Amaia Martini Bar was phenomenal! A buddy and I went last night for dinner and drinks. What I ordered is below. The lobster bisque is some of the best I've ever had! I use Fred a Steve's Steakhouses at the casino in RI as my reference. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was definitely in my top two, right up there with Willy's Steakhouse in Shrewsbury, MA. The 2 martinis I ordered were fantastic. The French Kiss consisted of Bombay Sapphire Gin, a Prosecco float. fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. 1 Lobster Bisque $11.00 2 French Kiss $24.00 1 Lobster Mac & Cheese $28.00 The service was excellent, albeit a bit on the slower side for cocktails, but nothing to really complain about. The atmosphere is very cozy and intimate. We were seated between 2 other larger parties. Our neighboring tables were very friendly and made for a very nice atmosphere. We left before the band that was setting up started performing. I imagine it would get quite loud for such a small space. We will certainly return to try other dishes and cocktails. Extremely unprofessional service...apparently my husband is "super weird" and the server was afraid of him. Not sure why as we had minimal interaction with her. Literally just said hello and placed an order for food and drinks. We ordered some drinks and food and he hates runny egg yokes and asked if it could be cooked a bit longer than usual so it wasn't runny. Really upsetting and embarrassing to get our check and see him called names on the check. Obviously we won't be eating here again. He also ordered a gluten free burger bun as he has a gluten allergy and received a regular bun which was discovered by us when he questioned that it didn't look gluten free. Met a friend on a Wednesday night for the martini and burger special. Love that they have old school reruns and painter Bob Ross reruns on the TVs. All the seats are high-tops with booths and bar areas. Server/Bartender was super helpful and nice when choosing the drinks and burgers. Burger was solid and the drinks were tasty! Had a couples night at Amaia which was surprisingly not that great. We had several of the cocktails and most were not that good. The Bacon Old Fashioned had hardly any bacon to it and it was super sweet. And I love Old Fashioneds. The tapas were decent but some were also not orderable again. If you're looking for a mediocre (being nice) drink for a reasonable price (the only positive about the place), then you might be ok with this place. My wife and I saw the menu online and thought we'd give it a shot. We should have walked out after we sat down when we noticed that all of the lights were flickering, giving off a seizure-inducing, techno dance club vibe. Eventually the waitress was able to reduce this, but it started to come back as we were leaving. The two drinks we ordered were drinkable, but both had problems. The French Kiss, suffered from a lack of lime juice and St. Germain and was basically a Gin martini with a splash of each, which just wasn't as advertised. I had the Smoking Bee, which was supposed to have been served in a glass smoked with lavender. That's a very creative idea, but if that occurred, it somehow managed to leave behind no smoke or lavender aroma. As such, the mezcal version of the bees knees was meh. Now, onto the lowlights... the food. All I can say is... WOW... I'm not sure I've had worse food in a bar/restaurant before. We kinda thought the food was going to be meh, so we only ordered two apps. The mini tacos (coconut shrimp) and sweet corn and chorizo flatbread. We were able to eat the mini tacos. Even though we waited a good 15-20 minutes for them, they somehow managed to arrive cold. The shrimp were battered and overly fried, visibly burnt. I expected them to be piping hot, but no. Then came the flatbread. It looked like a Celeste microwave pizza I had when I was like 14. However, those at least didn't have crust that could break teeth. I tried one bite and the shock of how hard the crust was hit me almost literally like a brick. My wife wouldn't even try it. We asked for the check and left. It did leave us with a story we'll tell peeps for the rest of our lives, though!! :). That said, I'd steer clear of this place. read more

Just visited here after they re-opened after long covid break. This was my first visit. Loved it. The atmosphere is cozy. Staff was super friendly, but not overdoing it. Food was yummy. I had shrimp risotto that was delish. It had a tomato viniagrette that made the dish really pop. Good sized portion. I was a little unsure of what "tapas" actually meant IRL. Amazing drinks and food. Was there with a friend and ordered two martinis: the "007" and "JE NE SAIS QUOI" amazing. They were so craftily prepared and presented. We ordered from the tapas menu: Sriracha Honey Boneless wings and Brisket Fries Poutine. Fantastic! The Wings sauce was perfect balance of sweet and fire and the thick brisket sauce with poutine on fries was killer. We shared their Pork Belly Burger with Fried Egg. Sat at the bar and enjoyed 7-10 minutes of high quality navel gazing before ordering drinks. Tried to get a Hendricks Martini, which was dutifully produced without vermouth. Not a martini. We enjoyed the sauce that came with the calamari, but didn't need it spilled on the plate by our server. She seemed to notice the spill, but said and did nothing. Not a big deal for us, but more weak execution. We ordered some sort of soft cheese tapas. It tingled on the tongue. Clearly, it was bad. I told our waitress. She apologized, then left it on the bill. We didn't follow up (shouldn't have to). Poor form. This place has potential, but their execution sucks. At their prices, I expect A LOT more. Amaia turned out to be a much smaller place than we anticipated. It truly is just a bar with only high top seating. The bar has a nice ambience with stacked rock wall, and upscale lighting...but the abundance of toss pillows on the bench seating do not make the high top seating anymore comfortable. The menu is fairly limited, but interesting, and didn't strike us as a great value for the money. We started with some selections from their Charcuterie menu - you could choose one selection of meats for $6 per selection or $15 for 3 and cheeses were $4 for one, or 3 for $10. We ordered 3 of each for $25 and thought that the portions were minuscule (see picture) though they did come with a generous of portion of bread which is not even mentioned in the charcuterie descriptions. I've received more cheese for free at the supermarket deli counter. It was all very tasty, just not enough to be very satisfying. The cocktails were good and well made, but were small in volume. Our Strawberry Jalapeno Martini was delicious, but served in a small glass filled with too much ice and not enough cocktail. A few sips and it was gone. The Espresso Martini and Je ne sais quoi were served in martini glasses that seemed smaller than typical. From the Tapas menu we ordred the Duck Confit Grilled cheese which proved to be too rich for my personal tastes with a small quantity of duck that fell out of the sandwich halves and couldn't really be eaten with it contained between the pieces of bread. For 3 drinks, a tiny plate of sliced pepperoni and chorico, and some smidgeons of cheese, a grown up grilled cheese, tax and gratuity our bill was $93. We didn't order entrees. The food and drink were good, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was intimate and trendy, but the value for the money was poor in my opinion--mainly do to the stingy portion sizes. It was pretty empty for a Saturday night. On our way back to our car we passed several other bars and restaurants which were packed with people, so I can only guess that we are not the only people that would avoid a return visit due to the lack of value. read more

This bar is located close to my residence and i have always wanted to try. I visited on a Saturday night with a group of people and we were for the most part ignored. Granted they were busy, we stood there for five minutes and made eye contact with bartenders multiple times. My husband and i both gave up on trying to flag one down and left. The seating is uncomfortable, the service mediocre, and while the cocktails are good, the food is questionable. First time last night with group of work friends. Atmosphere was lovely and very tastefully done. We each had an martini ,2 of us had the French kiss, 1 had a peach variety and the other had one called the Caribbean. All drinks were really well made- kudos to the bartender- one would hope if you're going to have a martini bar that would be the case. It was. We all tried each other's Bev and were in agreement - Delish!! The food was exceptional. Tapas dishes are perfect for this place. We tried the fried goat cheese , risotto (best I've ever had!! I'm Italian and I not only make a kick ass risotto myself I seek out to try it when dining out and I'm usually left underwhelmed -not tonight!) the duck confit , olive tapenade ( not a favorite), apple cider French onion soup (exquisite!!) and the saffron dmare(sauce was a bit too sweet but the seafood was very good) We'll all be back!! read more

Went to Amaia for the first time last night after wanting to try this place for about a year. Not impressed. Ordered the chicken thigh dish (over rutabaga) around 8:00...it came out of the kitchen around 8:45pm like a completely inedible hockey puck (hard & over cooked). I sent it back only to have the (re-made) chicken dish come out around 9:10pm. I finally got to eat my dinner around 9:15 - well after my companion ate her bife de Amaia hanger steak dinner (which was burnt to a crisp but she was too hungry to complain so she just ate it anyway). Service excruciatingly slow and kitchen way off their game. Also they serve their $11 margaritas in a 4-5 .oz highball glass (wtf??) over lots of ice. So you're probably only getting about 2-3 .oz of actual "margarita" for your money. Not cool at all. Get some real margarita glasses and stop ripping off your patrons. 1 star because of the decor and atmosphere (beautiful). 1 star because they took my overcooked chicken dish and my dessert off the bill without my having to ask them (as they should have). Great Martinis first of all, our group tried quite a few. Started with the Charcuterie and Cheese board which were awesome and unique. All the entrees we had were solid as well. Service is good but get there a little earlier on the weekends as business picks up later in the evenings. read more
