I've been on a veggie pizza kick recently, so I've been trying different locations around the Sudbury area. The Plum Tomato had 4/5 stars and I hadn't tried them before, so I figured I'd veggie give them a try for dinner. I ordered my large pizza for pickup online and was given an ETA of 20-25 minutes. When I arrived about 10 min early, the App said my pizza was still in the works. It's a casual place with plenty of booths, so I picked one and sat down to wait. After a few minutes, the young man behind the counter asked if he could help me. I told him I was waiting on a pizza and it turned out it was ready. I brought it home and tried a slice. Honestly, the pizza was super bland and I wasn't impressed with the crust. The top had good char, but the bottom needed more and the pizza sauce didn't taste like anything. Ordered online for pickup. Online ordering was easy to use. I like that they were descriptive for each menu items. There was plenty of parking when we got there as this restaurant is part of a plaza that shares parking. However, picking up was a bit inefficient. Had to wait in the regular line for a while just to pick up the online order. To be fair, they were busy (dinner time) or one could say they were understaffed (depending on how you look at it). There were only 2 staff at the front and one of them was multitasking with delivery orders and there were continuous streams of customers coming in. But we are on Yelp for the food. We got the steak quesadillas and an order of what they called "garbage fries". Steak quesadilla is (based on their menu) shaved steak with grilled onions and peppers and jack and cheddar cheeses piled in a soft tortilla shell, grilled and drizzled with Chipotle Aioli. I love it. It is what I like in a quesadilla but from an Italian-esque restaurant. The tortilla shell was well grilled with cheesy and meaty insides. Great for sharing. The garbage fries are waffle fries topped with bacon bits, jalapenos, black olives, red onion and melted jack and cheddar cheese and served with a side of Chipotle mayo. Very flavorful. I love the different elements of taste and bite...the crunchy goodness of bacon with the spice of jalapenos with carby fries all swimming in cheesy goodness. It is better to eat this fresh, as the cheese solidifies and heating it up is just not the same. Overall, a good experience. Those 2 orders easily fills 2 people at a decent price. Ordered 2 sandwiches. Got home and there was 1 sandwich and 1 order of onion rings. Called to complain and they admittedly acknowledged their mistake. I asked for them to deliver my missing item and they said no, that I could drive back to get it. I said then I would be left with my sandwich and fries cold. I asked them to remake the order so I could have hot food. They agreed and I drove back. They handed me the missing item only. I told them it was unacceptable and they said it was the only solution. I told them to refund me and they gave me a slip of paper that said nothing about a refund and told me it was a refund. I'm waiting to see if the refund goes through. Looked like a small pizza with ricotta drizzled on top which tasted watered down. Place was my go to place but last two pizzas were horrible. I swear, there are at least ten different pizza shops in a five mile stretch of Boston Post Road (which is also US Route 20). None of the others are as well reviewed as The Plum Tomato and I see why. Firstly, instead of boring pizza, this is interesting pizza. My eye was drawn to one they called The Landsdowne. Onions, peppers and sweet sausage. Oh, my. It was prepared to order, so while I waited about ten minutes, my laptop and I used up their free wi-fi network (the password is their phone number). When I got the pizza back to the hotel room, it was still quite hot but I realized that I had neglected to grab a plate. My fault, totally. The pizza was delicious. Thin crust is one thing, but this crust was like overcooked/burnt cardboard. It tasted like what I would imagine a frozen grocery store pizza (have never had one) that had extra toppings added and then left in the oven for way too long would taste. I was a bit disappointed coming here for dinner. It's a typical pizza place that after walking in the storefront, I realized does a lot of delivery. It seemed like a solid place to have in your town to get some delivery from on a Friday night for dinner. We ordered the penne chicken Broccoli Alfredo dish and boneless buffalo wings. The Alfredo did not taste fresh,--it tasted like it sitting around for a long time and was heated to go on our dish. The boneless buffalo "wings" were one of my biggest pet peeves--chicken tenders dipped in hot sauce. They were extremely greasy. Every cut into them, oil came out. I hate wasting food, but we did throw most of them out. The woman behind the counter--she keeps them at a solid 2 stars given how nice she was. This review is as a workshop coordinator and delivery service only. I needed to order food for a large group order for a Saturday and Sunday workshop I was coordinating in the Framingham area. The group had dietary issues but Dave was absolutely awesome, easy to work with and friendly. The workshop was out of his coverage area and it was a large group order. He was willing to take the itemized orders, put names to the orders for ease of ownership (who ordered what item) and the delivery was on time both days. A blessing when I have a room of hungry people!! The food was fabulous. I have coordinated many conferences and it is hard to please everyone. Over 15 people were happy with their individual orders. I had the Gluten Free pizza and it was one of the best I've had in a while. The Greek salad with chicken was fresh, filling and delicious. I'm so happy I was able to work with Plum Tomato and would absolutely work with them again if I were in the area and coordinating a small workshop or even just finding a place to eat. New paint, new sign, new menu. A nice change. The basics are pretty standard fare. The cheesesteak is what you'd expect. The onion rings are thick and of the beer battered variety. If they're not frozen, the batter could use a little kick. Not sure what, but they need something. The real stars of this new menu are the grilled cheese sandwiches. I had the Smashed Meatball. It was hot, cheesy, and perfectly grilled on thick bread. Unique and delicious. A must try. Chips and pickle on the side make the perfect lunch. I won't be able to stay away from these. Always love the Plum, great food and trays. BUT this time, I was given a tray that was Half full and charged double. When I called to correct it, I could hear the cook (person in charge) saying "what does she want" in a frustrated voice. They did correct, I did have to go all the way back. Never an apology and no, the price was not fixed. The pizza was very thin compared to their terrific pizza in past. Disappointed for the first time.. Ordered take out on a Sunday - online ordering through ChowNow was easy, but Groupon is not honored unless you order directly from the restaurant, so beware. Bummer. The Hawaiian pizza was good, although the dough was a bit "bready" for my liking. A 16" pie only had toppings on about 12.5" inches of pizza, so you're left with a lot of tasteless crust, which lacks the chewy/crispness of really good pizza dough. The hot wings were certainly spicy and very large, but perhaps too big as they were undercooked. There were 9 in a regular sized order, and 3 of them were inedible as they were too raw. The skin was soggy and pulled off when I bit the wing - perhaps due to steaming during take out. Might give it another try for a sandwich or pizza, but definitely won't order the wings again and won't likely be a regular here based on first experience. read more

The pasta can be a little heavy and greasy but it's still good and their portions are very generous so you get multiple meals. Same with the calzones! Definitely recommend. Ordered 2 subs tonight and after picking them up, we realized they weren't made the way we requested. The person on the phone recited the entire order back to me when I placed it. I called and they were able to bring the order up and recite it again. We were offered a $5 credit. After paying full price and tipping. We told them they could keep it and we'd order elsewhere going forward. If they could read the order even after picking up it, they should be able to make the order correctly.
