    Chicken Pho

Stopped in here with a group of 6 for a lunch during a nearby convention. I really liked the concept of the place. All of the Asian noodle options in one place with great theming and service. I got the Pho chicken with greens (note: the greens are just bok choy), and it was as good as any other bowl I've had. Everyone with me was satisfied with their dish, and we got a variety of ramen, pho and even other dishes. If I was local to Boston I'd return. Great meal!

Good food. Service was ok. We tried several appetizers that were 50% off during happy hour M-F (3-6pm): mushroom dumplings, red oil dumplings, wings, sweet/sour spareribs, pork belly baos, and one regular rare-steak pho. It was clean and nicely decorated.

The curry noodles were absolutely amazing, the veggies tasted fresh, cooked to perfection. The chicken was soaked in all the flavor, not dry at all. And the noodles were so bouncy. Favorite dish was the pork BAO... the freshness from the pickled onions combined with the crispyness from the pork.. every bite enchanted with flavor. They do charge for spicy sauce I think it's $1.50. Thai tea was yummy, ordered without boba. Lots of seating in the restaurant but it can get busy.

Food: The mushroom dumplings were my favorite! Also the mango lassi boba was delicious and super refreshing as well- I'll definitely be coming back for more boba options. However, the General Tso's shrimp did not taste like real shrimp. It was weird, even though we had leftovers, neither of us took anything home. Service: Food was pretty fast, except for the General Tso's shrimp which took a bit longer than I expected. Ambiance: The bathroom was a bit dirty and there were paper towels all over the floor. The meal was pricey ($56/ person for 4 dishes between 2 with tip), so I would've just expected the bathrooms to be cleaner.

Mecha Noodle Bar is such a gem in Boston, especially if you're gluten-free. The food is flavorful, fresh, and super satisfying without feeling heavy. Portions are solid for the price, making it very affordable compared to a lot of other spots in the area. Everything came out quickly, which is perfect whether you're grabbing a casual lunch or need a fast dinner before heading out. Great vibes, quick service, and gluten-free options that don't feel like an afterthought. If you're gluten-free (or not!) and want something delicious, fast, and reasonably priced, Mecha is 100% worth stopping into.

Boston's rainy days are made for noodle bar lunches - chic vibes, friendly young staff, and spicy miso ramen that rivals OC's Shinsengumi. Price was just right. Hot noodle soup is Boston's windy day cure. Spicy and salty hot soup is perfect. Friendly service ! Super clean, including well designed bathroom.

I thought the food was great. I got the Pho Bo Vien and thought it was delicious. The shitaki bun was also good, but could have had the sauce more spread out across the mushrooms

Let's just say that this cold / flu season has not been the best for me, so on a recent trip to the East Coast, I knew that I needed all the Pho I could get to mend myself back to health.. and hence, all the recent Pho check-in's and photos. Mecha has several locations: MA, CT, OH, CO and Washington DC - Hopefully you can find one near you! This reveiw is for the Thompson Place location in Boston, MA. We had not origianlly planned on eating at Mecha Noodle Bar {as the plan was the North End for pasta}, but since I wasn't feeling 100% and was leaving the next day for a wellness retreat, I knew I needed some Pho. And Mecha did not disappoint! Greeted immediatly by the hostess with a warm welcome and a friendly smile. We then opted for a seat at the bar. Huge shout out to Aaron who was tending bar on the night of our visit - Bar was packed, and he seemlessly attended to each patron while chatting them up and creating a wonderful experience. Now for the good stuff - The food! A wide variety of drinks are available - Bubble Tea, Cocktails, Craft Beer, Sake and Soft Drinks - Of course, I grabbed an IPA right away {yes, I know, probably not the best when your not feeling well, but it can't make it any worse.. right?!}. The Hubs scooped up a Pork Belly Steamed Bao Bun {served with one piece per order} - filled with a perfectly cooked piece of Pork, Pickled Carrots & Daikon, a slice of Cucumber & a drizzle of Hoisin. We shared the Herbed Edamame - combined with Garlic Confit, Sage, Roasemary and Sea Salt - This was a combo that I never knew I needed and quite possibly one of the best Edamame I've ever had! For the life of me, I couldn't tell you what the Hubs got for dinner becasue once my Pho arrived, it was all I could focus on. I decided on the Pho Ga {dubbed "the hangover cure"} - Thick slices of Chicken, Noodles, Green Onions, Cilantro and a Chicken Broth that was utter perfection. I added some Thai Basil and an un-godly amount of Bean Sprouts to make the ultimate bowl. This dinner was exactly what I needed to cure the cold - And I will absolutely be making it a point to visit another Mecha location sooner rather than later. *Reading this before January 1st, 2026 - Purchase a $100 gift card and receive a $25 bonus card!

Service was fantastic and maybe we should have ordered a ramen or pho bowl but we had dinner plans elsewhere so this was just a "snack" we did come on a Friday between 3pm-6pm so some appetizers dishes were 50% off which we ordered the spicy Chicken wings which had some interesting dry rub seasoning. The mushroom dumplings were good and the sauce was great. The spare ribs were flavorful but the sauce on it made it too salty. The pork belly bao was ok, good flavor but slightly overcooked. But great ambiance and decor, earthy and modern with heigh ceilings.

Great ramen and pho in a creative and fun vibes environment. Bonus points for being family friendly while serving adult drinks in chemistry equipment type beakers!

The tonkotsu ramen was alright, just tasted more salty than umami. Texture on the straight noodles was good. Al dente. My tonkotsu ramen came without an egg so I asked the server if the tonkotsu ramen comes with an egg and she said no...so I check the menu and pointed out to her that it clearly says tamago which means egg...so thennn she got me the missing egg...but I was shocked she didn't know the menu well enough to know what each ramen includes. The beef ramen was unique, not quite authentic, but tasty more like a spicy Taiwanese beef noodle flavor soup. The tan tan noodle was kinda dry. Wish there was a little more sauce of sort on the meat sauce. They also had pho option which one of my friend ordered and it tasted super oily -- but not enough aromatic flavors, left a very glossy lip after every sip. Would opt out on getting pho.

TEAM PHO!! TEAM MECHA!! Traditional Asian cuisine meets just the right amount of modern flair at Mecha. There are some pho-nomenal dishes here like the Roasted Mushroom Dumplings (I literally drink the brown butter miso sauce), the fall of the bone Sweet & Sour Spareribs and the Pho King which has the tenderest beef brisket. These days I admittedly come to Mecha for my pho fix instead of the traditional Viet spot I usually frequent. Service is way friendlier here, price is just about the same (!), the restaurant is wayyy cleaner, the pho is not only authentic here but uses way more premium cuts of meat and the vibes are fun & young! Thanks pho all the great meals this past year Mecha!

The smell mostly faded from my tote & my purse after being hung outside with baking soda packets for a few days, but I think my headphones are a lost cause. I took off the ear pads, washed them, & wiped down the rest of the headphones as thoroughly as possible, but the fragrance persists. I only got the smell out of my clothes by doing an extra wash with vinegar. To be clear, I didn't spill broth on my belongings or anything -- the air in the restaurant just smells so strongly of onion/garlic that it seeps into your things. The food is great. Enjoy the food. The restaurant focuses mostly on soba or udon noodle dishes with a good selection between hot and cold options. It's not going to be the best udon or soba you've ever had. HOWEVER, I tried the cold ikura & uni cold soba and LOVED it. It's seasonal, so I tried that one out and was extremely surprised about how much I enjoyed the bowl. Not too much soup and the uni didn't completely obliterate when I stirred it up. They do use American wasabi though, and I found it superfluous to the dish and wished it was served on the side. But regardless, despite not having some extremely high quality noodles, the flavor and experience of the bowl itself was super pleasant. I ended up coming back the very next day because I wanted to try their clam soba. The clam soba only comes hot, which is a bit unfortunately because I actually think a cold clam soba with some lemon or yuzu would be phenomenol. I've been seeing recipes for it online so I've been wanting to try it, but their clam soba is a lot more standard and hot. They had a very good amount of clams in it, but I generally like their cold soba better. Still good, but didn't give me that feeling of needing to come back the very next day like I did with the ikura-uni combo. Overall, I'd still come back when I'm in downtown!

Every time I'm like "where should I go in downtown" I just get stuck on this place like it's worn a groove in my brain. Like one of RFK's brain worms. It's a little confusing to order but basically you pick a soup, pick a spicy level (burn your face or burn your colon) and then add an absurd amount of toppings. Then they deliver a bowl the size of your head (or my head, I have a big head) and you kind of reconsider your life decisions. I like this over the other hot pot tech because my two greatest weaknesses are cooking and choosing. At least this takes out one of those. High marks to the sour cabbage broth - the slight vinegary tang is actually magic. Brain worm inducing magic. But don't go here. Because it's small and I want to make sure I have a seat.

The beef itself had a strange taste and wasn't enjoyable at all. When I asked for chopped green onions, they told me they had already run out. The food also lacked flavor, so I asked for chili sauce since it is only chili oil with almost no actual chili sauce. When I mentioned it, they said that's just how they make it. It got even more ridiculous. They serve Coke, but when I asked for a cup of ice, they said they didn't have any ice left!!! We also ordered the crispy pork for $8.99, and the portion was surprisingly small for the price. The service wasn't good either. Our bill came to about $44, and I still left a $6 tip even though I wasn't happy with the experience. Instead of thanking us, the server ( a lady) came over and complained that my tip was "just under 15%" and said their restaurant expects a minimum 15% tip and started to give a nasty attitude after! Honestly, after hearing that, I almost wanted to take the tip back. Tips should be earned through good food and good service, not demanded. Overall, this meal was a huge disappointment, and I would not recommend this restaurant.

Once we sat down, the food was done relatively quickly. However I was very surprised on what we had gotten. Now I admit - I am not a vegetarian. However, I have enjoyed many vegetarian meals and this was quite upsetting. We both got the garlic miso ramen. The ramen was not temperature hot at all. The chili oil was not flavorful. The "soy meat" was simply just mushed tofu with awful texture, and it soaked into the soup and created a pretty unpleasant texture (I took a picture which makes me sad and unappetized). I was unable to finish my bowl. The food combined with the service made for a pretty negative time for me. I really wanted to love it - a place with a full vegetarian menu is amazing for all my friends who have that restriction! Maybe if they tried pan frying the tofu create a better textural experience? I will not plan to come back, and will highly recommend you go to any other restaurant in Back Bay.
