The $3 tiny "cheese" empanada had clearly been sitting all day. There was a tiny piece of dried up cheese inside the mostly hollow, chewy, stale empanada. It's been awhile since I've been back and the interior/ambiance is much nicer now. The tables are pushed against the wall and there's room to order without feeling overwhelmed. Service was quick and great. The food is amazing as always! I got the fish stew, it was a little dry and salty. But as always I really like the oxtail stew, super flavorful and tender. The lemonade homemade drink tastes a bit sugary, I did wonder if it's real lemonade. Next time I'd like to try the stew chicken and sancocho soup. Oxtail again haha! Sazon is an authentic neighborhood joint that offers a wide range of Latino eats from plantains (omg, do yourself a favor and make sure to order a double serving of this) to empanadas to rice and beans to different meats. My cousin, who's a local, recommended the spot and it was a hit for me! One thing I noticed when I came in is that they don't serve food in actual dishes but rather automatically put all food in to-go boxes and there weren't a ton of folks dining-in. Additionally, the place is modest in size so so it may be a spot that's better for ordering to-go (which is what my family did.) While they don't offer a *ton* of veggie options (I'd love to see them incorporate at least one veggie stew or other veggie option in future), I was able to build a plate out of their perfectly seasoned rice/ beans and plantains. Meanwhile, my family members chowed down on their meats! Everyone was very impressed with their food and cleaned their to-go boxes. The one downside to this spot is that the staff isn't necessarily warm/ friendly *but* with their constant stream of customers, I can see why they'd want to get each customer in/ out quickly without exchanging pleasantries. This is a Dominican restaurant. I had never had Dominican food before - so needless to say I was excited to try it out. First of all there was a line here and the people preparing the Togo plates took forever! Like any typical Spanish place they can pack in the rice. One of these Togo plates can easily be shared with two people. I ordered white rice, gandules, pollo asado and a pionono. The pionono was absolutely delicious. It's basically mashed plátano stuffed with meat. By far the most delicious Spanish appetizer I've tried. One thing I loved about this place is that you can tell them less rice, more meat and vice versa. You can basically customize your plate. They don't have a calculator so they literally sum up your total with their brains lol. So make sure they don't over charge you. We bought meals for 4 adults with drinks and apps for $22 yup $22. Came here with a colleague from work. We had a job in Worcester and were gonna there all day. I'm usually skeptical about Latin food that isn't my own, but he insisted that we go and I'm glad I went. The Pernil (Roast Pork) and yellow rice was amazing. The prom was moist and tender, not dry and chew like the other places I tried. Pretty typical hole in the wall Dominican spot, with a bit of a diner feel. The portions are huge, I got the large and it was definitely enough food for two meals. If you're planning on just eating alone and don't want left overs, there's no reason for you to order anything other than a small. I got the roast chicken, and while the white meat was pretty dry, the dark meat was juicy and delicious. I wish they'd give an option to pick what you want.
