Other than the music being a bit too loud, the meal & service was excellent! Waiter was very friendly & personable. The food & drinks were excellent. Loved the margarita flights! We got the paella for 4. Came with 7 tapas dishes, a charcuterie, cheesecake & crazy good churros. Loved trying all the different foods. Will be going back soon!

I had no idea what to expect tonight. I knew this restaurant, The Castle, my entire life. Way back then, my parents couldn't afford to bring us there so I had no idea what to expect. Now it's a a Spanish restaurant, in a Castle, in Leicester. And now I know- and it's worth the drive!!!!! Definitely will be back and HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!!!! Great drinks, excellent food, and a lovely ambiance!!!! I could see lights on the patio overlooking the water!!! My husband and I want to come back to eat out there this Spring- with family and friends!!!! Grab your friends and family, order the spicy margaritas and let your taste buds be amazed!!!! The Spanish soup was AMAZING, highly recommend!!!!

We arrived for dinner and were seated in a matter of minutes. Our total order included several specialty drinks, empanada tapas, salmon, & trio fajitas. We ate in the dining room. The room, as one would expect because of the design, was very echo-y. This wouldn't have been too bad, but the music they had on, which was good, was far too loud. We were nervous when we a musician (guitarist) came in and set up because most seem to believe that volume = good. We were pleasantly surprised that he played and sang at a reasonable volume. He was good. It took quite some time for our drinks to be ordered... then delivered. By time our tapas (appetizers) arrived, we had already seen a few couples come in, eat, & leave. Our service was painfully slow. The beef empanadas were delicious and couldn't have been better. After another (ridiculous) wait, our main course was served. The salmon was delicious and cooked to perfection. However, the mashed potatoes & asparagus sides on the same plate, while tasty, were cold all the way through. The fajita fixings were served on what was supposed to have been a sizzling dish, but it was luke warm, at best. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and perfectly hot. Served on a separate plate were the rice and beans, both of which were steaming hot and flavorful. In summary: The drinks were all great, mixed properly, and well balanced. The food, while delicious, was not portioned onto the plates together at the time of serving, so the temperatures were mostly inappropriate. The staff was all quite friendly, but our service was painfully slow.

What a great place to find! We were the only customers for a while this afternoon as I'm sure people were waiting until later for their big New Years eve party. The place is as unique as can be. The staff was super attentive and fast of course because we were the only ones there at the time. I'm guessing that it would be the same even if the place was full. The food came amazingly fast and was surprisingly wonderful. I expected "Americanized' Spanish food and what I got was REAL Spanish food as I'd get if I were in Barcelona. Our waiter was right on the ball and brought each serving out rapidly as we went though 5 courses of Tapas and a Paehla before desert. Drinks were super also. Very good flight of Margarita's to play with. Zero complaints on this visit and hopefully many future visits. I look forward to working my way through the menu as it's full of new temptations worth checking into! Best wishes for the folks that run the place and work there. You are doing a great job of it!

A little ride out of Worcester but absolutely worth it, with a awesome Castle atmosphere. The margarita flight was strong and tasty! All the food to follow was on point with flavor and great portions.

Fried goat cheese. Sirloin steak in background.

Food is adventurous & bold; memorable meals over the years: Fried Goat cheese with charcuterie meats, manchego cheese & french bread, have to do The Bocado Experience for 2 or 4, Jamon Iberico, Pato (duck pastrami w sherry glaze), tuna poke, atun de bocado (seared yellowfin saku tuna), braised pork belly, Spanish octopus, mussels in cream sc, twin mini Kobe style beef burgers, venison, fried calamari, lollipop lamb chops, seared beef tenderloin, classic paella & Paella de Mariscos, & baked flan for dessert. Just so fascinating - their chefs can put out such tasty small plates so quickly, each packed with such fresh & exciting flavors, always cooked to perfection (never over or under cooked). Get the sangria pitchers, bar is always packed & hopping. Dining room just got a refresh, but was beautiful even before with a great atmosphere also. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, though our table was in the middle of the aisle which felt a bit cramped. Unfortunately, the service itself was inconsistent. We had to ask for bread three times. When we ordered two brownies and one coffee, we were brought one brownie and two coffees. At the end of the meal, we asked for both my meal and my son's meal to be wrapped to go. My son's plate was accidentally thrown away because other plates were stacked on top of it. When I asked about it, the server explained what happened but did not offer to remake it, remove it from the bill, or apologize, which was disappointing. That said, it was a busy Friday during Restaurant Week, so I would consider coming back and hope the service is smoother next time. While writing this review, I actually received a text from the restaurant letting me know we left our son's plate behind, which was thoughtful and appreciated. If Yelp allowed half stars, I would give 3.5.

We were waited upon shortly after being seated. The dining room is spacious, nicely lit, and the seating at tables is comfortable. We decided to go with all tapas to share. We started with a nicely dressed house salad. Then we ordered and shared grilled shrimp a la plancha, empanadas, chorizo, and lamb-beef-pork skewers. All were nicely plated and delicious. We each ordered a Spanish rose which was a perfect accompaniment to the tapas. We celebrated my wife's birthday with a scrumptious order of chocolate lava cake served with a scoop of ice cream. Service was friendly and professional. Sadly, however, the dining room was noticeably not busy. We wondered why- could it have been that people were worried about the upcoming blizzard and just decided to stay home? What a shame. This is a really fine restaurant. If in the mood for Spanish-influenced cooking, then you really must give Bistro Mediterranean Grill and Tapas Bar a try.

We asked the bartender if we could enjoy the Happy Hour at one of the tables, he said, No. Only at the bar. Something that was not spelled out on the menu nor the website. We sat at the bar. The menu listed the house gin at $5. I asked which Gin did they use as House Gin. The bartender said, I can give you Tanqueray but the price is not $5 like the menu says, it's $7. He said that menu was from Milford, not Westbrook. Weird...so I get a glass of wine, which did ring at $6 like the menu said. We ordered a few "tapas". Out of the four that we tried, the best one was the turnover (empanada), then the meatballs (tiny meatballs), then the fried calamari (which tasted and looked out of a frozen wholesale fried calamari bag) and last the pork medallion (not tasty at all). When the bill came, two of the tapas had the wrong price (higher than what the menu said)....I had to ask the bartender to rectify, which he did.....Poor people the ones that do not check their bills....they can easily be overcharged here....Big time..... Not recommended....not coming back.

However, we started with a Martini and a Cubano Viejo - both of which were well made and went down nicely. While we were deciding we nibbled on delicious almonds. As usual we shared a number of dishes. The seasonal Croquettes, the Patatas Bravas (slightly spicy), Gambas Ajillo with extra bread to sop up the tasty sauce, and to top it all our favorite Lamb Chops. For dessert we had an excellent pistachio tart washed down with a glass of a fine Cabernet. All the dishes were excellent and deserving of the highest rating - rare for us. If you can sit at the bar or in one of the 2 tables by the window, you'll get excellent service. The charcuterie board is great, and the drink selection is also pretty good. However, the last time we came here, it was the middle of the afternoon on Valentine's day. I'm from Boston and Cape Cod and my partner is European; we look like it and we act like it. Upon a brief interaction with the hostess, we both felt spoken down to: "YOU'RE trying to come in on Valentine's day? Without a reservation?" This, coming from someone with a Worcester accent who was dressed like a boy going to church choir. We were shooed away into the dining area: "I guess you could stand over there and look at the menu". It's about 330 in the afternoon- most tables are completely empty. Then a different staff member, also with a working class accent, says "I need you to clear out of this walkway because this is for staff only", despite the fact that no staff were walking there and we had been standing there about 20-30 seconds. We left without saying anything as the hostess tried to say something to us. If you want to feel spoken down to, in the working class city of Worcester no less, come here. Alternately, if you're feeling aggressive and want to squeeze your way in to sit touching shoulder to shoulder, come here. The time before this, the hostess was a soft-spoken woman who mumbled a lot; we had to elbow people out of the way at the middle bar section, which is where she directed us. Maybe in another year I'll want to come back for lunch only. Honestly, I'd rather drive back to Boston if I'm going to be treated snobbishly.

The flavors were bold yet balanced, and the Indian influences stood out for their authenticity and depth rather than being diluted for fusion's sake. Compliments to the chef for creating such thoughtful, seamless combinations. The cocktails were equally impressive--we tried the sangria and the spiced goose, both of which paired wonderfully with the food and reinforced the Mediterranean spirit of the menu. They came back around 4 or 5 times to ask me what kind of tea, if I want milk, should the milk be hot or cold, like a "cup" of tea or "something else"? It took about 20 minutes and the involvement of three people for them to bring me half a mug of hot water, a little cup of (hot) milk, and a celestial seasonings English Breakfast tea bag and then had the temerity to charge 9 DOLLARS for it. They really are fried to perfection. Frituras de Maiz: (10/10): Wow, these fritters are also amazing. They come with such a rich sauce. The fritters are exploding with flavor. Cazuela de Coliflor Asada (9/10): Insanely good dish. The cauliflower has perfect texture, complemented by the pistachios. The sauce is SO good. The cauliflower soaks it up so well. Chicharrones (9/10): Melt in your mouth pork belly. The pork skin crust was perfect. The sauces really make most of the dishes here. This dish is no different - I loved the sauce. Ropa Vieja (9/10): Perfectly slow cooked meat. One thing that really stood out to me was actually the white rice. The rice was VERY high quality, and I appreciated it so much. It's rare to come by rice this good. It had the perfect texture, chew, and fragrance. Ropa Vieja de Hongos (9/10): Pretty much the same as Ropa Vieja above. The mushrooms are delicious, and the dish is just as good whether your order the mushroom or steak version. Empanada del Carne (9/10): Oh man, the crusts are so good. This is pretty on par with the ones I just had in Puerto Rico. Chuletas de Cordero (8/10): The seasoning is heavenly. I was licking the lamb chops clean. Croquetas (8/10): Very solid croquetas. Wouldn't say it's a must-order, but you can't go wrong with them. Costillas a la Guayaba (6/10): The first time I had this it was really nicely marinated, and the rib meat is so tender that it almost falls off the bone. The second time, the meat was dry. Maduros con Tocino (6.5/10): This dish was pretty good, but got overshadowed by the other ones. Pulpo (6.5/10): Octopus was tender and savory. The potatoes were too salty. Camarones a la Plancha (6.5/10): Solid dish, but I enjoyed some other ones even more. Ensalada de Aguacate y Pina (6/10): The salad was a bit too sour, and that sourness overpowered the dish. It was a great blend of ingredients, though. *** and one dessert *** Churros con Chocolate (8.5/10): Big crunchy fluffy churros!! The chocolate sauce is amazing (not really spicy at all). You have to get this for dessert!!

The sliders, which were not on the menu, were fantastic. The beef empanadas were good. The beet salad was excellent. The mushroom balls were good. Tres leches very good. I'd recommend. Nice place inside. Parking close by.
