Awe, what happened? Went last eve with four of us, which we do every 2 months, noticed the menu has changed and prices have risen. We all traveled about 40 mins to get here. Server was great, but food was very bland and smaller portions. Ziti, chicken and brocoli had no flavor, needed garlic and more wine, chicken parm now 2 small cutlets which were soggy and again lacked flavor. I ordered the bang bang salmon ($26) with mashed potato and spinach and it came out in about 20 minutes. The salmon was cooked to a "well done" temp but managed to still be very moist with the sauce. The mashed potatoes were very smooth and creamy and paired well with the salmon. Spinach was also good. Staff were very friendly and the interior had a nice vibe to it. Funny side story, I read the reviews and they all seemed good but I got the locations mixed up. I was thinking it was Remmys and went to visit my friend here. After a while of not seeing her I realized I was at the wrong restaurant. I quickly jumped in the car and was lucky to get parking right out front! The restaurant looked new and was very cleaned. We got a booth near the bar and was quickly helped out. I ordered the steak tips and a soda. I normally would of ordered a mix drink but had to drive to Logan shortly after The food was quick to arrive. I got potatoes and rice pilaf as a side. The food was delicious! The mashed potatoes tasted lil they were just made and the texture of the rice pilaf was perfect. The steak tips had a little extra salt but otherwise was very good! I loved the atmosphere as well reminded me of a Cheers vibe as a restaurant. I would not hesitate to come back and order some of the nice drinks they had on the menu. read more

I came back for the Lobster Roll & sweet potato fries but ended up trying the Lobster and Shrimp Scampi with Angel hair Pasta with wine sauce and tomatoes. Nice portion of large shrimp and lobster. I had no leftovers. Service was great sat at the bar Fran was the bartender and server very nice as well as the staff. Had a glass of Cupcake Moscato very good and Nicole the other bartender was nice as well and even suggested a drink to try Lemon Fritz I will return. Went with a group last week and the apps were very bad surprisingly. We got nachos which had barely any cheese, and we added chicken and they couldn't bother to cut the chicken up? They basically put the entire chicken breasts on top of the dry chips. They also didn't serve salsa or sour cream with them? Weird. We also got potato skins which were so dry. Also no sour cream or dipping sauce was included. We shared chicken tenders which were super dry. The meals looked ok. I had just visited Lake Williams Boardwalk in Marlboro, Massachusetts and was looking for a place to grab lunch. I came upon Welly's Restaurant in Marlborough, MA and noticed they also have another location in Hudson, MA. On a Saturday afternoon around 2pm, there were plenty of street parking right on Main Street available. On one side inside of the restaurant is a bar and the other side is a family-friendly dining room. There is outside seating too. We were seated at a single booth with chairs in front on the left side of the restaurant. The bar with seating is right in the center and restrooms are in the back. It is very cozy and spacious with booths, single booths, and tables. The menu has so many good options from starters, salads, entrees, burgers, and pizza. I ordered a Brazilian Caipirinha with strawberry ($0.50 extra). The caipirinha was really tasty and refreshing. It has Novo Fogo Cachaca, muddled limes and raw sugar. I had the Fig Jam Burger which has Goat Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Fig Jam, Prosciutto, and Baby Arugula on a Brioche roll. All burgers and sandwiches are served with your choice of French Fries, Onion Rings, or Cole Slaw. I chose onion rings and they were crispy. The burger was very juicy and everything had good flavor and tasted really good. My husband ordered the Rio, French Onion soup, and Surf & Turf (steak tips and baked stuffed haddock with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley). The Rio was a tropical blend of blue curacao, Novo Fogo Cachaca, banana liquor, passion fruit and orange juice and it came with a Brazilian flag. He enjoyed everything. Ate here with my son yesterday. We both had burgers, I had a build a burger with cheese while he had the one with onion strings. I've always really liked the food here but yesterday was apparently an off day as both burgers were cooked well beyond the "medium"'we requested. The sweet potato fries were a tiny order with mostly odd looking end pieces. Finally, the lack of any condiments was the kicker. Ketchup is pumped out into a small metal cup and there was no mayo, mustard or bbq sauce offered. So the overdone burgers were also dry. Not a good day for this usually strong pub. 2nd disappointing visit. The restaurant is a fine establishment. The service again on this 2nd visit is questionable. Ordered beer fine. Then fish tacos / onion rings and slaw. Slaw is out in a few minutes. 20 mins manager must have asked her if I received meal. Her answer No. 5 mins my food is ready. No onion rings, fries. That won't kill me. But everything is cold. First time here and it was delicious. Hubby and I both got the chicken parm sandwhich and wow, is this thing stacked! Chicken was tender and delicious, the batter is light and the sauce has a nice tang to it. The fries were yummy too. We started with the toasted raviolis and they were delicious and they give you quite a few. I had the special, strawberry jalapeño martini and it had a gentle heat that was super interesting, I would definitely get it again if it's still around. For dessert we split the crème brûlée and that didn't disappoint either. Service was friendly and very fast, we were eating our main entrees in about 20 minutes of being seated. On 12/4/2015 I met a retired work friend at wells....We are both retired......The restaurant experience started off great and got increasingly better. Wellys itself has positive ambience that is exceptional. The place was clean and properly organized .. The server ( whose name escapes me ) was professionally friendly with a large dose of charm.. a very nice woman......The food itself great with the potato skins being the best Ive ever had. consider that I am part Polish I am considered a potato conneseaur .....both meals were great. I bought home half of mine which was a turkey sandwich and potato skins. The price was fair.....Wellys is a great place with this being my second time being there. Lively bar/restaurant! Found ourselves in Marlborough, what a nice town! This place was jumping but we got in just in time. Sat at the bar, really nice servers all around. Good house beers on tap. And Coke products! He got the special - haddock risotto which was delicious with a nice piece of fish. I got the chicken broccoli ziti which was good but the sauce needed more flavor. Calamari was boring but the marinara that came out with it was spectacular, homemade they said and super fresh. read more

Fabulous!!! Our bartender Leticia was attentive and greeted us with kindness even though we arrived just before they were closing. I didn't get a picture of it but my husband had the steak tips and they were phenomenal. My headache was fantastic and they were able to prepare everything without garlic because I have an aversion. That was no problem for them because they have scratch kitchen. We're in the Marlborough area we will be back. So good! read more

Everything tasted good, the waiter was super nice, and service time slightly faster than average, however everything they brought out was a little bit to hot. I'm sad to say I had a pretty bad experience here last night, and the previous time I went & both were because of the manager. so I won't be returning to this location. Picked this place at random off of Yelp, very happy I did. Nothing special about the ambiance, but the menu and food were WOW! Bacon chicken wrap "wrap and veggies were fresh, bacon and chicken were perfectly cooked"; Mediterranean salad looked awesome but my companion was too busy devouring every last bite to comment. I had the taco salad with shrimp. Shrimp were tender, fresh and cooked perfectly. Fresh veggies and tortilla points. We barely left a crumb but had to go for dessert to see if it was comparable to the entrees. Answer is yes, they were. Cheesecake, lava cake and the "special" lemon cookie cake put the meal over the top. And to top all of this off, our server Thayane was perfect, attentive, pleasant and knew when we needed refills. After an afternoon of wine tasting at a local winery, we stopped for lunch today after seeing this on local foodie show (months ago) "The Phantom Gourmet". We were not disappointed. Seeing that the chicken Parm is highly recommended from the show, hubby tried the chicken Parm sandwich (served with fries on a nicely toasted roll for $14.50). He was not disappointed and had to take half home. I was debating between the vegetable stir fry or the special of a chicken caprese sandwich. I asked our server and she suggested the caprese sandwich. It was served on Naan bread with fries. The grilled chicken was nice and moist, topped with basil, fresh tomato and a creamy mozzarella. Not being from the local area and crossing our fingers on the recommendation from a "foodie show" we were not disappointed at all. It's easily accessible from route 495, which is a plus. Parking on Main Street was free for 2 hours. If in the area again, we would definitely stop in. read more

I retired from my most current job yesterday after a wonderful four years at a Staples store. My boss is terrific but it was time to go. My love took me to Welly's in Marlboro for a celebratory supper. We were greeted outside and seated immediately. Yanni, a most pleasant server also greeted us immediately. I ordered a perfect Manhattan while my Irene had a glass of Riesling. Their seasonal menu featured chicken Parmesan which she had. It came perfectly cooked. I opted for the spicy cashew shrimp with a generous scoop of jasmine rice. OUTSTANDING! For dessert, Irene and I shared the chocolate lava cake. The past chef must go to chocolate drizzle school. Such a nice place, I've been here multiple times and have yet to be disappointed. It's not a fancy restaurant but it's great if you want to just meet up with some friends for a quick bite. Finally, a restaurant that puts sliders in the mains section. They were so good and the caramelized onions literally so perfect, it was more like a sauce. I also appreciate that this a pub and restaurant but they put in the extra effort to portion ketchup in ramekins which I think is respectful of ketchup as the dipping sauce that deserves it's equity; Welly's gets it. I also never recall being disturbed by the essential check-in of the waitstaff. Our server was extremely attentive but never a disturbance; I had a few sodas and I never had to ask - big hug. I appreciate the fact that the place was disabled friendly, had comfortable dining ambience and a diverse crowd of all ages so it's clearly a welcoming establishment. I'll be back round soon. The only bummer was my fries were not as hot as I normally like them, but it happens. read more

Three big stars for the food. We all enjoyed our meals from beginning to end. We had three different kinds of soup to start. All were piping hot and flavorful, and the meaty soups had more than enough meat (something not every restaurant manages). Three different entrees, two of which (fish & chips and a braised short rib special) were A++ delicious. The third (a salmon with balsamic) was good, but nothing super-special. Desserts were also good. Chocolate lava cake was warm, arrived with a big dome of vanilla ice cream on top, and garnished with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. The creme brulee was a bit disappointing, because the custard under the sugar crust was too runny, meaning that whenever we tried to break through the crust, the custard spurted up at us like a clam shooting water out of its siphon. Two huge stars OFF for the ambience. In other words, get the food to go, and you should be all right. Eat in, and (if you're anything like us) you won't be happy. Our table was set with filthy flatware. Not spotty, filthy. Service was hit-and-miss, with our server never coming back at all to check with us after dropping the entrees. Oh, and by the way, the entree plates remained on the table, uncleared, when our desserts showed up, so we had to hold the dirty plates in our hands while the (second, replacement) server put the desserts down. She was then good enough to take the entree dishes away, finally. Music is really, really loud. I guess the staff has tuned it out. And the playlist was an odd one, apparently geared to 68-year-olds, and to them only. All songs were from 1967 - 1976 or so. On a very cold night, the ceiling fans were going full blast; we had to ask to have them turned off. If you sit anywhere near one of their multiple doors, you will be bombarded by cold air every time someone enters or leaves. If you must dine in, ask to sit as far away from the doors as possible. Finally, and this is one of my pet peeves about ANY restaurant... televisions... huge, honking, jumbotron-sized screens in ever single room of the place (not just in the bar). This means that either you or the folks across from you will be constantly distracted from conversation by the football game, or the news, or the endless commercials. Can't we have one place where we don't have to look at screens? Rant over. read more

This restaurant is getting a mixed review. First off, the place is very quaint. The atmosphere is inviting, and the added winter decorations give this stylish pub a festive welcoming appeal. Second, the food choices.are phenomenal, and Welly's offers a wide variety of items, begging you to come back again and again. The beverage options are also fantastic - I wanted to order more, but opted for just one this time around. However, this is where the pleasantries end. The waitress that served us this afternoon failed on so many levels. 1) once we were seated, she didn't even recognize us nor, say she'd be right with us 2) after coming over she never introduced herself, nor asked if we'd been there before, nor offered any suggestions 3) she was slow to even come and take our subsequent orders (perhaps she was overwhelmed, but there seemed to be ample help around the bar) 4) the steak bites we ordered were overcooked (not her fault, but still, I don't recall her asking how the food was once we started eating) I know wait staff don't get paid a high amount, but service is service. You're there to do a job, and the tip one leaves should reflect the quality of service. Yes, the receipt suggested a tip amount (18-20%). But, I believe, that if service is lackluster then the tip amount dimishes. So, when I added up the negatives, I left a 15% tip instead. Maybe I'm wrong in doing so,because they could tip-share, but it's not know of that's what they do, so I could only base my tip on the service. so, when we were getting our coats on, I noticed the waitress walk by and heard her mutter "wow" as she strolled by. I knew immediately what it was in reference to (the tip)! That's so disrespectful! Tip is based on service, perhaps if she'd been more friendly, the tip would have been better. But her muttered comment just solidifies the tip she received. No one in service should just expect a certain tip, it's still got to be earned. And she didn't earn the better tip. it's customer service like this that reduces our likelihood of returning, despite all the other positives. read more
