Very cool place to stop by for a craft beer and/ or to watch a game. They have a large number of craft beers on tap (not just IPAs) and the prices were reasonable. I ordered a Shepard's pie and it was tasty, but small. Will try something else on their menu next time. My wife ordered the burger and was happy with it and the fries. The place is worth a visit. It does not have much curb appeal (located on a strip on Main Street), but they went all out on decorations inside. Great atmosphere, delicious food, and the best staff around. The fun Irish decor adds so much charm--you'll always spot something new. The staff and chef even remember that my daughter loves extra lemon with her kids' fish & chips and extra cherries in her Shirley Temple. That level of care says it all. The new owners have done a fantastic job keeping the heart of the place alive while adding their own special touches. What an improvement since they've taken over! Good luck getting an online or a phone order in. I have been here before and the food is always excellent. They have put a new online order system in where you are charged immediately and then they have to accept the order manually with in 2.5 minutes. They missed accepting the order 3 separate times tonight so it was automatically canceled each time and I have to wait for a refund. The message I got said either the restaurant is too busy or there are technical difficulties. I tried to call and sat on hold for 6 minutes before I gave up. If you are busy you should turn off online ordering since this is pretty frustrating. read more

My family visited Tommy Doyle's for dinner on a Friday evening when we happened to be nearby. There were a fair number of people at the bar, but the restaurant side was quite empty. Overall, our experience was decent. We were seated and served quite quickly, and the staff were attentive enough. I ordered the fish Reuben with sweet potato fries while my husband chose the fish and chips. The food was fine, certainly not the best fish and chips we've found in the area, but it made for a decent meal. This isn't our top choice for an Irish pub or a place we'd go out of our way to visit, but if we're in Nonantum and hungry, we'd stop by again. read more

The new manager, Austin, exceeded our expectations and seems to have improved morale of the waitstaff (we've always loved them but they seem happier now). We came in tonight for the annual tree lighting ceremony for Nonantum Village. We've been coming to this event for 8 yrs, when we first moved here. I've been to "Tommy's" at least 50 times since. This was by far the worst dining experience I've had anywhere in a very long time. I work at one of the neighborhood schools in the Lake and also work at a local family restaurant for the past 8 yrs. The server/ manager "Austin" took care of us. After sitting down for almost 10 minutes, Austin greeted us. The staff said they were "slammed". There were 6 tables sat when we got there... the bar had a table of 3 and 3 people sitting barside... hardly slammed coming from a bartender. We got one round of drinks... and eventually got our daughter's lemonade. My wife ordered a hot dog with fries for our child, a Greek salad and a combo plate that we've ordered many times in the past. Our salad arrived and looked delicious (my wife enjoyed it), the combo platter was missing the chicken tenders so we didn't touch it thinking it may be another tables and no hot dog. The other server came over while cleaning the table next to us and we asked if he could check on the hot dog, and he said he would. We also informed him of the combo platter and he took it back to the kitchen. We tried to order another round, but he didn't hear us. Austin came to the table and wondered if we ordered the hot dog with someone else. It was the first thing we ordered when he took our order. The combo platter arrived back at the table quickly, which was great! Unfortunately, I cut the chicken to serve to our daughter since the hot dog would probably take a few minutes. The chicken was undercooked and raw in the middle. At that point I had enough. I paid my tab while the other server was at the host station. Austin returned with our check and just put it on the table with zero eye contact and no apology for this woeful experience. If Tommy's is still open in 12 months I'd be shocked. read more

I met a friend Saturday 12/7 to grab food & drinks and watch a Bruins matinee game on tv. The place was empty when I got there, but the crowd grew to bustling as the afternoon passed. The bar tender was alone and was very attentive servicing both the bar and restaurant areas by himself, while still managing to offer up a friendly greeting to new patrons that entered the establishment. We shared nachos and a turkey club that were both solid. I was especially impressed with the service, which was exemplary. read more

The beef stew was tasty but it was mostly broth. It contained 4 beef chunks, 5 carrots pieces, 5 potato pieces and no mashed potato, contrary to the menu description. For 22 bucks, it's an astonishing rip off. Their own online order system didn't work for this order but GrubHub did. That probably explains why this stew was so expensive for so little stew: they had to recoup the cost that GrubHub took. Maybe they should fix their own system so they can charge a reasonable amount for this stew and still get a reasonable profit. Thumbs down. read more

Tommy Doyle's discriminates against handicap customers. I am a handicapped customer who tried to get help with a problem that I had at the restaurant. I spoke to a waitress who was as kind as could be and tried to help me with my problem. When I asked her to speak to a manager, she, politely tried to help me. However, this is where the problem began. I was put on the phone with someone who claimed to be the manager, but then told me that he was not the manager. He treated me with complete disrespect and laughed at my handicapped position. He took pleasure in speaking over me and hanging up the phone on me and then, blocking me from calling back. I have owned restaurants most of my life and have never seen an employee act this way towards a customer. If I ever saw something like this at one of my restaurants, I would have fired the person immediately on the spot in front of the customer. I don't know what is wrong with people being polite, and customer service these days. People don't care about their jobs and the fact that this person is discriminating against me as a handicap person is disgusting. I was ordering from this place for the first time. I will try to contact the manager about the disgraceful way that his employee acted. However, eating there will be very difficult after the experience that I had. Shame on you, Tommy Doyles. Your employee was obviously raised by parents who didn't have, the decency to raise their child with any respect towards anyone. read more

I wish I could give this place less than one star for how rude their staff is! A group of friends and I planned to go to Tommy Doyle's for a few drinks on a Saturday night after a local concert. Considering that Tommy's is our local bar, we were excited to end our night at one of our go-to spots. We arrived and were immediately asked for our IDs (understandable) and before we could even present our IDs we're told we could not be served. The entire group is of age and no one was acting out of line. The bartender was extremely short and rude about it, leaving us shocked and disappointed. Service has always been friendly and attentive , even when place is busy. They certainly can pour a beer or serve up some Jamasen , but do not expect anything more from bartenders.
