WOW! What a lovely surprise. My husband and I were just out driving around our old home town of…read moreHudson, MA and thought we'd grab a bite. Finnegans didn't look as busy as some of the eateries on Main Street so we thought cautiously we'd give it a try, knowing all the while that if its not busy it's usually a good sign to stay away. We walked into a warm and casual dining room that offered a bar in the main room with locals casually chatting over a few drinks. The bar clientele were not disruptive to our dining experience whatsoever. The service was fast and friendly and the menu had a nice varied menu of good old American food. Burgers, Fries, Fish, Chicken and Beef. I ordered the sirloin tips and my husband ordered the Fish and Chips. In what was a comfortable amount of time our food came to the table piping hot and absolutely delicious. The haddock was light, flaky and obviously fresh covered with a light breading that was perfectly season. The fries were hot and perfectly deep fried. My sirloin tips were exceptional, perfectly charred on the outside and a beef eaters delightful rare to medium rare inside. Marinated perfectly not overstated but just enough to enhance the delicious and tender tips. Not served with gravy or a mushy sauce of peppers and onions or whatever just perfectly cooked beef tips. I think they surely gave the nearby Wildwood Steakhouse a run for the money. My mashed potatoes were piping hot, lightly seasoned and tasted like home made with a home made texture and a few lumps. The veggies were fresh, perfectly cooked al dente' and I smiled as the chef Tom, peeked out the door to give and get a grateful thumbs up. A very pleasant evening out in a pub that certainly does not get enough raves about its fast and friendly service, and truly great food. One note, if its shift change time you might want to make sure that its your waitress that gets her tip before she leaves. Thanks Tom, we will be back.

Including pictures. * Ordered loaded onion rings - 5 jalapenos on top with a few bacon bits? * Ordered kids fish and chips for son - came out as chicken fingers. * Coleslaw that came with the "fish and chips" was rancid. Wife luckily took a bite and spit it out before my son did. I took a whiff of it. Beyond spoiled. I dont mind food tasting different for everyone, that's the fun of trying. But I draw the line at serving rotten food. Drinks are pretty good though! *Update I'll try again in a year. And no, didn't talk to the manager, this was takeout I ordered for the family. I have two kids, and my routine is down to the minute until bedtime *

There is a significant service and management problem at this restaurant. My family and I went for…read moreSt Patrick's Day, as we have before. We asked the manager for some napkins to prop up the wobbly table and he said (quote) "Why don't you tell your kid not to stand on his chair" and walked away. The kid in question was literally sitting in his chair with one foot against the table. We explained to the manager the impact of what he said, and gave him multiple opportunities to apologize. We get it: its St Patrick's Day in an Irish bar and it's stressful. But instead of recognizing that he snapped: he doubled down and tried to convince us that his language fine, and that we were in the wrong for calling him out. I even talked with him an hour later, after it had cooled off, and he continued to be aggressive and dismissive. A bad manager is one thing. But our server didn't acknowledge the awkwardness (even as other families watched in shock), just trying to rush us out. The food was probably the worst it's ever been at Stone's, which raises questions of why. It's understandable to have a bad day, it's *not* ok to set the tone for your staff and establishment that berating your customers, unprompted, is acceptable.

I hate to be that person so we just paid and left but the photo speaks for itself... margarita flatbread was also pretty bad. The sauce tasted tasted like salsa, and it had squares of melted halloumi on it? Looked nothing like one of the pictures I saw on Google reviews so I'm thinking they may have just ran out of ingredients yesterday. Even just the restaurant itself was pretty gross. Sticky floors, dirty plates and silverware given to us, dirty bathroom. Definitely won't be going back.

The steak tips were wayyy overcooked - we asked for medium and it was very well done. Same with the burger - very overcooked. The fries were very obviously from frozen. The mozz sticks were way too big. here are the tips to make this place way better: better cut of meat, don't overcook the meat. The burger neeeeeds a sauce! FRESH fries - from a potato! and make the mozzarella sticks less thick. Everything needs to be homemade... that's what makes customers coming back. Drinks were good but veeerrry sugary - make them not as thick... fresh & light is more like it I hope this place survives and takes my advice - it would only help!

We placed our order and asked the waitress if they had live music, as we saw the set up. She said the did, we expressed our concern regarding the noise level. I asked to talk with the manager. He listened and he did agree that we should have been informed of the music and the server should have checked back with us. One of our friends was on crutches and the woman that greeted us was extremely accommodating. She was at the hostess stand but I assume she was a manager. She wanted to make sure my friend would be comfortable at a high top otherwise would try to find us a booth. We took the high top and she offered an extra chair for our friend to elevate her leg. This little interaction was simple yet rare these days and it really started the meal off nicely! The service was a bit slow but again it was BUSY and they were training new staff so we didn't mind. It gave us plenty of time for chatting and drinks -- so many options including actual mocktails. We ordered the short rib quesadillas to start and they were loaded with meat. Each of our entrees were delicious and generous! We will be back. Definitely go check this place out! And I hope the woman that helped us sees this and gets recognized and appreciated for her efforts!
