We attended a private mid-week event, and despite the size of the group, the staff seemed to do a great job having drinks and food brought out to everyone in a timely manner. The staff was courteous, professional, and friendly - this place seems to be well managed and have a good understanding of what it means to be in the hospitality industry! First of all, the warm bread and butter basket served was a great first impression. Delicious dinner rolls served hot! Our starter salads, while not large and somewhat basic, were presented nicely in modern bowls and consisted of fresh, delicate greens, a few cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes. The entrees we selected from were okay. Unfortunately, all steaks for this event were served medium, and I found mine to be less tender than my desired medium rare. Surprisingly, the naturally sweet asparagus...my first of the season...was perfect and somehow managed to upstage buttery smooth mashed potatoes and beef! Similarly, the thick toothy al dente fettuccini was the highlight of the chicken parmesan entrees, as the house-made chicken parm couldn't stand up to the chicken parm my wife makes in our house. read more

My husband and friends threw a surprise 60th birthday party for me at The Cellar tonight, New Years Eve, 2025. Evis, the owner, and every single member of the staff were absolutely INCREDIBLE! They decorated the room themselves, and the food and drinks were delicious, and they were so very attentive the entire evening. They could have rushed us to make room for more patrons on what I'm sure must be a highly sought after night, but we never once felt rushed and they made us feel so special and welcomed! Other patrons, who I suspect were friends of the restaurant, invited us to celebrate and dance with them! We've eaten at The Cellar before and loved it, and tonight just sealed the deal for us. We can't say enough good about this place. Whether you're just going out for a great evening meal or doing something special, be sure to put The Cellsr at the top of your list! We have lived nearby for years and finally tried The Cellar. It's a much brighter, more modern space than we had envisioned (for no good reason). The service was great. We started with the crispy shrimp and it was so good that we agreed that next time we might just get a bunch of those! Super fresh, perfectly cooked, unique flavors.. wow. The steak and the salmon were both cooked as requested and favorite with unique sauces. The portions were substantial, so we had some left-overs. We look forward to adding this to our local options. I want this place to be better - the food and service leave something to be desired - it's just ok.... The atmosphere is the best thing about this place. This is a really cute restaurant. The service is incredibly friendly, it felt like family. The food is really good too. We had chicken kebab and the baked stuffed haddock. Both really superb! They have good wine selection, seasonal sangria and a nice selection of classic cocktails. The patio is really pretty, but was full by the time we arrived. My visit was brief but thoroughly enjoyable. Was meeting a couple friends for drinks and then dinner elsewhere. Just let me throw in real quick, once I laid eyes on their menu I wanted to stay here. So I will be coming back to actually eat the food. We had a couple cocktails at the bar. The service at the bar was fantastic and personable. The two lady bartenders that were working were really pleasant characters. And our fellow bar patrons all really seem to be enjoying their time there. It feels like it would be a great place that just kind of hang out and have a couple of drinks and appetizers. This is so much better than the previous occupant. read more

Unfortunately I had a poor experience here. Called in a pickup order of three menu items and HOUR beforehand, and asked for it to be ready for 8pm. I show up at 8pm and still did not get my food until 8:16... I am not one to complain but this was ridiculous. The owner (i think?) came over and explained they were running behind because a large table came in, which I understand (i have worked in the food industry) but she provided a long winded explanation with ZERO apology for the food being very late. The food itself was okay...chicken tenders were dry and needed seasoning. The tuscan chicken pasta needed seasoning and the chicken was very rubbery. The BBQ burger was very good as well as the fries. We paid $70 for average food and to wait an extra almost 20 minutes. I probably wouldn't have written such a poor review if the lateness was handled differently. read more

Ok, first time at this restaurant, very nice inside, great outdoor screened patio with retractable roof. This is probably a $$ to $$$ restaurant. The wait staff was friendly. Lots of menu choices. The food was great. Ok now the bad. They are not very accommodating on switching sides . We wanted to Caesar salad instead of a garden salad and they would only sell you an entrée Caesar salad. Also, some of the meals you can add a soup we wanted to clam chowder, but they would only allow you to get the soup of the day for the price of the meal they should be slightly more accommodating . Also the bread can out late almost with our meals. The entrance is on the lower level of the plane, the upper level parking lot is a disaster. Overall it was a good experience and I would go again. I would have done 5 stars if the bread , soup and salad issue didn't happen. read more

The Cellar quickly became a favorite of mine and my partner. The ambiance is great - the new enclosed patio area is really lovely and feels even warmer (or romantic, if that's what you want!) feel than the main restaurant. The greeters and servers are universally excellent. We have never had a bad experience. The food is delicious - and while I'd say the portions may be too large, we like it because we can easily share a pasta dish or have leftovers. My biggest tip? Get the truffle fries with the Kalamata olive aioli. Out of this world. read more

We hosted a combined NYE/Birthday party at The Cellar. Evis (the owner) was terrific to work with leading up to the party. She helped curate the menu and set up the room beautifully. Once we arrived the staff could not have been better. Shout out to Devin and Leah, the lead servers, who were amazing: responsive, efficient and pleasant to everyone. The food was delicious! I had made a reservation for 4 people at 8 pm on the patio and when we arrived I said "hi have a reservation " And was greeted with " well there are people who got here before you at 6" I said "ok but we have a reservation " And was told sorry first come first serve. What even is that? How rude why even take reservations when you won't honor them and way to immediately turn us off at the door. I'll never go again. This is a renovated labor of love and some details revitalizing the defunct Steak Loft. I have to agree with one of the other yelpers, that the ambiance is odd, not off putting, but while so much effort went into the architecture, the paintings and ornaments are really cheesy. So if you go by "first impressions" you will be seriously confused. But that part ends there, because you don't eat the decor, do you? With a name like "The Cellar, etc." you would expect a great wine offering. And wine is a very personal journey. I can only imagine it represents what the owners think memorable wines/approachable wines should be. THAT was my biggest disappointment. The wine list is - meh -. BUT I hear the bar and cocktails are well made. Judging by how loaded the bar was - let's say it's safe to assume they serve great drinks! ALL servers are smiling and moving around like gazelles, taking care of people with a smile and home-town welcome feel. Our server, Kathrine, was a delightful doll who aimed to please and had GREAT recommendations. As for the food? Not bad at all! They start off with GOOD BREAD (YAY!) and butter. Not a shabby start. We sampled the gooey, fatty and oh so flavorful crab dip. This stuff is so rich, it is a cure for a hangover. If you are going to drink - you want to nosh on this puppy. At Katherines recommendation, we went with one of their signature dishes that included a 12 onz NY strip, crowned with bay scallops, stuffing, a sauce. With 2 sides. We picked the asparragus and fingerling potatoes. $38 - not bad. The food was all very well seasoned, the steak was perfectly rare and not black-and-blue, the scallops were not ping pong rubber balls, and nothing was swimming in grease. In a nutshell? Good food. We were happy. Old school italian-american-ISH, steakhouse-ish neighborhood watering hole with something for everyone in the family - except people with food allergies. C'mon people. CALL AHEAD OF TIME and don't penalize a restaurant that put so much money and effort into the establishment because they can't cater to your health needs. JUST CALL AHEAD and if it can't be accommodated - move on or stay home. For the rest of the locals - enjoy. The people are lovely, the place is super clean (cheesy but clean - cmon owners, take some nice photos of cellars and landscape and blow them up, frame them and burn the BAD artwork from the walls! You will round it out by adding some less cheese to the otherwise beautiful walls!) read more

A co-worker recommended this place to me. She warned me that it was a hard to find place, that was literally like its name. Located in the bottom back side of a building it had a nice glass covered area as well as a cozy inside area. Staff was very friendly and sat us right away. Our waitress was very friendly and kept a close eye on us. We met some friends who we hadn't seen in a while so we were very slow looking and ordering, not a problem with our waitress. The drinks were strong but good and the beer list extensive. The menu has a good variety of food from pub style to high end. I had a BbQ bacon cheeseburger. The burger was cooked a perfect medium rare and was loaded with flavor. The fries were hand cut and really good, but in my opinion were sitting under a heat lamp as they were warm not piping hot. Wife had the Cobb salad with grilled chicken. A large salad loaded with avocado, eggs and cheese. The chicken was grilled perfectly and there was a nice portion. read more

A hidden gem! We've lived in the area for years but somehow just found this place. It's a cozy spot, with leather booths and a big, open bar with comfortable seating. Service at the bar was friendly and warm. My husband and I both enjoyed perfectly cooked steaks for dinner (rib eye for him, filet mignon for me). At $40 each, we thought they were quite reasonably priced and each came with our choice of two delicious homemade sides. We sampled the mashed potatoes, rice pilaf and asparagus. My steak also came with a choice of 2 sauces. I went with the bearnaise (my favorite) and it made a great accompaniment to my filet but also my asparagus. We each had several glasses of red wine in the couple of hours that we spent there, chatting with the bartender and friendly guests and even some neighbors we weren't expecting to run into. Great service. Ambiance is a little odd, but not off putting. Most importantly, the food. It was a mixed bag. In our party, most dishes were good but a couple did not seem fresh. The food was good (4+ stars) . I hService was excellent. We met up with another couple we hadn't seen in over a year. Our stable was situated in a very pleasant corner. Our waitress was very attentive but we only wished she needn't have repeatedly interrupted our conversations with asking "..is everything OK", but she could have been better by simply glancing at our table from afar and if we needed anything we would have given her a nod. The Cellar Bar & Grille opened in the former Steakloft space over the weekend in Northborough. The place was redone inside with hardwood flooring featuring a full service bar with seating on three sides & two flat screen TVs on the wall, high top tables, wine closet, and two dining areas with tables and booths with overhead thick candle lighting.  I stopped by on a Tuesday night and the place was fairly busy. I asked to be seated at a table instead of at the busy bar for a relaxing experience and was seated by the owner at a table with a comfortable padded booth seat. However, there was only one waiter working the busy dining room taking other orders of customers here before me, so it took a while for him to come over with a glass of ice water and to take my order. I was brought over a complementary basket of hot bread and butter, a great start to dinner. My food Steakburger ($14 plus tax) with Steak Fries & Dill Pickle Spear and Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese ($12 plus tax) was served to me in about 20 minutes, but that's when the service started to become compromised and short staffed. I asked for ketchup for my steak fries. The younger female bartender working all of sudden was gone and the place was getting busier. The poor waiter had to also become a bartender and waiter at the same table time. The owner was seating incoming guests and doing loose end tasks in the dining room. I received a bottle of ketchup 15 minutes later, almost half way through dinner. The guy at the table next to me walked to the kitchen and sent back his son's burger because it didn't have cheese on it as they ordered and got his own ketchup bottle from the kitchen entrance near the bar. The Steakburger had a thick grilled beef patty topped with steak sauce, mushrooms and melted cheese on a soft thick white bun (started to fall apart) and thick golden fried fresh cut steak fries. The Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese was served very hot in a casserole dish with a dense mixture of cheeses, firm gemelli pasta and topped with fried buffalo chicken strips. When I was done, I waited a long time for the overwhelmed waiter/bartender to return, so I went up to the bar and asked another staff member for box for my food. The waiter already had my check ready when he stopped by my table. After waiting 10 more minutes and he didn't return and too busy in the bar scrambling to try to get many things done, I went over to the bar and paid exact change with cash including tip and had to head to an appointment. The total time I spent here for dinner was 80 minutes. I get this restaurant and bar is new and was understaffed during dinner rush. The food I had tasted very good and I would give The Cellar another visit in the future when hopefully the kinks in the service are sorted out especially with more waitstaff needed, at least 2-4 more dining room servers. read more

So overall (tl:dr) the food was ok here from what I was able to try, but this place is severely, severely not allergy-friendly. Upon walking in, I immediately asked the hostess for an allergy menu, and was told that they don't have one, and to ask my server. Cool. I pick up the menu and notice that what's in each food item is pretty unclear, so I'm looking forward to asking my server what I'm able to eat with my dairy allergy. So I know how allergy requests, modifications, and questions can be time-consuming on a busy night for a server (10+ years as a server here), but the server not only had no idea what was in anything on the menu, but she was honestly rude about any questions I had, audibly scoffing when she asked what I wanted and I said I had no idea what I could eat (how could I??), and acted like I was a huge burden any time I asked if she could ask for me if something on the menu had dairy in it. She'd come back with a verdict on one item at a time after I asked questions about what was dairy free (vs maybe a small list of what the chef could rattle off that didn't have dairy in it maybe?). The whole process took way too long and I was embarrassed and felt alienated at my office party honestly, not to mention that this person was rude, and I don't say that lightly (again, server lol) to the point that some of my friends were commenting on her attitude. I ended up eating one buffalo shrimp, a piece of salami, a dry steak, and completely plain asparagus out of a large spread of appetizers, beverages, and desserts. I went home hungry, disappointed, and feeling crappy for the inevitable future allergy sufferer that goes through their doors. Honestly I won't be going back unless I hear of some major improvements happening that would make their space more accessible, at least an ingredient list online? Hoping they improve for the next person. read more
