I walked in early on a Friday as the very first patron of the day and immediately felt a cheery, welcoming atmosphere that only got livelier as the bar filled up and parties started settling outside as well to enjoy the beautiful day. Erin took great care of me at the bar attentive, warm, and on top of everything. Big compliments to the kitchen as well. I believe Melissa and Paul were running the show back there, and my corned beef Reuben was incredible. The real star? That fresh, delicious rye bread--it made the whole sandwich. Onion rings were a great choice too nice and crispy battered type. I'm already looking forward to coming back soon for more cocktails and working my way through the menu, especially with those new weekly specials dropping every Wednesday. read more

Horrible Place; Standard Policy: Only cash , no table service, order food & drinks at the Bar , Seating Outside to eat your food after they walk it out to you! OR order-to-go AT the Bar with Credit Card; Seating Outside while you wait on your Order they bring out to you BUT you can't Sit & Eat Food quality not worth it ! Not very Friendly for Outsiders! read more

Great local pub. Good pour of Guinness and fairly priced food. Usually an active local crowd, so if the bar is full I love to sit outside.

Ordered the steak and cheese panini for takeout. It was quite delicious. However it was more of a pita break not panini. read more

If your not a local, be prepared to wait over 20 mins for a drink at the bar, or longer. One bartender who was in space. Couldn't multitask. She would take an order then get extremely side tracked and talk. I only order a beer... took way to long and wasnt acknowledged at all! Cash only. My friends also ordered food... took over an hour.. Will not be back!!! read more

Always a great experience at Cornell's. It's a local dive that's welcoming and friendly. The food is very good and the bartenders are super. Great value for the buck. read more

This cash only pub has a real locals hangout vibe. No frills, food is ordered at the bar but our dinners were very good. Location is a bit off the beaten path but if in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again read more

What I liked: - A great place to watch a game - Great selection of beers on tap. - Food is reasonably priced. - Free Wi-Fi - Loads of free parking What to be aware of: - You have to order at the bar to get drinks - They only take cash, no credit cards. read more

Cornell's Irish Pub - Specials - Pubs Near Me - Hopkinton, Massachusetts

"The best bar in the world" according to a very reliable Hopkinton born and bred source. Usually go there after working in town. Very relaxed vibe. Mostly locals, not that that matter much; cash only. read more

This place has steadily gone downhill, which is unfortunate. I've had to have my food sent back because it was raw, I've often had to wait over an hour for my cold food to show up... The kitchen staff is frequently drinking which I honestly don't mind until it becomes ridiculous. On a busy night like a Thursday, you'd think they'd all hustle but there's usually just 1 bartender busting her ass trying to keep everyone served while the rest of them are hanging out back drinking. This place has a lot of potential if the owners cared a bit more and looked closely at how the establishment is run. If not, it'll just keep heading downhill as it is now, to become a dive bar reserved for a handful of regulars. read more

Didn't get food but stopped in for drinks and this place was hoppin. You can tell the food would be good just from the crowds of people that were there. Fun establishment with a hearty clientele. Definitely a dive type place but those are usually the best. Can't wait to go back read more

While visiting a friend's parents for the weekend, they took us to their regular Friday night spot - Cornell's. They love how close it is to their house and the great service they receive as regulars. I'm a fan of a dive bar, so I was excited to give the place a try. We initially sat outside because it was beautiful out. We order a round of drinks and then placed our food order shortly after. I found the service to be a bit slow, it felt like we wait an eternity for our food to arrive. In reality it was around 45 minutes. The place was not packed, so I'm not sure what the hold up was there. The food was good, especially for a dive bar! My friend and I split one of the specials - a garlic parm chicken panini. That was delicious! We also had some wings in a sauce recommended by our server - some kind of sweet and slightly spicy BBQ sauce. We went the boneless route (really just chicken tenders) while others at the table got bone-in buffalo wings. Now, the main event (for both good and bad reasons) was the cocktails. These were STRONG. I can appreciate a strong cocktail, especially for $8. I'd lean more on the side of something that tastes like a double when I comes to the amount of alcohol I want to consciously taste in my drinks. These felt like triples. Cost effective? Absolutely. Easy to drink? Not so much. I had three drinks, I started with the Watermelon Margarita which had muddled watermelon but it also had sour mix which I do not enjoy in a marg. Others at the table ordered the same and there was a lack of consistency in the taste between each one. Some were darker in color and tasted better. A few were not able to order another cocktail after this one... I went on to try the strawberry lemonade. That was MUCH more tolerable and so that is how I ended up having three cocktails. This resulted in my being very drunk and having a pretty nasty headache the next day. My friend was in the same boat, having had three cocktails and feeling bad in the morning. We eventually moved our party inside because we learned, after opening the lid of a trashcan near our table, that it was infested with mosquitos and we had released them. We were being eaten alive. The staff easily accommodated us inside and continued to provide great service. Overall, go in with the expectation that this is in fact a dive bar. But a dive bar with great food! Oh and STRONG drinks. read more

Cornell's Irish Pub - a menu on a table - Pubs Near Me - Hopkinton, Massachusetts

This is your quintessential North Eastern neighborhood tavern. A place a local walks in and the bartender makes the drink and places on the bar knowing where they are going to sit. I dig this. And the locals are very easy to chat with. They have a full well stocked bar, and some good beers on tab. Menu is okay (they seem to offer daily specials) and very reasonably priced. Couple of nice big televisions. On a Monday night - CASH only... but they do have an ATM. Kind of located by itself on 85. I will visit again the next time I'm in town. read more

I grew up in this town and this place was always the one that you went to when you didn't want to shower before going out to have a few cold ones. That part really hasn't changed - however the food is great - better than great actually. Order your food at the bar - if you can get the bartender(s) to make eye contact that is - suggest bringing a wrist full of rubber bands to shoot at her.... Jack's Abby Post Shift or the Lager are excellent with the burger - steak and cheese (panini or sub) - or the wings with the combo sauce that's so bad sounding it leaves you wanting more (buffalo with italian and parmesean cheese) Their take out is great - portions are so big you can split with a friend.... CASH ONLY MY FRIENDS..... ATM located on premesis. Give this place a try for lunch or a quick take away - you will not be disappointed. read more

Service is friendly , food is good , have parking , close to hotel and close the hwy , close the town too

Food is average for the price, ambiance - nothing exciting, neighborhood pub vibe, which I usually like, if it comes with a neighborhood hospitality. But sadly nope.. if you are not a townie, you get ignored when trying to order, food comes cold ish 40 minutes late and you pretty much need to beg for attention when trying to pay, cash only, of course. And the place wasn't even busy.. if you are looking for a warm welcome and a good customer service, try Casey's in Holliston or Ko Sushi in Hopkinton. Much friendlier and inclusive atmosphere for sure! read more

Dive-ish bar with staff who hustle, and good food. Everyone has always been friendly and inviting.

I like this place, this is my 2nd time here. I appreciate a good dive bar and this is it. The food is good, the service is good. The downside: The people who hang out here. You can't really blame a place for the people but wow, it feels like I'm in the Deep South. Lots of Trump supporting, loud mouth, Duck dynasty, red necks. 'Murica!! read more

Love dive bars with great fiod and service. Excellent steak tips and a really beautiful salad

The food is good if you can get people to take your order. Bartenders are never on the bar. They are either on there phone or in the kitchen talking to the other staff members.. if you come in the afternoon. You can bet that that the bartenders or the cooks are not in yet. But adviser, open for lunch and dinner read more

I'm a big fan of the Dive Bar, and I'm giving this place three stars because the people were really nice. Stopped in here on a rainy Sunday for a beer (and the bathroom). Would have had a couple of beers but the beer we had was horrid. We both ordered Bass and it tasted like the water was dirty or the pipes were rusty or something. Not wanting to waste beer, we drank 'em, but I wouldn't rush back. The place was fairly neat (in ambiance) for a dive bar. The had a covered outdoor area which would be nice on warmer days. The clientele (around 5 on a Sunday) were mostly in their early 50s and up and everyone was friendly and talkative. The did have a bar food menu that I didn't try anything from so I can't discuss in that review, but they really need to check their taps. Let me make it clear that if I based this review on the beer alone, I would have given it one star. read more

Love it, great scene.. No longer cash only. Would recommend if you are in the area and looking for a pub/bar atmosphere.

Heroes go there. Pizza is good, sometimes free. Buffalo chicken tenders. Not sure if they have real salad plates or bowls yet. I don't like eating salad from a styrofoam plate. Cute, Irish, lots of regulars. Can be crowded. Newish outside area. read more

Great Bar A review about a real BAR. A place where clientele go to have a good time and get drunk. Great strong drinks and cheap beers. The bartenders are great and they have food too. The bar sneaks up on you kind of in the middle of nothing in Hopkinton, Ma. We always go in when we're in the area and it's always a good time. Best part is the diner like seats around the bar. Thanks read more

Classic little Irish pub. This place is hopping. Great for Sunday football - Great people and great pizza....

Truth in advertising because I bailed when I saw the "Cash Only ATM Inside" sign on the front door even though Yelp states credit cards are accepted. A pile of crushed plastic nip bottles in the parking lot and the dilapidated appearance of the exterior of the place (can you say "Tear-down"?) was also a disincentive to venture any further. read more

Classic dive bar where everyone knows everyone. The food is very good. Our waitress was a riot. So friendly too. Lots of outdoor dining.

Kitchen has gone down hill. It used to be inventive but now it's basic and very greasy. Not impressed at all.

Unfortunately the last few times I got takeout the salad was old and rotten twice, and they burned my sandwich don't think will try again

This might be a place you would want to stay away from. I've gone here after softball games or football games for years. It seems to be infested now with VERY angry trump fans. While attacked verbally by 2 patrons (regulars...drunks)) while picking up takeout, I feared my safety. I was told "I hope you die" and other things I can't mention. Staff and owner did nothing to stop this. Simply handed ME my bill. M read more

This is a great classic road house. I was in the area and had not been in this place in 20 years. Newer owner since. Stopped in with my son for a sandwich. Clean place friendly staff - we had fried chicken sandwich and onion rings and we sat at the bar witch is a classic low boy set up . Great sandwiches and onion rings and a ice cold bottled beer. They pour good drinks from what I saw. This place is run well and not many left like this. Take a trip if you cheer nostalgia. The food the place and drinks are on point! read more

The new owners have done a nice job "sprucing it up". A new face lift has made the inside look better, better menu and same great drinks. 2 dart boards, a few TVs, a jukebox, and a popcorn machine. They have a back patio that is nice in the summer. read more

Cornells is a local bar to a small town. Its not trying to be something its not. Thus being said, Its a good bar, the owner Russ is very nice and welcoming. I visited this bar recently and I love the location. Unfortunately I really cannot recommend this place due to the subpar service and dirty facilities. The bartender, Jodi was incredibly rude (rushing my order, being aggressive and agitated, acting like she did not want to serve me) and putting her hands inside my wine glass. She then slammed my neighbor's beer on the bar and spilled it, making a really large mess. The bathroom was disgusting. I would love to give this place a shot again but after sending a message to the owners about my bad experience on facebook, I was messaged on facebook told "you are never welcome here again." Someone should tell the ownership to retrain their staff on hygiene, social media presence, and customer service. read more

Cornell's Irish Pub - New & too cute! - Pubs Near Me - Hopkinton, Massachusetts

Tonight we waited over 2 hours before we received our dinner. There was no staff, yet plenty of customers. The owner needs to hire people clearly. One woman was tending bar, doing some tables (mine), and other duties. The other woman was dedicated to waitressing. These people asked me what the problem was with a two hour wait. Seriously? If you don't know, you should not be in the restaurant business. They also only take cash, just to show how cheap they are. They won't even pay credit card fees. Instead they make money be conveniently having ATM services on-site. Again, half-ass cheap skates. Take cards, it is 2021. Although their pizza is good, even take out for that is 45 minutes minimum. They should either take their customers seriously and treat them well, or close the place. read more
