This is a charming diner with an extensive menu. I could eat here for a week! Chicken pot pie was not available so I had Shepherd's Pie. It had lots of fresh mashed potatoes on top, ground beef and corn. I was surprised by the corn's presence and absence of peas and carrots. It was still really tasty, just a bit unexpected. My friend got an omelette with 3 pancakes. The pancakes had a bit of a tough texture on one side, but still good. We got an order of fried shrimp that was excellent with some delicious cocktail sauce. Service from Mary was very friendly, welcoming, and pleasant. Went to Harrys again last night 2nd time this week- usually have a great experience- we had an older lady as a waitress - she took our order my son asked for a chicken dinner and wanted to substitute the chicken for chicken tenders - she put in for two meals ! first of all a good waitress reads your order back to you ! when the food came out he was so confused he said I didn't want both meals I wanted to substitute ! she came over and got in my 22yo sons face and bullied him into buying both ordered meals saying she was going to wrap it up for him! like rudely and actually got in his face ! EXCUESE ME ! SO yes 160$ order and no we didn't leave a tip because your crappy attitude your a bully and your service $ucked !! she actually chased us out into the parking lot and went up to his truck so he couldn't close his vehicle door yelling at him asking what she did to not get a tip !! Harry's Restaurant was among the suggested places to eat when I searched for food near my hotel. I figured, since I was in Massachusetts, why not grab a quick lobster roll before work? Upon walking inside, you'll immediately feel like you've gone back in time. It gives off a very classic, old-fashioned diner feel, with booth seating and red stools along the counter. Important to note that this place is cash only. Lobster and other seafoods are advertised as their specialty both online and within the restaurant. I never had a lobster roll before, and unfortunately, this place made me think lobster rolls were mediocre and overrated (and then I had my life changed by lobster rolls from other places). FOOD: Lobster Roll (6 oz.) (2.75/5) - I opted for mine to be served warm with butter. It came with a side of slaw and very generous portion of onion rings and fries. The lobster roll itself was lukewarm and the melted butter came on the side in a small plastic cup. (I was expecting for the butter to be more incorporated.) The lobster sat on a small bed of cut lettuce. The lettuce wasn't of the freshest quality as some pieces tasted strangely bitter. The lobster was a tad rubbery, and everything was overall bland to me. I found myself reaching for the salt shaker more than would have wanted to. SERVICE: I believe a new hire was getting trained during my visit, so it was a bit clumsy. However, I found it rather charming. They are all very warm people, and you can tell that this is a family owned establishment, which is why I really wanted to like this place. I've been here a few times for the seafood over the years and have enjoyed it. Today I stopped in to try the Ruben sandwich and it was absolutely Delicious!!! Lots of meat, very tasty! The service was prompt and friendly. The ambiance is that of a diner which I appreciated. The only thing I really dislike about this place is that they don't accept credit cards and that's definitely the reason why I don't go here as often as I would like to. On a few occasions I made it to the parking lot and see the cash only reminder or I remember before I walk in so I turn around and go elsewhere. I think this must be their strategy for not having too many customers and over dilling their small restaurant. It definitely works because whenever I go there they always have customers but they are never over packed either which is nice. But, still a hassle for some customers..... They have been in this location for over 80 years so people clearly don't mind having to pay in cash. It's definitely worth trying out sometime if you're driving by with cash in your pocket. She began her beal with a cup of clam chowder...was thick, thick, she loved it. We both elected to go with the fried haddock, she chose fries, I went for the onion rings Rings were good, very thin lightly breaded, more like round onion strings than rings. Daughters fries were hot and fresh. Both dinners arrived with the thinnest haddock fillets I've ever seen, lightly breaded, and tastes. My fish had the consistency of a sponge, couldn't tell it it was grossly overcooked, or had been freezer burned before cooking. Since the server went MIA, I couldn't sent it back. Server was 'busy," chatting with her co workers, never saw her during the entire meal, until she called out from behind the counter, "you want any dessert." The lobster roll was good Size pieces and all claw meat... I wanted some sweet knuckle meat too... but I guess all claw better than minced tail meat? Needed more mayo or lemon flavor or any flavors? It was fresh however. The onion rings, fries a huge amount twice what I needed and were awful... batter had no taste or spices... needs flavors in batter . I was glad didn't order a seafood platter with this tasteless batter... Cole slaw was pre packed in plastic cup and was fresh with no flavors ... I added pepper, but needed a cream or milk or paprika or something. Place appears a big attraction for the locals ad staff and customers all knew each other probably for years? They are not shy on their prices and alot of menu options as a diner type spot. I don't see wearing my sneakers out to run back again. We stopped by to pick up some lobster rolls while in the area! A regular roll was around $32 and a larger one was around $40. It came with a LOT of onion rings and fries. The lobster was nice with big chunks! The onion rings and fries, however, were a pass. They had no seasoning and very bland. Overall, would return to try some other food, but the fries and onion rings were not worth it. I would suggest selling the lobster rolls without the sides and lowering the cost a bit. read more

My group takeout ordered the Regular lobster roll that came with French fries, onion rings, and cole slaw, the bacon cheeseburger sliders, and the crab and lobster bisque bowl. This came with a whole plate of onion rings and French fries (which we did not finish). The sliders were dry overall. The meat was pretty dry and the bread was also dry. The lobster roll bread was also a bit dry. The cole slaw was ok. The crab and bisque was probs one of the better dishes we got. It was creamy and it went really well with the fries. Wonderful food and service! They offer two kinds of lobster rolls, hot buttered or cold with mayonnaise. I chose the cold one and it was one of the best I've ever had. There was only a hint of mayonnaise, which was the perfect amount to complement the lobster, not overpower it. The lobster roll had large whole claws and big chunks of tender, sweet meat. It was fabulous. It came with a small cup of coleslaw and huge portions of onion rings and fries, and they substituted sweet potato fries for the regular fries for me at no extra charge. The batter on the onion rings was light and delicate, letting the flavor of the onion shine through. One thing I really appreciate is they don't oversalt the fried food like so many places do now. There are salt and pepper shakers on the table for you to put as much or as little as you like. The finishing touch to this perfect meal was a piece of homemade blueberry pie a la mode. OK, now be honest -would you expect a restaurant whose menu includes fried clams, calamari, scallops, steamers, quahogs, shrimp tacos, and lobster rolls to also include matzo ball soup? Hardly so, right?  Well what if I told you that my cup of matzo ball soup was absolutely delicious, one of the best I ever had- great broth loaded with shredded chicken, celery, carrots, and a 100% perfect soft and fluffy matzo ball? Harry's has been around since 1946, that's 75 years for those of you counting at home. We walked in yesterday, and every single outdoor seat was taken, the inside dining room was packed, and we luckily grabbed the only table still vacant. Our table for two was right by the register and counter, so we had a front row seat to the busy inner workings of Harry's - the non stop phone orders, the never ending parade of pick up customers, the communication between the front and back of the house, and the high energy servers who didn't ever have a chance to breathe between their job functions. We were particularly impressed by the young guy who worked like a demon clearing the tables, wiping them down, delivering water- all with a Robert Redford 1,000 watt smile on his face. We ordered three things - the aforementioned cup of matzo ball soup ($5.99), a BLT ($6.99), and a very rarely seen Calamari Caesar Salad ($13.99). My Calamari Caesar was great -it must have had 3/4 of a pound of breadcrumbed and fried calamari rings and tentacles over sliced Romaine. What a great combination. I've seen shrimp as a Caesar add-on but not calamari. Hail Harry !! Now my wife's BLT was a thing of beauty -piled thick with bacon and a pretty good value for the price.
