Let's just cut to the chase. This is a lovely venue for a sports bar. If I had showed up to watch the big game ordering beer or drinks, I suspect my review would be quite different. Alas, I came with my wife and daughter for a late dinner. And on that basis, it fails. Question. How does one ruin onion rings? Seriously. I've never been to a sports bar that botched fried menu items. The onion rings were rubbery and over-fried to oblivion. Not to mention, there were five of them. Five onion rings? Was it a small order? No. And they weren't the giant ones where you could say, ok I get it -- those are giant onion rings. The order was five average sized onion rings, which ended up being four too many since they were inedible. Not a good start. I had the fish and chips (I ordered this before I knew this place didn't know how to make bar food). The order was two small over-fried fish portions, and a handful of fries. The fish wasn't as epically bad as the onion rings, but they weren't good by even my lowly Michigan standards. The fries were ok and that measure makes them the strongest fare of the meal. Wife's salad was drenched with dressing. Daughter's fettuccini Alfredo was watery and weird tasting. The ambiance is great for a sports bar. Great old features and ample tvs to see the game. I reserved a table for 12 people online for a business event and called the day before to confirm. I reached voicemail and left a message but never received a response. Came for an after work bite and sat at the bar . The place was relatively empty, but it still took the waiter about five minutes to acknowledge my presence. Once he greeted me, his overall demeanor seem to change and he was pretty friendly. The fries were great, and the clam chowder had a pretty decent amount of clams in it, but the top of it was lukewarm, and the inside was piping hot as if it was microwaved . The cauliflower arrived to me room temperature. Espresso martini was amazing and I have no complaints about that. the overall atmosphere of this place as a sports bar all the TVs had different sports games playing. Very lively place on Thursday night I went very exciting atmosphere the waiter wish I got his name was incredible young man with classes. My daughter worded a Beveridge she came back saying sorry I don't have it. He then made a suggestion what she tried and liked on the second Beveridge he brought my daughter, looked at it after a while, and said that's not Chardonnay mention it to him and he goes I'll go check. He came back and said no we're out of that particular Chardonnay would give you something different. I'm so sorry. He removed it from the Bill Half hour later we're ready to order another Beveridge and the young man made a suggestion with my daughter thoroughly enjoyed. Came here for our 15 year anniversary lunch. We walk by or ride by all the time and always wanted to see what it's about. Glad we did ! We got there about 10 minutes after it opened. We were able to sit anywhere. We didn't wait long for someone to take our order and the food came out quickly. I got the Margherita flat bread. It was thin and perfect. My husband got the grilled chicken sandwich. He enjoyed it. I stole some of his fries. They were deliciously salty. He got a Guinness. I got a Riesling. We went here for an expresso martini late one afternoon because the online menu said the restaurant offered three types. When we asked the bartender about this, she said she was a sub and wasn't really familiar with the menu. A server overheard the conversation and explained that they offered two types of expresso martinis: creamy and dark. I haven't written in Yelp for years but I was so frustrated and annoyed by the service, I needed to write the bad review. Food was fine-nothing remarkable but not terrible. No host or hostess upon entering and waited a while. Terrible smell inside like a combo of cleaning products and rotted food. Waited forever to get drinks, ordered food and waitress disappeared after that. Someone from the kitchen brought us the meals and spilled greasy butter on my leg from the mashed potatoes that were part of my order and quickly disappeared. We ate are our food-it was ok. We finished and waited for an hour to see our waitress. She never came out again for over an hour after we were done with the food. We could of easily just skipped out on the bill but we were honest and just went inside the restaurant and our waitress was just socializing with another waitress and then finally noticed us. In her mind, we were just an afterthought and finally gave us our bill. I look at it and see that 20% was already added for just TWO people for awful service. The tip was automatic and wait staff get away with doing a crap job because their 20% is guaranteed. I am going to go out of my way to tell all people how terrible this place is and warn to never go. A great hole in the wall bar/resturant/ entertainment room for comedy nights, trivia nights and other events! We visited for the first (of many to come) times to checkout a comedy night. They have another coming up September and I highly recommend checking it out for a cool date night out, friends night, or just to checkout something new and fun! They had a special for the night where you can select an appetizer, meal, and dessert for $35 a must try and we'll worth it. The portions were more filling than we expected so next time my boyfriend and I will share but we definetly took home the delicious leftovers. They had dim lighting to set where one side is reserved for folks just watching the show maybe ordering drinks, and the other for those having their meal and its a great setup where even as we were in the back (having arrived late) we still had a good view of the comedians. We were served by Caprese (it was hard to hear while the sets were happening so not sure I got their name right) who was super awesome ! Patient, kind and willing to work with our requests. Flatbread pizza was bland - tomatoes cut way too thick and bread still doughy in many parts.
