The chicken pot (call in one day earlier to preorder) was amazing. Other dishes were okay. The chili cold chicken did not taste the freshest. Inside the restaurant there's modest decor and limited seating. Their specialty dumplings were sold out at dinner too Service was very warm and welcoming

Like the food here, every single dish we ordered, was delicious! The restaurant in brookline is not very spacious, if you have a large party, maybe call in advance. Service was also great.

This spot doesn't focus as much energy on decor the way some of the other restaurants in the neighborhood do, but don't let this be the reason for you to skip out on this amazing restaurant! I called ahead to make a reservation for 8 and was amused when the staff member sat us at one of those large, circular, plastic tables with folding chairs. While the vibes might not be exactly what you're looking for during a fancy date, the food is seriously incredible. Everything was very shareable, so the 8 of us picked 7 dishes along with white rice and were all stuffed by the end. Chicken in chili oil ($13.95): super tender, succulent chicken with a mild chili oil sauce. The chili oil wasn't the most flavorful so I would mostly recommend it for people who don't eat red meat. Beef and tripe in chili oil ($13.50): this was my favorite cold appetizer of the two I tried! Somehow the chili oil in this dish was significantly more flavorful than the chili oil in the chicken appetizer and the beef slices were melt-in-your-mouth tender. Sliced beef with Szechuan numb peppers ($26.95): I love dishes that are not shy about their mala spice and this dish understood the assignment! The soup itself was so fragrant and packed with veggies in addition to lots of beef slices. Yu hsiang eggplant ($14.95): the eggplant in this dish was very soft in the best way possible. This was the least spicy dish we ordered. The thick, sweet, and savory sauce clung onto the soft pieces of eggplant and went so well with rice! Spicy beef brisket in clay pot ($17.50): I didn't expect the beef to be almost shredded, but it was still quite tasty. This dish was on the savory side (whereas some of the other dishes were a little tangy or sweet). I would recommend this dish for people who are just getting introduced to Szechuan food. Szechuan hot sauce fish ($21.95): this is normally one of my favorite dishes to get at Szechuan restaurants and I love to use it as a reference to figure out if a restaurant is good or not. This dish was very delicious and packed a generous portion of fish! Dry pot chicken ($18.95): they light a flame under this dish at the table and it adds a lot of smokiness to the chicken. This is a great dish for people who like spicy food because there are a lot of whole dried chili peppers! There were a lot of veggies and I wouldn't have minded if the chicken-to-vegetable ratio was higher. While this restaurant is not bougie or fancy, the serving staff were all kind, patient, and helpful. I felt super relaxed and almost homey eating here. I'd love to come back again soon.

Restaurant is a very non assuming exterior with a small, cute interior simply decorated. Staff were very attentive and kind. The food was very good, many classic Szechuan dishes with some creative twists. Flavor and portion size delivered a good value, better than others in the area.

With a name like "Cubist Circle", I wasn't expecting such an authentic Taiwanese restaurant! I stopped in for a late dinner and got their beef stew noodle soup, which hit the spot. There was a generous helping on noodle, beef, and toppings. The aromatics and spices were really well done. I got medium spicy which was perfect. The food came out fast and the service was good (water was refilled several times). The price was also very reasonable ($14)! If I could give one point of feedback: Personally, I like eating beef shank more than tendon, so I wish there could be an option to add in more of one vs the other kind of meat. Will definitely be back!

Meat soup can come across as vey filling and dense. Unfortunately, we wouldn't be going back here as there are no dishes that is appealing to us.

We ordered the fried pork rib with duck egg yolk, the eggplant, and the Szechuan fish. My favorite thing was the pork rib - it's crusted with egg yolk and sugar for a mild sweet/salty flavor. The fish was tasty as well, but I wish it had more of the numbing mala flavor. Would definitely come here again and try more of their dishes! This is a small, clean spot with fast service.

One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to stop into a random restaurant, and just ask the server to surprise me with their recommendations. Dinner tonight did not disappoint! Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. The owner recommended the dumplings and they were phenomenal. The flavor was delicious and they were steamed to perfection. Super tiny place with a very friendly staff. Started off my week in Boston just right!

So happy that there is a new, amazing Sichuan option in Brookline! This small restaurant is in the heart of Brookline Village. It is clean, cute, affordable, and above all, has great food. The food came out very fast, especially the noodles. All the food was pretty good, but my favorite was definitely the 水煮鱼 (Szechuan Hot Sauce Style w/ Fish). The fish is cooked very well - tender yet flaky, and it has a nice, numbing kick! The 重庆小面 (chongqing noodles) were also a hit, though the noodles themselves were slightly overcooked. Lastly the 鱼香肉丝 (Yu Hsian Shredded Pork) was alright. I also wish you didn't have to pay extra for rice. Overall, a great addition to the Brookline Village area - I cannot wait to come back!

We eventually were able to get in, there is a small space to wait with snacks though. Once our table was almost ready the host allowed us to order and once sat it came almost right away. We ordered the la-xi chicken with less spice, this has small crispy chicken pieces and lot of peppers, had to go in and pick out the little pieces. Truthfully wish it was less pepper and more chicken especially $23.95. The mapo tofu was delicious the perfect numbing sensation that I love. A must try dish was the fish fillet with crispy rice. This was $34 but it is perfect for cold day. They bring this dish out pour the soup on top and let it boil until the crispy gets cooked. We got the green beans as well, pretty standard nothing special. We got a little discount as well, I think for a late night special. The entire meal came with tea and the restaurant had calm setting with wooden interior

Disappointing Service & Poor Seating Arrangement…read more Extremely disappointed with our experience here. I made a reservation for 6 people One Month in advance (in fact, today is my birthday) expecting a comfortable dining setup for my group. However, upon arrival, we were squeezed into a table clearly designed for 4 people. When we pointed this out, the staff insisted it was a '6-person table' and refused to move us to the larger tables available, claiming those were reserved for 7-8 people. This is inconsistent and unprofessional, as we have been seated at those larger tables with a group of 6 before. What's the point of making a reservation so far in advance if the restaurant can't provide adequate seating? The lack of flexibility and the dismissive attitude of the staff ruined our evening. For a place like Mountain House, I expected much better service. Will not be coming back anytime soon."

I didn't order the rice with my meal on purpose because they will bring my rice first before the meals come. They didn't happy with it. They were complaining about it in the front desk and I heard it. I ordered the soda after the meals came, they didn't like it either. They sat us (2) at the table nearest to the kitchen/front desk/bathroom, and I saw that there were open tables further towards the window. So I asked if we can sit by the window instead. Those tables are bigger and seats 4 people. The waitress turns to another worker and tells her in Chinese that we wanted to sit by the window in which this worker responds with "两个人还想坐窗边" (Two people and they want to sit by the window seat?!) in a sassy tone and then she scoffs. Mind you, this whole time we've only spoken in English but I am fluent in Chinese so I understood everything. The waitress turns back to us and just shakes her head no without any explanation. At that point, I was just like okay, they probably expects the restaurant to get busy and wants to keep the tables open. But guess what, there's literally two people sitting by the window who happens to be Chinese aunties and they were chatting it up with the waitresses and being all friendly. It was giving special treatment. The whole time we were there, they would put food down on our table and not even acknowledge us even when we would say thank you. It's almost like "here damn" when they put our food down. No eye contact, no smile, no your welcome, no "enjoy your food". And the whole time, I couldn't figure out who's actually our server because random people would give us the food and fill our water. And the whole time, that window seat was open. So I'm genuinely so confused. And it ruined my mood for the rest of the meal. Now for the food, it was what you'd expect, packed with flavor and spices. Though the dry pot was very salty and it was very confusing ordering it because it doesn't really say if it comes with vegetables and we also couldn't order any vegetables using the 3 meat option. The egg plants were really good. The soup dumplings were alright, a little dry and greasy for my liking. The skewers were my favorite. The chili wontons were flavorful, I love the sauce, but the wontons themselves taste kind of old/not fresh. We wouldn't come back again just because the food is not unique, you can find it at any Chinese restaurant like mountain house down the street. The service however seemed like it's consistently bad seeing the other reviews. And if you're going to expect a 15% minimum tip then at least act like you like your job and serve your customers with a good attitude.
