Red and white sangria
Bill Z.

There's a lot of good variety here, not only with your food and drink options, but also your choices of seating. There's a cozy, warm, friendly, feel here, and that's also reflected in the service you receive. We stuck with sangria for our dinner here. They make both a red and a white, we had both, and I think they make them to order as each carafe tasted slightly different (which I consider a good thing). The cocktail menu looks interesting too. The tapas menu seems pretty standard but interesting. The charcuterie board is an excellent start for a party of 4. I found the sauces to be flavorful, particularly for the lamb meatballs and the garlic shrimp, and I was glad we got bread with which to sop it up! The pleasant surprise for me were the bacon wrapped dates. If I had to complain about anything, I would have liked the brussels sprouts to be a bit crisper. But all-around, this is a place I would enjoy visiting and would want to sample everything on the menu.

Fried cheese, salted fish

Super pricey, which is just kind of the nature of tapas, but we ended up paying 50$ per person and still feeling actively hungry afterwards

Had the following: Pan con tomate Chorizo a la plancha Calamares andaluza Papas bravas Hongos al ajillo Churros Chocolate cake Favorites were the papas bravas (potatoes), hongos (mushrooms), and chorizo. Churros were solid. Plenty of street parking available and while I made reservations, there were definitely spots available for walk ins.

Where ambiance Meets Tapas…read more If Hogwarts had a lounge in Acton, it would be Velvet Vine. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is equal parts cozy and enchanting -- dim lighting, chic décor, and just enough buzz to feel alive without being overwhelming. We kicked things off with a Witches Brew that was downright spellbinding -- a drink that could charm even the most skeptical Muggle. The Espresso Martini was pure wizardry: smooth, bold, and guaranteed to keep you wide-eyed through the night. A mixed drink rounded out the trio, each cocktail crafted with flair and a touch of mischief. The food was a playful parade of indulgence: * Tater tots that were crispy little golden spells. * Meatballs that packed a savory punch. * Sliders that were small but mighty, disappearing faster than you can say "Accio burger." * Goat cheese that was creamy, tangy, and downright addictive. * Raviolis that felt like little pockets of happiness. * caramel cheese cake was outstanding The staff? Absolute charmers. Attentive without hovering, quick with drinks, and genuinely welcoming. You get the sense they love being part of the magic here. Velvet Vine isn't just dinner -- it's an experience. Come for the cocktails, stay for the tapas, and leave already planning your next visit!

| A true neighborhood gem with global soul…read more Visited Zayith with family and visiting friends after multiple strong recommendations--and it exceeded every expectation. If you love the vibe and culinary creativity of Sarma or Oleana, Zayith absolutely belongs on your list. We sampled a wide range of the menu--patatas bravas, murgh malai skewers, lentil nachos, skordostoumbi (Zakynthos-style garlic shrimp), kataifi-wrapped prawns, and paneer butter masala--and every single dish was executed beautifully. The flavors were bold yet balanced, and the Indian influences stood out for their authenticity and depth rather than being diluted for fusion's sake. Compliments to the chef for creating such thoughtful, seamless combinations. The cocktails were equally impressive--we tried the sangria and the spiced goose, both of which paired wonderfully with the food and reinforced the Mediterranean spirit of the menu. The experience truly felt transportive--taking us from the streets of Seville to Greece and India in one sitting. The ambience is warm and inviting, making it equally well-suited for a family dinner, a special night out, or a relaxed evening with friends. We're so glad to have discovered this neighborhood gem--and it's safe to say we'll be regulars.

Hot food came on freezing cold plates which made it immediately turn cold. Prices were incredibly high for the food quality and quantity. But the one anecdote which really sums up our whole experience: I asked for a cup of hot tea (it was COLD in there). They came back around 4 or 5 times to ask me what kind of tea, if I want milk, should the milk be hot or cold, like a "cup" of tea or "something else"? It took about 20 minutes and the involvement of three people for them to bring me half a mug of hot water, a little cup of (hot) milk, and a celestial seasonings English Breakfast tea bag and then had the temerity to charge 9 DOLLARS for it. It was so utterly ridiculous. I'm usually willing to give people a second chance if there was anything good about the experience but this one is just a no from me.

Just so fascinating - their chefs can put out such tasty small plates so quickly, each packed with such fresh & exciting flavors, always cooked to perfection (never over or under cooked). Get the sangria pitchers, bar is always packed & hopping. Dining room just got a refresh, but was beautiful even before with a great atmosphere also. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, though our table was in the middle of the aisle which felt a bit cramped. Unfortunately, the service itself was inconsistent. We had to ask for bread three times. When we ordered two brownies and one coffee, we were brought one brownie and two coffees. At the end of the meal, we asked for both my meal and my son's meal to be wrapped to go. My son's plate was accidentally thrown away because other plates were stacked on top of it. When I asked about it, the server explained what happened but did not offer to remake it, remove it from the bill, or apologize, which was disappointing. That said, it was a busy Friday during Restaurant Week, so I would consider coming back and hope the service is smoother next time. While writing this review, I actually received a text from the restaurant letting me know we left our son's plate behind, which was thoughtful and appreciated. If Yelp allowed half stars, I would give 3.5.

The Pan de Casa and Albondigas were the clear crowd favorites. My parents are in their 60s and adventurous eaters, and they were absolutely blown away. My dad couldn't stop raving about the meatballs! A huge shoutout to Kayla, our server, who was attentive, warm, and made the whole evening feel special. Sunday is a great night to go, relaxed vibe, great service, and the kitchen is clearly on point. T'ahpas 529 is a gem in Melrose. We will absolutely be back!

So I visited T'ahpas many years ago - date night dinner, left the kids at home & wanted adult food and Tapas were becoming all the rage at the time. Read good reviews, got there, small place, quaint, really good atmosphere, we began ordering food and OMG did we order sooo much, we liked a few things so much we ordered multiple plates, Im talking total fat kid night... Then we are sitting there and it was later at night so the place was empty and instantly I FREEZE - My BF at the time looked at me and noticed panic, he knew exactly what I saw from my reaction - there was a mouse in the dining room, now listen, I GET IT.. All restaurants have them, I wasnt even grossed out like that, THEY ARE MY BIGGEST fear in life, like if someone said Heres a million dollars be in a room with a mouse, I would have to pass! That scared, I dont know why - just am!!! So I exhaled and sat there... it started to run closer, it then disappeared and I slowly was able to unclench and then it came back like 20 mins later, this mouse was ballsy, like there are people walking around in & out and I just couldnt anymore. We got the bill and left, and I told many people and they said I should have complained on the spot but that just isnt me... Im just mad because the Food was GOOOOOOOD... I want to go back but a part of me is just like Nope, Not going to happen! So my take, the food is great, better than great! Hoping it was a one off situation and not a regular occurrence but I would love to come back, Im just a big pussy!

They really are fried to perfection. Frituras de Maiz: (10/10): Wow, these fritters are also amazing. They come with such a rich sauce. The fritters are exploding with flavor. Cazuela de Coliflor Asada (9/10): Insanely good dish. The cauliflower has perfect texture, complemented by the pistachios. The sauce is SO good. The cauliflower soaks it up so well. Chicharrones (9/10): Melt in your mouth pork belly. The pork skin crust was perfect. The sauces really make most of the dishes here. This dish is no different - I loved the sauce. Ropa Vieja (9/10): Perfectly slow cooked meat. One thing that really stood out to me was actually the white rice. The rice was VERY high quality, and I appreciated it so much. It's rare to come by rice this good. It had the perfect texture, chew, and fragrance. Ropa Vieja de Hongos (9/10): Pretty much the same as Ropa Vieja above. The mushrooms are delicious, and the dish is just as good whether your order the mushroom or steak version. Empanada del Carne (9/10): Oh man, the crusts are so good. This is pretty on par with the ones I just had in Puerto Rico. Chuletas de Cordero (8/10): The seasoning is heavenly. I was licking the lamb chops clean. Croquetas (8/10): Very solid croquetas. Wouldn't say it's a must-order, but you can't go wrong with them. Costillas a la Guayaba (6/10): The first time I had this it was really nicely marinated, and the rib meat is so tender that it almost falls off the bone. The second time, the meat was dry. Maduros con Tocino (6.5/10): This dish was pretty good, but got overshadowed by the other ones. Pulpo (6.5/10): Octopus was tender and savory. The potatoes were too salty. Camarones a la Plancha (6.5/10): Solid dish, but I enjoyed some other ones even more. Ensalada de Aguacate y Pina (6/10): The salad was a bit too sour, and that sourness overpowered the dish. It was a great blend of ingredients, though. *** and one dessert *** Churros con Chocolate (8.5/10): Big crunchy fluffy churros!! The chocolate sauce is amazing (not really spicy at all). You have to get this for dessert!!

We had a group of 7 and ordered an initial batch of small plates to share across the table: empanadas, chickpeas, yuca fries, octopus, and fried squash blossoms. We had some dietary restrictions in the group so it was important to know what each dish was so that person could avoid some of the small plates. We couldn't figure out what the squash blossoms or octopus dishes were until someone tasted them. Each small plates has enough to serve 2-3 people - so if you have a large group like us, then you need to order at least 2 of every small plate to share across the table. The empanada was simply a small chicken empanada and the taco was some sort of braised pork in a thin tostone instead of a corn tortilla. Both were nice looking, but just standard fare. For me the fried squash blossoms were the best - after we figured out what they were. The service was spotty. After ordering the first round of small plates, it took a long time for the waiter to come back so we could order more. They also use food servers that can only deliver food to your table - the servers can't really explain the dishes or take orders for more small plates. For that - you need to wait for your waiter to make it back to your table. For 7 people, with a round of drinks at the table, shared desserts, and an automatic 20% tip for large parties (which is fine - I would have given them 20% anyway), the bill came out to be $560. They were very nice about splitting the bill 7-ways so each person could provide a credit card. The parking was easy with a big municipal lot behind the restaurant. My overall opinion is that it's a nice atmosphere, but the food under-achieved and the service could have been better.
