It was a first visit there for my husband, son and fiancé. The atmosphere was nice. Our server/ bartender was very personable and attentive despite how pretty busy she got. I think everyone liked their food. I know i loved my dish! It was wild mushroom ravioli with ground sausage and vodka sauce. It wS extremely tasty and i was thankful to have some leftover for another meal. The drinks had by all were great. My husband and i will definitely return. My husband and I went here for our 10 year anniversary! The food here is delicious and they have a good variety of gluten free items to choose from. I got the Frutii De Mare and it was spectacular! The gf homemade pasta was perfect! My husband got the shrimp special and it was equally delicious! The drinks were very tasty and we enjoyed our martinis! Our server was great! Given the questionable parking area and non-assuming exterior, I was lowering my expectations as I walked into the restaurant. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the interior. It had a welcoming look and feel. The music left a bit to be desired but all things considered it seemed like a place to sit and dine. However, I took my order to go. The meal was hit and miss. The shrimp with caramelized onions had a fantastic flavor. The noodles were a bit tough in spots but overall it was delicious. The BBQ bourbon meatloaf, however, left much to be desired. The sauce was solid but the meatloaf tasted bland and processed. The mashed potatoes were also quite bland and stiff. The mussels were also average at best. I might go back to sit at the bar and have shrimp and a drink, but otherwise Joey doesn't make my Woo Favorites list. read more

Calling Gordon Ramsay! Tastes like the food has been frozen for decades. Chicken Frangelico was ineddible-chewy, horrendous flavor. (Previously got the Calmari and it was inedible and chewy). It also takes forever to get a drink. I felt like I was being interrogated by the police when the waitress asked why I didn't like my meal. Had to answer all sorts of questions about what food I like and they compared themselves to the Sole Proprietor HAH! We did get a 25.00 gift card but it wasn't worth the hoops we jumped through. We will be giving it away as a gift but there is no way we are stepping place In this place again! The best way to make this place better is one of or all the following ways: new chef, new staff, new manager, fresh food, or close your doors down for good! My wife and I keep going back every nine months or so to see if things have changed. Get there, spots at bar (our preference) are open, so we sit down. 15 minutes later we walk out. Finally had a chance to try Joeys. If I could describe this place in one word it would be : interesting. We sat at the bar and had a pumpkin Martini for starters and it was delicious. Our bartender was very nice to us and attentive. We had a second bartender that will come sometimes to check on us as well. We ordered some food and started with a clam chowder and a french onion, they were pretty good. For entrees we had chicken frangelico and a chicken waffle sandwich. The food was 7/10, it was pretty good! The reason I say interesting though is because of the ambiance. As we were waiting for our food we noticed that one of the bartenders pulls out this hand written "special menu" for another group next to us. They did this for the people that you could tell were regulars. To be honest, this just made us feel weird and not welcomed in here. If there are some specials, I believe the right thing to do would be to read it to all of your customers, not just who you prefer to. We were never given the option to order any of these special items. The food was pretty good but I don't think I would go back. I didn't feel very welcomed. We had also tried to come in here a couple months ago and got the same vibe, we tried to put our names down to wait for a table and people would just show up that the staff would know and let them in first. Ordered a burger with onion rings & carrot cake to go on Saturday night, an hr before closing. I got there at the quotes time & my food was ready & sitting on the counter. I paid by credit card & gave a greater than 20% tip (yea I know some people think there shouldn't be one since I didn't sign in & they didn't wait on me). The hostess Sharon & I spoke for about 5mins about desserts. I live less than 5mins away & went right home. I dove right into the 6ish onion rings (now skinnier that before), they were lukewarm, had a heavy type batter & chewy. I thought I'd be able to force down the rest with my burger (which was still warm & made right), but all I could eat was 1 more. I tried a spoon of carrot cake (DEFINITELY not Bean Counter quality!). Since it was close to closing I sent my observations regarding the onion rings via FB Messenger. To my surprise Sharon answered & said "I'm so sorry you were disappointed. Unfortunately, onion rings or anything fried doesn't travel well & we spent a good 10mins after the food came out the kitchen so that may be why they were lukewarm & chewy. I hope the carrot cake was good! We love On The Rise!! Thanks for the feedback have a good Sunday!!! " I corrected her & let her know it was about 5mins & as I stated before...they were not the same onion rings I've had there before. I also told her I liked Bean Counter's carrot cake better. She never replied back that night or on Monday. On Tues, I went to Bean Counter for some real great tasting carrot cake & ask the cashier why they don't sell it to the restaurants anymore? She said they still are as far as she's aware. I told her that the hostess at Joe's Bar & Grill told me that "they no longer get it from Bean Counter because they stopped selling wholesale. They don't know why. But now we get it from On the Rise & it's just as good." Whelp, again the cashier told me that they are in fact taking orders from establishments. So Sharon, sounds to me like you weren't being entirely truthful & it's a shame that Joe's charges $9.50 for a smaller piece of cake that doesn't even hold a candle!!! But not to worry because that was my last time stepping foot in this restaurant!!! We ordered pasta and meatballs, clam chowder, Caesar Salad, a chicken appetizer and a braised beef dish, finished by a slice of cake. Service was prompt and professional throughout our stay. I have to give kudos to my co-worker Matt. This place reminds of the speak-easy in Marco Florida. If I was t looking hard to find it I would have missed it completely. It sits back in a mall type area. Unassuming entrance, but very nice and comfy inside. Waitress was very attentive and funny, assisting my wife with which drinks to have. We started with the calamari, which was lightly breaded and tasty. The size of the appetizer should have warned us about the portion sizes. My wife had the veal parmigiana, which was big enough for two and a homemade pasta, that's was really good. I had the French onion burger. It was perfectly cooked, topped with bacon and melted cheese, a side of French onion soup to dip it in made it perfect. A giant side of house made French fries, and I was stuffed. Easily my favorite restaurant in the Worcester area. The owner Erica is so friendly as well as all of the other staff. We have been 5 times in the last few months and I have tried something different each time and have been blown away. You can tell they make everything in house and fresh to order. This is the place I have missed most during the pandemic. Their Big Chill martini cannot be replicated: believe me, I've tried. It's always a good idea to try the specials here; they are unfailingly delicious. The owners Joey and Erikka do a great job of making everyone feel welcome, and their loyal staff has been there for many years. Parking in the parking lot at Joeys I wasn't so impressed. I thought it was going to be a little hole in the wall however, when the doors were opened it was five times bigger than I imagined; bustling and full of happy people. The four of us sat down and were greeted by the best waitress I've ever had. I believe her name is Shana. We spent three hours at the restaurant devouring absolutely phenomenal food. We started off with a special appetizer which was a tuna sushi; out of this world. We ate chicken frangelico, short ribs, Atlantic salmon and a burger special. We were all so impressed with our food. Because it took a long time to get our food due to a large party that arrived late, We received free desserts. Shana was so funny and kind and the manager was just as great. For our first experience I know we will be back many many times. read more

First visit last night with a reservation for two. After a 15 minute wait, a walk-in that arrived after us was seated in a nice booth before we were seated at a tiny table- so terrible Ahi Tuna was good (7/10). Calamari was terribly over cooked and only redeemed with the chopped tomato and onions that accompany it on the plate (3/10). Frutti di Mare was SO disappointing. Mussels, shrimp, calamari and fish. No clams or scallops. Shrimps were still grey Sauce/broth it was served in reminded me of macaroni&bean soup broth but with no flavor. They attempt to make up for EVERYTHING lacking in this dish by dropping a large piece of battered fish on top. This was by far the worst Frutti di Mare I have ever had! (1/10) Chicken Picatta was completely submerged in a thin broth with an overwhelming lemon flavor. Rather than one or two larger pieces, the dish included a number of small chicken chunks. This dish traditionally does not typically have yellow peppers- but theirs did- which did not compliment the plate whatsoever (3/10) A red flag to me was that this menu includes traditional Italian dishes BUT also includes typical pub food like burgers I eat out frequently. I am Italian and know good, traditional Italian food. This restaurant is not the place to go to get it!! There are only a couple of places I would recommend for Italian in the city and this will never be one! So PLEASE if you actually know good food- save yourself the time and the money and avoid Joeys! read more

Joey's is something of a West side institution. Despite the dated interior (I'd guess early 2000s) and the fact that they don't really do small plates or farm to table, Joey's appears to still be thriving. The menu has a little bit of everything: burgers, steak, pasta, tacos etc. The beer selection is almost nonexistent, but the have Be Hoppy and its less than $6. I ordered a burger with bleu cheese and fried onions. It was ordered and served medium rare, on a bun that held up through the whole experience. Be warned, these are 8oz monsters. Not the best burger in the city, but I would definitely eat this again. The sweet potato fries are also pretty good. My wife got eggplant napoleon (eggplant parm w/sausage) and it actually came with fresh pasta. It's not quite as good as homemade, but will satisfy the craving for far less work. read more

This is a fun place tucked away with some really good food! I'm surprised this was my first time here after having liven in the neighborhood for 20+ years. I sat at the bar and was given great service. A couple draft beers and the fish tacos were my intake. The tacos were good and hefty for the price. I always will prefer grilled or blackened fish to deep fried fish when it comes to tacos. Joe's does deep fried, but I enjoyed them and great service made it even more enjoyable. read more

The lighting was well balanced throughout the restaurant and very dining friendly...low but not Icantseeyou low. The bar was huge and not a chair was empty. It felt like it was going to be a great night here! Now let's talk food...scrumptious, sumptuous, full-of-flavor with enough to take home for another meal kind of food. Each person in our party had nothing but praise for each of their orders. We ordered 3 apps and each one was amazing. Please try the Chicken Frangelica with butternut squash ravioli, oh.my.god!!! it was one of the best dishes I've had in a long time! OH! and don't forget to try the lobster rangoon for an app! *swoon* The staff was fantastic!! Professional but so friendly! Smiles whenever she came to our table, always helpful and never rushed even though it was packed. The entrees were piping hot and Joey himself served them as he did with the apps. Love that! We had chosen this restaurant for our Christmas party.
