You get what you pay for so if you want expensive drinks, marble bar tops, and a gazillion 90" plasmas, this isn't the place for you. However, if you are looking for reasonably priced drinks and a TV to watch the game with some friends this place is great. The Last Drop is literally the closest bar to my new house and I have been several times with nothing bad to report. The only downside, and the reason for one less star is the lack of an in house kitchen. But, not all bars are created equal and The Last Drop makes do with what it has and offers a collection of take out menus from surrounding restaurants and will even let you borrow their phone to place your order. They have a strong selection of beers, both on tap and bottled and always have a couple of different games playing on their 5 TV's. It may not be an over-glamed sports bar, but it has beer, food (sort of), and a place to hang out with your friends and catch the game, so it's OK in my book. read more

Great service and friendly bartenders! It's a very "chill" spot to have drinks with friends, shoot some pool, or throw some darts. However, THERE IS NO FOOD HERE, which makes me sad as someone who loves to eat more than they drink. They do have some chips hanging on a wall if you become truly desperate. I do like that they let you order or get pick up food from around the area, and you can eat it there. And there are plenty of take-out type restaurants around the area you can walk to. I've been coming here for a year now and Im not going to say this is the greatest dive bar this side of the Mississippi but I'm certainly not going to say it's the worst. This place could not have better lighting, perfectly dimmed. Ideal for when the sun goes down (Don't bring your significant other here after dark). Staff, absolutely wonderful. Eh, it's good for what it is - total meat market with, as my friend says, your obligatory frat douchebags. The bartenders are pretty fast and actually notice you standing there waiting for a drink - no complaints there. I much prefer to get there early, if at all, to miss the line that inevitably forms outside when all the other bars close and own the jukebox so as to avoid being subjected to Journey, Poison, etc. That being said, I wouldn't wait in line to get in. Came here one night after another place closed down for the evening. It was the only bar open at the time that we knew about...that gives it a star. Gross, gross ladies bathroom. "interesting" clientele (no offense, just not my crowd). Very old-seeming building (needs a facelift, but then again, perhaps the 'old' feel gives it some of its charm to certain people). I mean, beer is beer, there was nothing wrong with it. The very nice bartender actually earned a whole extra star for this place. She was very friendly and chatted appropriately with us. Not great. Not bad. CHEAP drinks. I've HEARD this is the bar to come to after Castlebar shuts down for the night, since The Last Drop stays open later. Rumor has it that it fills up with college kids pretty quickly come 1:30AM. Being an out-of-towner I didn't get to experience this aspect. The bar wasn't crowded at all that Thursday night and we stayed till closing. Met some nice people including one kid that spent his entire life in Western Mass up until now, when he moved to Brighton...and LOVES it. Buddy needs to do a little more traveling outside of his bubble if you ask me. Now living in Manhattan I wasn't too impressed with his story or the bar. It was very mediocre but served its purpose since we didn't want to venture far from my friend's that night. Cool, old school lamps though - reminded me of my kitchen when I was six. read more

I have a big like/hate relationship with this place (never love). I lived in Brighton for about 3 years, and always seemed to end up here on Friday or Saturday nights. I think being the only place open until 2am was the biggest reason for that. This place turns into a human zoo after 1am, which is pretty fun to see, with all walks of Brighton life convening to get just one more hour of drinking and sweating in a room full of weirdos. My biggest problem is that I've been treated kinda shabbily by different bartenders and doormen here. I'm not sure how it happened (maybe mistaken identity), but they always treat me like I'm some kind of drunken troublemaker when I'm in there (I'm really not! though I guess I've been a little sloppy once or twice). But whatever, I do like the darts and pool table and all the randoms that pack in here. Ayways! Castle Bar is waaaayyyyy better if you don't need to be out until 2am, If you must go here, keep your cool (don't act too sloppy, or you'll be branded!) and remember to keep your eyes open for some sweet people watching. read more

I would give ZERO stars if this was a possibility. We will be following up this instance with the appropriate parties and taking corrective measures. **For context, please note the bouncer in question is a Caucasian male in his mid to late 20s, around 6 feet, brown short hair, and black glasses.** We arrived in a group of 5+ girls and guys, all around 25 years and older at this bar on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 12:30 am when the bouncer at the door (who refused to provide his name when politely prompted 3 times) REFUSED to grant entry to my friend, who had an out-of-state license from Illinois (it is a legal legitimate license and has had no issues on this obnoxious of a scale in ANY other bar in the city of Boston, let alone a dive bar in Brighton). He was one among a group of 5+ people who ALL also had out-of-state licenses; however, they all had their licenses reviewed and granted entry within 3 seconds and without any issues. The ONLY issue that could distinguish him from the group was that he was male, while the other out-of-state license holders were females. This is an explicit case of sexism, and in this day and age in society, racism is not out of the question as well, seeing as my friend is Asian and the bouncer is white. The bouncer unnecessarily spent more than 15 minutes discussing with 3 other employees while comparing my friend's license to the "2018 picture book of licenses" to ensure validity. After causing a MAJOR scene and inconvenience, he was eventually allowed into the bar. However, the central issue is that they claimed his ID did not pass the "UV light scan" because it did not entirely match up with their book. First of all, not every ID will be in pristine condition despite being valid and not expired within the 5 year period, and therefore may not always uphold the UV light pattern, but that does not necessarily mean the ID is fake. My friend even offered to provide different forms of identification to ensure the ID is in fact legitimate, but his efforts were ignored. Perhaps, the bar management should hire a more competent bouncer, or invest in a ID scanner instead of a rickety UV flashlight to determine ID validity if your concern is fake IDs in a location that is not even near college students. Also, have some common sense if someone is going through THIS MUCH hassle to ensure you that his ID is real, there's a 99.9% chance that the ID is NOT fake and not stolen. This entire scenario could have been handled much more efficiently and effectively if the bouncer had not overvalued his personal ego, and in result gave a customer a hard time. In short, if you want your night ruined by a bouncer who doesn't know how to do his job right and will discriminate against you, by all means come here. read more

When I first walked in this place, the smell hit me harder than stepping off the 64 at Central Square- thinking, Where am I? I immediately was about to make a u-turn and head to much classier establishments like TITS or Harrys. However, at the same time, I heard a seedy character in the back by the Golden Tee machine let out a loud, Bbbeeoowwwoooppp. Even though I didn't have the darnedest clue what that meant, his infectious laughter caught my ear and instinctually I decided to give the place a second chance. My momma always taught me to never judge a book by its cover (or odd, unusual odor either --- although that hasn't always worked out in my favor) so I figured, what's the harm in one drink? As I weaved my way past the drunk 60 year old characters and a 30 something bald guy stooped over at the middle bar, I noticed they had state-of-the-art sun lighting shining in over their extensive row of tap handles. After quickly perusing the 2-3 beers on tap, I decided to settle on a local craft beer, bud light. There was a decent crowd in there that day along the all wood bar that extends along the right side of the place, so I wasn't sure how long it would take to get a drink. To my pleasant surprise, a large jovial man, sporting a sweet baseball beard and a gregarious personality, quickly came over. With a friendly, yet gentle handshake the bartender introduced himself as Mike. The bud light was decently priced (less than $4 for a draft) and given Mike's warm attitude (and freshly cleaned embroidered Last Drop collared shirt), I decided to stick around and mingle with the locals. And I was glad I did. I heard from others that the loud seedy character went by the name of Ronnie P and had been a regular there since '75. After Mike served me a few vodka crans I was warming up to the Oak Square crowd. A few other locals, a fella by the name of Vance and his Asian friend (whose name slips my mind at this time) stated that it was a good local hangout, usually on Sunday's during football season. This is probably the best neighborhood in the greater Boston area. The crowd is very friendly, the drinks are cheap, I always enjoy going here during the weekend. You can wear sweat pants if you want - its really relaxed. Lots of beers on tap and they serve mixed drinks as well. Its a great place to go when you don't feel like "going out." You will find a mixed crowd at The Drop - college students, young professionals, and townies as well, which makes The Last Drop a unique experience. read more

Anybody who has been there more than once, will enjoy it. It's the last bar open in town, and always filled with a great group of people. It may be one of the best dive bars around because you know what you can expect from it. They never fail to deliver exactly what you want. Get there around 12 to get in and enjoy a nice little cheap nightcap before you go home for the night. Plenty of space lets you walk around in the bar. Tonight was the last drop of The Last Drop. My friend and I went to The Last Drop to play pool because it's free on Monday nights. I was going to get a drink but at this time it was still pretty early so I was waiting. After about half an hour of playing, the bar tender (heavy set, bald) came up, looked at us, and, without saying a word closed the table and walked away. My friend went to the bar and asked him why he closed it and he told us that the free table was for paying customers. Had he just came over and told us to our faces like a grown man, I would have ordered a drink from him. Normally I am not the one to write a review, and if I do, it's always a good one. I hate to give this place only 2 stars because I played pool with a bunch of the bartenders there and they hosted our group. But I have to say, it's not a great place. I doubt I'd go back there for any reason. I don't live close by and you have to take a bus (no T stop nearby) to get there. Though, there is a lot of parking on the street nearby. I went on a weekday in the summer. From 7pm to 12am there were a total of 5 women who had at one point entered the bar. Everyone there seemed to be local 30/40something guys or 4 dudes who go to BC. I don't blame the bar, but I had no cell reception on the entire block. Shame on you AT&T. When we left, there were about 8 people waiting in line to get in: which would have doubled the number of people inside. There were a bunch of girls too. I'm still wondering what their motive was... I like that there are dart boards and a pool table. The many flatscreens are good for watching the game, but that's all there is to this place. Ok four stars for this place, why you may ask, because its right around the corner from me for the most part. If you live in or near Oak Square in Brighton this is the quintessential dive bar. Nothing special here. The bar stays open late, has great t.v.'s to watch games, the staff is very friendly, they have free darts, a pool table, its very clean, ample seats, the bathroom is clean as well. They will probably have the beer that you like and they serve bottles. You can bring in pizza or other food that is available from establishments near by. The crowd here isn't rowdy or ignorant, usually college kids who live in the area. The worst you'll see is some kid in flip flops and socks. Never saw any problems in this place. I use this place to just grab a beer and watch the Sox, Celtics, or Bruins game when I want to just get out and not sit in the house. Kind of a place to go to give high five's to strangers after a goal, basket, or a home run type deal. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here though. If I lived a mile away I would probably find some place closer, because there's nothing special about this place. read more

Great bartenders and cheap drinks. They have pool and darts also. They don't have a kitchen but are fine with your ordering or bringing in whatever you want (which is nice because you don't have to settle for bar food like at other spots). The daytime and early evening is a mix of locals and professionals who work in the area. At night it is always a mix of locals (young and old), college students, after workout (YMCA) crowds and also after work professionals. They have a jukebox and a good choice of beers on tap. The Friday and Saturday nights bring out a lot of BC kids looking to party. There can be a line around midnight or later so get there early. The staff is warm and inviting. I give this place 5 stars only in the hope that my review is read. Under only very few circumstances should you go to this bar, and those circumstances are listed below. I'm out in Brighton Center with a friend of mine. Sadly, most bars in this area close at 1am, so we head to the Last Drop, which has a later last call. I'm standing in line with a friend of mine and we are next in line to get in. At this point I should mention that my friend happens to be an African-American. We look in the windows of the bar and see it is pretty empty, so we ask the bouncer how long the wait will be, and he tells us that the bar is at max capacity and we will have to wait. While waiting in line, we witness the bouncer let in 11 people (I counted) who arrive and move to the head of the line without waiting and simply enter. After the 11th person gets in (and they were 5 girls and 6 guys) I ask the bouncer why we can't get in. My friend is told that he is not allowed in the bar. We ask for some elaboration, and he is told there isn't more to say, my friend is just not allowed in the bar and we should leave. So if you happen to be white, and are a complete racist who doesn't care about extreme bigotry in modern times, please attend the Last Drop. It'll be nice to keep all of you terrible horrible people in the same place, so we don't have to associate with you at other establishments. Go to this bar if you hate black people. Go to this bar if you hate equality. Go to this bar if you really really like bigotry and racism. Go to this bar so I don't have to see your miserable close-minded faces at other places when I have friends visit. read more
