I came to Blue Sakura with my gf on a cold evening when we were craving hot pot. It's AYCE (all you can eat), so you pay a set price that includes all the vegetables and proteins. We were given an iPad and, since it was our first time here, they explained to us how you can order anything in the iPad (including the broth) and they'd bring it straight to the table. The menu has a ton of options, ranging from appetizers to vegetables, noodles, proteins for the hot pot, plus lots of beverages and snacks (including ice cream). You're given a 90-minute limit, which is more than enough time, especially because the service is incredibly fast. Pro tip: order your broth and a few starter items first, then decide what else you want. We took forever deciding what we wanted and then everything showed up at once, which was overwhelming. Do NOT sleep on this place. I'd been eyeing Blue Sakura for some time, and the one detail that stopped me from going for so long was that the pricing for meat on the weekends was significantly higher than some other hot pot places that I frequent. HOWEVER, you do not need to get the meat and seafood price at all. The regular AYCE for $29.95 is still an extremely good option, and that's what I got when I went. To be clear, the non-meat option doesn't mean that it's vegetarian. While it does exclude all of the raw meat and seafood that you put into hotpot, it still has a good amount of protein in the form of things like fish balls, tofu, imitation crab, fried pork, and ALL OF THE DIM SUM. The shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, shrimp rice rolls, and fried pork shumai were all so so so so good. Let me say that it's probably not as good quality as an actual dim sum restaurant, but the AYCE component of dim sum is amazing, and they have a really large selection of items to order. We ended up ordering a LOT of portions of the soup dumplings and shrimp dumplings. On the sweeter side, the custard bun, red bean mochi, durian balls, and fried brown sugar stuffed rice cakes were amazing. If I had to pick favorites, the red bean mochi and rice cakes were on the top, but everything was really great and we got filled up before we could try all of the items we actually wanted. They've made lots of improvements in their service over a short period of time as well. Firstly, their broths have improved a lot. It is similar to spring shabu where meat and seafood is a la carte, but this place offers A LOT more - including dim sum, appetizers, and hot side dishes. I tried to order a few of everything but I came late at 9:30 on Wednesday and last call is at 10. It's nice out the portions are smaller so you don't waste food, and you order everything via an iPad. I got the sukiyaki chicken broth, it was alright nothing too fancy. Everything was pretty standard and with a price of $25 before tip and tax, excluding a la carte, that price is hard to beat. They have a sauce bar as well as a soda fountain that is included. The place isn't too big but it isn't small, so I can definitely see this place getting packed on a weekend. It's very clean and very modern. What is also amazing is the SERVICE! Even though they knew last call was at 10, they made sure my food came out quickly and let me know when the kitchen is closing multiple times. I believe my server was Mikael (it was the only name on the receipt) but he was super accommodating and even recommended that the mango bun pairs well with ice cream which he was not wrong. We made our way there this weekend, it was move in weekend for the college kids - that was fun.....once we got past that, we scored a spot a block down and made our way in! The place is AYCE except for meat and seafood options, those are a la carte. We ordered chicken and fish and the rest was off the AYCE menu which included some appetizer and dim sum options. Now before you come thinking it's going to offer all the lovelies from your dim sum restaurant, be forewarned - there are only some selections, my guess is the offerings are the items that are quick to pump out so you're not gonna be getting ribs and chicken feet here but more so dumplings and buns. Our faves from the dim sum menu were the soup dumplings, both the regular and the sweet potato one along with your appetizer staples such as seaweed salad and takoyaki. Broths were decent and I always appreciate individual pots. Service was quick, efficient and friendly, ordering is off a tablet and soda and water are completely self serve AND included with the price! Win in my book. The place isn't super huge but big enough to hold a decent amount of ppl with 2 tops and 8 tops that they use a divider to become 4 tops. A few things that were off putting - we got there at 1230 and the menu stated Tonkotsu was sold out, I found that strange since that's a pretty standard broth to offer and also we didn't do our homework ahead of time - the restaurant closes from 2-5pm so at 130, we were told that the kitchen would be closing soon, anything else we wanted to please put in soon. I'll start with the good: decent prices for hotpot, including with meat especially during lunch hours. They have a decent selection of dim sum buns and some appetizers that go along with the actual hotpot stuff that you can order if you want some variety. Place is clean and they have a decent size sauce bar. What bugs me about this place is that, if they're even a little busy, half of what you order never comes out. Ordered 8 things and 3 came out. 20 minutes later, still nothing. Asked the waitress twice (although she was very kind and apologetic!), and after 15 more minutes ONE plate of meat from our order came out. Extremely frustrating considering it was $36 per head at that time of day and you're on a time limit. Additionally, every item is frozen except the veggies and some noodles, so you're not really paying extra for high quality. In all fairness, we came again at an un-crowded lunch hour and everything came out on time. So my advice is go during an uncrowded lunch hour instead of a dinner hour- not only is it a better price but you actually get the food that you pay for. TLDR: it's way too pricey to go during dinner hours and get 1/3 of the meat you ordered. Go during lunch, you'll get mostly frozen stuff but for the price and variety, it's not bad! read more

I have tried (I think) every single hotpot in the Boston area and when it first opened I wasn't very interested in trying it due to it not being fully all you can eat. They did recently add all you can eat with meat pricing and I decided to try it for lunch since it is $24 including meat. I went into it knowing that the reviews weren't great so I think that helped to lower my expectations. I chose the lunch price including meat with 2 broths which is $2 more and got spicy miso and sukiyaki. I saw reviews saying that the food takes a while to come out so I quickly ordered my broth first. One thing they didn't tell me was that you have to wait 5 minutes between orders so it wouldn't let me order my food. I told the server and she said oh sorry I forgot to tell you, you will have to wait until this time to order. Definitely a weird rule and I've never seen this at any all you can eat restaurant. The only thing you order through the server is which type of all you can eat you want and you get everything else yourself including water. The sauce bar was decent and had all of the basics but the garlic didn't look fresh. I ordered 3 beef, sweet potato noodles, konjac noodles, napa cabbage, fried tofu and bean curd. I like how they give you small amounts of each and everything was fresh. The first 3 beefs I had were okay quality; a little tough but when I ordered more later the quality was much better. The spicy miso broth had decent flavor and kind of tasted tomato -ey, and the sukiyaki was decent too (neither were exceptionally good). I ended up eating 6 beefs along with everything else so I feel like $27 ($24 plus $2 for the two broths) plus tip was a good price for what I got. For me, the highlights were being able to pick 2 broths in a mini pot and the $24 price for ayce meat for lunch. Otherwise, I wouldn't come here and pay the full price since I don't think it is worth it. I also find it frustrating tipping 18-20% when 95% of the service you do yourself. After choosing your base flavor, you then have the opportunity to choose all the entrees, veggies, noodles, and the extra goodies! Easily the best group dining experience I have had in Boston. The inside of the restaurant is very nice but the sauce bar can get crowded easily. The sauce bar had some of the sauces switched (vinegar was where the soy sauce was) and some of the spoons were dirty. The unlimited drink machine was broken when we were there. First off, it took about 35 minutes for our RAW FOOD and soup broths to come out. Which is unreal during a non-busy lunch. The dim sum would take equally as long and somehow come out cold. There was also paper on our ha gao. When we put in our round two, it took equally as long and eventually we had to leave soon because our lunch break was almost over so we cancelled our round 2 but then it came out 2 minutes later. The waiters were extremely nice and apologetic but the food was just not good. Overall, I'd rather pay a few more dollars and eat at an AYCE place that includes the meat or faster service. They have individual pots for each guest which is great, and iPads for ordering which also makes things a little easier. Because of the all-you-can-eat, we ordered a LOT. Besides this, I liked that the food comes in smaller portions so you don't over order easily, and the food came relatively quickly for how busy it was. The biggest downfall is the broths. They had many choices like spicy miso, sukiyaki, tonkotsu, tomato, curry, and more. Our party of 6 tried different bases and they all were very disappointing. The broth wasn't just lacking flavor, it was just so watered down and packed with msg that it really tasted like a pot of water with a tablespoon of soysauce or like a sprinkle of instant ramen broth. Now my dining partner and I arrived around 12:20 pm yesterday for lunch, we were greeted by grab a seat by the host desk, even though a number of tables were open. After about 5 minutes my partner asked a wait staff walking by if we could get a seat, he then took us to our table, Once at the table we were presented with a tablet to order. Now in principle, this seemed convenient, but its function was a bit quirky. When we were seated we were told we had one hour to order, to this moment I am still not sure this was because we came in at 12:20 or that's all that you get is one hour. So we started on the tablet and the clock was ticking, you first have to pick a soup base, we chose after reading a bit, with the clock ticking. We ordered the base and submitted the order to the kitchen to get things going. We continued to pick items and tried to submit a second time, this time the order was refused, until a certain time. We asked for help a couple of times. Now the interface was saying to retry order at a later time. We tried repeatedly and sometimes the order was taken other times the order was refused. It was explained to us the kitchen can only handle so many orders at once and to keep trying, We were about a 1/2hr into it by the time the base came and some peas. After we ate for a bit, we were getting warnings to get orders into the kitchen that was closing, we really hadn't been eating much up until this time. So we didn't want to waste food, we had no idea how big the meat orders were, so more was ordered at our cost even though we really had no measure as to what we would get. Even more frustrating was a message about gotcha and a count kept popping up when ordering, we have no idea what this is about, but it just added to the ridiculous experience, a taunting, and by now I felt like they got me from the time I walked in. We won't be back. This rushed meal ended with us paying 80+ for lunch including tips for two with no paid drinks. A bit high for an AYCE hot pot place, but it was a lesson for AYCE hotpot in the Boston area. One last point, when we were ordering the tablet tried to sign us up for membership to get reduced prices each time you come, once we found out about the membership cost, we didn't continue with it, but all the prices on the tablet displayed then member prices, so at checkout the bill was more of a surprise. No one advised us about the free soda you could get yourself or even the sauce area, but since we did a lot of hotpot over the years, so the sauce logistics we were familiar with. With the price $36,99+ tax and tip, for eating all the frozen food. We asked for Miso soup base, the waitress said they are out of it, and we ask for snow crab leg. It was out. We got some frozen left-over watercrest which was rotted out. some muddy fish paste that tastes rotten milky fish. Most of the food are cheap pre-frozen package food. Don't expect anything like fresh Salmon, scallop, crab leg, oyster or claim but unfresh beef, corn, instant noodles, cheap mussel, cheap nasty fish paste that fall apart. The dim sum mostly are bums from the package food which are re-steam and it come with tiny portion. The restaurant had a time limited the 90 minutes for eating time from the first order and do not allow re-ordering with less than 5 5-minute gap. I wish to give -1 star if I would. The waitstaff is friendly and tries hard, but unfortunately, this place falls short in many areas. Ordering is done through a tablet, and then the waiting begins. After several delays and apologies, we were told our order was lost and had to be replaced, only to receive missing and duplicate items when they finally arrived. The dim sum was okay but not great. Some meats (not included) appeared discolored, likely from sitting out too long. Noodles and fish cakes were subpar, and the vegetables never even arrived, so I can't comment on them. The soda was included but was limited to just Mountain Dew, and the bowls and plates were not clean. The broth was overwhelmingly porky. Despite eating quickly, it took us over two hours to get even halfway full due to the excessive wait times--45 to 60 minutes for each order. Great Service and Amazing food all around! Really liked the scallion pancake and udon noodles!

We visited the restaurant on a Friday evening and were seated right away. This is an AYCE restaurant (though meat, seafood are extra). Meat plates price depending on your selection. Despite this, the AYCE menu includes a huge variety of options like dim sum, baos, Korean and Chinese dishes, tofu, vegies, and more.... We ordered a few meat dishes, and each one was fresh, tender, and good portioned. The service was excellent--quick, friendly, and attentive, with frequent table clean-ups. We ordered via an iPad so our food came out pretty quick. The restaurant itself was clean plus each person gets their own individual pot, which is a great way to make the broth the way you want. Also across the street from the T, so it's really easy to get into! Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 We can't wait to come back! read more
