness of the wok permeating through. I also usually skip the pad thai at any Thai restaurant but I loved this rendition, beautiful balance of sweet and salty, and with all the necessary accoutrements, like chopped peanuts and a squeeze of lime. I would say the chicken satay is maybe a skip but it comes with an incredible peanut sauce that I love to slather on top of everything. Mango sticky rice: eh, it's not the season for mango. The one that came with ours was definitely a bit anemic and limp. The warm sticky rice covered in condensed milk with the faintest tinge of pandan green was good enough to eat on its own. They're really busy so not the best place to sit and talk with your friends all evening. Also not a lot of street parking on a busy street. I suggest walking or taking the bus over. Need to order the fried fish next time. You know a Thai place is excellent when I'm lured away from my beloved green curry to try the other options.
Super good and strong flavors here!!! Such a good Thai place and the menu is so cute, I love being able to see all the dishes and not just read the names. The meat is always cooked perfectly and all the sauces pair with each other well. Prices are good, I've paid much much for worse quality food. Wish the interior was larger because it can get a bit crowded and you might get sat a little too close to comfort with other tables (I was bumping elbows with strangers sometimes!). No complaints on service or food though!!
Picked up takeout here and it was good. The prices were very reasonable for Thai food. Most of the menu items ranged from 16-22$. Standouts were the pad see ew and curry puffs. The pastry on the curry puffs was really flaky and had a flavorful filling. Green curry was also good.
See my first review over three years ago. Have been ordering for deliveries all throughout and finally recently dined in again. Here are some comments and suggestions for improvements. To do better, of course. Employees should stop gossiping about customers or making sarcastic facial expressions/gestures toward one another about the customers -- e.g., "They're still taking their time on the menu", I told you so, these customers are clueless, who's, not sure why they're not ready to order yet! etc. I like the Sen Yai Thai Restaurant next door a lot better. The servers are a lot more pleasant and welcoming, no sarcastic attitudes, gossiping behind customers' backs as those here at Thonglor.
Make a reservation or come when the open because this place fills up fast. The food is delicious and came out fast. Good spot to come with family and friends. Duck curry - crispy with a nice slow building heat Crying tiger - tender beef and the cilantro sauce it came with was delicious Chicken satay - chicken a little dry but sauces were great Three flavor fish - the fish was fried very crispy and came with sweet and sour sauce. Whole fish but you don't have to worry about bones Mango sticky rice - sweet end to a great meal.
This review is base off a to go experience! I still need to dine in! We ordered the Tum Tard which is a combination of meat, papaya salad, and sticky rice. A lot of Thai, Cambodian, and Lao restaurants offer this type of combination dish. Sometimes with beef, pork, or fried chicken wings. We also got shrimp pad thai. Food 4/5 - grilled pork was really nice and tender. Lots of flavor from the grilled marks. The sauce that came with it was so good. Tangy and spicy. Papaya was ok.. I prefer Cambodian or Laos papaya salad over Thai. Thai is more sweet and not as spicy. Pad Thai was good. I'm sure everything would have been even better if we dined in. Next time!
We try Thai everywhere we go and this place deserves a 9.2. I will always drive out of Boston to eat here. Every trip to New England must have this restaurant on its itinerary. We had the steamed rice, pad see ew noodles, beef salad, and Tom yum soup. To drink we had Thai teas. Everything was phenomenal!! The food was really tasty and authentic. I wish we were told the food was spicy because our food was extremely spicy. If this were a 3 I would've ordered a 2. The spice is delicious but at the current spicy level we had to push ourselves to keep eating. Definitely try the Thai tea. Overall I rate this restaurant a 9.2, I would travel and go out of my way to stop by. Make a reservation if possible, service was quick. Restaurant is small and cozy.
All the food and drinks were amazing. Honestly one of my favorite Thai spots in the area. The crispy duck curry was so delicious, it's a must get here.
Absolutely delish food and drinks!! The restaurant is not too big but it gets very busy at dinner. It can be loud and lively around the evening. The wait is worth it though. We ordered 4 dishes (crying tiger was to-go, no photo) and a cocktail. Everything was delish. I wish I live closer so I can try the rest of the menu. Definitely a must try place!!
Food was great, and customer service is the best. They have alot of customers waiting outside the door but the smiles did not disapear. They kept checking to see if I was eating well and if I ndeeed anything. Everyone is so nice and helpful. So tum was strange since it is served with cook shrimps not dried shrimps, but the taste is awesome. Crying tiger is great,and they made the Thai milk tea less sweet for me which is nice. Price is affordable. Will come back to try more next trip!
Located in Brighton in the midst of many high-powered educational institutions, the restaurant was crowded with what appeared to be PhD students in molecular biology having a great time. The chicken saté was outstanding, perfectly cooked, flavorful, juicy, and tender. They also came through with the Pad Thai, Tom Yum shrimp and mango sticky rice. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Amazing local Thai spot! They have some dishes that aren't a common find on most Thai joint menus. I will just say that some of the dishes were a touch in the sweet side so if you're glucose sensitive watch out for that. Overall great service, drinks and some of the best mango sticky rice I have had!

Typically a wait for weeknights. Plenty of street parking. Service is fast. Nice ambiance. The duck curry was fine, but the duck itself was too salty. Tom kha was good. Crying tiger was cooked to medium/medium rareish and was probably the best dish-- tender, fatty, good balance of salty and sweet. Thai teas aren't too sweet which is a plus. read more

I have been waiting to try this highly recommended Thai place and it was worth the wait! Even on Monday night Thonglor had a bit of a wait. It was a vibrant ambiance with decor resembling Thai street market. Service was very friendly and efficient (they even took our order as we were waiting). We started with the Luk Chin Jeed and Kui Chai - which I find to not be common appetizers in many Thai resteraunts here. Both were great - the Luk chin Jeed was savory and flavorful. The Kui chai had a great chewy texture and paired well with the sweet dipping sauce. For the mains we had the Tom yum noodle soup, it was full of seafood and noodles and the broth had a creamy yummy flavor. We also had the panaang curry which was solid. And the ka nar moo grob - the pieces of pork were large, nicely crispy on the outside, and super soft inside. We ended with mango sticky rice which was classic and delicious! Would recommend this place for sure read more

4.5/5. Food was authentic and flavorful, but a little too much sauce in the Pad Thai. The roti was delicious but the curry was very sweet, and the roti was disproportionately small. Service was EXCELLENT though, they were so fast I didn't even have time to thank them, I dropped my napkin on the floor and the second I got up from picking it up another one was on the table, I didn't even know she saw me like that. Ambiance was comfortable, small but nice. read more

My family and friends meet here on a Monday just as they opened since my brother was a huge fan of this place. We were a party of 7 so we were relieved to be the first ones there. However, shortly after every seat was full and there was even a line. We loved the broth of the Tom yum as well as the seafood. I haven't had Khao pad poo other than a Chinese crab fried rice version and was a huge fan of the flavors. The Pad Thai shrimp was also top notch for my typically unsatisfied preferences. The Pad kee mao was delicious as well but I could always do with more gravy. The Panang nuer was tender and seasoned perfectly. I really liked the fish sauce served with the Grilled squid since it was so spicy and tangy. The Kai Tod had yai was crispy and salty. And the Sweet mango sticky rice was a perfect way to end our meal. Drinks were phenomenal including the 999 roses and makam. Overall, I had a fantastic time and so did everyone in my party. There were 3 servers for the whole place but they could certainly use a few extra hands since they were so busy. Even so, they were still so sweet and fulfilled all our requests. Would absolutely love to come again and highly recommend others to support this locally owned and beautifully crafted Thai place! read more
The food was incredible and came out quickly!! We love the beef salad the most! The tom yum hot pot was a bit salty. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the service! First time when the waitress brought our food out, I asked her for extra sauce and she did not acknowledge me went straight to the kitchen. Wonderful and cozy Thai spot nestled in the Brighton-Newton corner area. Ordered a marinated pork dish and chicken pad Thai because that's always a good baseline for comparison. Portions are pretty generous considering the price inflation on food lately. The pork was supposed to come with 'sticky' rice but honestly it was just regular steamed white rice in a cute little thatched pouch. Stopped by on Thursday dinner time to take out Pat Thai. Was busy. I heard customer commenting food was great. Was told waiting time is 10min. My order came in 25min. Missed two busses to go home. Pad Thai was mediocre or below average. and very little portion for the price. Read great reviews on here and also my foodie friend recommended this restaurant. Pad Thai tasted over flavored. Otherwise all staffs were very hard working, taking care of both eat in and picking up customers smoothly, I was impressed for their work ethic. I may try other dishes in the future but not so inspired. They seemed trying bit fancy Thai experience kinda . . . . Anyway, foodie friend said I should have ordered Tofu Penyang Curry. read more

Food: The food was delicious and presentation was great. Down side is that the portion for some dishes were smaller than expected for the price range compared to others. 8/10 Service: Dined on a Tuesday night, and surprisingly it was quite busy. Although it was busy, the staff was trying their best to accommodate everyone with great efficiency and demeanor. 8.5/10 Ambience: The mood in the Resturant is warm and friendly and can fit multiple scenarios like that of a dating or eating out with family with friends. 9/10 read more

Came for dinner on a Friday night and waited about 20 minutes for a table for 2. It took them about 20 minutes to take our order (we tried flagging them down, didnt work) but the food came out quick. We got these items: 1. Tom Yum Fried rice - lots of flavor, almost a bit overwhelming. Love how sour it is. The muscles taste off, definitely not fresh. 2. Tom Yum Mor Fai - really delicious, but once again the muscles weren't fresh. 3. Larb Ped - star of the night, so delicious!! duck salad that's sweet, sour, salty, umami, fresh, and crunchy all at once. Would totally get it again with a side of rice. Overall, great dining experience, place was clean. read more
Tried this place twice thus far and i must say i do enjoy the experience. Waitresses were attentive and quick. I got to try the papaya salad, it isn't spicy so fire seekers, this isn't it. Non-fire seekers this is perfect! The Tom yum Morfai dish was flavorful and had a mix of seafood shrimps, squid, mussels etc. enjoyed taking the broth and putting rice in it after. The roti massaman was good, but be warned could be on the saltier side for some (i like salty) wish there were more pieces of the roti Khao pad ga pow was their basil fried rice. I was hoping for a spicier kick. Usually basil fried rice I've had at many other places had a nice spice level. Tasty still but would probably try asking if they could spice it up more next time. Their Tiger steak dish i felt was lacking. A lot of fat on the pieces some may love, not my jam personally. The sauce that came with it was delish! The duck with pineapple dish was alright could have been hotter it wasn't our favorite. Three flavor fish was very tasty i enjoyed the flavor. I thought the fish was a tad dry but overall liked it. Ambiance seems to be very inviting, the place is usually jamming. We went on a weekday and a weekend. The weekends pretty packed but tables are turned around quick. Overall recommend? Yes! The lady has all the good pictures, i was busy eating. Only took photo of the mango sticky rice! read more

~First Impressions~ The interior is pretty well put together compared to other Thai Restaurants I've gone to. I've come by here a couple of times now and it seems there's never enough waiters and it takes a while for an order to get through. The atmosphere is great with lots of natural light coming in. The food is great too. ~The Food~ I've come through here a couple of times with many different party sizes ranging from 2 to 10. I've found the quality of the food to be pretty consistent. The curry dishes looked subpar, but some of the other dishes like the Tom yum soup, Khao Soi, pad see ew, etc. were excellent with a lot of rich flavor. The mango with sweet sticky rice was really nice too without being too sweet. The drink menu is also full of fun drinks that have a lot of fruity floral character in each. But the classic Thai Iced Tea is always a must to help balance the meal. ~The Logistics~ There's plenty of street parking in the area and the restaurant can accommodate large parties but you need to be all present to be seated and calling may help them plan ahead. read more
