The pizza crust is a standout--chewy in the best way, with a satisfying texture and flavor that doesn't rely on toppings to carry it. It's not dry or bland like you sometimes get at quick-serve spots; this was clearly crafted with care. The sauce hits a great balance--neither overly sweet nor harshly acidic--providing a smooth, savory backdrop for the toppings. We ordered two varieties: pepperoni and mushroom. The pepperoni itself was average in quality, but it was spread generously and evenly, and the overall composition of the pizza made it work. The first thing you need to know about Brazilian baking is that on the whole, the nation has an almost unquenchable sweet tooth. Almost every bread you'll find is sweet. In fact, some of the bread actually has custard baked into the top of it doubling up on sweetness. Pudding and bread, who knew? In addition to the rows and rows of sweet breads, you'll find bakery items (almost all sweet) and a few little snacks and lunch items. In case there wasn't enough sugar for you ... the counter also offers several hard to find South American candies and chocolate bars. The earlier you get here, the better the selection will be. They make these fried chicken chunk skewers which are so damn good! Imagine just the chicken part of a Chic Filet sandwich ... fried crisp with a salty herbed crust.
