I received the meal in less than 5 minutes but I wish the flavor was more memorable. I had a cheese omelette with extra veggies, rye bread and I was so impressed that they had decaf coffee. The omelette was a huge portion such that it filled the large plate but it had a lot of American cheese, an unusual amount. I'd definitely recommend if you need a quick fix when hungry. The menu is also pretty limited so you can only pick from simple breakfast meats, pancakes, eggs or bread. The service was outstanding though which covers for the old diner feel. read more

Hands down, the best diner in Worcester. You get your choice of potatoes with breakfast, and one of the choices would be tater tots. Why would you order anything else? Real eggs, not overdone. Nice! With the school year almost at an end, this may be the last diner visit my son and I make, at least this semester. And if it does end up being the last one, well boy oh boy did we go out on a high note! Hands-down, no question about it, there can be no debate, Annie's Clark has the best vibe of the many we have visited over the last few months. The food was great, and we've got the photos to prove it, we lucked out when we strolled in late on a Saturday morning and sat right down, the service could not have been more friendly, fun, thoughtful, and we really felt right at home. There is an awesome griddle upfront, worked by the woman herself, and then because they pump out a serious amount of volume, there is a prep kitchen in the back that has got a bunch of stuff going as well. We sat close enough that we could see into the back kitchen, and being a food service nerd that was heaven for me. We got a little bit of joking razz from Annie, (love that in a New England diner!) and a sweet happy welcome - plus great advice on the French toast - from everyone else. Food was good...busy atmosphere and server was nice. My friend and I sat a little too long but I was watching to make sure no one was waiting. The cook came over and nicely said they needed the table. We jumped up immediately and told her we totally understood. UNTIL she rudely said "sorry but you know that's the way we make our living" She was very snarky and kept going on about it. My favorite place in Worcester (and top 2 or 3 in MA) for breakfast. First went there when my daughter went to Clark University. I now stop in when I am in Worcester on business. Walk in the door at 6:15 AM and before you sit down, you will be asked if you want coffee and the local paper. Offered a menu and will then take your order as quick or slow as you want. They make sure when you say home fries that you mean home fries and when I couldn't decide between whole wheat or raisin Annie suggested one of each. The 2 eggs, sunny side up, home fries, bacon and toast made a meal that lasted me the whole day. My cup of coffee was kept full during my stay. Wonderful service and a great meal. Wait, what? I've never reviewed Annie's? That's weird. Annie's is actually the best. I was just in Worcester for Clark reunion ('11 whattup!!) and I ate there twice and regretted nothing. It was interesting because they remembered us. I know what you're thinking, they remember everyone. But like, we were never regular regulars. We were once a week, once every other week people. We didn't chat much with them. But they kept making references that proved no, no, they knew exactly who we were. Anyway, the friendliness and all that is just icing on the cake. The pancake. However, you will never leave unsatisfied by Annie's cooking. You get so much food, so much flavor, for great value. I'd be remiss if I didn't write a review for Annie's. This diner (don't you dare call it a greasy spoon!) has been a linchpin of the Clark community for ages. Attracting everyone from students and professors to priests and physical plant staff, it's as much a neighborhood 'town hall' as it is a restaurant. Annie is like a 'mom away from mom' for a lot of regulars, as long as mom is a gregarious, ball-busting biker lady with a heart of gold. She offers sage advice and remembers to ask about particular details of peoples' lives. Her daughter Meghan often helps out, and she definitely takes after mom. If you're easily offended, Annie's isn't the place for you, but if you can take a joke, you'll be accepted pretty quickly. The food is pretty standard breakfast/lunch fare, but the portions are huge and the prices are tiny. Annie's omelets are the stuff of legend...ask her to put 'whatever' in one, and you'll be rewarded with the proverbial kitchen sink. Just don't ask for pancakes...Annie hates making them, and they take up far too much real estate on her grill. The only thing I don't like about Annie's is that it's 40 miles away. So, i ordered a bagel and tater tots that were so greasy and GOOD! however, i think i underestimated the greasiness because later that day my stomach was SO not happy with me. It was my first time at Annie's yesterday, and I loved it! The atmosphere was bustling and diverse! It sits right next to Worcester's Clark University, and is great for the college students who are looking for an enjoyable breakfast. When entering in the restaurant I was greeted by the nice young ladies working the counters. The place was bustling and full and we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. There isn't too much waiting space, although there is a small bench outside, and a chair in the corner of the store, but either way, we were seated very quickly. Others who also waited after us were seated quickly as well! This was around 11 AM on a Saturday morning to give you a feel. We (my boyfriend and I) sat in a booth - there were about I'd say 10-15 booths(not really quite sure- but that's a glimpse of it) along the wall and alot of counters space open next to it. We were seated promptly and greeted by our friendly and upbeat waitress. Service was quick and our waitress was enthusiastic and she knew what she was doing and was very through with our orders! We got our meals within 15 minutes or less, and it was fabulous. The homemade freshness of the ingredients used in my omelets were noticeable, and the portions were big and for a great price, especially for those college students on a budget like me!! Throughout our meal we were watered several times in a timely manner which I thought was great because sometimes at other restaurants they never come check on you, or they ALWAYS come check on you, but these ladies know how to do it right. My only gripe is that she folds the hash in with the eggs in an omelette - I could easily resolve this by just ordering it on the side since i love to smash my face open-mouthed into her omelettes. But on that eighth day, I'll tell you whut, he came on down and made Annie's. And if he didn't, well by golly I bet he wishes he did. You can't find prices this low this side of Reagan, the spicy hash'll knock your boots off, and the staff are friendly in that way people pretend to like New York. The coffee is bottomless, the mac and cheese endless, and the muffins more buttery than a specific online video I'm thinking of that I have not seen. Frankly, if you make it past campus without visiting a washroom you're doing something wrong. I can't tell ya how many quality days with the guys and, truthfully, perplexing meals with my boy have taken place in those old booths, but I know it's more than I've spent anywhere else. If you're expecting fine dining, forget it. But I love the food. I don't care what some of these other 'critics' have said, this is some of my favorite food. Here's the thing: you can have the best food on the world and be jerks. You can also have basic food and just be wonderful human beings. Basic and wonderful was my experience here. The food is nothing fancy (although, the fat kid in my heart did a little dance because they offered tater tots). They have a homemade hot salsa for the eggs and the portions are giant. We had a good laugh about people who want lemon in their water. The women running the place were morning people. Super friendly and happy and laughing at 6 am. I can't tell you how valuable that is to me although I can see how it might be too much for a non-friendly, non-extrovert who want to sit in silence and anonymity. They treated me like a regular even though we had just met and I was leaving town that evening. This is the second cash only diner I have checked out while in Worcester. I nearly passed on it because college hotspots tend to irritate me (due to the college students that accompany universities). I got lucky. I'm so glad I came here, who knew that such a cute little place could be such a bang for your buck! When I came in they looked busy, but I was quickly seated at the counter and given a menu. The food is very comfort-food like and for very good prices. I can see why college kids love it so much. I got the eggs with cheese, which was really good for what it was and it also came with the best tater tots I've ever had. My mother's tuna sandwich was also very good with plenty of celery and fresh tuna. We were in a bit of a rush but our food came quickly and our waitress was very kind and helpful.
