First time trying the Rapscallion , and it was a great experience! I originally made a reservation online for 8 people at 8 PM since that was the only dinner time available, but after calling the restaurant, the staff was kind enough to help us switch to an earlier time. We started with beer flight which was fantastic -- a great way to try different flavors, and we loved every choice. For appetizers, we ordered the Mediterranean hummus nachos, shrimp bites, and spicy mussels. Our entrées included the chicken à la limone, cioppino, and shrimp scampi, and everything was surprisingly delicious. The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy, comfortable, and relaxing. We all enjoyed it for the girls' night. I still can't figure out why a place like this chose to open in a Price Chopper shopping plaza in a town like this -- the location just feels odd and lacks any atmosphere before you even walk in. Inside, the dining room is far too open, and the noise bounces off the walls to the point where it gets distracting and loud fast. The menu is fine if you want basic pub food -- burgers, sandwiches, and the usual bar-style options -- but nothing really stands out or feels memorable. They do have a solid cocktail and beer selection, but that alone doesn't carry the experience. Service was noticeably slow, and by the time we left after paying a pretty hefty bill, the overall feeling was mostly: "Why does this place exist here?" It's not terrible, but definitely not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to or recommend. read more

Went here for lunch over the weekend. We were the only patrons inside.. so the service was fast and our waitress was great. Food is subpar at best, the steak and cheese tastes like jersey mikes and it is tiny. The tuna BLT is good. The fries are frozen and not great. The food here was so delicious!! We ended up getting like 4 appetizers because everything looked so good and we were not disappointed! The calamari and the tuna sliders were probably my favorites. Service was super attentive and friendly, even got to meet the owner! Finished our meal with desserts, which we ordered root beer floats made with their own homemade root beer! My husband and I enjoyed our lunch at Rapscallion. There are plenty of tables and TVs at the bar if you want to watch some sports while you're there. The chicken minestrone was decent and warmed us up on a freezing day. The cauliflower appetizer was a bit disappointing, as we were expecting a breaded and fried cauliflower, but it's more so roasted with bread crumbs. The bartenders were friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. Overall, Rapscallion is a great addition to the Upton/Hopkinton area. read more

Weird location - seems like this type of restaurant belongs - I don't know, somewhere else. Not in a "strip" mall area. I would never notice it there and I think that's a negative for them (not for our experience). Sat at the bar and just had a couple of drinks. Why? The menu just didn't grab us. Prices are high for what it is. And yes, prices are high EVERYWHERE but I didn't notice any food coming out that had a "wow" factor for presentation (maybe taste? I don't know). But nothing had a large portion or looked particularly overwhelming for the prices. So we had drinks and they were GOOD. A+ for beverages. And a solid A++ for service as the two bartenders were delightful, attentive, personable and just great. SO ... I think service here is probably top notch. Menu just didn't do it for us so we went and ate somewhere else. Disappointing since it's not far from us and would be a nice change from our other "regular" spots. read more

Rapscallion operates several restaurants and brewpubs in Eastern MA including Acton, Spencer, Sturbridge, and Lawrence (brick oven pizza). The atmosphere inside is s bit noisy with conversations echoing in the main dining area with full service bar. There is seating at the bar, table seating and church pew seating along the wall. There are 3 flatscreen TVs near the bar. There is also a smaller back dining room. There is also outside patio seating too. The food menu offerings include a selection of appetizers, flatbreads, salads, handhelds, pasta, meat, poultry, seafood, gluten free selections and vegetarian dishes, and desserts. The pricing is moderate high. At the bar, they offer 15 Rapscallion beers on draught, wines, mixed drinks, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks. Beer flights are offered. On the way home from RI, I stopped off at Rapscallion in Hopkinton for dinner. I headed to the bar and topk a seat. The bar was busy and there were ample open tables on a Wednesday evening. I was given a laminated menu and requested an ice water. I placed my food order for a starter and entree. The Rapscallion Mussels ($18 plus tax) came out first, which were comprised of 22 sauteed mussels with shallots, butter & garlic, parsley with cherry tomatoes in a spicy dijon "sauce" no broth, 2 crostinis included. The mussels were very small and the flavors very salty and spicy. For an entree, the Penne a la Vodka ($25 plus tax) had al dente penne tossed with sauteed chicken, asparagus, mushrooms, & marinara light cream sauce, topped with parsley & shaved parmesan, crostini included. The portion was decent which wasn't too rich and the chicken very tender, mushrooms soft, and asparagus crunchy. I finished my food and passed on dessert. The check was $46.01 with tax and before tip. Overall, I have a mixed take on the meal. The mussels were not great and pasta dish was nicely prepared. I decided not to get dessert since I was already going out for ice cream after. Other customers enjoyed their fried calamari and hummus nachos. So I've been here a few times and here's what my experience has been. Service is great, atmosphere is pleasant. The beer is ok. I'd give the beer a 2.5 out of 5. The food has been disappointing. First time steak frites I had to send back as the steak was tough, gray and unappetizing. They replaced it with a hot burger which was pretty good. But.... Last time I went there me and my buddy had a burger... slow night. It came out cold and not very good. read more

I loved the menu and services. My bf has a gluten free allergy so I tried to find the restaurant that offerers GF menu. The menu also has Gl sign that it is a regular menu but it can also make it as GF. We have mentioned our server that he has gf allergy when she brought water at the table but forgot to tell her again the all order had to be GF. When the dish arrived, he saw a bread. He was going to just relive it since we did not specify when we placed order for appetizer and entre but she did remember it! Also my bf has some light sensitivity at the table, they kindly showed me the tables that they can offer us. The little thing like this makes a big difference of dining experience. So this should be listed as a Brewery restaurant, tried a flight and loved 3 out of 4, can't recall last time that happened at a brewery. Food was great as was service and atmosphere. With our old favorite closed (Sorrento in milford) happy to have a new place. Must try! read more

Update to my previous post. Soundproofing was done. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but you could tell the noise was being absorbed. The food was good. The bolognese portion was more inline with other restaurants. The server, who was pleasant was able to substitute penne for the spaghetti. It had a nice flavor, but it was still "thin" on meat. One in our party added a piece of salmon to her salad, which one at our table that eats salmon quite often, said it was the worst piece she ever had - smelly and gamey. It did smell and shouldn't have made it to the table. The server gladly replaced it with a veggie burger. The server came out later commenting that they get fish deliveries 3 times a week and it should have been good. That's great but it doesn't change the outcome and really didn't need to be said. The other two dishes were good. The appropriate adjustments were made to the bill and the server did comp some items. read more

Have been here several times and have enjoyed it; recently ordered the pasta bolognese. Very disappointed-$25 for about .50 cents of pasta and maybe $1.00 worth of sauce with very little meat. Will have second thoughts on returning. read more

We are local and very excited to have a place like Rapscallion in town. So we wish them the best! But we think they may still be trying to figure out who/what they are. Are they a beer hall? A local/grill/pub? The prices are not cheap (nothing is, I guess, these days) but the menu is a little all over the place. As the vibe seems more beer hall, they could benefit from some more low-key apps (pretzels? German food? popcorn?), and maybe more comfort food type dishes. What we have tried so far have been good: mussels, burger, steak + cheese sandwich. Their take on nachos (hummus, etc.) is interesting and yummy. They have lots of gluten free options, which is a big plus and not always easy to find. We've had good, friendly service. But the prices are a bit high for this kind of place. They are also in desperate need of noise mitigation: this place is LOUD even when not completely full (maybe add some rugs or acoustic baffles or acoustic panels somehow?). They did deal with their light issue (it was way too bright) and now have nice lamps on tables. Some of the seating could be more comfy too. Again, we are fans and want them to succeed! We love that they have a full bar, as well as their own beers. It's great that they are making the back room more inviting. We can't wait to try the patio when the weather gets warmer...they are definitely worth a visit if you live in the area or are passing through. Give Rapscallion a try! read more

We loved the burger cooked perfectly and sweet potato fries were like gourmet delicious, crunchy yet soft inside. martini was ice cold. and it was pretty busy for a Monday night. Beer was decent but food was very lackluster, if the other locations are anything like this I'm not sure why they decided to expand... Burger was ok but a $22 burger should be more than ok. steak came out cold, overdone and without any evidence of the chimichurri claimed on the menu. Flatbread was a big wet sloppy mess that was inedible. For these prices, the food was not even close to average. read more

I was at Rapscallion in Hopkinton MA last night 12/4/25. This place is wonderful. It has an intimate vibe, good for date night. My server, Allison was personable, engaging and knowledgeable on the menu. If you sit in the dining section, ask for her. She's great! I hope she's always my server!
