This restaurant offers a huge variety of skewers ranging from different meats to seafood to veggies! They also have a few other dishes you can order but not that many. You have a little heated grill next to you to keep the skewers hot, but you don't grill them yourself. I had a ton of skewers but my favorite skewers were the wagyu beef and some of the braised meats! Overall, the quality of meat isn't the highest and some meats were too gamey, but still a great experience. We also ordered cucumber salad and a cold noodle dish. The cucumbers were yummy but i didn't love the noodles. It felt like they were trying to make Korean naengmyun but didn't do a great job. I think this is a fun place to go for some quick bites and also great to go if you're having a solo meal!

This place rocks, great food, great service and great value. I'll be back next time I. In the area!

The food was fine here, but personally didn't find it super special. All the meats seemed to be heavily seasoned with the same seasoning blend that gave everything a heavy smoked taste and made it all taste similar to each other. I will say I think there's good value for the price. Service was great! I will say it's also not always clear how many come in the order. For some skewers, an order was only 1 skewer while others would come with multiple for around the same price but the menu didn't say which

I've been passing by this place in Boston and NYC but never went in. I was in the area so decided to give it a try. When you enter, the vibe was cool and chill. The atmosphere is amazing and place is clean. I was always met with a smile from the waiter throughout the whole dining experience. We ordered a bunch of different skewers, grilled oysters and scallops, scallion pancake, yellow crocker, and the skewer rice. I'm not really a fan of spicy food and let me tell you, my mouth was on fire. But.... it was an interesting sensation. I didn't hate it. Odd. Maybe I even enjoyed it. Definitely an interesting moment where I get to meet a whole new side of me. So, yes, I am enjoyed it fully and love it!

The food here was soooo good! My first time having Chinese BBQ. The lamb skewers were my favorite and also the mushrooms. The lamb meat were larger than I expected and the spicy soup was really good too. Actually everything I had here i really loved. Will be going back!

Came around 3pm on a Sunday as a party of two and was seated right away. We ordered online via QR code and started getting our food shortly after, since we were the only ones there for a little bit. We ordered way too much, but my favorite dish has to be the Dan Dan Noodles. The cold noodles and sauce were the perfect companion to all the skewers we ordered. I'm not really a meat eater so it all kinda blended together, but each one I had tasted good and had a good texture! I also enjoyed the green beans and corn, which were seasoned really well. Would definitely come back! The atmosphere is casual and the food is yummy.

Wow, one of my new favorite Chinese restaurants! I know the name says barbecue but I've tried dishes other than the barbecue for now and they're really good. We got delivery and the food arrived very quickly, it was still hot! The grilled pomfret was good but not one of my favorite dishes, mainly because it was a little fishy for my taste. The egg fried rice was the hidden gem - comforting, tasty, and I will definitely order it again (and I already have!). Such a simple unassuming dish but so good. The hot and sour soup was the star of the show - it's definitely hot (phew!) but the flavor is amazing. You can sip it as is or mix it with the egg fried rice. The shredded potato fried rice was tasty but may not be a regular dish on my take-out order; the egg fried rice is just better. I really enjoyed my meal from Friendship BBQ, especially dishes which you might typically not order. I'm excited to try other ones, but I also know what my go-to order is going to look like!

Super clean space, but ordering on their website can be confusing if you cannot read Chinese. Each table has a hot grill for skewers although my impression was that most of the skewers come pre-cooked. The menu also has a seafood boils, hot pot, and noodles. We weren't sure which skewers to get so we went with a set that came with 10 skewers each of pork, beef, and lamb ($22). All of them had a similar spiced cumin seasoning to them. It was kind of hard to tell the difference between the meats since all of them had the same seasoning, but they tasted good. The pieces of meat were somewhat thin so most of the meat dried out. We also shared an order of dan dan noodles ($10). The dish was cold and the broth was kind of sweet. The noodles were super chewy but I wish the broth was more spicy. The food tasted good but I wasn't blown away. I wish the skewers had thicker cuts of meat. Ordering was also kind of a nightmare.

A fun and unique dining experience in a China Town basement. This unassuming hole in the wall restaurant was first picked out late night because of the "small dish" skewers. We instantly loved it due to the kind wait staff and the easy online at-table ordering. As visitors, we decided to come back the next night for a full dinner as we saw amazing dishes passing us to other tables. Come hungry, enjoy great food, and order to your heart's desire!

    grilled croakers

This BBQ place is a bit unique, with an offering of a variety of BBQ skewers and some cooked dishes and sides. The kitchen does the grilling and then the cooked food is brought to your table, so you're not doing the grilling. Our favorite dish is actually the cucumber salad which was a little spicy, salty and sweet. It was expensive for cucumbers but very tasty and I think worth the money. The special lamb and cumin skewers were tender and tasted quite good. The grilled croaker was decent but had to watch out for the little bones. We also tried the fish tofu, string beans, and beef skewers which were just OK. The potato fried rice was satisfying. $75 for two of us with beer, mango smoothie and tips, so not bad considering we had a good amount of food. Wait staff was very efficient. 6pm on Fri night, restaurant was not crowded. I'm glad this restaurant is in the neighborhood. It's not your standard fare and we quite enjoyed it.

Came here for skewers and got a variety of different skewers (literally almost everything on the menu). The issue I had was everything was precooked in the back and they bring it out to you. Then they use candles to keep the food warm but it barely works so the food just ended up being cold and oily. Was disappointed and won't be back.

I really enjoyed the food here, everything was super flavorful and all of the meat was really tender. I didn't really have the issue of the skewers getting cold that other reviews mentioned but that might have been because we ate pretty quickly. The foil emoji mushrooms with fish balls wasn't really what I expected and it was so much spicier than I thought it was going to be. The tofu skin wrapped chives were a little dry and very cilantro heavy. The northeastern dan dan noodles were super refreshing. For skewers I would recommend the squid, the beef, the big lamb ones, and the friend mantou for dessert were also really good. The only thing was they didn't have condensed milk until we asked for it. The selection of alcohol is pretty small so we stuck with the 青岛 which tasted like home! Overall, would recommend. Not the cheapest place but it feels very authentic to me.

    This place has awesome food!

Shanghai Classic Pork Pan-Fried Buns上海生煎饅頭: I was instantly hooked! It's hard to imagine finding such good pan-fried buns in the US. Almost every table ordered them, so they were all freshly made, piping hot. The bun was made with unleavened dough, making it chewy and refreshing, with a light, crispy bottom--not oily or hard. The meat filling was substantial and tender, with plenty of broth (see picture). It was sweeter than salty, incredibly umami. The chili oil was also very fragrant, and dipping it in Zhenjiang vinegar enhanced the flavor and cut through the greasiness. Shredded Pork & Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup雪菜肉絲麵: The noodles were thin and round, with a soft, mushy texture. While the noodles were clearly machine-made, this isn't a problem in the Yangtze River Delta region; the issue was likely overcooking. The shredded pork were well-stirred, with tender meat, but the noodles lacked flavor. They had to be eaten with the pickled mustard greens雪菜 to be slightly salty, and the umami flavor was severely diluted. The tableware is all disposable, and tipping is not mandatory. It's quite affordable.

Both Cantonese and Mandarin were seamlessly spoken. Shrimp Rice Roll / Egg: It looked very appealing. However, the soy sauce was ridiculously sweet, much sweeter than in China, completely exceeding the standard "umami and sweet" of the authentic Cantonese cheung fun腸粉 (rice roll) soy sauce. The cheung fun skin was somehow overcooked, so some parts without egg at the bottom were soggy from soaking in the soy sauce, making the whole roll quite greasy. I have to admire my culinary acumen: I managed to preserve most of the skin's basic texture with the extra egg. Fortunately, the shrimp were fresh enough, six in a serving, with a crispy texture. Oh well, since I'm in America, it's tolerable. I must say, I would never have come here specifically for this, never in my life. Spending $10+ on a plate of cheung fun after traveling so far, will make me feel more like a sucker than ever before!
