They should name this the Torture Chamber. Not recommended unless you like drinking Tobasco solutions.

It was a weekend going for early (5ish) dinner prior to other nightly events. Walked in to the restaurant with about 3 other tables seated, service and menu came quickly, got our orders in, and it just went downhill from there. First off, that cocktail. I gather it is inspired with Indian flavors, and I can take a chili pepper kick in a drink. But this is straight up tobasco water. The guava part is visible but not detected in the mixture other than it's contribution to the thick-ish blob at the bottom. Not at all a fruity drink with a kick, more like torture solution to burn one's throat. In hindsight, I should have sent it back coz it was not enjoyable at all. Food was overall good, actually. Good portion, great flavors -- the salad, flatbread, and the goat entree. Didn't like the balsamic glaze in the Mediterranean salad though. Honestly, it was likely from a bottle, which is fine if it wasn't so overly sweet. As the restaurant started to fill out, it was getting harder to get service - basic things like asking for the check and to-go boxes. It took several tries and more than 15 minutes before we could go. Our waiter apologized for a busy night, which we appreciated. But the other guy we flagged down along the way seemed to just say yes and walked off without communicating to anyone who needs to receive the message. Strange. The digital menu is great, but the pictures all get flattened as we click into the item. Something that can use some adjustments.

I got take out from this silk for the first time. The hostess was very friendly and was quick to help grab my food. The chicken Tikka was delicious, and you seemed to get two servings for one order which was nice for the price. I will be going back!

Great experience. Abi was a wonderful bartender, I enjoyed chatting with him and he made me the best martini I've ever had.

We loved the music, lively atmosphere, and fantastic service as much as the killer food. The menu features an entire page of imaginative cocktails, each artfully prepared and presented. The Strawberry Cheesecake is one of Merai's signatures, and it actually looks like a slice of strawberry cheesecake. We started with the beautifully presented Golden beet salad, which was bursting with flavor from the Thai chili jam dressing, followed by the Grilled Caulilini. Similar to broccolini but from the cauliflower family, it was grilled and served with tomato-tomatillo relish, fish sauce, and finely grated Parmesan. We took the bartender's advice and ordered the signature Hot Dog, made with spicy krapow sausage and served in a toasted bun with salted egg yolk mayo and caramelized basil. I rarely eat meat, but I had to make an exception to try it, and it did not disappoint. I'm not usually a fan of fried food or rice, but I was persuaded to try the Chicken Rice, and all I can say is WOW! Chicken legs are stuffed with garlic rice and fried with caramelized fish sauce, creating a sweet, sticky, and utterly delicious crispy exterior. The chicken must be eaten by hand, and it was truly finger-licking good. I can't recommend Merai highly enough and will definitely be back. It's a small space with both bar and table seating, so your best bet is to reserve ahead.

My family and I walked in aroud 5:15 on a Sunday night and walked in for dinner service at the bar. Although we didn't get drinks, we did feast on several items. Pomelo salad was light and unique for Boston Thai food, the crab fried rice was filled with plump and fresh crab meat, the beef panang had a deep flavor with tender meat, and the crab curry was so fun to dip the rice noodles into. For 3 people, these dishes were considered 3 "big" tapas and 1 "small" tapa and were enough to fill us up. Although I did have my eye on the branzino for the longest time...which I will come back for Would love to try their sister restaurant, Merai, which is just next door and currently hosts one of my favorite Boston-based pop-ups, Newbery Street which does Thai-style coffee/matcha and salt bread.

The Tahini colada was non-alcoholic and my friend really enjoyed it. Didn't get to taste the other drinks but everyone at our table enjoyed them! Our server was attentive and replenished our water for the table as soon as they were empty without our even asking. Food 5/5: every dish we ordered represented Sichuan flavors well, especially the spiciness of it! Our favorites were the eggplant with spicy garlic sauce, with the chengdu dry hot chicken and the string beans. The braised beef with Napa cabbage and mapo tofu were also delicious. Ambience 3/5: super loud. It wasn't even the music, it was that people's conversations were bouncing off the walls in a small space such that it was not possible to hear the other people in my group except who I was sitting next to. I saw several dates there and hopefully they could hear each other ok. Drinks: 2/5 overpriced and disappointing. My Negroni was ok but my husband's Manhattan tasted watery like it had been shaken instead of stirred and the melon highball tastes medicine-y. Overall a good experience because we were hungry and the food was amazing. We made up for not hearing each other well by taking an evening stroll and talking as we walked.

The crispy cauliflower was my favorite dish of the night, so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The rigatoni bolognese was solid and comforting.
