Old school, informal restaurant with great fresh food and good prices. Staff was busy and hardworking. Little gem of a place.

Tried Linguine's for the first time for takeout since we live locally and had never been. Unfortunately, it was a pretty big miss for us. I ordered the chicken piccata but it had zero capers, and the sauce tasted extremely watered down--water with maybe a teaspoon of butter. Not much flavor at all. The portion was especially frustrating for the price: roughly a full small container of pasta and what looked like about a quarter of a chicken breast. A box of pasta at most 8$, chicken breast usually 4 for 14$. About 3.5$ per breast. The bolognese was also disappointing. It had huge chunks of uncooked peppers, like the kind cut for dipping in ranch and very thick uncooked pieces of onion, including ends big pieces. The chicken parm came with the linguine in a separate container, which was fine, and all of the meals came with warm, fresh bread--a nice touch. We also ordered the garlic bread, which was essentially bread with a lump of unappealing cheese on top. Nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the quality was just okay, no one got sick! but the quantity relative to the price was the bigger issue for us. I wanted to give Linguine's a try because we live nearby, but based on this takeout experience, we won't order again. The restaurant itself is small and charmingly dark, with tight seating, loud and a very old-school, not-updated feel. Staff were not friendly, behind the counter was a tight space with a lot of staff, none were smiling or enjoying the work, no one greets the customers. It was busy when we picked up our food, so clearly they have a loyal following. Perhaps this is simply a particular style of Italian cooking that appeals & service to their regular customers, but it wasn't for us. Quality: Meh. Portion size for the price: Very disappointing. Came back because I was craving really good marinara and this is one of a few restaurants I know that does it good. Their eggplant is also the way I like it prepared - without breading. Their eggplant meal was fabulous. My husband had the Alfredo with chicken and broccoli, which he said the sauce was excellent. He liked the garlic bread over another favorite place of ours. I think the server said that the desserts are from Modern in Boston. No coffee though. read more

I was in Marlborough for work and found this place while out for an evening walk. Super busy and lively. Loud but not so loud that it made it difficult to carry on a conversation. I had the seafood manicotti special which was super tasty. I also had a cannoli for dessert which was a perfect ending. Prices were super reasonable for the amount of food served. I came with two teenagers in tow at around 7 on a Friday night. The place was about half filled, but lively. At least 3 different customers were walking out with take out orders as we walked in. There is a sign at the entrance that says "wait to be seated." So, we waited. I found it interesting that no one said "be with you in a second." It was awkward. A young busboy then seated us grumpily and took our drink orders. He must be having a tough evening. But he was working very hard, so let it slide. They should really have an adult man the entrance. Bread came quick to the table with packets of butter. It was good bread - maybe mini ciabattas? Not your typical bland white Italian bread. I wish we have two baskets of them! Our waitress came by about 10 minutes later and took our order. She was all buiness, but friendly. Like I said, this place was hopping and it was obvious everyone was wearing multiple hats. I ordered rigatoni bolognese with a side Caesar salad. My kids got garlic bread, cheese pizza and fettuccini Alfredo with lobster. So the salad was basic - but you can't get any more basic than Caesar salad. The dressing was obviously from a bottle, but it was tasty whatever it was. The rigatoni was... odd. They had huge chunks of onions and peppers in it. The onions I was ok with as I love onions. But the peppers overpowered the dish. I recommend they save the time and money and omit the onions and peppers. Instead, a nice dollop of ricotta would have been better. They also need to break down the ground beef more. The huge chunks didn't absorb the flavor of the sauce and tasted bland as a result. The pizza was an all basic. Tasty sauce, good cheese, nice bend, but the crust wasn't fresh stretched. They must use pre-made crusts - that's what it tastes like. Think big Boboli pizza crusts you get at the market. Not bad - but you expect better. I can make that myself at home. My son said the lobster in his fettuccini was very rubbery and sauce needed salt. But he ate it anyway. They didn't like the garlic bread, which was surprising. The best part was the dessert as they get it from Modern Pastry in Boston. Would I go back? Probably not. But if I was in the area I might do takeout in a pinch. read more

Family owned - husband, wife, brother-in-law, daughters, grandson (although he now has a professional job). Food EXCELLENT. My family has been going to this place for years. There's often a wait for dine-in & takeout, it's that good! The servers have been here for as long as I can remember. It's very casual with a sit down sub shop ambiance and your bread served on a paper plate with individually wrapped pats of butter. All of the food comes out piping hot each time. Per my friends I was visiting in Hudson, MA earlier this year - we HAD to go to Linguine's for dinner. The restaurant used to be much larger, but they closed off the other half so there is limited seating. Let me tell you...they do some SERIOUS take-out orders! People were standing in a line to get their order & the phone NEVER stopped ringing. We waited for about 10 minutes for a table for a party of 4, so that wasn't too bad. The bussers were working ridiculously fast to turn tables over. It was a bit loud inside due to the patrons & the kitchen is open to the dining area. We were stuffed into a small booth by the window & immediately greeted by our waitress. She was rushing us a little bit but we hadn't had a chance to look at the menu yet. To kill time she got our drink orders right out. We told her she was moving like the speed of light & she laughed. She said it's busy like that every single day. We really liked her demeanor; she was a champ. Here's a funny story... one of the waiters was helping to bus tables & the table to the right of us left SO MUCH FOOD behind, almost like they didn't touch it! My husband made a comment about how wasteful that was & the waiter agreed! We all laughed like, wow, you couldn't even take that to go at least instead of wasting it?! He was a character & had a great sense of humor. We watched as the waiter painfully had to throw out 4 plates of food :( We all wound up with pasta entrees & were pleased with our orders. For take out, I ordered angel hair pasta in alfredo with scallops and shrimp. When I got home, I realized they forgot to add the scallops. When I called, I was disappointed to hear that they will only give me a $4 credit back for a mistake they made and I was not able to have the meal I ordered. The manager was so rude! A small authentic Italian restaurant located just down the street from all the big name shops in Marlborough. As you walk in you start to get the feeling of an old time, loud Italian family spot. A great open kitchen that cooks all the main meals as well as pizza. Main room is small and crowded, but you can still carry on a conversation. The servers all work together to bring you your best meal and experience. The menu is huge and the pasta is all made in house. I recommend going with one of the specials. They brought fresh warm bread to start, always a plus. We started with the Maine mussels. A nice size portion of perfectly cooked mussels, in a butter, garlic and tomato sauce. Wife had the chicken and eggplant parmigiana. Two large portions of each, lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. I had the Pappardelle lobster. A delicious dish with giant chunks of lobster. I love GEMELLI pasta! You don't see it on every menu. I love the chewy texture. Linguine's was cooked a bit more than would like (not al dente) but the Gemelli and meatballs was amazingly delicious! My friend had the chicken cacciatore which was also delicious. The portions are HUGE! The noise level was medium high for lunch on a Saturday. Quick service and great food! Definitely one of those regular places to go and have a good meal. Nothing fancy and not a quiet atmosphere, but really solid food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed the Bolognese and Seafood Manicotti both were excellent. read more

Vina's down the road a little has the best pizza in the area in my humble opinion, but I wanted to try something new. We got a chicken parm sub, and pepperoni pizza. Pizza was pretty average, cheese wasn't super melty. It was all a little salty. The chicken parm sub was not great. Maybe I got a bad piece of chicken but it was rubbery and grizzly and I just couldn't eat it. Again, sauce was salty. The best part about it was the top of the sub roll - flaky crispy and soft on the inside. I did eat that. I will say the people are really nice. I just wish the food was more exciting. read more

I have now eaten here twice. I am from CA and my brother took me last time I was in MA. The food was amazing. The chicken Marsala spoiled me and ruined me for the chicken Marsala at home. I insisted on going back on this trip. If you're looking for fancy dining this is not it. This is a place that serves delicious food, in generous portions, by friendly smiling people. Looking for a casual night out? This is definitely the place. Again the chicken Marsala rocked. There were 7 of us and we all agreed the food was amazing. Most of us couldn't finish our portions. Been here several times before. Food is usually great. Got a pizza tonight and was just disappointed. I was told 40 minutes to pickup, so I waited. Cashier was chit chatting at a table when I got there and then had to assemble the salad while I waited. That should have been ready given the 40 minute wait. Got home, pizza didn't look appetizing. I reheated it and it just wasn't good, I was really anticipating it. So I would go back for other foods, but not pizza. Too many other options around. read more

We got carry out and enjoyed our dinner at a nearby hotel that we were staying. I got a homemade fusilli that had shrimp, scallops, homemade pasta in a wine sauce. I really enjoyed this dish, bc it was flavorful, had lots of shrimp and scallop and the noodle texture was on point. My husband got the chicken Marsala; the chicken was cut into small pieces and he says that he wished that there was more sauce and the sauce could've had more flavor. We also got a broccoli rabe, and that made for a nice fresh side. Dinner came with fresh warm bread, that was nice and soft. We also got a cannoli, that was filled to order, so that made for a nice dessert! We called in ahead of time, and the dinner was really for pickup shortly after I arrived. I CANNOT say enough about the service here. They are short staffed and still managed to give us SO much attention. Even though my daughter (3.5) was absolutely, embarrassingly obnoxious- they were extremely accommodating. Honest review of the food though....HOLY COW the fettuccine lobster Alfredo was to die for. Seriously. It might be the best I've had in Massachusetts. My fiancé had the chicken and broccoli Alfredo. My daughter, whom I fought with for 10 mins before she ate her first bite, actually ended up LOVING the cheese ravioli in pink sauce. And she'll always be the toughest, most brutally honest critic, lol. We left stuffed and my daughter with a purple lollipop, thanks to the owner. All in all- we will be back. How have I never eaten here?! It was crazy busy when we went, everyone hustling. We were seated immediately. We had drinks and our appetizer within 3 minutes!! The meatballs were huge and delicious, the sauce reminiscent of my gram's own on Sunday morning. I had eggplant, husband had veal parm. Portions were huge, and the spinach in my dish was fresh. I come to the area twice a year for work and I refuse to leave until I get my linguines fix! My usual victims are: Ceasar salad: perfect amount, always fresh, and I love that they put the dressing on the side Stuffed shells or baked ziti, great base layer for the INCREDIBLE MEATBALLS!!! I've never been a meatball girl until I had these. Sausage: perfect addition to that base layer of pasta. I usually throw in a couple sides, my coworker always gets a dish with seafood, the prices are beyond fair (maybe that's why I overorder and the waitess always tells me I'll have leftovers) I will forever and always make this place my home away from home. My wife and I ordered Veal Marsala and Veal pizzaiole. There were virtually no mushrooms with the Marsala dish. The veal was not pounded and breaded. Shoe leather was softer. Others in our party of 11 were equally disappointed with their dishes. read more
