Ugh, I love the drop. Quirks and all! Since moving to the area it has become my new go to place for a drink with friends. Everything is so reasonably priced for Boston. Unlike other bars, I don't find myself fighting and shoving to get a drink at the bar which is a huge plus. Even when basically empty is has the nice, cozy dive bar feel that I adore. My only complaint is that the dart boards aren't replaced as frequently as they should. There's nothing more frustrating than a good throw not sticking because the board is too worn! read more

Grew up around here and recently moved back so decided to try this place out. I thought it was more of a dive bar type vibe but when I went on Saturday night with some buddies it was basically a dudes-only bar. Lots of people in here but I don't know if the middle aged gay white bouncer outside the door wanted to fill the place up with only guys because the only women in there was those in a group of guys. Went outside at one point and watched him absolutely demolish this group of girls, full on screaming in their faces after they just walked up and handed their IDs over. Definitely a weird vibe. But if you're looking for an up and coming gay bar this could be the place! Drinks were pretty good and decently priced too! read more

It was a weird experience, I paid for the juke box and they lowered the volume on all the songs that I picked that were rap songs. I picked a Lil Baby and Kodak song they put it down immediately. After that I played some country songs and rock songs and suddenly it's was turned back up. It wild cause the place is actually a vibe. read more

This place is usually a good, fun, local dive bar. But they have a guy behind the bar now who is a total bully toward customers. We watched as he mocked several times a man for having an English last name. "Hey, English" he yelled several times, and not kidding around, he meant it as an insult. Maybe noone told this bartender that we used to be a British colony so there are many such names here in America. Maybe he should open an American history book. Or at least be respectful toward Americans in their own country. He got orders wrong on purpose, and yelled at customers. Bullied customers into buying drinks when their existing drinks were half full. This is unacceptable, but since the bar is the only one around open until 2am, people tolerate it. read more

I moved to the area in June and finally got over to this place after it had been on the hit list for months. We were blown away. The girls were expecting a local dive with weird people. We were greeted with a great ambiance, SUPER friendly staff, and great locals who sported great conversation. We love love love this spot and WILL be back. The best local bar in Brighton due to it's friendly and helpful staff. Always great beer on tap, other liquors, and drinks. If you ever have a problem with anything, don't be shy tell the bartender and they will make it right. They also have great games-- darts and billiards. I've never written a yelp review before but feel compelled to. The bouncer turned away my real government issued license after all my friends entered, and proceeded to smugly lecture me on how she knew it was fake. This has never happened to me before as I have only ever used a real ID, and I felt entirely disrespected at how she treated me as if I was lying. I won't be returning, and hope the bouncers there get trained on what real IDs look like in the future. read more

Free darts. Decent beer. Crowded and high energy. People should relax, this is a dive bar you can't expect a whole lot. The toilet in the men's room is secured to the floor. There's plumbing. Came in last weekend with my boyfriend and a buddy of his. I should mention that I was visiting from Chicago, we were hanging out in his territory. I absolutely love the vibe of this place, upon coming in we were greeted and welcomed! While we were hanging out I noticed regulars coming in and out, you can really tell that they appreciate their returning regulars! It seemed like the bartender knew everyone by their first name, he was talkative and having conversations with just about everyone! Later that evening my boyfriends family mentioned that this bar has been around for quite some time (previously under a different name) and it was really sweet hearing that his family has memories of the place. The atmosphere is very welcoming, plenty of space to sit or stand, perfect for groups! Plenty of TVs, Dart Boards, and a pool table! No complaints, everything was great, it was a perfect stop during my East Coast visit! By the way, the drinks were great!! I'll definitely come back on my next visit. read more

3 stars because I'm very conflicted. The night of Saturday August 12 I was looking to have a nice beer alone. It was about 1030pm when I arrived. The bouncer (white male about 6'2" dark glasses and short hair) looks at me and says "hey big boy" then proceeds to blow a kiss at me. Now I must admit I was very flattered, being an older gentlleman and getting looks from a young buck like that, but I'm happily married. I sat at the middle bar and while I was having my beer he was staring at me. I could tell he was undressing me with his eyes. I looked over at him and he lowered his glasses and licked his lips at me. I got uncomfortable so I finished my drink and left. On my way out he smacked my behind and said "see you later daddy". Until my wife passes away I'll have to wait to see my mystery bouncer again. I just hope I'm not one of many. read more

I live down the street from this bar and have gone consistently for 3 years due to convenience. The "bouncer" at this bar that is across the street from a YMCA and tucked in between a Dunkin Donuts, laundry mat and nail salon doesn't let people in based on their nationality. This bar is known within the Irish community as a bar that doesn't like the Irish. I also read a review written six years ago about how a group wasn't let in because someone in their group was black. Whether that is true or not, it seems believable after my experience here. I watched this "bouncer" single out my Irish friend when he saw his passport and heard him talk. He was nowhere near noticeably drunk. I felt like Ronnie Bass in Remember The Titans trying to get a drink with my black teammates and getting denied service. It was blatant discrimination in Boston in 2016. The guy with the bad teeth that works the door is your classic loser with no friends that loves being a bouncer. If you're a sober white American and you get in, the experience is average at best. You're better off going home and ordering a calzone than getting your last drink at the last drop. They should fire the "bouncer" that has 1 to 2 but no more than 3 friends. The people of Oak Square and the several Yelp reviews seem to all agree. read more

Poor draft selection, entrenched end-of-the-bar patronage, dead zone in the middle of the room that isn't a dance floor, awkward seating arrangement, rough parking, poor lighting and a horrible view of Washington street from the narrow windows... A friend of mine practically grew up here, watching the place go through dozens of names and renovations. According to him, back in the 80's there was even a little person playing piano on a raised surface near the ceiling. Now it's got a pool table, 2 dart boards, a few tables and no food--this is for boozer's only. Oh, and the ceiling over the bar is beautiful. Apparently , the last time they renovated the place, they found the original intricately carved ceiling panels and a sky light which, in the daytime, makes the place feel a lot less gloomy and more old fashioned. An afternoon drink found the place quiet and the bartender chatting with some people at the end of the bar...and he stayed down there quite a while as we waited to order our next round. I hate it when a bar is dead and you can't get a drink. Yeah, I guess that's something unique about me. read more

Ended up here at the end of a "bar golf" night (yeah, maybe I don't remember eeeevery little detail..) because it was near my friend's apartment and serves later than most Boston area bars, which sometimes have a last call of before 1am. Drinks were super reasonably priced, we were able to stay out a little later and while really crowded by the bar itself, they were doing a good job keeping the overall numbers to a comfortable number by not allowing too many people in-- even some of our friends had to wait for that very reason. The bouncers were even cool about letting my friend go outside when she "needed a minute" for some fresh air. I'd love to go back for all of the above reasons-- maybe before the very end of a bar crawl so I can enjoy it longer! read more

The Last Drop's new brick interior, dart board, tiled floor, pool table and limited seating reminded me of what a scene at a bar in Kate Hudson's new Boston movie might look like. It's inviting and supposed to feel very Boston, but it's really just another generic renovated dive bar. My friend just moved to the neighborhood and we stopped in for a quick drink after dinner. We were surprised at the slew of mid sized, middle aged, men hanging out at the bar. Maybe they were there to watch ESPN, make eyes with uninterested female patrons (read: us), or maybe they're just always there. To be fair, it was only 8 PM on a Wednesday so there were only twenty or so people at the bar, but I have a feeling on the weekend, it would draw the same exact crowd as Harvard Ave. in Allston. read more

New bartender sucks, she discriminates and is gonna cost this place some business. She's the new girl bartender, longer brown hair and wears a backwards hat, she's nice to the guys and nasty to girls. I went there yesterday with a group of friends, I have been going to the last drop for the past 3 years and know many of the bartenders. First red flag was when I ordered my usual drink and this bartender gave it to me as a shot but charged me for a drink. I then see she charged my friend less and me more for the same drink/shot so I politely asked her what was going on with that, she said she rung up my friends "differently" than mine. Then I asked her if I could get this as a full drink and she was telling me I had to specify that and that this isn't a usual drink and gave me extreme attitude. Side note, Will, the old bartender was the one who came up with this drink one day when I told him I wanted something on the sweeter side (the drink is vanilla vodka, baileys and kahlua) I order this every where I go and never have issues. She finally made me the drink after I had two shots on the rocks (literally 2 sips) in the past hour so this is my first real drink. We had been there for almost 2 hours at this point and I just finished my first drink, I went up to get another one and she cut me off in SPITE while she had served all my guy friends 5-6 beers the past hour and a half and I had 2 shots on the rocks and one drink and she said it was too much while she was also serving my friend who had the same 2 shots and drink as me and ANOTHER drink as well. I called her out and all of us left. I told my other group of friends about it and some of the girls said they experienced hostility from her as well. My friends and I are regulars at this establishment and after this incident, we won't be returning until they hire a bartender who knows how to do their job and doesn't target customers. read more

The crowd varies, but everyone on Washington St. makes their way to the Last Drop late in the night because the other bars close so early. The split-personality king of neighborhood dive bars. Shoot some pool, toss some darts, or pull up a stool and enjoy a refreshingly un-boston price point on some great beers and whiskeys. Bring your own food, as there's no kitchen. Friendly bartenders, buck hunter, and a jukebox line the corners of the 1980's kitchen, open-floor design. Then, an act of the supernatural occurs. Weekend bargoers that venture from the outer rims of nowhere (Oak Square) to the depths of civilization, hop back on Boston's hilariously short-lived late night T service and undergo a transformation. Over the course of the 9-year return trek on the wooden roller-coaster ride known as the 57 bus line, our bar patrons (in a delirium of potential death by MBTA) decide there is still more to live for tonight. Enter The Last Drop, circa 11:30pm every Saturday night. The crux of late night hilariousness from a variety of faces, ranging from the Sperry and khaki-clad 20 something accountant to the drunken neighbor-men, promising a semi-coherent spew of last ditch displays of dominance and liquor. The dive becomes a pool of late night ruckus that is too hilariously perfect to not wade into. It's quite sad when a "business owner" cannot own up to his/her employees mistakes. I am quite disappointed by Douglas' short, curt response. Any reputable establishment would 1) acknowledge the problem 2) emphasize and show understanding 3) apologize for making a customer feel harassed, discriminated against and allowing a customer to sit outside STRANDED with no means to get home. I am so sorry that the people who work here have no shred of human decency but I suppose this type of behavior flows from the top down. Management's "response" (if you can call it that) does not address any of my main issues: 1) I was not "intoxicated" until you decided that my passport was not sufficient and acted like you've never seen one before. Perhaps invest in a UV scanner since you are unable to properly verify government ID's, and then give the customer attitude and blame them for it. Or if you'd like I would be happy to provide you with one. 2) overt discrimination and harassment 3) I COULD NOT GET HOME. Any decent place of business would have allowed me to go get my friend OR charge my phone OR offered to call a taxi. Your people ALLOWED me to sit outside. What if I was alone? Then what? It seems your only suggestion sleep on the sidewalk? Ugh. Think again about your response, Douglas, and learn how to treat people humanely - with dignity and respect. When I lived in Oak Square, I could see the last drop from my apartment which meant I frequented it way too much. It is what it is, a dive bar with no food, pretty cheap beers and darts. On weekend nights after 12 there is a line out the door since it's one of the only places anywhere open til 2. Like others said they let you bring in food if you want to eat. We ordered from Pizza Etc and New Hong Kong a few weeks ago and rounded up a few tables and a bunch of us had dinner. An extra star in my book. During the blizzard at the very beginning of '05 my roommates and I dug out of our house because we couldn't stand being there any longer and had some drinks at the Drop. Again, another star. They remodeled but all I really notice is newer tv's, during the week this place is filled with locals and a few college kids or young professionals who live in Oak Square. Weekends it's filled with everyone already buzzed from being at another bar. You will definitely strike up random conversation with someone you may or may not want to talk to. Other than that this place should be near the bottom of your list on places to go. It is what it is, the Last Drop, your last option if nothing else is working. There is only one reason to go to The Last Drop: to be served liquor and beer past 1AM in a city that starts closing at 11PM. The Boston bar scene is positively ridiculous, and probably run by some sort of Communist front. The Last Drop however has duly paid off all the bosses and dons, and remains open until 2AM. I really like the bartenders, who manage to serve relatively quickly despite the mobs that come here in the closing hours. Everything else however, is gross, and it starts with the people. I had to physically remove my friend from a conversation with a hopelessly moronic, disturbingly trashy local harlot with a nose ring and at least four tattoos.
