I was driving through town and my husband specifically wanted a wood fired pizza and this place delivered! We ordered online and got the tomato soup, arancini, rucola salad, pepperoni pizza and Volturno pizza. The food was ready for to-go when we arrived and the front of the house staff were friendly. The space was open and clean and hip. I'd definitely return to eat in. The food was delicious! I will say the pizzas were smaller than expected, like size of a typical small. Next time I'd order a 3rd to feed our family.
Loved and raved by the locals this pizza joint is a must try. Mondays and Tuesdays are buy one get one free pizza , you can mixed and match the pizza offering they have. Pizza come if fresh and hot from their proprietary oven pizza which creates the neopolitan Italian style pizza. Fluffy charred crispy crust texture and warm melted cheeses , sauce and meats all together in nice flavor profile and texture. They also have other dish Offerings such as sandwiches, burgers and Italian pastas. Would love to come try next time.
I cannot say enough good things about Volturno! To start, the restaurant kindly accommodated my 8-person group during the busy Monday/Tuesday BOGO pizza deal, and allowed ample time for our group to arrive and order. Our waitress was kind, gave excellent recommendations, and checked in with us an appropriate amount. When we began ordering, I noticed Volturno has an excellent array of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. I personally got the "pear pressure," which was a delicious pear spritz. For appetizers, my group found the arancini and the brussels sprouts to be a hit. Lastly, I tried eight pizzas due to the BOGO deal, and all of the choices were excellent; however, I will always be a tried-and-true pepperoni person (which was yummy). Overall, I would highly recommend anyone try Volturno, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays during the BOGO deal. It was an excellent restaurant to dine at with friends, and I would definitely return.
Fantastic experience, food and service were amazing, great atmosphere. However, be cautious of the "suggested gratuity" at the bottom of the check. The suggested 20% gratuity for a check of 87.21 was listed as 20.70. Not too much of a big deal, but it was 3 dollars more than it shook be. The actual 20% should be 17.44. Hard to give a full 5 star review for this.
on a monday night, i was in the mood for a small bite and a cocktail, so we decided to try volturno after hearing great recommendations. we sat at the bar, and for our drinks, i tried a bartenders choice, which was a paloma with tequila, while my date tried their 'was up, b?' (my second choice). i really enjoyed both drinks, and i preferred the was up, b? i also tried their kiwi krush, which was absolutely delicious, with a very strong house-made jalapeño infused tequila. the drinks here are great! for food, we tried their burrata which had such a unique, delicious assortment of focaccia, burrata, nuts, roasted grapes, balsamic vinegar, prosciutto, and arugula. everything paired very well. then we tried their margherita pizza with garlic aioli on the side. the pizza was great, i would have preferred a bit more basil, but it was cooked perfectly. i would try a different dipping sauce for the crust. our bartender suggested we get a second pizza for their monday & tuesday bogo special, and we took the eggplant pizza home and it was also great the next day. paloma 8.5/10 was up, b? 10/10 kiwi krush 10/10 burrata 10/10 margherita pizza 9.6/10 eggplant pizza 8.6/10 really pleased with our first visit here, from the vibes to the service to the food, and especially the drinks. all 3 bartenders (didn't catch their names) were attentive and helpful. ambiance: 4.8/5 food: 4.7/5 drinks: 4.8/5 service: 5/5 volturno: 4.8/5
We made a second visit to Volturno recently to have a try at some of their other options. We arrived early on a Saturday evening (about 4:30) and there was a line to wait for a table so we opted to sit at the bar. We decided to have drinks and appetizers. We ordered a pepperoni pizza (they are small), bruschetta and brussel sprouts. My husband had a beer and my drink was called Love Potion. We also got dessert, he ordered the Tiramisu (it was delicious) and I ordered the cheesecake (I didn't care for the thick graham cracker bottom, but the cheesecake part was very good). Everything was very good and our bar servers were excellent.
Life is short. F.....it up! FAMILY, Flavor, Friends Had this place on my list to visit I finally got the come. Great environment nice bar view of the kitchen and pizza bar. Pasta, dough, and mozzarella is all made in House. Met the head chef for theb tour of the kitchen. Staff is very friendly great place to get together with friends. All the food is very fresh and tasty . A must visit when in Worcester.
Great spot for pizza! Our waitress was very friendly and made a great recommendation to add hot honey to our pepperoni pizza - what a game-changer! Caesar salad came lightly dressed - exactly how we like it. Even the Diet Coke was perfectly crisp and syrupy. The crust is on the thicker/fluffier side- I tend to like a crispier pizza, so deducting 1 star for this. Special thanks to our waitress for the hot honey suggestion. Would definitely order this combination again
Great waitress, great food, great ambiance. The pizza was amazing, the pollo e pesto was to die for. So light, airy, and flavorful. I want to come back to try their other dishes. We also had the bartender surprise us with drinks, and he made really fruity, delicious concoctions.

It had been a while since I came back to Shrewsbury Street in Worcester but here I was. It was lunch and my son and I wanted pizza. I remember two of my children going to school out in Worcester and many visits to Volturno. Where else would I go in Worcester for pizza but here. We walk in to high ceilings, large windows and clean polished woodwork. Like a restaurant in a museum. The server Abby, was great. Attentive knowledgable and passionate about her restaurant. So- I wanted broccoli rabe and sausage sandwich. That was gone from the menu. Abby convinced me to try the Amatriciana pasta. It was amazing. Total shocker. It was as good as my favorite North End Spots. Why 5 stars- The excitement around the food creations. Quality and authentic Italy. The thing that caught me was the place still looked brand new. It wasn't a sign of a restaurant that had been there running out the course. This place was alive. I will be back. read more
It was Tuesday, and 5 p.m. was soon approaching. We weren't far from Shrewsbury Street in Worcester, so there really wasn't a decision to make. Two-for-Tuesday at Volturno! With the rain and wind outside, we hoped the restaurant might be a little quieter than usual. That thought disappeared the moment we turned into the parking lot. We grabbed the first open space we saw and headed for the door. Score! We snagged the last window table just as another party was leaving. Choosing the first pizza was easy. Their Polpette (meatball) pizza has long been my perennial favorite. Since it was Two-for-Tuesday, though, we decided to branch out and try their Eggplant Pizza as our second pie. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Waters appeared almost immediately, and despite the restaurant already bustling, both pizzas arrived surprisingly quickly. Perhaps that's because Volturno bakes its Neapolitan-style pizzas in a 900° wood-fired oven using dried oak, where they cook in just 60 to 90 seconds. Both pizzas arrived piping hot with tasty thin crusts and were cooked perfectly. There was just one problem--the Eggplant Pizza was so good that it ended in a dead heat with my preferred Polpette. That's high praise. More than half a pizza came home with us, but little was left by the end of the night. If you haven't tried Volturno you're missing out on some great pizza, whether it's Tuesday or any other day of the week. read more

Shrewsbury Street is the location for food. The place has parking, seating was quick in the outdoor area. Two for 1 Pizza's on Monday's and Tuesday's. Tried the Tre Porcellini house-made fennel pork sausage, bacon, soppressata, mozzarella, san marzano sugo Basically the meat pizza Very delicious, needed a little more sauce. Bianca fried egg, ricotta, mozzarella, garlic confit, caramelized onion, scallion, chili flake The chilli flake, can be a hit or miss. Very tasty with the egg drop. But not as delicious as I was expecting again a little dry on the sauce. Tried both the white and red Sangria. Nothing special the red was a little dry, really didn't taste like much. Disappointing for the rating on Google. read more

Hands down one of the best brick oven pizzas in central MA. If you're looking for a nice night out for a date or get together with good company--they have a great dine in space. They also have a function room if you're looking to hold a party. I haven't been here in awhile but on Monday and Tuesday they do BOGO for their pizzas. This is the perfect time to try all sorts of pies. Restaurant also has ample parking on the side and a nice patio. read more

One of my favorite pizza experiences in Worcester, they had a good 2 pizzas for one deal on weekdays at one point not sure if they still have that. Regardless the pizzas are delicious the ingredients have a lot of effort put into them and the way they cook them in the oven is very good! They've been able to accommodate myself and large group of coworkers very well, the service always does well! read more

I had the chance to try out Volturno's function space adjacent to the restaurant area for my organization's Christmas party in January. I would recommend it for intimate parties of 40 or less but I believe their max limit is higher than that amount. It's a clean, warm, pretty, and intimate establishment. I enjoyed their decor of the rack of wine and a poster on types of pastas. The food tasted great, I would say an overall rating of 8.5/10. The apps were great, I tried Focaccia for the first time and was surprised at how soft yet crunchy the bread is and paired with ricotta, a beautiful savory taste. My only poor experience with the food service was the tiramisu, it was quite bitter from the coffee and had soggy finger lady's . The servers were attentive and timely when setting up our food, serving drinks, and waiting the tables. read more

Food - excellent. Drinks - excellent. Service - excellent. Atmosphere - excellent. We go here roughly twice a month, you can't find better pizza in the area, it's honestly so good. The cocktail menu changes seasonally and is always really fun and inventive. The pasta is also super delicious, they make it all in house and the sauces are all super fresh and tasty. read more
Starting off this review by saying Jackie is the absolute best, she always takes care of us when we go there :) Volturnos has such great pizza, drinks, appetizers, pasta dishes, you name it, they got it! Definitely a huge staple of Shrewsbury St. Perfect place for a girls night out, a casual dinner, a first date, a celebration, all occasions. To know Worcester, is to know Volturnos. Would actually give our overall experience at Volturno a 4.25/4.5. The food was truly delicious and deserves a 5. We ordered the Beet & Mozzarella, Roasted Cauliflower, Funghi Pizza, and the Capri Pizza. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. The capri pizza had a garlic sauce that was perfectly balanced and the roasted cauliflower laid on a layer of fresh pesto. My reason for a reduced star was not because of the food, it is due to the service. Thomas the owner was incredibly sweet and polite. He even came to our table to apologize for the mix up in our food. Our server unfortunately. didn't come by very often and when she did, would forget to bring something or another. read more

Volturno offers delicious gluten-free pasta, available upon request. Unfortunately, Volturno cannot accommodate gluten-free pizzas, due to the dough.
Is there still 2 for 1 pizza on Tuesdays?
As far as I know, based on my friend who was planning to do that tonight!
Did the restaurant close? Number is no longer in service and the website is down. Too bad, if so! Pizza was delish.
