I was recently searching for a new coffee shop to try in my travels out of town. I came upon Aero Coffee and man, I was not disappointed. Nice little coffee roasterie and bake shop with what I'd call not quite city quality, but very impressive for a place outside the city. A big reason to check them out is the Thursday special, when they bring in donuts from Donut Stand in Southborough -- only four varieties, rather than the Stand's full arsenal, but of very high quality and they sell out fast. Pleasant environment and friendly staff. Coffee: Excellent. Depending on the roast and the day, it can vary in strength, but it rivals the best coffee shops in the burbs and blows away the chains. Cookies: Same. A definite step above the best of the 'burbs while not rivaling the best of the city. Scones: Several varieties, all good, all leaning a bit more on the sweet side than traditional, but reliably moist without being greasy. Croissant: No. Just don't. I love croissants but I believe theirs are industrial reheats, as opposed to fresh baked on the other items. Rugelach: Very crisp, very rich and chewy, with LOTS of chocolate/Nutella. Donuts: On Thursdays you'll find a small assortment from Donut Stand, usually the more basic ones, but their glazed ones are damn impressive: fluffy and not sweet inside, but lathered with a tasty, and NATURAL-tasting glaze that leans more toward buttercream. Their chocolate-based donuts aren't your typical gray and vaguely but unidentifiably sweet kind; they taste like brownies. Other flavors are always decent, sometimes wow-worthy. read more

The coffee at Aero is excellent. I got the rose cardamom latte and I could not get enough. They told me they steep rose petals to make it and it shows. It boggles my mind that I have not reviewed Aero until now. It's been my regular spot for over 15 months now. The coffee is fantastic, and I'm into flavored lattes when done right, and Aero is my favorite. It's so common for flavored syrups to just taste like pure sugar, or give that "oh, is that supposed to be cinnamon?" sensation. Aero's house-made syrups are creative, delicious, and most of all for me, aren't pure sugar and taste like something. The food is all good - the everything croissagel and the sandwiches are personal favorites. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and knows what they're doing. The Morning Glory muffin is a "mini carrot-ish" cake in a fluffy muffin, curing all muffin cravings dead on the spot and starting what now will be muffaholism... The case just sucks you in. Wow. I've been obsessed with coffee most of my adult life, and I've been to many coffee houses in several countries. This is probably the best I've ever been to, and I don't say this lightly: the mocha served here has the perfect balance of bold espresso, rich chocolate, creamy steamed whole milk served at the perfect temperature for immediate consumption. I waited approximately 60 seconds for my order. The pastries are insanely good. Caramelized sugar on the bottom of the cinnamon roll with pumpkin (cream cheese?) icing that is decadent, fully featuring the pumpkin without overpowering the beauty of the cinnamon roll. I also got an egg and cheese sandwich, which didn't look spectacular but was still honestly way better than any egg and cheese I've had in recent memory. I think it's because the egg wasn't overcooked and came properly seasoned. Cheese was melted enough to be gooey, but critically not too melted to lose the sharpness of its astringent flavor. You walk in and are hit with the beautiful smell of coffee and pastries. The decor is cool. The atmosphere is inclusive and the staff gives a damn. 10/10 I might eat here every day. The best part... is that it blows away the competition in the area. There hasn't been a REALLY good coffee house in the central MA/Metrowest area since Sofa Café closed, and this one is somehow better. Thanks! read more

Omg!! I love love love this cafe!! I went there twice in a row on our short visit to MA. I am amazed that they roast their coffee on site, and they make their amazing baked goods right there too. I got their strawberry and cream cheese croissant, an egg and cheese on croissant, and latte with almond milk. Everything was delicious! I also like how they do a little bit of coffee art, that makes for nice presentation. The service is nice and friendly too. Good coffee. The matcha latte is not too sweet. I've gotten the turkey sandwich - good crunch on the bread. The jalapeño cheddar scone was a bit too dry and no one offered to warm it. Not good. I've only gone here once but my experience wasn't the greatest. My latte was luke warm despite ordering it extra hot. It also had that unpleasant burnt caramel taste which is really unpleasant. I've experienced at many independent coffee shops and I would really like to know what causes it so that I can explain it to the Barista when it happens. Drank a quarter of it then into the trash. The pumpkin biscotti was very large but very soft. I like my biscotti's to be hard. Maybe it was supposed to be soft but not my cup of tea. Also, no pumpkin flavor that I could detect. Really good espresso in a beautiful location. Employees: very efficient, nice, and knowledgeable. Coffee: cortado was excellent. (Brewed coffee was OK - sitting a while in the warmer really does not show off the brew, though I understand why they do it perhaps make smaller amounts more frequently during off-peak hours like lunch). Food: wrap was excellent, and pastries looked amazing even if I didn't partake. Suggestion: additionally coffee brewing methods. An Aeropress at Aero would be welcome, for example. It would also show off the roasting better than the warming carafes. It didn't hurt that the Decemberists were playing in the background. Probably 4* for the non-espresso coffee but +1 given the overall experience. Glad I found them. read more

Aero is the best coffee roaster in the area, in my opinion. And the cafe is great. I tend to go a few times a month, to pick up a bag of coffee, grab a cup, and sometimes get a breakfast sandwich. Their in house roasting is fantastic. They offer a lot of single origins, from Central/South America, Africa, and Asia, their light roast is truly light-and they get it right. I'm not much into dark, so I can't comment on those but I also like their medium roasts. And they have some really nice blends. each time I go into the cafe, they feature two different batch brew options, usually a light or medium and a dark. it's all good. I'm not much into espresso drinks, so I can't comment. the breakfast sandwiches are delicious, and they have gluten free options. the muffins and pastries all look wonderful, though I rarely partake. the owner is always super helpful when I am poking around the coffee bean section, explains things, helps me choose based on what I have previously liked. AND the bags have roast-on dates, not best-by dates. don't buy coffee that does not have roast-on dates. love this place. read more

This is a huge space right along Rt 20 that had the misfortune of opening during the pandemic. Despite that, it seems business is pretty good and relatively busy for them. I've probably gotten food and drinks here 5 or 6 times now, and there are always at least a handful of other people eating outside or waiting in line, so I'm surprised there are no other Yelp reviews for this spot. The pastries and sandwiches are the real standout items to me. I think they have a pastry chef who bakes from scratch every morning. The plain croissants are always out by the time I get there, even when I went in at 9am! But the one time I got a hold of them... delicious. Amongst their baked goods, I've tried their jalapeño cheddar biscuits, nutella scone, cranberry biscotti, plain and chocolate croissant, and cookies. All of them were delicious, though my favorites were the scones and croissants. They taste freshly baked and suuuuper good really. Probably the best baked goods in this area. Their sandwiches are also great. I've tried their Cuban panini, their chicken salad wrap, and their BLT. My favorite was the BLT, and it was a good price too for $4 compared to the other sandwiches. I think the drink quality can be inconsistent. I've had perfect lattes and then lattes that were too bitter. The brewed coffee is fine though, that's been consistent. You also get a small complementary coffee if you buy a bag of beans which is nice. I've tried a couple bags of their beans, and they're fine, but I think until they finish setting up the roastery, I'll stick to Armeno Coffee Roasters since they roast the same day, and right now Aero is packaging up and shelving so the beans aren't the freshest. I'm looking forward to trying the beans once the roastery is all set up though. Lastly, the people behind the counter are super nice. Great customer service. I think it's commendable what this place is trying to do. Roast coffee and sell it but also use that coffee to make their drinks and bake all their pastries in-house. There aren't a lot of coffee shops that do this, especially in Northborough, so it's an exciting addition to the cafe culture here. The space inside would be fantastic for studying or chatting IF it weren't a pandemic right now, but I hope this place sticks around until we get a vaccine, so I can try dining in at some point. When the weather was nicer, the outdoor seating was really nice. There is ample parking and it's a convenient spot to get to from the state highway. I'm pretty picky about my espresso. I order cappuccino most of the time, occasionally straight espresso. Like most places Aero doesn't know how to make a cappuccino. It's a latte. The espresso did not taste very good. But it's an enjoyable place to hang out and pastries looked really good even though I didn't partake. read more

We decided to check out this coffee shop after hearing good things and were so happy that we did. It's hidden in the corner of a small shopping plaza in Northborough but definitely worth the trip out. The plaza has ample parking and it looked like they may have some outdoor seating available when it warms up. There is an on site roasting area that you can look at through a glass divider which I thought was cool. The food and coffee drinks were fantastic and The place also had great staff. They had fresh baked pastries available so I tried the cranberry orange scone which was flaky and a nice combination of the flavors without being too overpowering. We tried a coffee of the Thailand Doi Saket Honey beans which was great (liked it so much we got a bag of beans to take home) as well as the cookie butter latte which is a flavor I don't see often (and may have been seasonal) but I really enjoyed it. They added just enough of the flavor syrup to get a hint of cookie butter without it being too sweet and the espresso was smooth. The shop has alternative milk options too including almond and oat milk. As for food, we tried The Aero which consists of bacon, egg, cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo and a pesto, tomato, mozzarella, and egg sandwich both of which were served on toasted english muffins. While there, I noticed some people ordered their sandwiches on croissants so I'll likely try that next time. Both sandwiches were flavorful and better than I've had at some brunch restaurants. Im typically a black coffee drinker and avoid lattes when I order out because they're usually too sweet and can be hit or miss. This is probably one of the best I've ever had... This place is amazing and we're so lucky to have it close by! I used to travel out to Sudbury to karma coffee when I was really craving excellent coffee. No more (although karma coffee remains excellent as ever)! The baristas really know what they are doing here- the beverages in house are always perfectly done. The pastries are also great, my favorite is the banana bread. The breakfast sandwiches in English muffin taste just like my mom makes it at home and is probably the perfect breakfast. I also got their espresso medium roast blend as recommended by the barista for home espresso and it's on its way to becoming a regular in my rotation- balanced, smooth, delicious taste and somehow seems easier to pull than other beans I've tried? I just tried Aero Coffee Roasters for the first time and had a great experience! I knew I wanted to get a cold brew and they had several different dairy options including oat milk! (+10 points for oat milk!) I was curious about if they had any special flavors syrups and they had a honey lavender, brown sugar, and even cardamom rose syrup that they all make in house. I tried the cardamom rose syrup and it was heavenly. They roast all of their coffee in house and the barista I had, who also happened to be the coffee roaster was super friendly and helpful.
