Pretty good hot pot place, we did everything à la carte and it was about $45 per person. The fish here isn't as good even though we got the more expensive option, it's a little too sinewy. Otherwise good broth, meat, and decent variety of vegetables. They have water cress, quail eggs and winter melon, but don't have pumpkin. We were seated pretty quickly, service was fine, parking can be challenging in the area. It seems like they have AYCE during lunch which id want to try next time.

We decided to try LaMei Hot Pot again the other day, this time for lunch! I wasn't aware that they had AYCE lunch before; not sure if it's a new change but they offer AYCE daily, from 11:30am-4:30pm! They offer AYCE hotpot, regular + premium/"VIP", with the regular AYCE price @$28.95/pp & VIP for an additional $10/pp, so $38.95. We opted for the regular AYCE option. What we ordered for regular AYCE: -BROTH: two flavor broth, bones & tomato -sliced premium beef -sliced premium chicken -handmade shrimp paste -sliced flounder -fish tofu -oyster mushrooms (just realized as I'm typing that we never received this after 2 orders lol) -baby bok choy -napa cabbage -fresh corn -hand pulled noodles Thoughts: Not too shabby. For the price of regular AYCE hotpot, it reminds me of Happy Lamb, as the prices are very similar. Happy Lamb has more variety available for regular AYCE including free drinks, fish balls w/ roe, etc. Also prefer the broths at Happy Lamb more BUT I will say, the meat cuts are better at LaMei. It has been around a year since we lasted tried LaMei for the first time. The first time, we came for a la carte hotpot dinner & found that our experience was just all right. With our most recent visit for AYCE lunch, I would say that my opinion hasn't changed much. I didn't find the broth to be too impressive & broths didn't have much flavor depth to them... very average. I think I will still continue going to Happy Lamb for AYCE but perhaps I will try their VIP AYCE in the future and see if that alters my experience! Parking: meter street parking.

I came for the lunch AYCE which now runs Monday-Sunday 11:30-4:30. It's such a good deal and a variety of meats, veg, and tofu. You can order multiple rounds of food and the sauce bar is included. If you like spicy know that this place runs very spicy. We went with the mild spicy and it was perfect. Their bone broth is also great. Their meat portions are generous and definitely get the beef. When we arrived we joined the waitlist but was quickly seated. It's a very nice family friendly place

Highly recommend. The broths were super tasteful, service was fast and no fuss. The meat and veggie quality was very fresh. Good selection of sake, the sauce bar was up to the mark. Will love to go back again.

They have buffet. The basic set is like $30, with more premium ingredients, it'll be $10 more. They say their broth is more spicy than other restaurants so we got the mild. But the mild is very mild to us. The mushroom broth smells very good. When the meat was first served, they don't look too appetizing. But the taste is pretty good. The spicy marinated beef is super spicy. The shrimp paste is pretty good. Their hand pulled noodles are really hand pulled as they did it right before they were served. They have plenty of tables on Saturday noon time.

The place is small, but the food and service is good. I was about to get the medium level of spicy beef tallow broth, but the waiter insisted that I get mild instead. I listened to him and I am very thankful because I don't think I would be alive eating the medium level LOL. It's spicier and I think tastier than my favorite: Happy Lamb. They even have the same sauce ingredients, so I didn't have any issue making my go-to sauce. The regular bone broth is good too and you can definitely taste the bone flavor. The meat is good quality, but veggies and noodles selection can be bigger. If they were AYCE all day, I would come all the time. I loved the mango shaved snow. The whipped cream was sweet and the Bugles chips add the surprise element of saltiness. I would love to come again during AYCE hours.

The service here is great and I love that they have a coat rack and protectors to keep the hot pot smells out of our jackets. Beware that the sauce bar costs extra per person. Caution on the spice as well; they're not playing around. The bone broth and the premium spicy broth are both really good, but the spicy one was definitely spicy. We got the medium, but we might try the mild next time. The snowflake short rib, the napa cabbage, the meatballs, and beef tongue were all super delicious. I highly recommend it!

This was my first hot pot experience! We came in pretty late on a Sunday night, and were given a table immediately. Overall, I would say this was a good experience - of what we ordered, I enjoyed everything. However, I wish we were given a bit more guidance on how much to order. We both left a bit hungry - but didn't order more because it seemed they were cleaning up for the night. However, definitely interested to try again and try more variety!

Bone broth with veggies and tofu. The broth is good. Veggies are veggies lol

Huge shout out to the most awesome waiter -A Tan ( hope I got his name right... Omg I'm getting old, can't remember his name right now!). Service here is great, very attentive. A Tan even went out of his way to help me with an unusual request even though I was not assigned to him. So if you stop by and are lucky enough to get seated in his section, you'll get great service that's typically not found in Chinese restaurants ( sad but true). Now onto the food. I had the bone broth with tofu combo and bunch of vegetables. Everything tasted great. You can make your own sauce at the sauce bar. I was in the mood for vegetable soup, so this hotpot definitely hit the spot. Overall, a great dinner. The only con of this place is that it's quite expensive. I spent over $50 for just 1 person

FINALLY went here after walking by it so many times and seeing all of my friends go to it. Hmmmmm ... so many thoughts. I really wanted to LOVE it and have it be my new favorite hot pot place because everyone else seems to rave about it, but my experience really didn't fulfill this destiny. I still really liked it ... but I can't say it's my favorite or that I am in love with it. First, I found it excruciatingly overpriced. What is $100 at another hot pot place was almost $200 here. For me, it just wasn't worth the extra cost. I eat a lot of veggies and simple beef, which is basic at every hot pot place, so for me ... why pay like almost double??? I will say, however, is that they have a lot of exotic meats and offerings. I'm thinking that this may be the reason people love this place so much. Unfortunately, I pass on those items. Second, the quality control of this place really could use some work. They appear to have a more upscale, sophisticated vibe, in order to have a higher price point. They have the exotic meats and offerings, as well as coat covers for your coat. All nice ... but PLEASE have clean dishes and utensils!!! There were many dishes at the "sauce" and "side dish" bar that were not 100% clean. Still had dried food on them. Had to search for a bowl that was clean. Then ... a glass and a utensil at our table were also not clean. Our waiter brought us a clean glass, but he brought us the wrong utensil replacement. We had to ask for a new utensil again, which appeared to annoy him. Kind of off-putting. I Lastly, some things I really loved about this place were its mushroom broth and its hand pulled noodles. Both items were very tasty and stood out when compared to other hot pot places. Those things will help me come back to this place one day to try it again and hopefully have a better experience. I know this review is atypical from other patron's ... I just feel that the cost of this place did not outweigh the benefits.

I walked by this place all the time and finally got a group together to go! The service here is above and beyond. Not only do they give you bibs for the hotpot, someone also brought me a hair tie to pull my hair back The food was good--spicier than I expected, but super satisfying. It's family style, unlike the individualized hot pot at spring and the like. Overall a great experience and would recommend! The sauce bar is extra, but with the other stuff like fruit and etc I feel like it's worth the splurge.

The staff was incredibly friendly, and I think I only waited 5 minutes from when I ordered to when the food was ready to take away, so that's pretty amazing! I ordered: Lunch special ($11.45) - The price alone here is incredible. You get a good variety of food and a good amount as well for what feels like pre-pandemic prices. I've seen a lot of lunch specials being raised to more than $15 or so recently, so the fact that this one is only $11.45 is a great deal. It also came in a tupperware with a big section and a small section, and I would have expected the rice to go in the big section and the main to go in the smaller one, but they did the opposite - so you get a really large and nice portion of your main course! The actual food I got was: Crab rangoons - These were nicely fried and the filling had noticeable pieces of imitation crab in it. I also liked the savory flavor, as some places make their filling sweeter, but this was more on the savory and salty side. Very nice crab rangoon. Pork fried rice - This was the iffy one. The flavor was on point, but the rice itself was hard and felt undercooked. It wasn't inedible, but it was definitely noticeable, though covering it in the lobster sauce made up for it. If I had ordered the fried rice alone without a sauce, I would have been pretty disappointed. Shrimp with lobster sauce - This came with 4 shrimps which is pretty standard, but it was an above average lobster sauce in my opinion. It was nice and gooey, salty, and savory, and the shrimp was very meaty. This was definitely the star of the lunch, and I had some leftover to eat with white rice for my next meal! All in all, I'd definitely come back - the price along is a great deal, and I'd like to see if the fried rice would be better on a second time around. The appetizer and main were great tasting, and the service was incredibly fast and friendly. 4/5 stars - I'd absolutely have this again!

Each of the times I remembered were tasty. The ambiance when you arrive is dramatic Chinese music in the background which makes it somewhat difficult to converse with your group. Most recently we arrived with a group of 8 for our 7:30 pm reservation without any issues. All the other tables were full but we noticed the restaurant cleared out after an hour of us being there past the peak hours. They gave us 2 containers of the standalone spicy powder so people could add on as they wanted and the less spice tolerant in our group weren't saddled with the consequences. I tried the following dishes: Lamb & Beef Kebabs - 3 sticks per order I preferred the beef texture and taste over the lamb. BBQ Lamb Ribs - they said this was the only dish that came default spicy but I didn't think it was that spicy. the smoking in the raised wooden container gave it additional flavor. I preferred lamb ribs over the kebabs. Torched Beef - one of the favorites for our table the sauce with it was also super tasty. Big Squid - challenging to cut but they give a lot of pieces and generous portion with a special sauce. Grandma's juicy pork buns - on the small side, topped with black sesame and sauce you can add on the side. it was juicy as advertised. Cucumber salad - refreshing and included peanuts for texture and flavor. Fried tofu - not too memorable but the fried texture was tasty. Bok choy - I enjoyed the sauce spread across this veggie dish. Shiitake & King Oyster Mushroom - these are 2 separate orders but I can't remember which was the skewer and which was on a regular plate. Both were overall tasty. Cauliflower - Another solid veggie option but nothing too memorable if you want to focus mainly on protein. BBQ Bread slice - one of the inauthentic cuisines and it's like French toast Kaoijiu dragon yogurt- I was expecting more dragon fruit flavor so that was a bit disappointing but it still tasted good overall. I am not sure it's worth the $10 dessert price. Overall solid food options and we didn't have any leftovers so it ended up being ~$40-60 per person depending if people also ordered drink/dessert. Worth checking out if you haven't had a chance to before they are gone forever!

Really exciting place focused on Northwest Chinese cuisine…read more The signature dish, the hand-pulled beef noodle soup, had a fairly light, but subtle, flavor. The noodles themselves I wish were chewier (got the 'flat' but probably should have gone for 'extra wide'), and perhaps it'd been nice to have some different textures inside the soup (e.g. something crunchy). The scallions in the soup were also too wide, and needed to be sliced more thinly. The beef pancake was quite decent, though the edges didn't have enough beef and the middles had too much beef. The beef was tender, though I might have liked it more flaky. The sauce inside the pancake was somewhat unevenly applied, and a bit too sweet. I wonder if a dipping sauce (maybe a vinegar?) would have helped. The blueberry with mashed yams was fascinating. It was listed under appetizers, and wondered why the dish came out last. But the dish was a bit sweet (naturally!) and so it actually worked as a light modest dessert! The wait staff was spot on after all in putting out the dish last. The stir-fried cabbage dish was beautiful! It was appropriately crunch, yet using good wok hey. The salt level was a bit high, but the spice level was good. Their spice ratings were a bit timid to what I encounter in Szechuan restaurants (the 'regular' level seemed to be more 'mild-regular'). The stir-fried cumin potato was delicious; nicely flavored, nicely charred. Some bits were a bit oily but the cook on the potato was really neat. Will revisit!!!

Also, the potato balls in the beef brisket with potato are a sleeper hit. Unfortunately, the dish was mostly beef and not potato haha unusual gripe. Service is normal, efficient, on the attentive side for a chinese place. Interior is nice and new and clean. We did the AYCE all-you-can-eat on a Monday (they only do it…read moreMonday and Tuesdays) - got there around 7:30p and even though it was very full, we got seated quickly with a table for 3. It's $50 for the regular AYCE or $80 for the Premium AYCE. We opted for the former, and it was plenty great. We have done lots of AYCE sushi and I will say this is the BEST of them - I think it's because it's the same grade sushi as they would normally do Ala carte on other nights. The $50 menu had plenty of sashimi and regular nigiri (sushi with rice) options and some Thai too. We had mostly the sashimi Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Octopus, a few rolls, some edamame, gyoza, shumai. My favorites were the salmon, as the cuts were large, thick and amazing silky, and the gyoza, as it was perfectly crispy. The Pad Thai was bit way too sweet for my taste - a skip for me next time. The decor is very nice - reminded me of a dive Tokyo bar. Service was quick and very attentive. We will be back!

Came here for the $40 AYCE a few weeks ago and came back tonight to try the premium $80 AYCE…read more The $40 option is now $50, and definitely the only one I'd recommend. The premium upgrades really are not worth the price difference, especially since they told us they were out of uni only AFTER we had already placed our first order. A server came back and said, pretty unapologetically, "I forgot to tell you we sold out of the uni." It felt like a bait and switch and was really disappointing. They should have let us know before we ordered, or honestly before we were even seated, and at least offered some kind of accommodation or discount. The only premium items that felt worth an upcharge were the torched salmon and salmon roe. The otoro was not very fatty, and the wagyu was just ok, sliced a bit too thin and not very tender. The scallops and sweet shrimp were also ok. The $50 AYCE is a decent value. The sashimi cuts are thick and the quality is high for AYCE. The salmon is my hands down favorite. But tonight's experience was disappointing enough that I probably would not return. And ultimately there are other AYCE spots that offer slightly lower quality at a much lower price, and thus feel more worth it.
