Relaxed saloon vibes with a bit of a sports motif. Friendly, efficient service. Basket of napkins and wetnaps placed on the table before the wings arrived. Wings with Buffalo Hot on a Friday lunch thankfully didn't come out within a suspicious two minutes of ordering, as my last few have. Smoke rising and piping hot, but only a light splash of sauce, with much of the wings still exposed. Nice bold flavor with pepper and vinegar components intertwining beautifully. Crispness achieved. Tenderness and juiciness, still in the past, at least based on my recent visits. Not totally dry, but too close for a joint that was once my gold standard for wings. Bonus points for mini chunks in the blue cheese. read more

We went Saturday for lunch and are already plotting our next visit. It was very crowded at 12:15 and only got more so; be prepared to wait! It's a small space, nice local pub. Service was quick! I got the Buff's Pale Ale which they have brewed by Harpoon. It was ver good. Their Guinness pours are great too. We got 20 of their mild buffalo and 10 of their Carolina Gold, which came with fries. Everything was beyond delicious. I loved the flavor of the gold and could have handled the medium buffalo. The chicken had crispy skin and there was a ton of meat on each one. A nice even split between flats and drums too. The fries were excellent as well Best wings we've had! read more

First time stopping at Buff's in a few years - still good! Really enjoyed the Wings plate with onion wings, sauce Buffalo Xtra Hot (which is not SUPER hot, but just right). Salad was also good, fresh vegetables and a good size. Friendly bartender - thanks Eduardo. FYI: They DO take credit cards these days, no need to worry about cash. read more

Everything. Best wings I've ever had and I've eaten wings from all over. Staff were very extremely helpful and I enjoyed the local friendliness. read more

Buff's Pub in Newton is a must-visit for chicken wing lovers! Their wings are consistently praised for being juicy, flavorful, and available in a variety of delicious sauces like Honey Hot and Buffalo. The wings have a great crispy texture without being overdone, and the sauces strike a perfect balance of heat and taste. Beyond wings, the menu offers tasty burgers, salads, and classic pub sides like sweet potato fries. The vibe is casual and lively, with plenty of TVs showing sports, making it a great spot for gatherings or catching a game. The staff are friendly and welcoming, though it can get busy during peak hours. Just a heads-up--they only accept cash, which is a bit inconvenient but doesn't detract from the overall experience. If you're in Newton and craving top-notch wings and a fun, laid-back atmosphere, Buff's Pub definitely delivers. read more

Great place keep in mind the bar is open just walk in but the seats you might have to wait a while if it's crowded still have an issue some of the young ones under 21 being near the bar where does alcohol they do try to work around night time don't bring your kids because it's more like 21 during the day do it great place read more

It is all set up for a Sunday football game with five televisions. Wherever the seat, there is a view of one of the screens. There are meters in front with free parking on the side street. It had a rustic look with barn boards on the walls and wood through out. Tables are out front on the sidewalk. I had the buff cheeseburger with Greek salad. The Greek salad was a four dollars more for the substitute. The burger was less so it all evened out. I would definitely return. read more

Saw this wing spot/eatery on the Phantom Gourmet on there great 8 wings spot. There are parking lots in area, but we snagged a curbside space. It's not much for ambiance as it's a pub but the food was excellent. All booths were taken but we were invited to one of the two open bar seats. Seems like a large selection of beers and many special drinks. We had decent captain and coke. We came for the wings so wings it was. My brother enjoyed the wings and have several sizes, small only for eat in and some assorted flavors, we went with classic buffalo and blue cheese. They did come with carrots as this should be a standard. My only critique would be they could have been a little crisper or cook a minute longer. Servers are rather laid back perhaps as so young but were attentive and friendly good local spot to watch a game. I'd definitely return. By the way, sidewalk outdoor seating as tis the season! read more

Had lunch here with a friend yesterday. I have driven right by this place dozens and dozens of times over the years and never realized it was there. I have been reading reviews about how great the wings are here for many years and have wanted to stop in and try them out. Parking was a little tough to find when we arrived at ~12:30 PM. There are 5-6 metered spaces out front but of course they were all taken. I drove around the block and was able to find parking on the side of a dentist office on the block before. I also saw at least one parking lot nearby. Washington street is a very busy street so don't go there expecting to be able to drive from one side to the other jockeying for a parking spot! Anyway, I have read "collegiate" as a description for Buff's Pub and I would agree with that. For me it looked pretty beat but maybe that adds to the ambiance. There are several booths against the wall on the left-hand side and they seemed small but were fine for two people. We ordered fried cheese curds for an appetizer (I believe this was a special for the day), my friend had the sirloin tips with onion rings and some veggies and I had chicken tenders with mild buffalo sauce and fries. The cheese curds were OK. I was in Wisconsin a couple weeks ago and I think everyone there eats cheese curds with every meal and they are really good there - at Buff's they were OK - I thought they fried them too long - the outside of the curds were very hard - you had to really aggressively stab them with a fork to be able to pick one up. My friend really liked his sirloin tips - looked like there were 6-8 nicely sized pieces of meat. The onion rings were large and crunchy. I tried one and it was pretty good. My tenders were good - not the best I've ever had but tasty. I ordered the mild buffalo style and I appreciated that they didn't overdo the sauce and make it hotter than what I was expecting. The fries were shoestring style and were OK - served hot but with no seasoning. There are lots of flavor options for wings and tenders so I think that as long as you like chicken you'll find something here that you'll really like. Our server was very friendly - she mentioned that she had worked there for 23 years and she was very helpful with answering any questions we had. The inside looks old to me but again, maybe folks like that lived-in feel. I thought the place could use an update. I used the bathroom and it looked fairly new and was spotless. The food is pretty solid. I'd go back if given the opportunity. Parking can be tough and since the place is pretty small I would think it gets crowded/noisy on certain evenings but I think overall Buff's Pub is a solid place to enjoy some wings/tenders. If I did go back I would probably try the nachos or the turkey chili. Just sayin'. read more

Really can't get better wings in the Boston area than Buff's. I've never had any other item on their menu and probably never will. No thrills, Buff's is simple and perfect. The place is always busy and doesn't take reservations. You will have to wait a while, so put your name down with them at the front, grab a drink, and watch a game. I usually get the wing plate with Nashville hot sauce. Highly recommend for wings and good times! read more

Buff's Pub. A great establishment. Came for the wings, indulged in the wings. We got the buffalo, honey hot, bourbon peach bbq, bbq, and the teriyaki. Took a new friend here for a late lunch. It was 1:45 PM in the afternoon. Restaurant was packed. We each got 10 wings and a side. Completely stuffed half way through. My friend who doesn't like anything devoured her plate, and I got plain wings with sauce on the side . The waitress we had was kind of rude and disappeared a lot. But her back up a young gentleman filled in where she couldn't . Made it a delightful lunch. I definitely will be back.! read more

The place is small but is known for the best wings in boston. I tried to go one evening a few months back and they told me a 1hr wait lol NO considering there's about nothing around there. So this time around I decided to get it when they open. Service was okay but I give it to the fact the server said they just started working there 2 days ago. Since they weren't busy the wings came out in like 2 mins which was interesting. So the food. Well...They were wings that's for sure. I know the wing sauces I got and yet I couldn't figure out what I was tasting. The flavors did not stand out and I swear one of them which I suspected was the peach bourbon bbq was actually buffalo and they got my order wrong. I'll never know because the check just listed small wings sets but online the buffalo wings looked like what i got. I won't be back but glad I finally went and put my thoughts to rest. Great place. Awesome employees. I make people jealous when I do a check in on Facebook.

Best wings around. No context! The restaurant is always crowded, so we usually get takeout, which is always pretty quick.

Want to feel invisible? Go to Buff's. I stood inside the restaurant for nearly 30 minutes and not a single soul acknowledged my presence. I was SO excited to try Buff's and enjoy a nice seated dinner. So much for that. I drove 30 minutes and paid for parking. It wasn't a total waste, as I ended up just ordering take out via the Toast app. I'm sure the wings will be tasty, but not a great showing service wise. read more

Buff's is a busy little pub known for its wings. I went during a weekday and the place was buzzing, but I was fortunate to find a seat at the bar. They are touted as the best wings in Boston, but they were just ok IMO. Wings were a decent size and they have several flavors to choose from so maybe that is the draw. I opted for the buffalo flavor, extra crispy. The wings fit the profile and tasted like anyone would have expected and were cookee perfectly, but nothing uniquely stood out in terms of flavor. It tasted like a plain wing dipped in a standard buffalo sauce (no zip, zang, or twang) on par with most pubs. They also have specials each night, which the people there seemed to love. Service was ok. Conclusion: the wings are serviceable and will do in a pinch, but would not be my first option. read more

Def on my top 5 list of best French Onion soup. I know that sounds kind've random that this is my go-to order at a wing/sports bar pub, but I'm telling you their French onion soup is sooo good. The mac and cheese is also very good. Creamy, cheesy, tasty. Nothing special but hey, it's definitely not bad so I'll take it. Didn't get any Buffalo wings this time around but of course you can't go to Buff's without trying their wings. Silly Sophie, Trix are for kids. Def will be getting wings the next time I'm there. Parking can be tough. Even to pickup takeout can be hard since you might not be able to double park out front on Washington Street (only because the traffic flow is busy coming right off the mass pike), but if there's a will there's a way! There are some meters out front and a couple side streets you might have luck on. Very much a pub scene inside. TVs on, a smaller space but that adds to the experience, booths, tables, and bar seating available, and picnic tables with umbrellas out front as well. read more

This place is magical. Hidden behind the curtain of a casual, run of the mill sports bar is a collection of the most miraculous set of wings sauces coated over the most perfectly cooked boneless wings in history. We live in Massachusetts but are from Buffalo, NY and these wings taste like home! Don't waste your time going anywhere else, Buffs is the spot for wings. The wing plate is our go to, and will normally add on a French onion soup just to round out the back home food cravings. The service is great, always friendly and quick. The place is pretty small, but they can pack it full and there's a reason it's always busy! Don't sleep on buffs! read more

A longstanding Newton institution, Buff's has been on my list of places to try ever since we moved here and I noticed it one street over from another perennial favorite, Max and Leo's. I've only gotten wings for take-out so I'll have to come back and try dining in - but I have to say, I do enjoy eating wings in the privacy of my own home, with gloves on. We ordered the buffalo (mild and spicy), the lemon and pepper, and the Nashville hot. Yours truly is a wimp when it comes to spiciness so I mostly stuck with the mild. The wings were delicious - good amount of meat on the bone, generous slathering of sauce. They also reheated well. This place must make a killing on Super Bowl Sunday. Parking situation is bad, you're better off trying to find a spot in the parking lot one street over or on a side street. During warmer months, they have outdoor seating but it's right next to Washington which feeds on/off the pike, meaning lots of exhaust and honking. read more

I dream about their honey hot tender plate constantly. It is the best wing/tender flavor I've ever had. The pub is small but comfortable and feels like community. Ever since coming to Boston, I've been dying to try out these wings! I've heard so many great things and I know it's a great local spot. I went with a group of 4 and we got there at a perfect time and were seated immediately. I know that there was a line afterward but it was fine for us! It's a relatively small establishment and you might be a bit close to someone else but adds to the cozy atmosphere. We also surprisingly got our food very fast and the server was super attentive to our friend's gluten allergy. I ordered the 10 wing plate with Traditional buffalo sauce, fries, and ranch. I really liked the sauce and had a great level of heat. The ranch wasn't very thick so it coated the wings nicely and balanced out with the sauce. The fries were standard, not bad but not mind-blowing. I will say, the wings were a bit overcooked in my opinion. Some of the crust was a bit hard and the meat could've been softer. It's $20 for the plate and I was definitely full. They have a long list of wing sauces though and I'd love to go back and try some more! I saw someone next to me order the Garlic Parm and put Buffalo sauce on top and it looked fantastic. I'll be ordering that next time! They also started accepting credit cards here so you don't have to worry about getting cash anymore! read more

Came back after 7 years and was psyched to go back to my old stomping grounds. The bartender has zero personality- it was as if he was doing us a favor to take our order. Pauly Shore told us all to just Buff the Wood! In Boston, he should declare it Buff the wings! Small place but I felt the charm as soon as we walked in. Christmas lights (it's December) and people gathered around the bar cheering on the World Cup Soccer and Sunday football. People were just enjoying themselves here. It was packed. Tight space. They do have high chairs and was acceptable at the hour we went to (around 3:30pm) for kids to be eating wings. The onion rings were just how I like them. Plentiful and thick. The wings- good. I had garlic cheese siracha. It was more siracha than anything. I am glad I tried it but next time I would try something else. My big win of the day, and I know this is ridiculous at a wing place- the Garlic Balsamic dressing was DELICIOUS! My husband even agreed. I would definitely eat wings with Pauly Shore at Buff's. read more

Very good bone- in wings but pricey. Hidden add on fees don't make for a pleasant dining experience. Ordered 10 wings for $17 bucks asked about a side salad. It was explained to me that I could get a little salad instead of fries and they call it a wing plate. I said ok knowing the wing plate was $19 dollars. She would substitute the fries for a little salad instead. I get the bill not only did they up charge me to the 19 dollar plate charge which was to be expected. There was an additional $3.50 fee for a substitution that was never mentioned. They gave me 2 small ranch dressings and I assumed one for the wings and one for the salad but honestly 10 wings with one little ranch to dip was inadequate so I asked for another. $1.50 up change for a small dressing that should have been included. I understand charging extra for people who order excessive extras but 10 wings for one little side to dip in was not adequate. It's a shame these little things took away from the experience because as stated the wings were good. Not sure I would bother returning. read more
