Overall, I'd rate it around a 2.5-3. A piece of me wants to try a different ramen, but also not a place I would run to. Also, rounding up to 3 because of the whole menu being catered to vegan ramen! We tried Red White Boneless Ramen after seeing the long lines outside so often, and we were glad to walk right in and grab a seat around 6:30 on a Monday (there was a line by the time we left). The staff was friendly, and the restaurant had a busy, energetic feel. We ordered the mac and cheese, Japanese curry ramen, red hot miso ramen, and spicy roasted miso avocado rolls. We definitely ordered with our stomachs when it came to the mac and cheese, and while I appreciate the vegan concept, as someone who eats and loves cheese, it just wasn't my favorite. The ramen was good overall, and portions were generous, but I was surprised by how sweet both broths were. Even with chili oil, there was still a noticeable sweetness that wasn't quite what I was expecting from ramen. The spicy roasted miso avocado rolls were probably my least favorite after the mac and cheese. They were a bit mushy in texture and also had a sweet flavor. I can see why people enjoy it, and I appreciate having a fully vegan ramen spot, but some of the flavor profiles didn't quite land with me. Glad I tried it, though.

Came here right before it got really busy, so we got lucky and could order and get a table immediately. Inside, I wasn't expecting the darker interior ambience, but didn't mind it. It was straightforward to order at the counter, get a beeper, and wait to pick up the food. It was a bit crowded and a bit difficult to navigate through with the food, but was manageable. I got a regular yuzu sesame ramen, which I enjoyed overall. The flavor was great and I enjoyed the noodles. I did wish that it was more substantial, maybe more tofu or other add-ons without needing to add anything extra. Overall, not a bad vegan/vegetarian option if you're able to avoid a long wait!

After a long day checking out two museums in Cambridge, MA, my daughter and I ventured to Boston and she ended up finding REDWHITE. Coming here worked out great especially since we were in the area when the place I originally planned for had already closed. Honestly, this turned out to be such a better discovery. REDWHITE's inside is kind of wild. You walk in and it's pitch-black: walls and ceiling- except for this soft glow around. It's small, too. Like small small. Which means yes, you're lining up outside for a bit- especially on weekends. But the line moves fast. They have little signs on the walls letting you know of the 45 mins limit to eat during busy times, which at first made me do a double-take but honestly, it works. You're in, you eat, you enjoy, you go. No hard feelings. You order up front, pay and they hand you one of those buzzer/light-up things. Ours went off pretty quickly. The staff is super friendly without giving you that "please leave" energy. Even when the place is packed, they're calm and they're friendly. Even as two pescatarians, the kid and I thought this vegan ramen is freaking amazing.

Date night at REDWHITE Boston. My boyfriend and I chose this spot purely based on the vibes and the long line we saw while strolling down Newbury Street. I'll preface by saying we didn't realize it was a vegan restaurant beforehand, and if we had known, we probably wouldn't have stopped in -- but not knowing this fact we decided to give it a try anyway. We waited about 45 minutes outside before ordering. At REDWHITE, you order at the counter first and then grab a table once one opens up. Tables are limited to 45 minutes, which made sense because the turnover was constant -- as soon as one table cleared, someone who had just ordered took it. Even when we left, there was still a line. I ordered the No. 9 Truffle Salt, my boyfriend got the No. 5, and we shared the Roasted Miso Avocado roll. After ordering, we waited about another 10 minutes for our food. The bowls were very different from each other, with different broths and noodles, though both included tofu. I didn't mind it, but my boyfriend wasn't a fan. Overall, I did enjoy my ramen, though it's definitely an acquired taste. That said, I'm not sure I'd wait over an hour again for this dish alone, but it was still a fun experience. The cozy basement atmosphere was perfect for a cold night. Shoutout to the staff as well -- they were clearly working incredibly hard to keep everything running smoothly, especially the guy who was single-handedly bussing tables and keeping the flow moving. All in all, a fun experience with high-quality food, even if the flavors didn't fully click for us.

I'm extremely disappointed in REDWHITE and would not recommend it to anyone. I came here with a coworker last year while in town for a conference and remembered really liking it, though I had forgotten that I needed to pour in quite a lot of red pepper flake packets to get my ramen spicy. I thought maybe it was an off day, or maybe I had just forgotten to order it spicy. This time, I rushed from the train station, excited to come back since I'm in town for a few days. The host was extremely rude and impatient while I was deciding what to order. I specifically asked for my ramen "spicy," and she assured me they could "make any ramen spicy." When my ramen came, there was no discernible spice whatsoever. I asked for extra spice, and they gave me la-yu (chili oil). I almost never use la-yu because it upsets my stomach and adds needless calories, but I went with it, trusting their judgment. It did absolutely nothing. I even tasted the la-yu directly, and it was somehow less spicy than the ramen itself. No spice whatsoever, truly. At that point, I added a hot sauce packet I had in my bag--still mild. I asked for red pepper flakes, and the server kept pointing at the menu saying it was $2, and that the first portion was free but after that I'd have to pay. I explained that I had ordered spicy, didn't get it, and the extra spice they gave me wasn't spicy either. He just repeated that I'd have to pay, even though the menu said nothing about this. Meanwhile, I still hadn't received what I ordered. By then I was furious, and my stomach hurt from the oil. I ended up dumping about 20 packets of black pepper from my backpack into the bowl (yes, really), and it was still barely spicy. I forced myself to finish what turned out to be disgustingly oily, bland ramen. I will never come back here and will no longer recommend it. The food was not what I ordered, the staff was rude and unhelpful, and the experience was miserable from start to finish.

Came here on a complete whim and man, best decision I've made in a long time! The ramen was amazing! I went for the spicy Miso and it had such depth of flavor. The spiciness was perfect, enough to feel it intensely yet still able to enjoy and taste every flavor. The service was really efficient. You place your order, pay, grab an (assigned) table with a buzzer, then grab food when ready. Put tray in the rack when you leave. They really have an awesome system figured out. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I also tried a miso roll and feel it was a bit meh. The flavor was just a little bland for me, kinda underwhelming sushi. Glad I tried it but would probably skip next time. Intimate vibe in the sense that it's very small so it feels cozy. Seems more of a place for a quick meal although there were definitely people taking their time. It felt hard to justify hanging out for too long because the people in line have to wait until a table frees up. I'd say there are only a dozen tables or so. I'll totally come back here again soon and try more ramen flavors. A lot of people seemed to be ordering the garlic one, so guessing that one is amazing too.

While on vacation in Boston, my partner and I sought out this spot based on Yelp reviews. The area where it is located is nice - lots of shops and restaurants/eateries. The ambience of the place is dark and hip with low lights and just a few tables. Their set up is efficient - your order at the counter and you pick it up at same place when it's ready. I've had my fair share of awesome ramen from Northern/Southern California and this place is up there as one of the best! I got the yuzu one and my partner er got the spicy miso ramen. The broth is thick and rich and noodles just rights - so yummy! Definitely will go back to this place when we are in Boston again! Also, idk about anybody else but I also want to mention that their restroom is clean - this is important to me because it means they care about the cleanliness of their entire establishment.

Terrible service, average food at best (vegetarian ramen?!) - would absolutely not recommend nor come back. Our group waited almost an hour between getting seated and getting our food - it was 9:40pm when we started eating, giving us 20 minutes to eat before they closed at 10pm. The waiter warned us that we'd be kicked out at that time - while we thought this was unfair, we followed suit and started packing up to-go boxes around 5 mins. before closing. What was completely unacceptable was how rude, unprofessional, and plain mean the waiter was - once it hit 10pm, he had a horrible attitude, tapping his watch and yelling at us to leave. We were already rushing to finish our food and pack it up before closing, but he was totally unreasonable. This was an overall terrible experience, and the food did not make up for it one bit.

I stumbled upon this place with a friend while walking down Newbury Street, not realizing it was a vegetarian restaurant until I saw corn and leafy greens in my ramen. I've been a hater of vegetarian food for 21 years, but this place completely changed my mind. The No. 9 Truffle Salt was packed with flavor and the noodles were perfectly chewy. I didn't leave a single drop of broth in the bowl. Definitely made me see vegetarian food in a whole new light.

Some of the best vegan ramen I've had with creative flavors as well. So happy that there are locations in LA so I can try it at home too! We got the sesame yuzu which was a creamy and bright broth, and the spicy garlic was a nice classic flavor. We just wish it was a little spicier as we couldn't really feel the spice. The miso avocado roll was also 10/10 and all the presentation was beautiful of the food

This is the best vegan ramen I've ever had! I was visiting Boston for work and had Redwhite on my list. It's a small location that's partially underground. Really cool place. I went for a late lunch, around 3:30pm, so it was pretty quiet. The service was quick and the person behind the counter offered me some recommendations when I asked. He was very helpful. The ramen itself was amazing. I got the red hot miso on his recommendation and it was delicious. Perfect amount of heat (for someone that likes spicy food) and the portion size was great as well. The broth was stellar, and i liked the soy meat as well. There wasn't anything left in the bowl by the time I was done! I appreciated that there were several options. I will be back to try the others when I am in Boston again!

Such an unassuming little spot. Just hopped in on a Saturday looking for lunch on Newbury and it is a small spot right on the street on the bottom floor. It is dark with small tables and counter service. I am usually a meat person so was slightly disappointed to see that there wasn't meat on the menu but decided to give it a go anyway. I even got the vegan sushi. When I tell you I was blown away! Everything was incredible!! My ramen was so flavorful and filling and even the sushi tasted amazing. I will definitely come back!

We accidentally walked past this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Not realizing it's vegetarian. The soup was very flavorful, bursting with different spices. Not my usual order at my local ramen joint but certainly delicious. The sweet chili roll was also very nice. A marriage of avocado roll with some Latin flavor top with some crunchy tortilla chips. A very satisfying meal on a cool autumn evening. The space is very tight with seating that can be very crowded. But I really think that adds to the vibe of eating in a Ramen shop. The person who took my order was also very nice and helped me decide on the role. I eventually ended up choosing. Would recommend.

We walked into a cozy, compact space with a traditional ramen shop feel, the kind of place where the smaller layout gives it a more intimate atmosphere. The interior is warm and functional, with a counter and a few tables that make it a comfortable stop for a warm meal, though seating can be limited during busier times. The energy stays focused and efficient, fitting the style of a neighborhood ramen spot. The ramen is the main reason to visit. The menu offers a variety of broths and styles, including tonkotsu, miso, shoyu, and spicy options. We ordered the spicy miso ramen and found it had a good balance of heat and flavor without being overwhelming, with the broth rich enough to carry the noodles and toppings without becoming too heavy. The noodles had a nice texture, and the bowls felt satisfying, especially on a colder day. The toppings, including pork belly and other additions, helped add more depth to the meal, with the chashu tender and well seasoned and the soft-boiled egg cooked to that perfect jammy consistency. The appetizers are also worth trying. Items like karaage, takoyaki, and gyoza pair well with the ramen and make the meal feel more complete, and we appreciated that the menu has enough variety for a quick ramen stop or a longer meal where you want to try multiple dishes. One thing to keep in mind is that Tora Ramen is cash only, so it is worth planning ahead before visiting. There is an ATM nearby, but it can be inconvenient if you are not expecting it. The restaurant is also fairly small, so there may be a wait during peak hours, though the turnover is usually reasonable and the staff handle the flow efficiently. Tora Ramen is a solid spot for ramen in Chinatown. The cozy atmosphere, flavorful bowls, and casual experience make it a good choice when you are craving a comforting meal. The cash-only setup and limited seating are small drawbacks, but the quality of the ramen makes it worth visiting for a warm, satisfying bowl in a no-fuss setting.

I am always surprised at how full I am when I leave! I'm stuffed every time. There is complementary miso soup with all of the bowls I've tried, outlined below. I really loved all of the bowls I've tried but my favorites are probably the Sake Aisuru Don and Kuromon Don. I just prefer more salmon to more tuna though, and they're all very good! Food: - Sake Aisuru Don: their classic all-salmon bowl! I loved the larger cuts of salmon, and I was pleasantly surprised that even the more pulverized salmon was flavorful! - Kuromon Don: loved the yellowtail in this! Each fish comes with two pieces (except the mackerel for which there are four), and I liked the sampler style for the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and izumidai. - Maguro Toro Don: so much tuna! And all such high quality. The otoro was so fatty that it practically melted in my mouth without chewing. - Sake Maguro Hamachi Don: a mix of salmon, blue fin tuna, and yellowtail. I liked the yellowtail in this a lot and found that it stood out the most from the other two fish in this particular bowl!

When we walked into Legal, the place was dead, the music was awful, and the vibe was just not there. So we sat at the bar and grabbed a drink while searching for a place to get an actual dinner where we could find last-minute reservations. Shojo in Chinatown came up with great reviews and after looking at the menu and seeing that we could get a reservation, we headed over. It was a short walk from the Ritz and Chinatown is just such a fun place with great energy. When we walked in, we knew we had made the right call and were easily able to switch our reservation from a table to bar seats, which is always an added bonus. The place is low lit and the music is on the louder side, but nothing was excessive to the point that we didn't enjoy our time there. We ordered a variety of drinks while there - a Toki Highball draft, a spicy tequila drink with lemongrass, a few different types of Japanese whiskeys as well (they have a really extensive list). As far as food goes, they categorize their menu into Snacks, Baos, and Rice, Noodles, and Dumplings. There's a lot of vegetarian friendly options, which is always a plus for me. My highlights were the 7 vegetable stir fry, fried eggplant bao, edamame dumplings, and the Thai veggie spring rolls. The salt and pepper calamari was also really great. Everything was terrific and really unique. Service was good - not great, but they took notice of empty glasses and were quick to bring out food, so I have absolutely no complaints. Shojo is somewhere I'd absolutely return to when staying in the area, I'm really happy we all turned what would have been a very touristy, depressing experience into something with a WAY better vibe and time!

There seems to be a lot of take out so if you're at a nearby hotel, it would be easy to order and take it back. TONKOTSU KARA MISO RAMEN - Very tasty with a little spice, the ramen noodles seem fresh. BARA TORO CHA-SYU - pork cheek - very good and very worth the extra money to add it on. The flavor is fantastic and they put it on the side so it doesn't overcook. NEGI NAMBAN - Our favorite of the two bowls ordered. The menu says to beware of the spice, but it is not bad. I added the chili oil that was on the counter. I was very happy with my order and would order this Ramen again. We got a side of the marinated hard boiled egg, cooked perfectly and it was great. We ordered the regular sized bowl and we were both very full and ready for a walk. There was another ramen bowl that was on a limited time menu, but we didn't see it so maybe next time.

We sat in the patio outside and the weather was on our side and couldn't be perfect. It was a dinner with my daughter and she hadn't had anything since the morning. And this is one of her favorite places. The ramen was perfect and so were the vegetables. The protein looked too real like meat but it is soy. Totally a great meal to enjoy. Will definitely be back. Service is fast and quick.

We got two appetizers and three mains. The soup dumplings were very tasty. The other appetizer, lamb pancake was ok, just not our style. The Lanzhou beef noodle soup was a great mix of beef, bok choy (we added), hot chili oil, and homemade noodles. We also got a shrimp stir fry with noodles. The noodles absorbed the flavor of the sauce. Overall, we loved it!

I am used to LA (real Lanzhou) noodles and soup. Those tend to not use peanut oil so I can get the beef noodle soup. They also come with any size noodle that you want. Zhi Wei Cafe makes you pay $2 extra for wide noodles and they feel NOT hand pulled. They feel rolled out and cut. There is no variation in thickness and width of the noodle. Hand pulled noodles are usually a little curly/wavy and these were like pappardelle pasta. It felt also old. It was not chewy and that was a shame. The noodles make the dish. And they did not make the dish. The beef noodle soup: my sister said it felt watered down and like it was missing something. Chicken noodle soup: it was literally veggie broth made of carrot and celery. With chunks of chicken thigh and the bad noodles. You order on your phone and they bring you the food. I feel like that would affect the tip that they receive on the check. The bathroom was also clogged and I really needed to pee. I would not come back here again. Sorry

This place is popping! Even though it was later in the evening, the restaurant was still really full. However we didn't have to wait too long to get seated. I loved the decor in here, such neat details and even a column with a dragon on it! So cool. It's a dark restaurant so it was hard to read the menu, but otherwise, it's a very cool vibe here and feels very lounge-y. Our server was awesome, he was friendly and explained the restaurant style to us - it's like tapas, you order a few items to share and recommended 2 - 3 items per person would be sufficient. It was only 2 of us and we shared 3 items total, and that was more than enough. We apparently arrived so late that our server informed us that we only had a short time before the kitchen was closing for the night. But he said that he would return before the kitchen closed in case we wanted to order additional menu items. We were intrigued by the Japanese/Peruvian fusion menu and tried a few things: Kuromitsu Brussel Sprouts Spicy Salmon Fritas Bo Bo Chicken I was most excited about the Bo Bo Chicken a it had a sichuan chili oil and I love spicy, but it was not spicy at all (to me). But the flavor was really good. My favorite was the Brussels sprouts. I loved the char on them and the ginger black honey on it was so good. I don't eat salmon, but my friend said the Salmon Fritas was great and really enjoyed them. I would say this was the best meal we had on our trip!
