Food is adventurous & bold; memorable meals over the years: Fried Goat cheese with charcuterie meats, manchego cheese & french bread, have to do The Bocado Experience for 2 or 4, Jamon Iberico, Pato (duck pastrami w sherry glaze), tuna poke, atun de bocado (seared yellowfin saku tuna), braised pork belly, Spanish octopus, mussels in cream sc, twin mini Kobe style beef burgers, venison, fried calamari, lollipop lamb chops, seared beef tenderloin, classic paella & Paella de Mariscos, & baked flan for dessert. Just so fascinating - their chefs can put out such tasty small plates so quickly, each packed with such fresh & exciting flavors, always cooked to perfection (never over or under cooked). Get the sangria pitchers, bar is always packed & hopping. Dining room just got a refresh, but was beautiful even before with a great atmosphere also. We came on a Friday during Restaurant Week as a party of four, three adults and one toddler. The food was delicious and our server was friendly. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, though our table was in the middle of the aisle which felt a bit cramped. Unfortunately, the service itself was inconsistent. We had to ask for bread three times. When we ordered two brownies and one coffee, we were brought one brownie and two coffees. At the end of the meal, we asked for both my meal and my son's meal to be wrapped to go. My son's plate was accidentally thrown away because other plates were stacked on top of it. When I asked about it, the server explained what happened but did not offer to remake it, remove it from the bill, or apologize, which was disappointing. That said, it was a busy Friday during Restaurant Week, so I would consider coming back and hope the service is smoother next time. While writing this review, I actually received a text from the restaurant letting me know we left our son's plate behind, which was thoughtful and appreciated. When dining out, I am often eager to try restaurants I haven't been to before, but Bocado is one place I consistently come back to as every experience here has been positive. I love the wide variety of their tapas, and enjoy sharing foods with friends and family and tasting so many flavor combinations. This week, three of us shared the Bocado Experience for 2, and it was plenty of food. I can't not order the fried goat cheese w/ honey. It's such a perfect starter dish! The Atun de Bocado was another highlight...simply seared yellowfin presented beautifully with delicious accompanying sauces, including a lemon basil crema and chili avocado puree. It was definitely a dish that left me wanting more! While the fish was a lovely light starter, by contrast, another successful appetizer was the fried mozzarella rice balls. Similar to arancini, these were fried to crispy perfection with a creamy interior and a bright basil aioli. Another highlight, surprisingly, was the Pollo Asado Lento. The humble chicken thigh was slow roasted to tender perfection, served over creamy cheddar polenta with herbaceous oil and a hint of heat from Calabrian salsa. This was a hearty tapas dish and could have been a great mini-entree on its own. Bocado has expanded their footprint, and each room seems to have its own vibe. We enjoyed our bright window side table in one of the bar/dining spaces, which feels casual and modern. Bocado just doesn't miss. They have an excellent selection of tapas with great portions. We went for our yearly visit (I live out of state) and it is absolutely one of the best places in Worcester. It all started out ok. Great waiter. But then.... i waited to find him for 10 minutes to order another drink. That drink then took 20 minutes. Our Paella then took 45 minutes after our last tapas was delivered. We ended up taking that to go after telling them 3 times to make it to go. The two hostesses did nothing but sit there and play with their hair. The two managers walked around and did almost nothing. After looking at a broken glass for 15 minutes one manager finally cleaned it up. The two bartenders are making drinks and tending to 12 tables. They are understaffed or mis managed. Bad management is always too blame. Food is very good. Hadn't been here for 15 years and probably won't be back. too bad. Not a great experience for 2 parents and teen daughter who had 2 sliders. This place is a gem. Decor is great and there's several different rooms - each with a different vibe. We order the party of two - 6 tapas. We had reservations (highly recommend) and it was very busy..and likely the reason our dishes were staggered so much. (Up to 15 mins after getting first one and never received more than two at a time.) Food was great though. Have heard this is a place to try. Tapas place in a sketchy area. As they say the area is it's up and coming. They offer free valet, you can also park yourself at nearby lot. The place has a romantic adult feeling. This is the type of place to relax and enjoy your meal. If your child doesn't behave, don't take them. Sat at the bar area, since it was busy. Figured it would be the fastest service. Our sever was attentive and friendly, as the rest of the staff. Loved the team environment. Tired a few tapas. The warm potato salad was amazing. A must try, not over saucy and crowded. Second the rice balls with mozzarella (Arancini) Wagyu Hamburgers were delicious and flavorful for the size. Last tried the pollo a la plancha with a feta salad. Not a fan of cucumbers. This was flavorful, the chicken was moist and the items meshed well together. We always love Bocado and went back to celebrate my birthday last week. What a nice surprise to see how they have expanded the original location and added a lovely outdoor patio! The bold new mural is a great accent to the elegantly understated decor. I want these dining chairs! We shared the house sangria, which was delicious and opted for the Bocado Experience, which I recommend highly! You get to share six tapas of your choice plus dessert. Even tho they are small plates it's a lot of food. We especially enjoyed the smoked haddock dip, the albondigas (meatballs) and the mozzarella balls, so yum! The service was awful, I have never been treated like like such scum by the a resturant like I was treated by the host at Bacados. I called Feb 28, whoever was the host was not only condescending but hung up on me. I was asking if they had any reservations, she was scoffing at me, laughing at me and then hung up. This is WORCESTER! Not 5th ave New York City, get a grip and humble yourself. I would fire her immediately, I will never eat here again. I have been in Worcester for over 20 years, I have eaten at Bocados more than 10 times and I will never go back because of that host. This is the second time we've been to Bocado since the new renovation, and we really like the ambience (although it is a bit noisy). Our server was great (shout out to Luis!) and the pace of tapas arriving at the table was perfect. One small glitch when they forgot one of the dishes, but not a huge deal, as they brought it promptly. However I would really like this restaurant to improve the desserts. They are overly sweet, and just not well done. Maybe they should consider partnering with some pastry shop nearby to get something amazing on the menu! read more

Came here after a conference at the DCU. This is a huge restaurant and definitely filled up very quickly so reservations would be recommended on the weekends! The parking was a little tricky - do not park at the lot directly across the street or the lot where the dispensary is. There is a little free lot right around the corner of the restaurant. We opted for the experience for 4, which was a substantial amount of food. Our server was fantastic and had lots of great recommendations. She actually recommended having 10 tapas instead of 8 with the paella but we wanted to try it. The fried goat cheese with honey is a must for the charcuterie board. The bread that came with the board was crispy and soft! The portions for all the tapas were on the larger size except for the roasted cabbage and bacon wrapped scallops. We opted for the churros and ricotta cheesecake for dessert. The churros were fantastic - crispy and came with a rich chocolate sauce. The ricotta cheesecake was a disappointment- it was deconstructed and didn't taste great. I wish we opted for the flan or budino instead. I loved all the different sangria options, and there was a very substantial Spanish drink menu including sherry. The atmosphere is very fun and modern - definitely a bustling place! read more

Extremely Disappointed - Will Never Return I've been a loyal patron of Bocado for years, and I've brought countless friends, family, and out-of-town guests here, always speaking highly of the food, atmosphere, and service. Unfortunately, after what happened this weekend, I will never step foot in this restaurant again--and I strongly urge others to reconsider their visit, especially if you care about being treated with basic dignity and respect. We were celebrating a special occasion--my close friend's bridal shower--with friends visiting from California and New Hampshire. It was meant to be a joyful evening, and we were all genuinely excited to be together. Instead, the experience turned into an embarrassing, frustrating, and deeply disappointing ordeal. It started with our server informing us that "management policy" required us to order food before being allowed to order drinks. Confused, we politely asked to speak to the manager--only to be told directly by him that he never said that, and the server had apparently made it up. We could have let that go--it was odd, but forgivable. Miscommunications happen. But what followed was entirely unacceptable. A second manager approached us, to inform us that we were being kicked out because the server claimed someone in our group called her a "bitch." That allegation is absolutely false. No one at our table would ever say such a thing--two of the women in our party own restaurants and we all work in hospitality. We were laughing, talking, and yes, giggling--we were enjoying ourselves, but by no means were we being disrespectful or unruly. The server's accusation was not only a lie, it felt like a weaponized excuse to get rid of a group of people who were simply celebrating. To make matters worse, I had stepped into the restroom before we were told to leave. When I came back, my friends had been rushed out, and in the chaos, my keys were left behind. I was not allowed to return to the table to check for them. The staff treated me like I was beneath them--whispering, watching, and behaving as if yet again beneath them. It was humiliating. At no point did anyone take accountability for the inconsistencies in their stories. One manager contradicted the other, and the server was dishonest from the start. There was no transparency, no apology, and no effort made to de-escalate the situation or treat us with the respect every guest deserves. This was supposed to be a memorable day for the bride. Instead, it was tainted by an establishment we once trusted. What should have been a celebration ended with us feeling discriminated against, dismissed, and deeply hurt. Bocado--do better. Your staff needs training not just in communication, but in humanity. And for a place that thrives on the business of locals and regulars, your disregard for our loyalty and experience is both baffling and shameful. And guess what, I've come in and been served 8 drinks before, never cut off. So we can't come in giggling and have one round of drinks but if we sit at the bar we can have 8 and be totally over served? Sad to see our happiness and laughter made these people uncomfortable. They must be miserable with their own lives. Get your stories straight next time you want to kick people out or making them feel less than. We will not be back. Such an unprofessional group of people. Shoulda expected trash people as servers here. Making lies up and thriving on gossip! Management is so unprofessional. You lost out on a lot of money tonight and a lot of money in the future because we always come in groups and spend hundreds of dollars. Your loss. They were delicious but we felt rushed to eat things quick. Not quite the idea of having tapas. We ordered from their monthly special the pub house cauliflower steak. From their regular menu, we ordered their charcuteria y queso board consisting of their fried goat cheese, manchego cheese, salchicha de pollo, jamon serrano, and chorizo leon herradura. For tapas, we ordered gambas al ajillo, bolas de arroz frito con mozzarella, chuletas de cordero, pulpo a feira, Casamiento, and tortilla espanola. For dessert we ordered the flan and churros. Everything was delicious and there are definitely other tapas and paellas that we did not have a chance to try. Definitely consider one of the Bocado Experiences. They advertise free valet parking from Wednesday through Sunday and free validated parking at the lot across the street but we did not find either. read more

My family was excited to find a tapas restaurant in Worcester especially they had paella on the menu but the paella was their worst dish. It tasted like whole dish was precooked and just put together when ordered. All the seafood was very over cooked and the rice was soggy. My personal opinion on the paella is that if you put it on the menu this should be their best dish but they failed miserably. The wine was very average. But to be fair the server was very polite and other small dishes ware acceptable. The place was pretty dark. This is just an observation some people may like the places that are a bit darker but I prefer a little brighter places. All in all, I can't not recommend this place. read more

We were seated in the back by the windows(after asking for a warm table).. and ordered the 4-person dining package, despite being a party of three as there wasn't an option for 3. I had a feeling our service was not going to be on part when we sat down as I heard the waiter telling the table behind us he was feeling very tired and run down from the day. **Service Issues:** - Dinner took over two hours to finish its arrival, which felt excessive, especially for small tapas plates, and the fact we ordered 7 small dishes in total (one shrimp dish came Out with dessert) . - Our water glasses remained empty for most of the night. - Used dishes, empty beer glasses, and bottles piled up at the end of our table and were never cleared, even as I wrote this review they remain, but the check has been paid. - The server was preoccupied with a large party next to us and paid little attention to our table. - The table wasn't wiped down after plates were (rarely) taken away. **Food Concerns:** - Dessert was a plate of warmed-up, stale churros. - After two hours, we requested our still-undelivered paella be boxed up. The staff took it to the kitchen where it stayed for 20 additional minutes until it was brought back to us. Was it covered back there or just sitting out in the open, we'll never know. **Additional Frustrations:** - The waiter prioritized other tables--cleaning them, taking plates, and offering more food and wine--while ignoring ours. - Food runners seemed unable to clear tables or assist with packaging our food, insisting we wait for our waiter. - After requesting the check, it took 15 minutes to arrive, despite the waiter frequently checking on surrounding tables. **Overall Impression:** This was a deeply disappointing meal marked by poor service and mediocre food. It's disheartening, as this used to be one of my family's favorite restaurants in Worcester.
