Beautiful restaurant with tasty, well-executed Indian classics. Service is efficient and friendly. One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Boston.

This place was so yum! We went during an awkward time, but it turned out to be the best time because the service was amazing and everyone was so attentive. The vibes are wonderful. My boyfriend is from India, and he loved the place (and trust me, he's picky). I've had my fair share of Indian food, and I often order Paneer Butter Masala, and this place definitely makes my top three Indian restaurants so far. The flavors were on point, and that Manchow soup... I could come back every day for that alone. Definitely give this place a visit!

Went to Kahaani on a sleepy night. They just opened in Southie and my wife and I were excited to try it. We were not disappointed at all! Service was excellent. We sat at the bar which is our favorite way to go. Ordered some of our favorites: butter chicken, Chana masala, biryani, and a lamb kebab. Everything was terrific and the portions were HUGE. Safe to say this is our new Indian restaurant and we absolutely will value them as more than just a takeout spot. Easy dinner out or a date night this will be in the rotation. Check it out.

We've been waiting for this restaurant to open ever since we saw the sign go up (probably more than a year ago) and once we saw it opened up...we had to go. We got a reservation for Sunday, but I don't think you really need one. When we went in the restaurant was mostly empty with a few groups there. So that being said, we were seated immediately. The restaurant itself is beautiful with the flower decorations and overall interior being well thought out and designed. I would call it a pretty restaurant for sure. It looked like they had a private room in the back, and booths looked like more intimate seating. There's also a bar area with huge TVs (the drinks are great!). For our appetizer we got the Aloo Samosa. The samosa were perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and had a delicious filling! Both of the chutneys were great with it too (although usually the green one has some spice, here it wasn't spicy). For our entrees we got the Madrasi Chicken and the Saag Chicken, and we got the chili naan. I asked for the madrasi chicken to be spicy. Don't do that- leave it as is. Both of the entrees were huge and came with bowls of rice. The chicken in both of them were perfectly cooked chicken thighs. They weren't dry- they were just that perfect cook that when you make chicken at home you feel is impossible to achieve. The saag was very flavorful and went so well with the naan, I think we'd definitely get it again. It was creamy too! The madrasi chicken (that I asked to be spicy) was very spicy, but so good. The sauce it was in reminded me of my uncles chicken curry. It was so flavorful with a variety of spices and flavors coming through. I had it with rice and the naan, but I liked it with the rice more. For my cocktail I got the desert bloom. It was like an espresso martini but with pistachio. It was delicious and I'd get it again, but honestly does not pair well with the food. Next time I'll try something else that matches the food a bit better. My only complaint is the service. I understand it's a new restaurant so I'm sure there are some kinks to work out, but our waiter didn't check in with us at all once our entrees came out. Not that there were any problems (the food was so delicious) but usually your waiter will stop by at least once to make sure everything came out well. Once we finished eating (the portions were huge and we had leftovers) we had to wait a WHILE for the check. Another waitress was walking past us and realized we were done eating and asked if we needed boxes- only then did our waiter come back with the takeout boxes and bill. Waiting around for 20ish minutes after you've finished eating can be annoying, so hopefully they work out a better system soon. TLDR: the food is great, and I'll be back! A much needed and definitely one of the better Indian restaurants in boston proper.

We had an incredible dinner at Kahaani last night. It was very affordable and the servers were so nice. The restaurant is designed with beautiful flowers. The food was so good. You need to start with the samosas. The butter chicken and garlic naan were to die for. I would run back to this restaurant!

Truly the best Indian food I've ever had. The butter chicken was spicy, flavorful, and buttery, so incredible delicious! We also tried garlic and cheese naan and the Gobi cauliflower which was insanely crisp and yummy. The servers were very friendly and the interior is cute and welcoming. I cannot recommend the food enough, I want to come back to try more!

    Chicken biryani and Saag Paneer

I ordered take out chicken biryani and saag paneer. OMG it was the best version of both of these dishes I've ever had. Subtle spicing, beautiful texture, and just the right level of heat. So glad this restaurant opened in South Boston.

The food here was really good! The beetroot kabobs, paneer butter masala, gobi, and garlic naan were all so good. The food is accurately Indian spicy if you want it that way. The drinks were good, but not as much of an Indian twist as was expected. The Bombay Brine tasted just like an extra dirty martini. The interior of the restaurant is also really nice. Our server was really sweet! Will definitely be going back!

While the location and space is great, our dining experience was mediocre. The house-made clam chowder has very good flavor, but it was incredibly salty with a thin broth for a chowder - it could have used more clams and potatoes. To go with the chowder, we shared the Super Greens salad. While I really enjoyed this salad, including the white balsamic vinaigrette, it seemed to be missing some key ingredients listed on the menu. There was no sign of any seeds or quinoa in the salad, and a sparse amount of avocado and strawberries. A good lettuce salad, but it didn't meet the hype of the description (or price $17). Similar to the salad, the menu description for the Loaded Cheeseburger simply didn't match what we received. The burger was supposed to have sautéed onions, but it had sliced raw red onion instead. "Loaded" feels like a setup for disappointment, as there was a scant amount of cheese and bacon on this dry burger patty. Despite not being particularly crispy, I liked the fresh cut French fries, which were mostly small pieces (~one inch) best eaten with a fork. Our server did a nice job, though may have been a bit overwhelmed. Our food arrived before we even received water or had silverware, which we had to request. Oh well. At least we were out of there on time to enjoy the concert across the street, which was awesome!

It was very last minute, so we had no reservations, but we checked opening hours and were there almost on the dot. Thankfully we were able to get in. The way they are setup is that if you are a party of 2, they sit you with another "couple" to maximize space. This is fun, it makes you have conversations with strangers that for the time you are there become "friends". Hopefully you have the same good experience we did and not have anti-social people in front of you. It was a Sunday night and we didn't feel like going far for a meal. That's when we put the voucher to use as the Capiz is in the lobby of the hotel. We went for an early dinner. Walking into the restaurant, no one was there to greet us and there was no host stand. Finally, a server (who also turned out to be our server) told us to pick where we wanted to sit. We chose a four-top table. When it was time to order, we were dealing with a limited menu. I chose lobster quesadillas, which were listed under "appetizers". My husband chose the fish and chips. The quesadilla was sloppily made. Some pieces had hardly any cheese or lobster in them. Other pieces were overloaded with lobster and cheese. While it was all edible and the lobster was properly cooked, it still was underwhelming. My husband said the fish was well prepared, flaky and crispy at the same time. There were too many French fries, making the plate a bit messy. In a pinch, Capiz did fit the bill as we didn't feel like going far for a meal that day.
