I really dig this little place. Like most single/units, I like to wait until I've visited a couple times. Kind of smooths the occasional peaks and nadirs with small joints. I've visited several times and each time has been wonderful. Of the two items I clearly remember: the traditional breakfast sandwich was great. Bacon, egg, cheese, on a bulky roll. Easy to eat while driving, made fresh, tasty and sat well in my gut. This fine morning, I had the salmon bagel with the onion, tomato caper and hard boiled egg. While it couldn't eat it in car without a mess or bodies littering the streets, I waited until I got to the office. What I got was fantastic. Lots of salmon with cream cheese, sliced onion and tomato, and a condiment cup of capers. Slapped it all together (except the egg) and went to town on it. Good stuff. I can't say I've been in and ever found it to be backed up. Service has always been courteous, prompt, and attentive but not overbearing. While it is slightly off the commute route of rt2 ( but only about three Minutes off the exit. And drive right by that lowbrow Dunks), if you are coming from south of downtown Sterling on 12, it is an easy visit that will make your day a little better. And just for kicks, tell them Josh sent you. They'll have no idea who you're talking about but could be fun. I didn't keep track of the price today, but I'm usually getting out of there with something good to eat and a coffee for under 15 well-spent dollars. The place has a cool look to it. It used to be a couple different bank branches. Inside, they kept the vault door and used some of the safety deposit box doors as decorations. Pretty cool. read more

Emma's has been me and my husband's favorite breakfast spot for nearly 10 years! We used to go every Sunday morning when it was right down the street from our house in Stow. Since they've move to Sterling we still make it a point to drive out there for the great food! Yummy smoothies and coffee drinks as well! Andrew, the owner, is great and so is all of his staff who we've gotten to know over the years. We love the intimate cafe feel and the outdoor space is nice in the summer. This cafe is easy to find but has insufficient parking. We landed up parking across the street at the library and walking there in the rain. The place was quite full for mid morning on a weekday and we had to wait to order. The food tasted good but they were skimpy on the avocado in the breakfast burrito although they charged $2.00 extra for it. There was just a small amount in the corner and you could barely taste it. I did notice they discontinued avocado toast so looks like they are trying to cut things like this due to inflation. Other items were average to good. They have outdoor tables and even though the weather was cold and rainy they had the outside door propped open and a fly got in and was buzzing around. Additionally the tables had some crumbs and the cooks were not wearing gloves, though wait staff were. If I were in the area again I might stop by but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

Not only was the food and service amazing, but the owners at Emma's went above and beyond to make sure I got my purse back when I left it there accidentally. A few friends and I stopped to get breakfast before heading to the airport and home to the west coast. I misplaced my bag for about a week and when I finally called to check they said they had everything still intact and would mail it to me. Stopped by quickly after doing a goat hike at Maplewood Farmstead. Emma's Cafe has limited parking and there's a ton of street parking. You order at the counter and receive a number for the staff to drop off the food at your table. The staff is super friendly and service is quick. Everything on the menu is affordable. I'm visiting my daughter and son-in- law in Hudson MA and we had an opportunity to visit Emma's in downtown Sterling. First, Sterling is a quaint picturesque little town straight out of the latest Hallmark movie. It is typical of the small town flair that you would find on the east coast and down south. Emma's did not disappoint. This small town restaurant has a big city attitude and the food to match. From the farm to table omelets, burgers, wraps, soups, smoothies to the home made pastries, everything on the menu was OUTSTANDING. I'm so happy that my kids made the decision to move to Hudson as this great eatery in Sterling is just a quick drive away. It's got that small town vibe, but the big city eats! read more

Picked this place from yelp (of course) on our way to Honey Pot Orchard. Located in a strip mall a couple doors down from Dunks. From the outside it looks very small but it actually opens up into a large open room. Menus are on the wall and you order and pay at register. They give you a number and you seat yourself. The small coffee served in to-go cups were huge, hot, and fresh. You add cream and sugar at the counter along with a couple different flavors options. The dining area seemed a little barren, think 'Cafeteria style seating under florescent lighting'. There was also a lounge area with comfy chairs, tv and kids puzzle boards. Once your food is ready the waitress delivers to your table. Each breakfast plate had two pieces of bacon on it! The food was nice and hot. The veggies In my omelette were crisp and fresh. The waitress also cleared the plates but it looked like it was also self cleanup as well. It was a little confusing if we were supposed to tip or not. Looking around at other tables I didn't see anyone tipping. It felt weird not to, So I asked and it's optional but it's a good idea to tip! So be generous to the really nice staff! Breakfast and lunch place in downtown Sterling with walk up counter service. EV charging nearby (which is why I made my initial visit btw). Certain this place is well know to anyone who Lives in Sterling. I pass thru town for work occasionally and love to hit Emma's up for either breakfast or lunch. Worth a stop if it's on your way. I've had some of their sandwiches and salads. So far everything has been delicious and esp the salads - fresh and flavorful ingredients. There usually is a daily special (1/2 sandwich / soup or similar) written on the board as you walk in. Also well priced. I will be back to this small town gem. read more

Dropping my review to 4 Stars. Up until now, I've only come for the afternoon coffee and free WiFi. But I dropped in for breakfast this weekend. What a disappointment. Food was really bland. As a coffee shop (Starbucks replacement), this is 5 Stars. But as s breakfast spot, 3 Stars. I ordered the Miami Heat omelette. Corn, black beans, avocado, salsa and cheese. With the word "Heat" in the name, you expect flavor and spice. None. I think there was only diced tomatoes in there - no salsa. Similar issue with the Fenway omelette. It was billed as chorizo, peppers and onions. So you are expecting those ubiquitous hoagie flavors in your omelette. But I wonder if it was breakfast sausage instead of chorizo. And the peppers and onions clearly were not cooked with the sausage. Again a bland and boring omelette. The potatoes were bland. Needed an extremely generous application of salt and pepper. ************************************************* What a great discovery. Found this place by fluke. Had about 20 minutes to kill so was heading to my least favorite DD next door when I noticed this place. They are only open until 4, which explains why I have never been able to drop in. I'm usually in Stow/Acton in the evening. Large open space. Many creative menu choices - BLT with Avacado. Pretty much your basic breakfast or lunch menu but elevated. Creative smoothies. Scones. Randomly stopped here after Yelping for breakfast on the way to the airport from Central Massachusetts. I had the French toast and bacon for $9, a fair price. The menu indicates real maple syrup so I'll have to take them at their word because no one or nothing indicated such during our visit. My husband ordered an omelet which he said was good, as well. The procedure is to order and pay at the counter, pick out a table to be seated, and the order will be delivered to you when ready. There are plenty of seats. The space is big with a separate private dining room in the back, as well. The only issue is that the space is too big -- it's not warm and cozy and it's not particularly inviting, more of a sparse look going on. I think if the space were more inviting in décor, I'd have given it 4 stars. read more

A friend and I came here the week of Jan 18th 2021. We had a great visit and I had a amazing healthy start wrap. Lots of flavor and it was made fresh. Social distancing was perfect and Andrew came over to see how we were and we had some small conversation. I told him I would return Again. The week of Jan 25th I returned here with another friend , ordered the Hungry Man sandwich on my sons recommendation, I wasn't disappointed. Again Andrew came over to have some small chat and told us he appreciated us for choosing his place. This place has been in Stow, Mass for 7 years. I hope he survives this covid pandemic.
