Good food. Service was ok. We tried several appetizers that were 50% off during happy hour M-F (3-6pm): mushroom dumplings, red oil dumplings, wings, sweet/sour spareribs, pork belly baos, and one regular rare-steak pho. It was clean and nicely decorated.

Food: The mushroom dumplings were my favorite! Also the mango lassi boba was delicious and super refreshing as well- I'll definitely be coming back for more boba options. However, the General Tso's shrimp did not taste like real shrimp. It was weird, even though we had leftovers, neither of us took anything home. Service: Food was pretty fast, except for the General Tso's shrimp which took a bit longer than I expected. Ambiance: The bathroom was a bit dirty and there were paper towels all over the floor. The meal was pricey ($56/ person for 4 dishes between 2 with tip), so I would've just expected the bathrooms to be cleaner.

Mecha Noodle Bar is such a gem in Boston, especially if you're gluten-free. The food is flavorful, fresh, and super satisfying without feeling heavy. Portions are solid for the price, making it very affordable compared to a lot of other spots in the area. Everything came out quickly, which is perfect whether you're grabbing a casual lunch or need a fast dinner before heading out. Great vibes, quick service, and gluten-free options that don't feel like an afterthought. If you're gluten-free (or not!) and want something delicious, fast, and reasonably priced, Mecha is 100% worth stopping into.

Boston's rainy days are made for noodle bar lunches - chic vibes, friendly young staff, and spicy miso ramen that rivals OC's Shinsengumi. Price was just right. Hot noodle soup is Boston's windy day cure. Spicy and salty hot soup is perfect. Friendly service ! Super clean, including well designed bathroom.

I thought the food was great. I got the Pho Bo Vien and thought it was delicious. The shitaki bun was also good, but could have had the sauce more spread out across the mushrooms

Let's just say that this cold / flu season has not been the best for me, so on a recent trip to the East Coast, I knew that I needed all the Pho I could get to mend myself back to health.. and hence, all the recent Pho check-in's and photos. Mecha has several locations: MA, CT, OH, CO and Washington DC - Hopefully you can find one near you! This reveiw is for the Thompson Place location in Boston, MA. We had not origianlly planned on eating at Mecha Noodle Bar {as the plan was the North End for pasta}, but since I wasn't feeling 100% and was leaving the next day for a wellness retreat, I knew I needed some Pho. And Mecha did not disappoint! Greeted immediatly by the hostess with a warm welcome and a friendly smile. We then opted for a seat at the bar. Huge shout out to Aaron who was tending bar on the night of our visit - Bar was packed, and he seemlessly attended to each patron while chatting them up and creating a wonderful experience. Now for the good stuff - The food! A wide variety of drinks are available - Bubble Tea, Cocktails, Craft Beer, Sake and Soft Drinks - Of course, I grabbed an IPA right away {yes, I know, probably not the best when your not feeling well, but it can't make it any worse.. right?!}. The Hubs scooped up a Pork Belly Steamed Bao Bun {served with one piece per order} - filled with a perfectly cooked piece of Pork, Pickled Carrots & Daikon, a slice of Cucumber & a drizzle of Hoisin. We shared the Herbed Edamame - combined with Garlic Confit, Sage, Roasemary and Sea Salt - This was a combo that I never knew I needed and quite possibly one of the best Edamame I've ever had! For the life of me, I couldn't tell you what the Hubs got for dinner becasue once my Pho arrived, it was all I could focus on. I decided on the Pho Ga {dubbed "the hangover cure"} - Thick slices of Chicken, Noodles, Green Onions, Cilantro and a Chicken Broth that was utter perfection. I added some Thai Basil and an un-godly amount of Bean Sprouts to make the ultimate bowl. This dinner was exactly what I needed to cure the cold - And I will absolutely be making it a point to visit another Mecha location sooner rather than later. *Reading this before January 1st, 2026 - Purchase a $100 gift card and receive a $25 bonus card!

Service was fantastic and maybe we should have ordered a ramen or pho bowl but we had dinner plans elsewhere so this was just a "snack" we did come on a Friday between 3pm-6pm so some appetizers dishes were 50% off which we ordered the spicy Chicken wings which had some interesting dry rub seasoning. The mushroom dumplings were good and the sauce was great. The spare ribs were flavorful but the sauce on it made it too salty. The pork belly bao was ok, good flavor but slightly overcooked. But great ambiance and decor, earthy and modern with heigh ceilings.

TEAM PHO!! TEAM MECHA!! Traditional Asian cuisine meets just the right amount of modern flair at Mecha. There are some pho-nomenal dishes here like the Roasted Mushroom Dumplings (I literally drink the brown butter miso sauce), the fall of the bone Sweet & Sour Spareribs and the Pho King which has the tenderest beef brisket. These days I admittedly come to Mecha for my pho fix instead of the traditional Viet spot I usually frequent. Service is way friendlier here, price is just about the same (!), the restaurant is wayyy cleaner, the pho is not only authentic here but uses way more premium cuts of meat and the vibes are fun & young! Thanks pho all the great meals this past year Mecha!

Great ramen and pho in a creative and fun vibes environment. Bonus points for being family friendly while serving adult drinks in chemistry equipment type beakers!

Tonkatsu
Connie C.

The tonkotsu ramen was alright, just tasted more salty than umami. Texture on the straight noodles was good. Al dente. My tonkotsu ramen came without an egg so I asked the server if the tonkotsu ramen comes with an egg and she said no...so I check the menu and pointed out to her that it clearly says tamago which means egg...so thennn she got me the missing egg...but I was shocked she didn't know the menu well enough to know what each ramen includes. The beef ramen was unique, not quite authentic, but tasty more like a spicy Taiwanese beef noodle flavor soup. The tan tan noodle was kinda dry. Wish there was a little more sauce of sort on the meat sauce. They also had pho option which one of my friend ordered and it tasted super oily -- but not enough aromatic flavors, left a very glossy lip after every sip. Would opt out on getting pho.

I sat at the bar, no problem getting a spot. The bartender seemed to be serving to the bar and to tables around the bar so it took a bit to get a drink. I was happy with the selection of sake and it was my first time having a boba drink with alcohol. (The banana boba is great but due to the rum it has a hint of black licorice flavor) The soup was yummy. The pork belly was very very fatty and didn't seem like it was cooked long at all. All in all this is a pleasant place to grab an average bowl of ramen.

I visit the Seaport area monthly for work, and have found it to be a bit of a food desert if you're looking for quality food that won't break the bank. So I was thrilled when someone recommended Mecha Noodle Bar! I came here for dinner with three friends for restaurant week. The interior is spacious and chic, the service was warm and prompt, but the restaurant week set meal was what stole the show: $36 for four courses AND a drink (one alcoholic option and one non-alcoholic)? This has got to be one of the best restaurant week deals I've seen in recent years. For food, I ordered the KFC bao, spicy tuna hand roll, shoyu paitan, and black sesame mochi. The KFC bao was delicious: crispy and seasoned on the outside and tender on the inside. It was probably my favorite dish of the evening. The tuna hand roll was very good and quite generous with the amount of tuna. The shoyu was also delicious, and came with a flavorful broth and noodles that were perfectly al dente. I added the corn and chili oil, but would probably skip that next time; I don't think it added very much. The sesame mochi ice cream was also standout. It's served cut in half, with the ice cream side dipped in a kind of rice puff, which actually added a lot of texture and flavor to what would otherwise be a relatively simple dessert. As an added bonus, we also got a big bowl of edamame on the house. The edamame is cooked in garlic confit, rosemary, sage, and sea salt, and is also huge in portion! I'll definitely be back.

Kirtana S.

Okay - i can not believe it took me so long to come here! This has been on a list forever. The service was EXCELLENT! I wish I remembered our staff member's name, but he made my experience a highlight meal!!! We came here hungry and for happy hour, and ate everything in his recommendation. Everything was so good!

We walked into a cozy, compact space with a traditional ramen shop feel, the kind of place where the smaller layout gives it a more intimate atmosphere. The interior is warm and functional, with a counter and a few tables that make it a comfortable stop for a warm meal, though seating can be limited during busier times. The energy stays focused and efficient, fitting the style of a neighborhood ramen spot. The ramen is the main reason to visit. The menu offers a variety of broths and styles, including tonkotsu, miso, shoyu, and spicy options. We ordered the spicy miso ramen and found it had a good balance of heat and flavor without being overwhelming, with the broth rich enough to carry the noodles and toppings without becoming too heavy. The noodles had a nice texture, and the bowls felt satisfying, especially on a colder day. The toppings, including pork belly and other additions, helped add more depth to the meal, with the chashu tender and well seasoned and the soft-boiled egg cooked to that perfect jammy consistency. The appetizers are also worth trying. Items like karaage, takoyaki, and gyoza pair well with the ramen and make the meal feel more complete, and we appreciated that the menu has enough variety for a quick ramen stop or a longer meal where you want to try multiple dishes. One thing to keep in mind is that Tora Ramen is cash only, so it is worth planning ahead before visiting. There is an ATM nearby, but it can be inconvenient if you are not expecting it. The restaurant is also fairly small, so there may be a wait during peak hours, though the turnover is usually reasonable and the staff handle the flow efficiently. Tora Ramen is a solid spot for ramen in Chinatown. The cozy atmosphere, flavorful bowls, and casual experience make it a good choice when you are craving a comforting meal. The cash-only setup and limited seating are small drawbacks, but the quality of the ramen makes it worth visiting for a warm, satisfying bowl in a no-fuss setting.

I am always surprised at how full I am when I leave! I'm stuffed every time. There is complementary miso soup with all of the bowls I've tried, outlined below. I really loved all of the bowls I've tried but my favorites are probably the Sake Aisuru Don and Kuromon Don. I just prefer more salmon to more tuna though, and they're all very good! Food: - Sake Aisuru Don: their classic all-salmon bowl! I loved the larger cuts of salmon, and I was pleasantly surprised that even the more pulverized salmon was flavorful! - Kuromon Don: loved the yellowtail in this! Each fish comes with two pieces (except the mackerel for which there are four), and I liked the sampler style for the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and izumidai. - Maguro Toro Don: so much tuna! And all such high quality. The otoro was so fatty that it practically melted in my mouth without chewing. - Sake Maguro Hamachi Don: a mix of salmon, blue fin tuna, and yellowtail. I liked the yellowtail in this a lot and found that it stood out the most from the other two fish in this particular bowl!

Shojo in Chinatown came up with great reviews and after looking at the menu and seeing that we could get a reservation, we headed over. It was a short walk from the Ritz and Chinatown is just such a fun place with great energy. When we walked in, we knew we had made the right call and were easily able to switch our reservation from a table to bar seats, which is always an added bonus. The place is low lit and the music is on the louder side, but nothing was excessive to the point that we didn't enjoy our time there. We ordered a variety of drinks while there - a Toki Highball draft, a spicy tequila drink with lemongrass, a few different types of Japanese whiskeys as well (they have a really extensive list). Everything was terrific and really unique. Service was good - not great, but they took notice of empty glasses and were quick to bring out food, so I have absolutely no complaints. Shojo is somewhere I'd absolutely return to when staying in the area, I'm really happy we all turned what would have been a very touristy, depressing experience into something with a WAY better vibe and time!

I feel like that would affect the tip that they receive on the check. The bathroom was also clogged and I really needed to pee. I would not come back here again. Sorry

We dined at RUKA when we first checked into our hotel in Boston. It was adjacent to our hotel so it…read morewas super convenient as we were tired and hungry after a long flight. This place is popping! Even though it was later in the evening, the restaurant was still really full. However we didn't have to wait too long to get seated. I loved the decor in here, such neat details and even a column with a dragon on it! So cool. It's a dark restaurant so it was hard to read the menu, but otherwise, it's a very cool vibe here and feels very lounge-y. Our server was awesome, he was friendly and explained the restaurant style to us - it's like tapas, you order a few items to share and recommended 2 - 3 items per person would be sufficient. It was only 2 of us and we shared 3 items total, and that was more than enough. We apparently arrived so late that our server informed us that we only had a short time before the kitchen was closing for the night. But he said that he would return before the kitchen closed in case we wanted to order additional menu items. We were intrigued by the Japanese/Peruvian fusion menu and tried a few things: Kuromitsu Brussel Sprouts Spicy Salmon Fritas Bo Bo Chicken I was most excited about the Bo Bo Chicken a it had a sichuan chili oil and I love spicy, but it was not spicy at all (to me). But the flavor was really good. My favorite was the Brussels sprouts. I loved the char on them and the ginger black honey on it was so good. I don't eat salmon, but my friend said the Salmon Fritas was great and really enjoyed them. I would say this was the best meal we had on our trip!

A great Japanese restaurant. We didn't have reservations but were able to secure seats in the bar…read morearea, which was totally fine. It took some time for the waiter to come by and we were ready to order as soon as he came by. Got drinks and some food. Surprisingly the food came out before the drinks. Everything was great however. The inside was lively, great place to catch up.
