    B01Lamb Skewers (2 pcs)

The food was delicious. The eggplants were sooooo good, they were crispy and flavorful and just melted in my mouth. The northeastern style noodles were also very good. The noodles were soft and chewy and the peanut sauce complimented them perfectly. The lamb skewers were also cooked to perfection. The service was amazing. All servers are so kind and accommodating. They are so attentive to our needs and are eager to serve. The ambiance is very relaxed and easy going. It appears that everyone working there is enjoying their time and it feels good to be surrounded by people laughing and having a good time.

Phenomenal food. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor. The service was also very attentive and kind. I highly recommend the clear noodles, beans, and lamb spine. - The clear noodles have an addicting sauce on top of it (it's a perfect blend of spicy, nutty, and pickled tang). - The string beans are unlike any others I've had before. It's super fragrant and pairs wonderfully with rice -- definitely a must get. - For lamb lovers, the lamb spine is SO GOOD. Their flavors keep you gnawing at the bones, and there's a lot of meat attached to each bone. As for the other two dishes we ordered -- the Sichuan pepper fish was yummy but too greasy for me. It's in the nature of the dish to be drenched in oil, which is not my cup of tea. Though the flavors again, great. The tofu skin was also very tasty, I just did not think the bell peppers paired well with the dish. Overall, everything we ordered exceeded my expectations and they gained a new customer. Expect a wait time during typical rush hours. Come a bit earlier during the night (5pm ish) if you want to beat it!

I'd been on a mission to try this place ever since I spotted it. One time I called and tried to talk to someone about a reservation but the lady on the phone could not speak english. I was more intrigued as imo the places that don't cater to the westerners usually have some of the best food and not the best service but who TF is coming for service when the food is bomb. Anyway, they have such a cute logo that's an orange swirl that always caught my attention the few times I passed it.. The crowd was mainly Asian, again a green flag for good food. Not one word of english in the restaurant but me and my friend chatting. They also seemed to assume she spoke chinese lol so she was hilariously trying her best despite her not being at that level. It is probably a good thing that the menu is a QR code. The inside is really nice and feels semi fancy but not too to the point of feeling fake. The food... everything I put in my mouth was so freaking good. You know when you go to a place that is good enough where you are thinking about the food in your future and how you will be getting delivery for it as well?Yes ma'am like the most random mix for me of pumpkin slices with eggplants and green beans suddenly makes sense! That was so freaking good the sauce and how perfectly seasoned it was. Then the pumpkin slices were perfectly crispy to perfection! Pork belly usually tastes the same but these skewers tasted different to me in a good way, again crispy but to the perfect degree! These were definitely my two favorites. I will be back for sure. Now this is what you actually call a "hidden gem". What we got Pork Belly Skewer Pumpkin Slices with eggplants and green beans Beef brisket White rice $$ Food 10 Atmosphere 8 Service 5

Every time we're here, they always try to squeeze us to the small table in the corner somewhere. Generally, we can always tell them we would beed more space. This evening, however, they claimed they had to save the other tables for reservations. We took the small table and dined and finished. And, as expected, no new customers came in whatsoever. Now, can someone explain why these employees have no common sense that they usually don't have customers during certain time? Ever going back again.

Food here is pretty decent actually. Various choices. Particularly liked lamb spine and seafood rice stew. Major complaint is the "seating rules" - they always try to stick two people to the corner where staffs walks in and out all the time, even there are plenty of seatings elsewhere. We are usually there on Friday/weekends at unusual dining times, around 2-4 pm, they keep trying to get us seated at the corner, saying they cannot give us other 4-people tables because they are all reserved. However, each time, until we finish dining, none of those reservations come - those tables were either ever occupied or they just gave them to later coming 2-person parties.

"Modern Chinese cuisine" in a clean, midsized space, with ordering through the Toast app at the table. Servers were welcoming and well intentioned, but had minimal English skills, so best for adventurous eaters without the need to have questions answered. Fried Chicken Wings with Basil Leaves: Smaller wings, all flats, but you get a lot of them (about a dozen), all very well covered in a delicious dry rub. Good balance of salt, sugar, chile pepper powder, and fragrant dried herbs, all of which come through with force (kinda like that extra-densely-loaded bottom of the bag chip in a bag of Tostitos Hint of Lime tortilla chips). Good light crunch and very moist to juicy inner meat. Not the most eye-catching to look at, but looks sometimes deceive. This is a signature dish for a reason. Vegetable Bowl: Cold appetizer most simplistically described as Chinese coleslaw. Some crunch, some wilt, some heat, some sweet, some oil. Tip: if you're on a date, make sure both of you eat this, because it's garlicky. Lamb Skewers: I've had these elsewhere and the ones here were much fresher, much more tender, and literally squirting juices in some of the pieces. Crisp exterior had tastable, feelable dry spices and noticeable salt. Excellent. Looking forward to trying pork belly skewers and some of the other stick heat. Clay Pot Chiba Tofu: Nice presentation in a cradle/hammock. Tender, non-rubbery tofu with flavor but not drowned in sauce. Vegetables complemented nicely. Braised Eggplant with Garlic and Chili: Extremely tender, thick-cut steak-like slices of eggplant, supported with even more vegetables, in a thick brown garlicky sauce. Just a bit on the gloppy side, but balanced with hot oil and more complexity than suburban glop. I'm not an eggplant guy but I liked it a lot. Yu-Xiang Shredded Pork in Hot Garlic Sauce: Almost the pork equivalent of the eggplant dish (brown, spicy, a little sweet), minus the glop, and even more tender. Great accompaniment to the white rice. Wormy looking, but again, looks sometimes deceive. Another winner and another dish for date night planning: don't get it unless both of you will be eating this!

Cute little spot near the end (or beginning) of Harvard Ave in Allston just next to tofu house. This little spot was pretty packed when we came in on a Friday evening, but we were able to still sneak in a table for the two of us. You get this free sweet cracker-like sticks to nibble on as you're ordering food. Adds to the whole cutesy ambiance. We got the Taiwanese fried chicken, beef sour hot pot, and their vinegar soaked potato dish. I actually heard about this place because of their fried chicken and while it was good and hit the spot, it was more like karaage than I would've expected. Nothing wrong with that, just slightly underwhelmed. The beef hot pot on the other hand was superb. The broth was wonderfully balanced with their signature sour taste and it was a lot! We ordered two bowls of rice to buffer the hot pot but each bowl was so perfectly dome shaped it was really two portions for each bowl Unfortunately they were REALLY busy and the potato dish came out very late when we were way too full from just the hot pot and the chicken. We ended up taking most of that home to-go. tldr; neat little Chinese restaurant tucked in the corner of Harvard Ave in Allston. Not mindblowing but very comfort-style food

Good food. We ordered delivery. The food case were high quality and well packed. The beef with glass noodle was flavorful.i think they added sauce with some seafood. It was good. We also had fried green beans. Also great. It was crispy and not over oily.

I went here with my family on Sunday afternoon (12pm). I found out this restaurant from yelp and it has such great reviews, so I was expecting a very good experience in this restaurant. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The service was slow. We ordered 6 dishes in total. It took 30 mins, from the time we ordered, for the first dish to be served; Another 10mins for the next 2 dishes, and another 10mins again for the other 2. I lost my patience after 60mins and my last dish was still not served. We paid our bill right away and asked for the last dish to be wrapped to go. Mind you we didn't order overcomplicated dishes, and even though it's lunch time, but when we came in and put in our order, they weren't busy yet. We ordered Popcorn Chicken, Deep Fried Pork, Seafood Bisque with spinach, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Angus Beef over Rice, and Fried Noodles with Beef ( 2 appetizer, 1 Soup, 3 entrees). I was also disappointed with the servers as none of them come to our table to inform us or assure us that our food is coming or if there's a delay in the kitchen that caused the long wait or whatever. They have 5 servers and none of them come and say anything, not even apologizing for the long wait. I can tell that most of them do not speak english well or at all, but the one that does speak english wouldn't even be bothered to check on us. They do check on other tables that speak Mandarin though. The food itself was pretty decent, hence the 2 stars. The restaurant looks clean and kids friendly. But with the long wait and the poor service, I don't think it's worth it. Perhaps that is the way they serve the food here, slowly one dish at a time. So just keep in mind, if you are short on time and need a quick meal, this is not the place for you.

Hao Shi Guang is a gem of a spot, with good service and a streamlined online ordering and payment system. We tried the beef and kung pao chicken. The chicken was a little too sweet for my liking, but the beef was on point! There is a bit of a language barrier with the staff, but I think that's what makes it so good, and not as busy (yet)!

F09 Angus Beef Over Rice( Spicy, Garlic)

An insanely tasty family-style Chinese restaurant that seems equally able to deliver American-leaning "Chinese" dishes and authentic cuisine. My family and I sampled: - The Angus beef on rice, with pickled cabbage, veggies, and a pan sauce. Heavenly. - Crispy mixed vegetables in their own pan sauce. - The chiba tofu, with a delicious chili spice finish. - The rice noodles with beef. This is the only one I didn't enjoy - it could really have used a veggie for texture, and the noodles were bland. The staff spoke little English. It seems clear that the QR code driven menu and payment are meant to help diners who don't speak Mandarin. The menu is translated and has pictures of most of the food. Would come here again!

Food was delicious but must note it is a bit more DIY than a regular restaurant. When you sit down, you are directed to use your photo to look at the menu and order. If you don't read Chinese, it is a little frustrating how the app cuts off the titles of the dishes but if you click into it, it shows. You also pay right on your phone. Staff are basically food runners which was fine for us but if this is not an experience you are looking for, it may not be the place for you. The skewers were my favorite dishes. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Will definitely come back to try more!

Always a good sign when the service sets the tone early. For starters, we ordered the ceviche, and whew--so fresh and delicious. Absolutely did what it needed to do. We also tried the plantain bowls. While they could've benefited from a sauce or a little extra something to really bring it home, the portion size was impressive, so no complaints there. Now let's talk about the mocktail, because it quite literally blew my wig back. Delicious, refreshing, and the presentation? A full 10/10. Cameras were definitely out. The aesthetics of this place are beautiful--clean, stylish, and very much a foodie influencer's playground. If you enjoy a good ambiance with your meal, this spot delivers visually. For my main, I ordered the steak frites. The fries were crunchy, well-fried, and nicely seasoned--no notes there. The steak, however, was a bit underwhelming. Not bad by any means, just missing something I couldn't quite put my finger on. My taste buds were searching, but the spark never fully showed up. We ended the night with tres leches for my friend's birthday, and honestly, it was one of my favorite tres leches I've had. Moist, flavorful, and the perfect sweet ending. Don't come for me--I'm just speaking my truth. Overall, I'd rate the food a solid 3.5/5, but I'd definitely return to try another dish because the service, drinks, and ambiance were all strong. Despite it not being busy when we arrived, the service remained slow throughout the night. I know we had a big table but half the time our waiter was nowhere to be found and we constantly had to ask the hostess. The water cups were a little small than other restaurants but refills were slow as well. There is one stall so later in the night the line for the bathroom started to get long so keep that in mind. We got a few apps, I definitely would recommend the asian style chicken wings and the calamari those were the best in my opinion especially the wings the sauce on that was delicious. Other than those two, the other tapas had smaller portions and weren't worth getting in my opinion. The main dishes weren't worth getting. They had ran out of bolognese which most people had planned on getting. The other pastas weren't good, the bread was also stale, almost tasted like they reheated it from frozen. I was also expecting a crispy chicken but I think it was grilled and was just really hard. The drinks were good, on the pricier side but worth it compared to everything else.

I feel like a lot of my reviews these days are post-mortems…read more.. Sad to see this place close recently, but I saw the warning signs. I've mainly visited here mid-week. While I know mid-week is a slow period, but it can't be dead. Every occasion I've visited, you might see a couple of people at the bar but the tables are all empty. Which is sad because... The food was pretty solid and affordable. The tapas fare is pretty conventional, which can be good. The croquettes were crispy enough and flavorful. The lamb chops were also flavorful, while being tender and not over-seared. The patatas bravas were hot and crispy. The paella for two, at a decent $35 price, had a good amount of rice and seafood. The seafood might've been a little overcooked but it's hard to time it. The churros made for a nice ending, with a lovely chocolate dipping sauce. They had vegan tapas options, which was good for some in my party. However, the menu was a bit too extensive. They had menu options from seemingly all places and that does not make life easy for BOH. Service was generally okay, but seemingly stretched. Even though there weren't many customers in mid-week, staff appeared to have a variety of tasks. So sometimes we weren't checked on for long stretches. The spot was a former bar, so it had that bar atmosphere. It's located in a decent area, so I hope something good rises out of the ashes.

From a quick…read morecompare of the menu here versus the menu for Barcelona Wine Bar, the prices are about the same or cheaper, especially for the seafood paella for two ($35 at Olespana, which was a sizable portion, versus BWB's $56). Plus, Olespana has a parking lot in the back, as well as abundant metered options along Wells Avenue, which is always a plus in my book. Here were the dishes we ordered, ranked from favorite to least: 1. Patatas with garlic aioli - you cannot go wrong with the combo of basically french fries and mayo but definitely eat this as soon as it hits your table. Otherwise the fries turn mushy, doubly so from the sauce. If you're with a large group, definitely order two of these. 2. Seafood paella - I'm by no means a paella expert but I was impressed by the crunchy bits of rice on the bottom and how flavorful it was. A good amount of different seafood, including shrimp, mussels, clams, and squid, but I would've liked to see the shrimp a little less pink. 3. Garlic mushrooms - I'm a fiend for mushrooms and will order it any time I spot it on the menu, though I'm partial to when they either fry or sauté so the mushrooms get these nice crispy edges. These were a touch too heavy on the sauce, which was very acidic, but I finished pretty much the whole plate of it on my own. 4. Croquettas - Wasn't a fan of the mushy insides though my cousin loved them. 5. Beet salad - Eh. At this point, I should give up on ordering salads in restaurants when I can make them easily at home. The balsamic vinegar dressing was way too tart and I've decided I'm not a fan of oranges in salads. Overall, a fun eclectic spot to eat some tapas and drink whiskey. I got a kick out of how their menu has a section of tapas from other countries, including the USA - our featured options were wings and steak tips. That said, the menu is way too sprawling for its own good - tapas, burgers, pizza, and nachos? That might explain the inconsistency in the dishes we ordered.

Valsos served the most delicious dishes, fresh and perfectly spiced. I literally ate myself into a food coma. The service was a 10 out of a 10. Very accommodating and friendly. And the space is sparkling clean. Highly recommend this gem. I'm already planning my next visit.

After making a reservation, the three of us arrived shortly after noon to find the restaurant completely empty. In fact, there were no staff in sight. After calling toward the kitchen, a waitress appeared, and we seated ourselves. After ordering waters and iced teas, we looked over the extensive menu and chose: * Ay Caramba! ($16) - A vegetarian tapa packed with corn, peppers, spinach, mushrooms, and more. * Margherita Pizza ($18) - Garlic confit, fresh basil, vine-ripened tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella. * Panko-Crusted Baked Haddock ($32) - Served with roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and a white wine cream reduction. The Ay Caramba! was the standout dish of the meal. It was flavorful, with a great texture, and easily our favorite. The Margherita pizza featured a very thin, crisp crust with fresh tomatoes and a light touch of sauce, making for a good but not exceptional pizza. Opinions on the haddock were mixed--one diner enjoyed it, while another thought it had a slightly fishy taste. The restaurant itself has a pleasant, inviting atmosphere, and once service began, our waitress was friendly, attentive, and checked on us several times throughout the meal. At almost $100 with tip, this isn't an innexpensive place. That said, we enjoyed lunch and would be happy to return. Tip: Metered parking is available on the street and there is a small parking lot next to Valsos. You can also park further down toward the beach, about a 5-minute walk to the restaurant.

Food is adventurous & bold; memorable meals over the years: Fried Goat cheese with charcuterie meats, manchego cheese & french bread, have to do The Bocado Experience for 2 or 4, Jamon Iberico, Pato (duck pastrami w sherry glaze), tuna poke, atun de bocado (seared yellowfin saku tuna), braised pork belly, Spanish octopus, mussels in cream sc, twin mini Kobe style beef burgers, venison, fried calamari, lollipop lamb chops, seared beef tenderloin, classic paella & Paella de Mariscos, & baked flan for dessert. Just so fascinating - their chefs can put out such tasty small plates so quickly, each packed with such fresh & exciting flavors, always cooked to perfection (never over or under cooked). Get the sangria pitchers, bar is always packed & hopping. Dining room just got a refresh, but was beautiful even before with a great atmosphere also. Our least favorite was the rabbit (way too many small bones to pick out).

The ambiance was cozy and inviting, though our table was in the middle of the aisle which felt a bit cramped. Unfortunately, the service itself was inconsistent. We had to ask for bread three times. When we ordered two brownies and one coffee, we were brought one brownie and two coffees. At the end of the meal, we asked for both my meal and my son's meal to be wrapped to go. My son's plate was accidentally thrown away because other plates were stacked on top of it. When I asked about it, the server explained what happened but did not offer to remake it, remove it from the bill, or apologize, which was disappointing. That said, it was a busy Friday during Restaurant Week, so I would consider coming back and hope the service is smoother next time. While writing this review, I actually received a text from the restaurant letting me know we left our son's plate behind, which was thoughtful and appreciated. If Yelp allowed half stars, I would give 3.5.

I was looking forward to their red velvet pancakes, but unfortunately, they ran out (mind you, that was around 11:30am and I believe they had just opened at 10:30am). We were also surprised that they don't have any non-dairy, plant-based milk. My sister drinks her coffee with almond milk, but they didn't have it or any alternatives so she opted just to add sugar. There was also a DJ playing music. We enjoyed his music though we didn't think it went with the ambience of the restaurant. It was also loud at some point, and we noticed someone asked the DJ to take it down a notch. I got their Classic Eggs Benedict, which had a poached egg, Canadian bacon, hollandaise, and an English muffin with some greens. My sister got their Call It Breakfast, which had some scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, english muffin. Overall, our food was great, and our server was very attentive. We will, for sure, be back again, and hopefully they'll have the red velvet pancakes. Their Szechuan Eggplant and Tofu dish is also a must try!
